I hate it when she makes that sad face. I don't want her to cry but I always end up hurting her. I really didn't know what to reply when she asked to give us a chance. I want to but I can't.
When I first met her, she was so nervous to see me. I was thinking why the whole time in the meeting I could feel her starring at me. I doubt she even knew the topic we were discussing.
Then the wedding thing I never wanted to marry anyone because I don't trust any girl after what 'she' did to me. But Dad wanted to see me married. He asked me many times about marriage and my reply was the same. 'No.' I mean what change can a wife bring in your life. My life was going so smoothly with my work and sex. But Dad didn't liked it. So he came to me one day and said that if I marry his friend's daughter then he would hand me over his company too and will retire from work. Merging both our companies would earn us more profit. Every time I told Dad about this he used to tell that he is waiting for the right time. I never wanted him to retire but he said that someday he would need a break from all this work and he has to spend some time with Mom. I guess he was waiting for this correct time only, when he can ask me to get married.
At first I said no to the marriage and I told him that I am happy with my company but that man, knows business so well. He is the only one person who can beat me in business. He showed me that how much profit can I earn if I agree to this offer. So I said yes for the marriage.
When we went to see the girl I didn't had any information about her. I didn't even wanted to see her face. When my Dad told that she has a crush on me and he knew that she wouldn't say no to the marriage, I got really angry. I wanted her to say no. Dad also said that she didn't take long to say yes. His words were just making me more and more angry.
She came down the stairs, I was surprised at first to see her, she was the same girl. She looked really nervous. No wonder why she was sweating in the meeting and was stuttering. Because I am her bloody crush. I thought that I should clear things out between us so I asked her to talk to me privately. That was the first time I saw her hurt when I said that I hate her. After I left the room she was crying her heart out. Well I really don't care. I just hate her. When the next time she cried in front of me I don't know why but it made my heart ache a little.
Staying with her these days has made me realize that I was wrong about her. I thought she wanted to marry me just for my money, I thought her as a slut just like Maddison but no I was wrong Ev is different. When I kissed her on our marriage I could tell it was her first kiss, she was trying to copy what I was doing but I pulled away. I didn't wanted to give her any hopes. But when she kissed me at the reception I lost control over myself and kissed her. It was so different. I have never felt like this kissing anyone. My heart was beating so fast.
I got to know many things about Ev. She is crazy about chocolates and when she gets them she becomes a baby. Then she gets really scared after watching horror movies. Well I didn't got the chance to experience that till now. I only know it because at the wedding due to her nervousness she spilled out everything in front of me. One more thing when she gets nervous she talks a lot. Even if her talks makes sense or not.
Then that Scott guy. If he doesn't stop flirting with my Ev then I'll surely kill him one day. Its not that I am jealous or something it's just I hate that guy. I wanted to kill him on the same moment I saw him dancing with my Ev.
Wait did I just said my Ev for two times?
God this girl is really making me go crazy.
I drove to my company and made my way to my office when I saw Dad waiting for me there.
"Son you are here. Well I am here to give you what I promised." He handed over some papers to me and said "I am tired of working now I need a break from my work so I give this responsibility to look after my company to you. I know you will do it efficiently. I trust you."
"Thanks Dad. I will try my best."
"Oh I know you will. By the way, how is it going on between you and Eveline?"
"Good."
"I am sure it is. I am so happy that my son has learnt to love again."
"What?"
"Oh stop it Alex I know you won't accept it but yesterday when I saw you both dancing together in each others arms I saw something in your eyes. Something different. I know Alex you are staying away from her so that you don't fall for her. But son this is where you are so wrong. Just give this marriage a chance. She is not going to hurt you."
"I think you should stop thinking that something is even possible between us. You very well know that I am not falling in love with anyone again."
"She is not anyone Alex. I am sure she is capable of changing this stubborn man."
I rolled my eyes at his words.
Well I am scared that she is already doing that.
"By the way before coming here I have already leaked this news to the media."
"No. Dad. Why would you do that? I am in no mood to answer their questions."
He just laughed at me. "You are all over the news son."
News? That means Ev will also get to know about it. Shit. I wanted to tell her myself. I wanted to see that smile of hers when I tell her. Her surprised expressions. What would she do when I tell her?
I was smiling thinking about it.
"Young man I think you are already changing. Smiling for the first time after so many years." My smile faded with what he just said. I changed my face to a hard look. Dad smiled and said "I am so happy today. Your mom will love to know about this that her son is finally changing. Take care. I'll be leaving."
He left. I sat on my chair and rubbed my temples.
What was I thinking? I have to stay away from her.
Many people called me to congratulate for the achievement but I was waiting for that one call that would make me happy. But she didn't call even for once. Not even a message. It was disturbing me so much that I was not able to focus on my work properly.
My phone rang once again eagerly I grabbed it expecting it to be her but it was Rose. I picked up the call.
"Hey congo big brother."
"Thanks."
"So when are we getting a party? Oh my God I am so excited."
"Ask Dad he has already planned a lot without asking me I am sure he has planned this too."
"Oh God Alex you are no fun. By the way did something happen to Ev."
"Ev? You met her?"
"Ya. Today I went to meet Cass in her company I saw Ev too. She looked a bit sad, hurt. Well I am not good at reading faces so I didn't figure it out. I got to know about your taking over the company there only. We all were together."
"Ev too?"
"Ya she was there too."
"She didn't say anything?"
"No. But she just went back to work. It was strange. She never acts like that. Did something happen between you two."
"No. nothing. I am a bit busy I'll talk to you later."
"Ya bye bye and don't forget about the party."
She knows but still she didn't call me. Wow! Great. She doesn't even care and I am the one dying here waiting for her call.
Why would she call me I always hurt her. Even today I made her cry. But still she could've just sent a message. The whole day I was thinking about Ev. I was unable to focus in my work.
I have to take her out of my mind.
It was 7pm when I decided to go home. I can't take it anymore. I need to see her. I drove back home.
When I entered the house it was all dark. I called her "Ev?"
But no reply. I heard some noises coming from the kitchen I made my way to the kitchen when I stopped in my way. I looked at the dining table it was decorated with some candles with my favorite foods on it. I heard a noise behind me. I knew who would it be.
This girl can't do anything without making noise. I smiled to myself.
"BOO!" so she was trying to scare me. I turned around to see Ev standing with a smiling face.
The face I was dying to see since morning. "SURPRISE!"
"You know I thought so many times to call you and congratulate you but I wanted to give you a surprise so I asked Rose not to tell you about how excited I was."
Oh so that was planned.
"Congratulations on your success Xander." She said with a big smile plastered on her face.
That name. I just love it when she calls me that.
