I almost moaned at the creamy liquid that dripped down my lip and swirled around the tip of my tongue
A slurping sound echoed through the dark apartment walls. The lights were dim to set the mood perfectly. I placed it in my mouth and slurped the juices down my throat again
"Dang bitch, it's just Ramens" Ethan looked at me with his nose scrunched up. I rolled my eyes and placed the bowl onto the glass table we had
What? What did you think it was? Ya nasty
"I haven't eaten all day, let me enjoy my Ramens" I pouted
"Couldn't you catch a break today to get some lunch?" he asked
"Nope, the diner has been packed everyday since they heard about the movie that's been shot nearby"
"It amazes me how people scurry out their houses just to stand in the hot sun, hoping they'll get a glimpse of some hot celebrity" He rolled his eyes
"It's just the way the world works Ethan, a photo with a high class celebrity could really boost your followers and even your brand" I smiled
"So have you seen the 'oh so problematic badgirl' come by yet?"
Ah yes, the badgirl. Rumors
Rumor has it that Autumn Hester is in town, Autumn is the kind girl that made it big as a child actress and was immediately signed off to big movie companies. Her childhood was robbed of her since she spent most of her days acting in films or shows. As a person grows under so much pressure and unhappiness, they turn into demons. It was bound to happen at some point.
Unfortunately she walked that line and became the bitchiest of them all
Autumn was known as the 'bad girl' in Hollywood. Her reputation was stained the day someone captured a video of her yelling at the flight attendant on a plane, then she punched his lights out and her career went south with the man's brain damage. Yeah he really needed surgery for that
But in the end, that reputation threw her name onto more magazines than Beyonce and Kylie combined. She was known as the power teen, the kind of person to cut your neck off with her words but have talent overflowing in her body
There's rumors that she's in town to film a secret project, many are going around the Studio and parading at the gates, hoping to get a photo or an autograph with the girl.
I work at a diner just a few buildings away from the studio, all actors and actresses who made movies in the studio had walked into the diner to relax for a bit. The diner was always busy since people came everyday, in hopes of catching a celebrity sipping some hot coffee or munching on some strawberry cheesecake but this week has been more hectic since rumors of Autumn filming a new movie was going around
People piled into the diner all day everyday, hoping to get a picture with the girl. Which I think is pointless because I doubt she'd talk to anyone, she'd probably break their camera and spit in their face. But that's my assumption.
I wasn't that fond of her either way, sure she was a good actress and all but that didn't mean she had to behave that way. I saw once she kicked her own brother in the knees because he smiled too long for a photo. She was disrespectful in my eyes.
"Are you heading back to the diner!?" Ethan asked
Ethan Jones, my best friend and roomate for two years now. We met at the beginning of our actors camp and now we're both ambitious for the real world. However fucked up it may be.
"Unfortunately I have to. Izzie called in sick so Jamie is the only one covering the floor tonight. Marie said she'd pay me double if I came back tonight" I chuckled
"Kate, you're going to run your energy into the ground" Ethan groaned and sunk into the side of the sofa
His back pressed against the arm rest and his feet found its way onto my lap, I gave him a glare but he simply sinirked
"I know but I need the money since ONE of us was late on last month's rent" I glared
"Oh my God. Who was it, you should kick them out. They sound toxic" Ethan chuckled
"If you find your superman boxers out on the gate, just remember this conversation we're having right now" I chuckled
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Don't test me Ethan" I smiled
"Shut up you bottom, you won't do shit" He smirked
"I... "
"Exactly, now hush and go work so I can spend your money on food and roblox gift cards" He smiled and used his feet to kick me forward
"I don't know why we're friends"
"Because you found me out on the road, soaken wet and you took me in like the dumbass you are. Didn't your mother told you not to invite demons into the house?" he smirked
"I... I didn't know my mother" I pouted
"Exactly. That's why yo mama deaaddd. Dead as hell"
"You have three mothers and a father that doesn't know you exist, do you really wanna start this fight?"
"I hate you sometimes" He pouted
"I know" I chuckled and dusted myself off, standing to my feet
"You're heading over there now!?" he asked
"Early shift, the sooner the better" I mumbled and found my keys on the coffee table
"Want me to come with? I could keep you company" He smiled
"Oh because you don't have anything else to do here" I glared
"I'm an actor sweetheart, of course I have nothing to do" Ethan chuckled and hopped off the sofa
"I. Am. Offended"
"Stay mad sis" Ethan snickered and made his way over towards the door, pulling it open and revealing the downpour of rain
"Guess we'll need an umbr-"
"Got it" Ethan smiled
I glanced at him to see the boy holding a clear umbrella in his hands, he hooked his arm around my shoulder and we headed out the apartment
The pitter patter of the rain creates a shield around me. I love the rain, I always have. The silver puddles create an obstacle course that only the bravest of us battle.
The sky is grey today, I mean everything is some form of grey, it always has been on days like this. I sometimes wonder what colour things are when it's raining. Maybe they aren’t. Maybe there is only black and white and different shades of in between. That ‘in between’ the space of wonder, of mystery, is a place that I love. I wonder what goes on outside my world of grey on rainy days.
"So how are your auditions going?" I asked when we reached the car
It wasn't anything big and fancy like all the others down the street, Hollywood was known for its luxury, sometimes I wonder what happens to the ones didn't make it that big
"I have an audition for this ship wreck film tomorrow.
"A ship wreck?" I questioned
"Yeah, they're terrible films but atleast it pays. It's either that or go work on the corner" Ethan groaned
"I'd definitely pay to see that" I smirked
"Oh I'm sure you'd love to see my phat juicy ass in a mini skirt, bending over into your car and asking for $50 for an awesome night" He chuckled
"That's hot"
"Shut up" he glared
"Jamie said she's saving up to buy a car" I mumbled
"Which car?"
