I woke up with a smile on my face. It was Monday and Alexis told me that Damien is suppose to be asking me to homecoming this week. His hoco proposals are the best. Last homecoming, he asked me with a poster that said 'It'll be a shame if you say no to this proposal. I know Karma will hit, but Baby.. I'm there if you are. Dress Just Like Me and go to homecoming' He made it a play on Summer Walker's songs on her Last Day of Summer album. He gave me two Summer Walker wall tapestries.
That means my hair and outfits have to be on point all week for pictures. I know he's going to go crazy for our senior year homecoming. I can't even imagine his promposal.
I went to my closet and picked out a dress and cardigan out. I went to the bathroom and slicked my hair in a high puffy bun.
"Nevaeh, I'm downstairs" I heard Heaven yell. It sucks not being able to drive the car by myself, but I love being home more. My parents are engaged and happier than ever. My dad has officially moved back in the house and it's actually okay. Everything has been better since I came home.
I slipped on my brown sandals and grabbed my phone and bookbag. I walked downstairs to the kitchen where my mom was making avocado toast for us. It's the simplest food ever and it's so good.
"Alright girls. I'm making Chinese tonight soooo if you don't want that, you might wanna stop and get you something. Also, Nevaeh.. ask Lex can she bring you home. Alexis! Not anyone else" she said while fixing my brothers' lunch.
"Okay. Did you book my makeup appointment?" I asked. Homecoming is in three weeks and I've already been trying to stay ahead of the game.
"Yes and hair appointment. I booked yours too Heaven"
"Wait.. who said I was going to homecoming?"
"I did. It's senior year baby. You gotta go"
"If I go, i'm wearing a simple dress and I really don't need a makeup or hair appointment"
"Don't do that. Who is Zion?" my mom asked causing me to look up at her.
"A friend"
"Since when?!" I exclaimed.
"A couple weeks" she mumbled. "It's Raymond's girlfriend's cousin"
"Sis. This is good. I love it!"
"Okay. Let's go" she said grabbing her bag and leaving the kitchen.
"See you later ma! I love you. Bye Kareem and Kyndall and Daddy" I yelled running out the door just in case Heaven tries to leave me.
My sister is finally talking to someone other than Raymond. It only took six years for this to happen. This means she is comin out of the shell.
"Tell me about this here boy please ma'am" I said looking at Heaven while she drove.
"He's nobody. I promise. This boy was at the car when I was about to leave school. He said he had a crush on me all high school, but he thought I was dating Raymond until he found out that his cousin Kaitlyn was dating him. He was shy, but he decided to shoot his shot. We texted on Instagram then I gave him my number and we been facetiming for a week honestly"
"Heaven. He's somebody. He likes you and he came to you. That's kinda sweet you can't lie"
"It is. He's slightly corny, but I mean.. He's cool I guess"
"What does Ray think?" I asked pretty much already knowing the answer.
"He's telling me to go with the flow continuously, but he says that I don't need anybody and if I get hurt, he will snap his neck" she said nonchalantly, but I know that Raymond is dead ass serious. "He's been kinda not himself lately. His mom and dad left to go to Florida and he's not himself" his parents aint never been around. He really should just let it go. However, I can see where he is coming from. I would be straight depressed if my parents left me every so often to go live their life without me.
"Well, you know he'll tell you eventually whatever is bothering him"
"I know. I just hate seeing him like this" I shook my head. If you didn't know them, you would think they are and have always been a couple. They totally complete each other more than anything. I know they are just friends, but their connection is even greater. I love it. I tease her a lot for their friendship because I find it fascinating. She's my twin. I like seeing her in happy situations.
"I know he'll tell you wassup" she nodded and we listened to music the rest of the way to school.
Once we got there, it was a crowd surrounding our usual parking space. This is it! Heaven parked and we got out and merged into the crowd.
"Hey baby" Damien said walking up behind me wrapping his arms around my waist.
"Hey" He kissed the side of my forehead. Heaven stopped beside me, but Raymond came and pushed her to the middle. "Who's getting asked?"
"Your sister"
"No way" I said pushing past people.
"Heaven, will you go to Homecoming with me?" I heard. Heaven looked like she was about to shit her pants. Zion, who I recognized from my Lit class, stood in front of her with a poster that said 'Come Croc it with me at Hoco!' He had a box of white Crocs with gray fur lining the inside. Corny.
"She is about to stop breathing" Alexis said coming up beside me. I stepped up beside her and tapped her making her look at me.
"Say something" I whispered.
"Sure" she mumbled. She looked at me and I gestured toward him. "Yes" she said louder.
Everyone around popped poppers of confetti. Cornyyyy!
"She hates attention and he would have known that if he asked me" Raymond said shaking his head. Heaven had went to stand beside Zion so Kaitlyn could take pictures.
I shook my head at him and pulled Damien away. One day down. Four more to go.
"That was nice right?" he asked.
"It was. Raymond don't like it though"
"Buddy need to be with my sis then. He got a problem with niggas talking to her that mean he want her"
"I mean he not mad about the dude. He mad he asked in front of all them people. Heaven don't like attention. She's lowkey as fuck and we know that. Raymond was just like he wished the dude came and talked to him to get ideas"
"I guess. Tell Raymond to shoot his damn shot" I laughed slightly.
"I don't know what Raymond is going to do whenever a man wants to propose to her. He'll probably have to ask daddy and Papa. Then, Ray would be a different ball park. He gone straight kill the dude. He'll probably plan her engagement"
"Because he'll be the one proposing. Mark my words" This dude.
Heaven
"Thanks Zion" I said putting the poster and Crocs in my car.
"No problem. I wouldn't wanna go with anyone else" I nodded and we started walking into the building. "Did you like it though? I mean Kai helped me with it and I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone doing this" You damn sure made me feel out of mine, but I guess I gotta be okay with it. 'Go with the flow Heaven'
"Yes. I liked it. It was cute"
"Just cute orrrr..?"
"Zion. I liked it. I promise. I'll see you at lunch" I said walking off from him as we split ways to go down different hallways. Raymond took to my side immediately.
"Mama's cooking Chinese tonight"
"Heaven"
"You can come over. I'll text her"

