Red and blue lights filled the Barbers living room as i sat with my head in my hands.Jacobs fingerprint was found on Bens tag on his jacket.
I know that he didnt kill him,that not in his nature.
"Y/n do you have any idea where Jacob could be?" Duffy asked as i looked up slowly,shaking my head
Theyd been calling non stop for the past 10
Mintues.
"Y/n can you try and call him?" Andy asked,sitting next to me
"No" i mumbled
"Why not?" An angry police officer came over
"I cant rat out on my best friend for something he didnt do"
"Miss l/n,his fingerprint was found on-" one officer began but I interrupted
"That doesnt mean shit!" I shouted getting up
"Y/n" Andy warned,he knew i could get angry in tense situations like this.i sat back down
"Jacob will be in less trouble if you just call him out now"
"Will he be arrested?" I quietly said looking up
"No,we just need to ask him some questions" duffy said,my eyebrows knitted together as i sighed.
I grabbed my phone and pressed his contact.
It took 2 rings before he answered
"Hello?" He mumbled quietly
"Hey jake" i smiled,hearing his voice
"C-can you come here i-im s-scared" he almost chocked on his words.tears streamed down my face.
"I-i cant" i mumbled.i couldnt do that to him.
"Why Y/n? I need you" he seemed terrified.
"Im sorry" i whispered into the phone before hanging up.
"I cant do it" i dropped my phone in my lap
"Y/n you need to be strong for us" Laurie put her hand on my leg.
"He'll hate me" more tears streamed down my face
I got out of their grip and ran upstairs to Jakes room.
"Y/n!" Andy shouted as i slammed Jakes door.
The smell of him lingered in the room,calming me almost instantly.
He must be terrified,a whole swarm of officers partolling the area looking for him.i cant believe i hung up on him.
I grabbed my phone from my Jean pocket and rung him
"Jake?" I whispered so no one could hear me
"J-" i was forwarded to voicemail.
"Nonono" i panicked pressing call again,getting put to voicemail again.
Andy came in
"Come on,were going to the police station" my heart dropped to my stomach,i knew he'd gotten caught
We got in the car and i stared out the window
"You okay y/n?" laurie turned to the back to check on me
I nodded slowly,still staring out the window at the cold night.
When we arrived we were put in my room with a table.
I paced back and forth
"Y/n please sit down he'll be here in a minute" Andy told me
I didnt listen and paced until the door opened.an officer had brought Jacob in and undid his cuffs.
I was the first to engulf him in a massive hug.he quickly hugged back.him being taller,his chin rested on top of my hair.
"They said i cant go home" Jake said,letting go of me and hugging his parents.we all sat down.
"No not tonight but theres going to be an arragement first thing in the morning" Andy reassured Jake.
"I dont even know what that is" looking down at his lap
"Its just a proceeding.theyre going to read the charge,theyre gunna set the bail and then we'll take you right home" i reached out and put my hand over his.he looked up at me and smiled.
"Are you sure?" he looked at his dad
"Absolutely.youll be home by dinner,i give you my word" Andy smiled at him,trying to calm him down.
"How much is bail" i asked
"I dont know well find that out tomorrow" Laurie answered,reaching out to put her hand on top of mine.
"What if we cant afford it? What happens to me then?" Jacob panicked
"Well find the money,weve got saving and-"
"Yeh but what if-" but i cut him off
"Ive got some savings-" but i then got cut off by Andy
"No well find the money dont worry"
"Im sorry-im so sorry,i didnt-i didnt do it" Jake began to sob
"Hey,hey we know you didnt" i wrapped my arms around his neck,soothing him.
"I know im not the perfect kid or anything,but i didnt do it" his voice cracked,breaking my heart.
"You are perfect Jake" i smiled while getting lost in his gorgeous bluey-green eyes.
"I didnt even know ben,he was just this kid from school" he started
"Why would i kill him? Why would they think that?" The panic in his eyes broke my heart in two.
"Maybe because of what Derek said" my brows knitted together once i said it,thinking more deeply.
"I dont know" Andy breathed out
"What do you mean,this is your case" Jacob sounded more agressive then before.he didnt get the answer he wanted though.
"Did you tell the arresting officer that you found bens body?" Andy asked,Jacob nodded
"And didnt tell us?" Laurie continued.i looked down,Hed told me the day before.
"Did you tell y/n?" Jake looked away
"Did you?" Andy sounded more angry this time.his parents looked Back and forth between us
"Yes i did" i finally gave in.
"Why didnt you tell us?" Andy asked
"I thought-you know-i might get in trouble or something"
"Why would you get im trouble?"
"Can we please stop quizzing him,hes clearly scared" i squeezed his hand tighter
"I know,I know" Laurie repeated quietly,letting a tear slip down her face
"Mom please dont cry" Jake croaked.she then wiped her eyes,trying to be brave infront of her son.
"Jake i need you to listen to me okay.dont say anything to anyone else about this okay? Both of you" Andy told us.
"I mean it,not a word until we get home then we can talk about this-" he was interrupted by the sound of a knock on the door.we all turned to look at it.
"Your leaving me? Theyre not going to let you stay?" He panicked,going over to grab me so i cant leave.
"Us three will meet you at the courthouse first thing in morning" Andy started
"Well have a lawyer and well have-"
"Why cant you be my lawyer?" Jake argued
"No i cant,for a number of reasons its not a good idea"
Another knock came from the door and Jake grabbed me tighter.two officers came through the door trying to handcuff him.
"No no" i sobbed into his chest
"They told me that he wasnt being arrested" i choked out,a bug lump forming in my throat.
"Come on Y/n well see him tomorrow" we were ripped apart.tears rolled down his face as he stayed staring at me as he was taken away
"No no no" i sobbed more as we exited the room.once the door shut behind us i dropped to the floor in a pool of tears.
