"God, Debby. I don't know what's wrong. It's like every time we touch I just can't wait until it's over." Y/n stressed as she plopped herself down on Debby's bed, hugging a fluffy pillow in her arms.

Debby put a sympathetic frown on her face as she sat down next to her. "Well, I mean, you took the next step a few days ago, maybe you need to give yourself some time to get the hang of it."

Y/n and her long term boyfriend, Andrew, had recently taken the step forward of sleeping together. However, it wasn't how Y/n thought it was going to be. She expected the excitement and romance, and instead she received the feeling of nothingness and a full brain of what she should do afterwards.

Y/n sighed, looking up at the ceiling. "I mean, it's like we aren't even on the same page half the time. He's doing one thing while I'm doing the other. I mean, we practically have to tell each other what we are doing, which just makes it awkward."

Debby nodded, "maybe you guys need to just stop thinking."

Y/n rolled her eyes, "that's the thing, I cant stop thinking with him. I mean, my first time was just like a whirl of... I don't know, I don't remember half of it but all I know is that it was amazing. And I thought that was going to be with Andrew too, but I guess not."

Debby furrowed her eyebrows, "wait, Andrew isn't your first?"

Y/n smiled softly, shaking her head. "No, my first was in college. Andrew is my second." Y/n let out a huff of a laugh, "we weren't even really together either but... we knew each other really well."

Debby then became fascinated, and she smiled softly. "What's his name?"

Y/n's smile grew bigger as she pictured him. She hadn't thought of him in a long time, and it honestly was a great refresh. "Tyler."

"Oh my god, now you have to tell me the story." Debby chuckled, "my boyfriend's best friend is named Tyler."

"I don't even know your boyfriend, so there is no way." Y/n smiled as she rolled her eyes. "Also, it was in Ohio, not New York."

"Tell me!" Debby begged and y/n sighed.

"Alright, alright... it all started at Columbus University, and it was a huge campus..."

Y/n walked swiftly through the dorms, looking at all the door numbers until she found 307. "Aha!" She mumbled to herself as she used her key to unlock the door.

Inside held two beds, and a huge window. Y/n smiled as she placed her suitcase down on the bedsheets.

"I surrender honestly. You've always done the same for me." Y/n sang along, rocking her head with the bouncy drum beat.

She didn't have a class until 6:30 and it was noon, so she had plenty of time to unpack and goof around.

She swayed her hips as she folded her clothes for the small drawer.

Her head turned to the door once she heard it open, and she took out a headphone, smiling. "Oh hey, you must be my roommate, Amelia, right?"

Amelia only scoffed, rolling her eyes as she laid down on her bed. Y/n's smile vanished and she shrugged it off. She must've just been in a bad mood.

"So, Amelia is a bitch?" Debby asked, and y/n giggled.

"Yes, she was a bitch."

"Okay but when do you meet this Tyler dude?"

"Okay, okay. I'm getting there. So, I was going to lunch a few days later..."

"Two chalupas, please." Y/n mumbled, and the cashier nodded.

"Alright, we'll call your name when it's ready."

Y/n nodded, glancing over the wall dividers separating the ordering desk to the booths. Y/n's eyes caught a glimpse of brown ones, his also catching hers.

She quickly glanced away though, having no interest or awareness of the boy. She started to walked towards an empty booth, sliding in and taking out her phone to check for messages.

Amelia: sorry about the other day. I was just very tired, and had a rough few classes. Would you like to meet me at the court yard? There's a party happening tonight at 9:30.

"Woah, woah, woah, you have her number?" Debby asked, "why didn't you tell me that part?"

"Because you made me fast forward to when I meet Tyler. Just shut up and let me talk!" Y/n demanded although she had a teasing smile on her face.

Y/n: it's okay. And I would love to. I won't be drinking, if that's alright. But I'm new and I need to meet people.

Amelia: perfect! See you then.

Y/n smiled softly, happy that Amelia was only having a bad day. It was honestly bothering her a little bit knowing that someone could possibly hate her for no reason.

Y/n heard the leather of the booth across from her squeak as a butt sat on it. Y/n furrowed her eyebrows looking up to be faced with the same brown eyes. "I like your smile." He said clearly, as if he wasn't bothered, nor scared of anything. His whole body rang confidence.

"Excuse me?" Y/n let out an awkward laugh, quite confused on the matter.

He shrugged, leaning his cheek on the back of his hand, his eyes never leaving hers. "I've never seen you here."

