maison's pov
sᴏ ғᴀʀ, ᴛʜᴇ night has been fun. we arrived at the beach and just messed around for a little. we tried taking some pictures but the five of us are too distracted when we're with each other. which is why i'm currently changing in madison's car while the girls laugh hysterically around the vehicle, blocking the windows from any viewers. they were pretty dark but we just wanted to be safe.
elaine had accidentally spilt some champagne on my pants but luckily for me i came prepared. i brought an extra outfit thinking something like this would happen. while i'm kinda bummed it happened to my favorite pants, i suppose it's a sign i need a new pair. they were a bit tight around my waist and butt anyways.
i climb out of the car now wearing sandals and a leopard print skirt paired with a white crop top. i slipped a cozzie on underneath, fully planning to go surfing whether the girls wanted to or not.

mads was posting something on her phone as we walked down to the beach carrying blankets and food.

maddie and i posed for yet another picture via elaine. she seemed kind of reluctant to take it. or maybe that's just me being paranoid. either way we both thanked her as she handed madison her phone back.
"aw that one's quite cute." i said as i peered over madison's shoulder. tonight has really been a bonding experience for us. lilah and elaine pretty much attached themselves to mads and the two of us often found ourselves being left out. whether it was on accident or purpose we didn't know. but it kind of hurt. we decided to stick together instead of bothering to butt into conversations where it didn't really seem like we were needed.
i could tell mads felt bad though. she was continuously trying to rope us into the conversations but failed every time elaine drove it into a different direction.
it was getting kind of exhausting but maddie and i didn't let it ruin our night.

"excuse me?" mads asks a girl walking along the beach. "would you mind taking a picture of us?" elaine and lilah had run to the bathroom and madelyn was very adamant about getting a picture with me and maddie in their absence.
"sure." she responds shyly.
"sage!" i exclaim. the brunette turns towards me in slight surprise.
"i didn't think you'd remember me." she admits, taking madelyn's phone.
i frown and shake my head. "you're adorable how could i forget?" she blushes at my compliment.
"mac come on!" maddie says, grabbing my wrist and dragging me towards the water. we'd all changed into cozzies, though the other girls had to buy a new one. none of them seemed to really mind. cozzie shopping is fun.
the sun was about halfway in the sky, setting off pastel pinks and oranges across the blue water. sage took a few pictures and giggled as the three of us came stumbling back up the beach.
"these are so good! thank you so much!" mads exclaims as she swipes through the pictures.
"you're welcome." sage murmurs, blushing.
maddie steps forward. "do you want to hang out with us for a little?" she seems genuine in her ask but sage looks hesitant.
"sure." she smiles shyly.

sunset surfing is turning into an absolute must. it's a little scary not being able to see underneath the dark and intimidating waves but the adrenaline and view really pushes that fear back.
madelyn and i are currently the only ones surfing. sage is out here as well but with a waterproof camera in her hand. she insisted on taking pictures in return for letting her hang out with us.
"hey macie." mads says.
i swivel my head to face her. "what's up?"
"bye!" she shouts joyously before flipping me off the rental board.
the water feels nice on my skin despite it being near eight o'clock. it's still hot as hell out here.
"mads!" i exclaim as i break the surface. i stay there for a moment admiring the sunset as a flock of birds swoops down. nature is so gorgeous in its natural state.
i slide onto my board as my friend laughs hysterically and sage giggles. "that was mean." i pout, paddling closer to her.
"sorry." mads snickers. she leans over to hug me and i return it, splashing her as payback. sage starts laughing as we wrestle.

"c'mon maddie!" i shout. "we should leave before we're eaten by sharks."
madison squeaks and immediately begins to paddle towards me at a quick pace. i'm standing waist deep in the water holding onto my board. sage left a few minutes ago as her mum wanted her home. mads and maddie had switched about a half hour ago.
"i hate you don't ever say that to me again." she gasps as she reaches me. i chuckle and she smacks my bicep.
"come on. i wanna watch tangled." i start wadding towards shore and she follows. we return our boards and grab our stuff before heading back to her car. earlier, the three other girls left, saying they just wanted to watch movies.
madison and i told them to leave, as we wanted to stay at the beach awhile longer. we expected a no but instead got elaine practically jogging to her car while lilah and mads followed looking uneasy.
there was definitely something up with elaine. and it had something to do with me. i just know it did.
"i texted mads but she didn't answer." maddie interrupts my thoughts. "should we just head back to my place?"
i shrug. "that's fine with me."
she grins. "dope. you get aux. play some jams."
i throw my head back laughing. i love this girl.

i suggest watching julie and the phantoms on netflix ASAP!! it's so so cute and i'm in love with all the boys. i've watched it twice already oops hehe