"I hated it. It was the worst ever. Like... I'm not ungrateful or anything, but I really hate attention. Imagine my surprise. I pull up to school thinking this was going to be an ordinary day and he got a whole ass crowd ready. I get out and boom! A muhfuckin poster my nigga. What the fuck kinda shit. He never mentioned this before. Shit. We was asking each other random questions one late night and he asked my shoe size. He asked what my favorite shoes were too. I gave him this proposal"
"Man. I know you don't like surprises. He shoulda asked me what you liked"
"He asked your girlfriend" I said patting his back. "Have a good day" I started to walk away and he pulled me back. "I love you bookie"
"I love you too" he said letting me go. We went our separate ways and I went in my first period class.

"Did you tell your mom I was coming?" Raymond asked standing by my car.
"Wassup with niggas being at my car when I get here"

"Man, don't start with the attitude. I aint fuckin wit it pook" he said snappin at me.
"Don't get pissed and cuss at me hoe" i said snapping back.
"Get fucked up in this parking lot" he said making his voice slightly deeper putting one hand on the car trapping me. He stared at me before we both started laughing.
"Yes I told her" I said once he moved away from me.
"Hey baby... Heaven" Kaitlyn said when she randomly appeared. She wrapped one arm around Ray's body and used the other arm to bring his arm around her. I mentally rolled my eyes. What's the point
"Wassup Kaitlyn" I said feeling awkwardness settle in.
"Where's my cousin?"
"I don't know. He's not my responsibility" I said smiling.
"You talking to somebody and don't know where they at?"
"We finna go. I'll see you later" Raymond said pulling her away. Thanks so much.
I got in the car and pulled off. This girl is weird as hell. She always wanna insert herself at random times and she "helped" Zion plan my hoco proposal. That's wild.
Raymond
"You being mad weird Raymond" Kaitlyn said.
"Nah shawt.. You being weird. Why you questioning her?"
"You always take up for her. I was having one simple conversation with the girl and it's a problem. I don't understand"
"Because she don't owe you no explanation for her and your cousin friendship honestly. Babygirl, sometimes you just gotta let Heaven do her own thing. She independent as fuck. She don't need a nigga"
"She do need a nigga so she can stop taking mine" What the fuck man?
"Don't do that. I hate when girls get mad or jealous because of a girl. Heaven and I have been friends for years. We don't have nothing going on and never have. I value our friendship too much and I value our" I said pointing between me and her "relationship. Chill on everything ma fr. We got bigger things to worry about" I said looking down at her stomach. She was actually pregnant. She said she peed on a stick and it said positive.
"I understand" she said. I hugged her and pecked her lips before saying our goodbyes. I hopped in the car and made my way to Heaven's house.
I texted her once I got there to let her know that I was there. I seen the front door open slightly before I got out the car. I walked inside and she stood leaning on the wall.
"I'm sorry for Kait" I said breaking the ice.
"Why she want me to be with Zion so bad? He cool don't get me wrong, but I don't like her attitude"
"Okay. I got that. I talked to her, so we should be straight. Aight?" I said pulling her into me. She wrapped her arms around my body and rested her head on my chest.
"Okay" she mumbled.
"Ray!" Kareem yelled running to me causing me to let Heaven go. I threw him over my shoulder and walked off to the living room where they usually are playing.
Nevaeh
"Alright girls. Nice practice. Remember to keep going over the routine. I would like us to have the tumbling passes and jumps perfected by the end of this week please" my coach said ending practice. I let out a sigh of relief and headed over to my bag. I pulled out my water and began to chug it when I started hearing cheers from my teammates. I turned around to see Damien.
He walked into the gym with a folded poster, balloons, flowers, a small Apple bag and a Gucci bag. I shook my head. He chose a time when I was sweaty and my hair was messy on top of my head. All the girl had their phones out starting to record.
"You thought today wasn't the day. I know you heard I was going to ask you this week that meant you was always going to be ready. I didn't want you to be ready. Soooo. Miss Nevaeh Register" He said opening the poster that read: 'It's about time that I asked you this question. It'll be hella Gucci if you said yes. Will you be my date to homecoming?'
"Sooo what do you say? Will you go with a real ass sexy nigga?" he said causing me to shake my head.
"Yes. I will be your date" I responded hugging him. Everyone around us started clapping and cheering.
"It's an apple watch and Gucci sandal slide shoes" he said once we finished taking pictures and he walked me to Alexis car. This is the best homecoming proposal yet. I love it.
"Thank you so much baby. This was so sweet" I said looking up at him. He leaned down and kissed my lips.
"Uhhhh... Don't start that cute lovey dovey shit" Lex said walking ahead of us, unlocking the door.
"Bitch bye" I said. Damien put my balloons, cheer bag, and bookbag in the backseat. I decided to hold everything else.
"Text me when you get home" he said kissing my temple. I nodded getting into the car.