"What does that have to do with me smiling?"

Tyler shook his head, "it doesn't." He mumbled, and for some reason y/n felt her whole body ache with some sort of weird feeling, so she looked down at her hands. "What's your name?"

Y/n took a moment to gather the confidence to look back up. "Y/n."

"Y/n." Tyler mumbled, nodding. "That's very nice." Y/n's cheeks burned a shade of red, and she smiled. "Very nice." He then smiled too, and y/n thought he could win first place in a smiling contest if he tried. She didn't notice she was staring until Tyler spoke up again. "What'd you get?"

Y/n looked down swiftly, letting out a small awkward chuckle, "two chalupas."

Tyler nodded, "ah, okay. I got two soft tacos. I've been here for about two minutes so I'll most likely get mine first. But I'm going to eat it here so we can talk. Is that okay with you?"

Y/n hesitated before nodding, "yeah, that's okay."

"Tyler!" Someone called from the ordering desk and Tyler's head turned towards his name. "Ah, that's me. Tyler." He slid out of the booth, "I'll be right back."

Y/n let out a breath she didn't even know she was holding once he was gone. There was something so intimidating about the man, but it was in a good way. She felt feelings she had never felt before, therefore she tried to avoid them as much as possible. However, she was oddly attractive to the feelings he gave her.

"Alright, so you go to the college down the street, am I correct?" Tyler asked once he returned.

"Yeah, I just started a couple days ago." Y/n explained as she watched Tyler take a huge bite from his taco.

Tyler swallowed before continuing, "me too. When are your classes?"

"I have one 9:15, 3:25, and 6:30. Every week day."

Tyler hummed, nodding his head. "So, you're free tomorrow, same time?"

Y/n lifted her eyebrows, "you mean come here?"

Tyler nodded, "yeah, is that okay?"

She shrugged, "yeah, I could do that."

"Y/n!" Someone called and y/n got up to get her tacos only to have Tyler get up first.

"No, sit down. I'll get it for you." He then made his way to the ordering desk.

Y/n sat there shocked and confused. She had no idea who this man was, yet for some reason she felt as though it was natural for him to be here. Maybe it was just because of the way he was acting. He acted as though he had known her for ages.

"Here you go." Tyler gave her a sweet smile before sitting back down. "So, who is your roommate?"

She nodded, "Amelia Wylde." Tyler made an unpleasant face, "she invited me to a party tonight."

"You mean the courtyard?" He lifted his eyebrows, and y/n nodded. "You shouldn't go."

Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, "why?"

Tyler shrugged, holding his taco up as if getting ready to take a bite. "I just wouldn't." And he took a bite from his taco.

"Well, whatever. You don't know anything." Y/n took a bite from her chalupa, and Tyler shrugged.

"I don't know anything." He repeated as if he agreed, and they continued to eat in a comfortable silence.

"Oh my god, you went didn't you..." Debby sighed.

"Maybe..."

Y/n took a deep breath as she looked around, there was no one in sight. She rolled her eyes, basically begging God to rewind time and change her gullibility.

She sighed as she checked her watch. It was 9:28. She was early, by two minutes though.

"I told you." A voice called from behind her, and she sighed turning around to be faced with Tyler.

"Then why are you out here?" Y/n sighed frustratingly, and he nodded towards a black knob sticking up from the grass.

"To save you from getting wet." Tyler then looked down at his watch. 9:29. "we should move."

Y/n closed her eyes, sighing as she hung her head. "I didn't know this was going to happen."

"Yeah, she's a bitch." Tyler nodded in agreement with himself. After a few seconds of silence Tyler spoke up again. "We really should move."

Y/n sighed, beginning to walk towards the sidewalks. "This is so stupid."

Tyler chuckled, "no, but imagine once you get in your dorm and she sees that you're completely dry then she'll get mad that her shitty prank didn't work."

Y/n scoffed, "she's probably watching us right now."

Tyler shook his head, and suddenly the sprinkles began to spray the yard, and Tyler grabbed y/n's arm tugging her inside before the stray droplets got on them.

They were now in the girl's dorm, the lights were still on and there were a few people roaming through the gym and laundry room. "Thank you for saving me." Y/n began, "sort of." She chuckled awkwardly, and Tyler smiled.

"You're welcome. I'll see you at lunch tomorrow?" Tyler lifted his eyebrows expectantly, and y/n nodded. "Alright, bye, sweet-" he stopped himself, shaking his head as he quickly turned on his heel and closed the girl's dorm door behind him.

