Highschool sucks.

It's like immediately once walking into the doors all you see is judging eyes and mischievous smiles. You can't trust anyone, and that's exactly how Rosie felt.

All of her friends— well, she wouldn't exactly call them friends— were all deceitful devils. They all had a plan of ruin hiding behind their eyes. They would watch her every move like a snake watching and waiting for their pray to make a mistake.

She was on a thin piece of thread in that highschool, and they all were basically waiting for her to lose her balance and fall to her death so they could brag about it like demons bragging about themselves. No one would care if she actually lost her balance and plummeted to her death. Well, maybe her parents — especially her father— but not a single soul in this building would shed a tear. Yes, they might hang up posters, and reminders of the one lost soul. But they won't weep. They'll only post a picture of the girl, using the cry emoji as if it sells the lie as real.

It's not real.

No one cared. No one ever cared. But maybe that was a good thing.

"Rosie Joseph. Get to class. I don't want to see you in these empty halls again." The principle disciplined, pointing her way down the hall. Rosie took a deep breath, closing her locker with a loud thud and slowly beginning her way to class. She never heard the bell. She was to busy day dreaming a nightmare. However, this wasn't a nightmare. It was very well true.

"Oh my god, what are you wearing?" Tailey Smith let out a small mocking giggle, before patting the seat next to her.

"It's my dad's band." Rosie said quietly.

"Oh, that emo shit? Yeah... I'm so sorry for you. But it's okay, you're apart of our group that means you're a happy sunshine like us, right?" She smiled.

Funny, Rosie didn't think snakes could smile. She held back her comment, and smiled back. "Yeah, I don't get him sometimes."

Tailey sighed, leaning in to whisper, "You really shouldn't wear that here. People are going to think we're emo. And guys don't like that, trust me." Rosie sighed, nodding a little bit. "Do you want my jacket? You look cold."

Rosie snatched her jacket rougher than she intended, flinging it over her shoulders. She wasn't cold, and she knew Tailey didn't care if she was cold.

"Hey guys." Marisa Adams placed her plate down, and Rosie smiled at her red headed friend. Marisa was nice. She actually seemed to genuinely care about Rosie, and she didn't totally flip in disgust at what she was wearing, which was a bonus.

"Hey Mar." Rosie smiled, her white teeth radiating. Marisa scarfed down her mash potatoes as if they came from Sonny's. Rosie and Tailey scrunched their noses. They both 'Eww''d at the same time before laughing.

"How can you eat that shit?" Tailey said after holding back her giggles. "It smells like garbage."

Marisa rolled her eyes before taking a sip of her water. "I didn't have breakfast today." She smiled for a split second before frowning. "My mom and dad were fighting again."

Rosie furrowed her eyebrows in concern. "Aw, no. What happened?"

Marisa rolled her eyes, crossing her legs carelessly as if it wasn't a big deal. "My dad's just a dick to her sometimes."

Tailey pouted her lip as she reached over to touch Marisa's hand. "We're really sorry. If there's anything we can do we're here." Marisa nodded, looking over at Rosie with a half smile.

Rosie nodded, agreeing with Tailey, which was rare. The thing with Tailey is that she was always the most mean to Rosie. Rosie didn't understand it. She thought that maybe it was because she didn't fight back like the rest of the sassy girls and just took it with pride. Or maybe it was because her dad was a millionaire songwriter. However, she didn't feel like that was the case. Tailey seemed to hate Rosie's father and his music. She didn't understand why.

"Yeah, if I could go back to the day we met
I probably would just stay in bed
You run your mouth all over town"

Rosie lipped to Do Re Me as it played, slowly applying her brush to the canvas, beginning on her long adventure of creativity. She wasn't sure what she was painting. She decided to just wing it and see how it goes. If it's bad she could just fix it, it's not like she had anything better to do now that she was locked up in the house.

She had to pick up a ride from Tailey, who was her only 16 year old friend, because Tyler was to caught up downstairs in his studio to come get her. She didn't mind, cruising in Tailey's dad's car was enough to get her in a creative mood. That also meant she was able to listen to her music, without her dad totally barfing on the carpet.

"Of breaking glass on my Range Rover
Pay me back or bitch, it's over
All the presents I would send"

She chuckled at the curse word. For some reason, no matter how mature she got in her age she still found cuss words in songs funny.

"Okay... now I'm concerned." Tyler said as if he was certain of himself. He stopped in the doorway as he listened to the music. Rosie turned around, smiling at her father before continuing her artistic work.

"Hey, dad."

"Why do you listen to this crap? It gives me chills in all the wrong places." He seemed distracted by something, so Rosie decided to turn the music down slightly. He was probably dazed by the music. "Hey... I'm sorry I couldn't pick you up. I'm glad you got home safe."

Rosie nodded. "Tailey brought me home." She explained, wiping her brush on her paper towel before dipping it in another paint.

Tyler sighed, walking over and watching his daughter paint. "Y'know, I don't know about this Tailey girl. She just seems so... so-"

"Bitchy?" Rosie asked, and Tyler hushed her.

"Language, girl."

"I know, but there's no other word to explain it." Rosie placed her brush down, pulling her full attention to Tyler.

Tyler crossed his arms, his head raising the slightest bit in some sort of confusion. "Then why do you hang out with her?"

Rosie thought of answering, but she knew she couldn't tell the truth unless if she said 'because she's the only person willing to hang out with me.' So she stayed silent, picking up her brush and continuing her work. Tyler sighed quietly as he watched her paint a few strokes. "What are you painting?"

"My mind." Rosie answered.

"It looks like a forest."

"And a forest is full of things isn't it?" Rosie looked at her father with a small smile and wise eyes. Tyler couldn't help but let a smile creep on his face as well.

"That is true, Ro." Tyler agreed. "Although," he began, "no forest I've ever seen has a cute guy roaming around."

Rosie held back a laugh. "Do you see a cute guy in this painting, dad?" She asked obviously.

Tyler scoffed. "No, but I know there's one roaming your mind. Or is that just in guy's minds?"

"You think of cute guys?" Rosie laughed, and Tyler shook his head.

"No! We think of cute girls—well, unless if it's Josh."

"Oh, right. Yeah, he's the cutest guy in my mind and dreams too." Rosie teased, and Tyler scrunched his nose.

"Ro! You're my daughter! You can't think my best friend is cute, it's forbidden."

"Someone jealous?" Rosie taunted, grabbing her brush and brushing it against his arm. Tyler jumped back slightly, before looking down at his now bluish colored arm. He looked up at her, narrowing his eyes.

"C'mon Ro. Be professional. You can't have a paint fight with your dad." Tyler crossed his arms with a smug smirk on his face. Rosie raised an eyebrow as if to dare him. Tyler quickly grabbed one of her other brushes with paint on it and poked her with it. "But you can with a friend." He concluded as he dashed across the room and up the stairs before she could paint on him again. She followed quickly with her paint brush ready to take charge and 'destroy' her opponent.
