Emily's P.O.V
Today was my big day. I was going to be the CEO of our company. More than me my parents were excited. They were so looking forward for it. Tonight was the event. Chris, Adam, Jess and Lexi all were gonna come.
Lately Chris and I were both busy in our work so couldn't meet but we used to facetime each other.
I wore maroon dress with a halter neckline. It was simple yet elegant dress for the party.
Today I was going with my parents so I would meet Chris directly at the party. And there was no prize to guess that he would look dashing.
My parents and I reached the venue. As usual there were hundreds of reporter. You know till now I am not used to these camera guys. They are so excited about there jobs!
Well but we have to pose for few and we did. After that we went inside. The hall was so huge. There were chandeliers hanging. So many lights, tables, people talking, inshort it was crowded. But I liked that so many people have come for my big day.
My eyes automatically began searching for my man. He must be with Adam and Jess.
There at one table I spotted Jess standing alone. I excused myself from my parents and went towards her.
"Hey Jess!"
"Hey Emily! You look lovely.!" She said while hugging me.
"Thank you. You look gorgeous too."
"Oh thanks."
"So where are the guys?"
"Adam and Chris went to get some drinks. They will be here soon."
"Thats great." I smiled.
"Well how are you feeling? You must be so excited. You know in high school
when I was going to become the head council, I was so excited. But here you are becoming a freaking CEO!!"
I laughed, " I am very excited for this. I have always dreamt of becoming a CEO. And today the dream is coming true. So I am really happy."
"You have worked hard. You deserve it honey." Jess said.
Adam and Chris came with the drinks.
"Em you look so beautiful!" Chris said and gave a kiss on my cheek.
"Thank you so much."
"Hey Emily."
"Hey Adam."
"So when is it going to be announced?" Chris asked.
"It will be in a few minutes. Dad will be doing that. Then I am going to give a speech. After that there will be dance, dinner and party over." I said in one breath.
"Calm down Em! You are nervous right?" Chris asked.
"Yes I am. So many people are there. I just want to be right for everyone."
Chris took my hand in his and said, Dont worry sweetheart, you are gonna rock!"
I placed a kiss on his lips.
"Aww. You guys!" Jess said and Adam chuckled.
"Alright now I have to go to dad. See you later guys." I said.
While I was finding dad, I bumped in someone, "Emily!"
"Lexi!!"
"Where the hell were you, I was finding you everywhere."
"Lexi I was with Chris and his friends.''
"Oh so now you forget your bestfriend." Lexi said showing fake anger.
"Will I ever forget you? Come on you silly girl give me a hug!" I said as I hugged her.
"Congrats Em. I am so proud of you!!"
"Thank youu. You have a seat. I have to find dad."
"Ohh he is there at right. See!" Lexi pointed at my dad.
"Ohk I will get going."
"Dad its time!" I said to him.
"Oh yes honey. Come on. Come at the front."
We moved forward. Dad went on to the stage while I stood in front.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I thank you all for coming to this event. It means a lot to me and to my daughter. As you all can see I am getting no younger these days, so I have decided to retire from my CEO position. And who else must be the best candidate when you have your daughter beside you! So here I announce new CEO of Collins and Co. is Emily Collins. I believe you will welcome her with all your heart as you welcomed me 30 years ago. Please give Emily rounds of applause."
I went on to the stage. I kissed my fathers cheek.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for coming tonight. I would like to thank my dad to believe in me that I can handle such a huge responsibility. Thank you dad, I love you. I would like to thank my mom and my sister Anna who everyday encouraged me to do better. I would like to mention one man who is very special to me, Chris. Thank you for being there for me always. My best friend Lexi for pushing me to do good things. At last I would like to thank each and everyone present here. I will put my best foot forward for you guys, for our company. Thank you."
After my speech I went down the stage, and was met by reporters.
Reporter 1: Mam how do you feel as CEO?
"Reporter 2: Ms. Collins who is Christopher Knight to you?
Reporter 3: Mam please here!
But some how I managed to escape. Not that I didnt want to answer them but I wanted to spend time with my family and friends.
"Honey, you were amazing!" My mom said hugging me.
"Thanks mom." I said smiling at her.
"Hey you girl. You were best!" Anna said.
"Thanks baby sis." I hugged her.
"Honey dad is talking with some business person he will meet you after words." My mom said.
"Thats okay mom. I am going to meet Chris. I ll just come."
I was searching for Chris, when I bumped at a person.I closed my eyes in fear as I was about to fall when that guy wrapped his hands around my waist and stopped me from falling.
When I opened my eyes, it was one and only Chris.
"I love you my woman." He said smiling.
"I love you too my man." I chuckled.
He pulled me up, now I was standing straight. Chris pecked my forehead and said,
"I am so proud of you baby!!"
"Thanks Chris. " I hugged him tightly. He wrapped his hands around my waist. We were enjoying the moment when Adam and Jess decided to intervine.
"Emilyy!" Jess came running and hugged me.
"Jess!" I hugged her back.
"You were amazing up there."
"Thanks a lot."
"Emily congratulations!!" Adam said while hugging me.
"Thank you Adam:)"
The host announced that everyone is invited for dance on the stage.
"May I have honour of dancing with this beautiful lady?" Chris asked.
"Yes!" I happily agreed and gave my hand in his.
We moved to the dance floor. Chris kept his right hand on my waist and I kept my right hand on his shoulder. Our left hands were interwined with each other. And we started dancing. Our faces were just inches apart. We were intently looing at each other.
"How am I so lucky to find a guy like you Chris?"
"You are mistaken. It is the other way around. I am lucky to find you sweetheart."
"I hate to compare but Liam never said such sweet things to me. Though he said he loved me, he was never attentive towards me. He never showed me that he loved me. He was always busy in his own world." I said softly.
"You deserve every best thing in the world baby. I will give you everything you deserve." Chris pecked my forehead.
I smiled at him.
Music stopped, and everyone clapped for us. We bowed down and left the stage.
And like this night came to an end with a huge smile on my face.