Y/n furrowed her eyebrows, she had never heard him stutter or think twice of his words before. She had only known him for a day, though.

She stood there and watched as he walked away towards the other side of the campus where the guy's dorms were. His walk was as if he was on a mission, he only looked forward, and his pace was quick.

She wondered if that was how he was all of the time, or if he was just trying to impress her.

"Okay, but when do we get to the juicy amazing part?" Debby asked, and y/n rolled her eyes.

"Debby! That's weird!"

"I don't mean tell me every detail, gosh."

"Well, a few weeks later. Around two weeks, we had gone to lunch together every day. It was to the point that I feel like I knew everything about him, and I ended up telling him things that I hadn't told anybody before..."

"An architect? I mean, wow." Tyler leaned back in the Taco Bell booth. "That takes a lot of creativity. That's really amazing that you want to do that."

"Not as creative and amazing as music! When will I get to hear that song of yours?"

Tyler shook his head, "later. I don't know."

"Oh, come on! I want to hear it!" Y/n pushed, and Tyler shook his head as he looked down. Music was the one topic that he seemed to be self-conscious about.

Tyler shrugged, looking back up with an expression of realization. "Oh, I won't be able to make it to lunch tomorrow. How does dinner sound instead? You can choose the place."

Y/n's face filled with shock. "You mean dinner?"

Tyler nodded, "yeah, isn't that what I said?"

"Yeah, it's just... maybe I'm reading into things but... a date?"

Tyler's smile dropped, and he almost looked worried. y/n had never seen him worried before. "Is that okay?"

Y/n nodded immediately. "Yeah, I just- I wanted to clear that up."

Tyler's smile returned, and y/n tucked a few stray hairs behind her ear. "Okay, how's 7:00 sound?"

Y/n nodded, "yeah, you could walk over to the girl's dorm and then we could walk across the street to Olive Garden."

Tyler's smile grew bigger to the point it was hard to hide his teeth. "Yeah, it's a date."

"Okay, if you had to pick between saving your ukulele or piano in a fire what would you save?" Y/n asked, taking a bite from her bread.

Tyler's eyes went wide as he thought, a smile creeping to his lips. "Okay, but am I able to carry the piano? My piano doesn't have wheels."

Y/n thought for a second, "just pick one."

Tyler hummed as he thought, y/n staring at him as she waited. Soon the waiter came with their food, so they had to postpone his answer.

"Thank you." Tyler rubbed his hands together, licking his lips at the sight of spaghetti and meatballs. As he cut up his long strings of spaghetti, he looked up at y/n who was sipping her soup. "So, I was thinking after this we can head back to my dorm and just hang out, watch a movie."

"It depends on what time it is. The dorms close at 10:30."

Tyler checked his watch, "well, we have plenty of time."

Y/n nodded.

"This is when it happens isn't it?" Debby asked, and y/n hushed her.

"Let me finish the story. It's almost over."

Tyler stuck out his hand, immediately wrapping it around y/n's. "We have to hold hands when walking across the street."

Y/n giggled, shaking her head at his reasoning. "So I won't get hit by a car?"

"No, so I won't get hit by a car. I would end up saving your ass and dying in the process."

Y/n shrugged, "if we hold hands we'll both die."

Once they got over to the other side Tyler stopped, tilting his head and furrowing his brows. "When did we start talking about death?"

"Ever since you held my hand." She fake gasped, "it's a sign."

Tyler tugged her arm as he began to walk again. "Oh, shut up." Y/n giggled.

"We'll hang out for a little bit and then I'll walk you home." Tyler suggested, and y/n nodded.

He opened his door to be faced with one bed and TV. And a desk, instead of a second bed, on the other side of the room. Y/n knitted her brows together, "you don't have a roommate?"

Tyler nodded, plopping down on his bed. "I did, but then he moved to LA a few days ago. They can't fill this room until next year."

Y/n nodded in understanding, plopping herself down beside Tyler. He watched her, and they stared at each other for a second, just smiling.

Y/n tilted her head, squinting her eyes at the man. "What?"

It seemed as though Tyler was using his eyes and expressions to speak. He gave her a look as if he didn't quite know what. Although his eyes told her he very well knew what.

"What movie are we going to watch?" Y/n said quietly, suddenly feeling as though if she talked any louder she would wake the whole school.

Tyler took a deep breath, his eyes shifting up as if he was searching his brain. "I don't know." He met her quiet tone.

