The next day I created some POV's with just me and posted them that morning before my zoom class. I had class and when I went back on in the afternoon, he had dueted some of them and it was so cool. I had loads more follows from his fans. I was scrolling through TikTok instead of doing work when a massage from Tristan popped up
"hey. Your really talented and our fans seem to like us doing duets. Shall we think of some new one's we could do."
"hey. Thank you and so are you. Yeah, they do. Sounds good." I replied
"cool. I'm free now. Shall we do it over face time, it would be easier." He said
"I'm free now too and sure," I replied
He messaged me his number and I called him.
"hey. I said when he had answered
"hey." He replied
"so have any idea?" I asked him
"Yeah, some. So, I was thinking we could do this husband and wife little series and it be a mix of us being cute and loving each other to us getting into fights." He said
"Yeah sounds good. We could use some songs but also some of our voices." I replied
"Yeah sounds good. You got anything?" he asked
"hmmm. Maybe we can make a quarantine series about a couple that can only talk on face time about stuff like prom and helping with work, I saw a video on YouTube of people doing a series like it and its cool." I replied
"Yeah, that sounds good." He replied
We talked about other possible ideas for about 30 minutes then I figure to change the subject as I wanted to get to know him.
"sounds like a good idea." I replied, "can I ask you something?" I added
"sure." He replied
"what is it like moving away from home and everything you know to a city you barely know?" I asked
"Good question. I've never been asked that. Well, it's a bit scary but the boys here make LA and this house feel like home." He replied
"do you miss your friends and family?" I asked
"yeah of course but I make sure I talk to them almost every day and they are all supportive of me." He replied
"sounds quite nice," I said
"Yeah, I guess it is. Why do you ask?" he asked
"I never left home, always lived in LA and my parents aren't exactly supportive of me doing TikTok," I replied
"you live in LA too?" he questioned
"yeah," I replied
"Cool. How come your parents are not supportive?" he asked
"They think it's a waste of time and I can't do that as an actual job," I replied
"Oh. Have you tried to explain it to them?" he asked
"I've tried. They're still not interested. They want me to go do business in college and get a good job." I replied
"but that's not what you want to do." He replied
"Nope," I replied
"what do you want to do?" he asked
"to be honest I'm not sure, but what I do know is that I don't want to go to college and that I'm enjoying making video's on TikTok," I replied
"who knows what they want to do these days but if you want to do something with social media you can, I mean I never figured I would be in LA and be part of a TikTok house but here I am and I love it and you need to just put yourself first and do what you want." He replied
"easier said than done. My parents are both successful business people and they want me to follow in their footsteps when I don't want to. They just don't understand that that's not who I am." I replied
"maybe make a deal with them." He said
"What kind of deal?" I asked
"that you spend 1-year doing social media and then if your famous and are earning money you continue it but if not, you go to business school as your parents wanted." He said
"that's not a bad idea but what if I don't. I will be miserable at business school." I replied
"then we just haft to make sure that you become famous and can support yourself." He said
"Does that mean you would help me if my parent agrees to it?" I asked
"Yeah, sure why not. Was my idea after all." He replied
"cool. I think I will then. I hope they agree." I said
"Yeah same here." He replied, "let me know what they say." He added
"will do. I'll ask in a bit when they are finished with work." I said "on the topic of work I should probably do some. I'll talk to you later." I said
"ok speak later, bye." He said
"bye," I replied and we hung up.
He was so nice just like he seemed in his lives. I haft to admit I quite like him and we seemed to have a good vibe. He was so easy to talk to. I was nervous to talk to my parents but it was a good plan and I just hoped they would agree to it. I opened my laptop and started to do some of my school work.
I worked until my parents called me down for dinner. We sat at the table and ate. The whole time I was nervous and stayed silent for most of the time. We cleared the table and instead of going up like I normally do, I stayed downstairs. I knew it was time for me to ask them
"mum, dad can you sit down for a minute. I want to talk to you about something." I said
"Sure sweetie." My dad replied and they sat down at the table. I sat opposite them and we looked at each other
"so, what's up honey?" my mum asked me
"well I was thinking about how I want to do social media and you guys want me to go to business school." I started
"we've already discussed this Beth." My dad interrupted me
"I know but just hear me out," I replied. They stayed quiet so I continued "well I was hoping we could come to an arrangement. I would do social media for a year and if I become famous and am earning money, I can continue but if the year is up and I'm not I'll go to business school like you want me to." I said
They looked at me then looked at each other and whisper talked about it for a minute
"ok, you have a deal." My dad said holding his hand out
"really?" I questioned
"really." My mum replied
I took my dad's hand and shook it
"thank you, thank you so much," I replied and ran upstairs to message Tristan
"1-year Beth from now!" my dad shouted as I ran upstairs
I closed my door and opened my messages on my laptop
"omg, they agreed to it." I messaged him
"they did. That's great." He replied
"you free to facetime?" I asked
"yeah." He replied
I called him and he answered
"I can't believe they actually said yes!" I exclaimed as soon as he answered
"of course, they did." He replied
"yeah thank you so much. I don't know what I would have done without you." I said
"that's ok." He replied
"ok so how do I get famous in 1 year?" I asked
"live in LA but you already are." He said
"Yeah. I was thinking of setting up a YouTube channel." I said
"Yeah. That would be a good idea." He replied
"Yeah. Will you help me think of some video ideas?" I asked
"yeah sure. You got any already?" he asked
"I mean I could do a Q&A, a day in the life and makeup tutorial," I said
"Yeah. You could do some prank videos and challenge ones." He added
"Yeah, they're good. A bit hard to do now as I don't think my parents would want to be in my videos and my brother is not here as he lives in New York." I replied
"ah yeah. Bloody quarantine." He said
"yeah it's really annoying," I replied
"so, what does your brother do?" he asked
"oh, he is a journalist for a sports magazine. My parents are so proud." I replied
"ah, and they want you to follow in theirs and his footsteps." He said
"yep. I'm the disappointment of the family." I replied
"well, you're not a disappointment to me." He replied
I smiled "thanks." I replied
We then heard someone call Tristan from the distance
"I'm needed, I should probably go." He said
"yeah ok, talk soon," I replied
"Yeah. Talk soon." He replied
We waved and ended the face time. I then set to work looking on YouTube for video ideas and putting them down in my notebook. I ordered a camera that would come tomorrow and I spent hours researching. I renamed my channel and got sorted. After hours of research, I had found lots of videos to do and tips on becoming famous on social media.
By then it was late. I watched Tristan's live again that night and enjoyed it. They then all ended and I went to sleep.