Y/n sighed, letting herself fall on his bed, her feet dangling off the side. Tyler sat up, leaning down in his cabinet to grab some movie DVDs. "I have... Finding Nemo, the Lord Of The Ring collection, and Avatar."

Y/n hummed as she got comfortable with her back leaned on his pillow, facing the TV. "Let's watch Finding Nemo." She giggled, and Tyler chuckled shortly too.

"Okay," he said in a tone as if she'd regret it, although she loved Finding Nemo.

He stuck the DVD into the DVD player, before climbing in the bed next to her.

"I haven't seen this movie in so long." Y/n smiled, bringing her knees up to her chest. "I used to love it so much."

Tyler nodded, "Me too." His voice was only a whisper, and he let out a small breath.

They watched it for at least 30 minutes until Tyler paused the movie. Y/n looked over at him confusingly, and he looked at her. "You."

This was the time y/n got even more confused, "what?"

"I would choose you to take if I was in a fire."

Y/n smiled, shaking her head. "I wasn't a choice."

"Well, you're my first choice." Tyler smiled softly, and y/n let out a huff of a chuckle.

"That's very nice of you."

Tyler smile slowly faded, and he looked down at her lips. "Can I kiss you?" He whispered, and she smiled softly.

"Okay, but I haven't kissed anyone before."

Tyler ignored her comment, and leaned in. Their lips brushed together, and it felt as though her entire body was aching with warmness spreading through her veins.

They didn't let off, and Tyler ended up moving closer, brushing his hands down her side as he moved on top.

Y/n was too in a trance to realize what they were doing. All she could think about was the feeling of Tyler and his warmth.

"And then after a while of kissing... we did it." Y/n shrugged, sighing. "But it's not over. Afterwards, Tyler had laid his head on my chest. And I was just laying there, enjoying the feeling of him basically laying on me..."

Tyler kissed y/n's collar bone, laying his head on her chest as he took a deep breath in and out. Y/n's eyes were closed, a small smile on her face.

It went quiet, and y/n brushed her fingers through the back of Tyler's hair.

"Curfew starts in 10 minutes. I repeat curfew starts in 10 minutes." A speaker from the hall was heard, and immediately y/n felt her whole body ache and her stomach twist into a knot.

She stopped breathing for a moment, and she suddenly felt too hot to have Tyler on her. He didn't seem to notice, because his breathing was calm and his eyes were closed. "Oh my god..." y/n said calmly, "oh my god..." she said more frantically, pushing Tyler's shoulder. "Get off of me, please."

He did so quickly, a confused look on his face. She got out of his bed quickly putting her clothes on. "Wait, y/n. You can stay here, I'll just walk you over early in the morning."

Y/n shook her head, fiddling with her shirt as she tried to pull it over her head. "N-no I have to go. Holy shit."

"What's wrong?" Tyler was sitting up, his waste covered from the sheets.

"I have to go. I am so sorry, but this was a mistake."

Tyler then slid himself over towards the side of the bed as if he was about to get up. "Wait, hold on a minute. I thought we had fun."

Y/n stopped what she was doing to look at him in the eyes. "Yeah, that's all it was. Fun."

And she shook her head as she left with her flip flops in her hand and her jacket bundled up in the other.

"I'd never forget his face. He was heartbroken, I could tell. I was just so scared, and I had never done that a day in my life."

"Wow..." Debby mumbled, shaking her head as she took a deep breath. "I'm so sorry about that."

Y/n nodded, "I regret it too. He was all I really ever wanted, and once I left college for New York, I tried to find someone to be with and they never added up to him. Too bad I don't know him anymore." Y/n sighed, "I wouldn't be able to show my face if I did."

"Well, maybe you shouldn't be with Andrew if he isn't what you want. That's what I got from that whole story."

Y/n sighed, "well, that isn't helpful, Debby. He thinks I love him."

Debby shrugged, "you gotta do it sometimes. It's like with me and Josh. I was dating Grayson and then I met Josh and I honestly started to have second thoughts. And I ended up breaking up with him and he thanked me for not leading him on." Debby shrugged again, "it's the right thing to do."

"It's not like I know Tyler anymore though. So what am I going to do once I break up with him?"

Debby shrugged, "I don't know, but it's the right thing to do."

"I just wish I could see Tyler again and apologize. And maybe we could start over, and we could love each other, but I can't. Because I'm never seeing him again."