"A car that doesn't break down everytime she starts it" I snickered
"Well good for her"
Storms came to quench the earth that communed with the beech tree roots, the soil that held blessed water until it could be given to its sweet leaves, each of them shaped as a raindrop heaven-bound.
"Damn, it's pouring out here. Be careful" Ethan mumbled as he furrowed his brows, concentrating on the weather
The clouds that gathered, a silver-fade, from the strongest of grey to soft whites, have command of the skies today. Yet what they promise is life-giving rain for the parched soil and a chance for new seeds to grow. I always loved the rain, there was something about it that placed my mind at ease.
The way they fell always intrigued me, such random patters, not knowing where their future was set. They came when no one expects it, they drench the soil and melt the heat. I couldn't help but smile when a few patterns ran down the windshield wipers
But unfortunately, my attention was on the rain and not on the road I was driving on
"KATE, WATCH OUT!" Ethan screamed
My eyes widened and I immediately jumped out of my daze, Even if I had been paying attention I would have been hard pressed to make the manoeuvre. As it was I barely had time to scream before the seatbelt knocked me back and sideways. My feet slammed against the brake in attempt to avoid hitting the car before me. Ethan and I's body jolted backwards and our head slammed against the car seat
Silence; it scared me more than the pain at the back of my head. Shouldn't I be moaning or calling out? A sharp pain ran through my ear as I brushed my finger against it.
"Holy shit, are you okay!?" Ethan asked as he unhooked his seatbelt, leaning over into my seat
"I'm fine" I mumbled and slipped the belt out of my grasp
"Let me go check on the people in front" Ethan said before slipping out the car
I barley found to will to move, leaning over to the hood of the car and seeing nothing damaged. Thank God
"Are you guys okay?" I heard Ethan's muffled voice through the car
I even noticed the car I almost ran into was a matte black and gold GTR. God that would have been expensive to repair. I almost slapped myself to being distracted. Either way, someone was still in that car in front and surely they were panicking out of their minds
The panic grew stronger in my veins when realization finally hits. I almost crashed into someone. As my mental faculties gave way to emotions. I wanted to jump right out of my skin and join the ether.
My hands gripped the lock and I immediately hopped out the car, it was my fault. It was all my fault. My heart pounded against my chest as I slowly approached the vehicle in front of me.
I felt just like a child again, shaking, terrified. The constricted feelings grew, as if I was strangled by just the air about me.
"What the HELL is wrong with both of you!" the person hissed
"I'm so soo sorry, I got distracted for two secon-"
"I don't care. I swear if you only grazed my car I won't hesitate to cut you!" they hissed
I furrowed my brows and tilted my head to the side, is that a threat or a response to almost reaching into a car accident? In the corner of my eyes, I even see Ethan giving me a questioning look
"I didn't hit anything I promise, I'm sorry that it happened. I just want to make sure you're okay" I said again
"I'll be okay when you leave me alone" they hissed, I furrowed my brows even closer
"Are... Are you sure you're okay?" I asked again
"Are you blind or deaf!? I said leave!" she hissed again
"Okay you don't have to be rude. I'm sorry, we'll leave" I mumbled and glanced in Ethan's direction, nodding towards the car so we could leave
"Whatever. Just move" She hissed again, her hand gripped her steering wheel and her feet aimed towards the gas
"Oh.. Okay sorry" I mumbled again, slowly stepping away from the car. I still hadn't seen the person's face yet since I didn't get the chance to lean over
"Blind Dumbass bitch" she muttered under her breath
Wha- did I just hear right?
My knuckles then turned white from clenching my fist too hard, and gritted teeth from effort to remain silent, my hunched form exuded an animosity that was like acid - burning, slicing, potent.
"What did you just call me!?" I snapped
Ethan heard the anger in my voice and his eyes went wide, he immediately found his way over to my side of the car, standing behind me
"Did I stutter? I called you a blind dumbass FUCKING bitch" she stated again
My face was red with suppressed rage, and when Ethan even set a finger on my shoulder, I leaned down to the car window and let off my control
"WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!" I hissed, my hands reached into the car, trying to grab onto anything
I felt hands wrap around my from behind as Ethan tried to pull me away from attacking the person
"Kate, KATE LET GO!" he yelled
"NO! I'M GONNA MAKE THIS BITCH REGRET THE NIGHT HER FATHER DIDN'T WEAR A CONDOM"
But she wasn't phased by any of it, she just laughed. This bitch Just laughed-
"Everyone knows who I am sweetheart" she said once again
It was only in that moment my eyes went wide and I became star struck. Words left me. I stared into those dark eyes that was once burning with anger but now showed nothing by amusement and my heart fell silent
Her hair was wavy black, eyes dark figure a perfect hour glass. I was dumbfounded and captured by her beauty within second. Her face came closer so I could see her high cheek bones and that daring smirk on her lips. She stopped right in front of her, her lips and noses just inches away, my breath hitched in my throat. She was like a magazine cut-out dropped onto the sidewalk
"Yo-you're Autumn Hester" I whispered, swallowing a lump in my throat when she refused to pull away
Her eyes were piercing through my coffee brown ones, examining every inch and every second of my own emotions.
"And you're the blind dumbass bitch who tried to run me over" She stated with no emotion in her voice
It was then my anger came back, Every word stung only fueling the fire that burned inside of me. Every violated phrase was like gasoline to it, my fists began to clench and my jaw rooted.
When the final mento had been added to the coke inside of me I exploded with anger.
"WHY YOU FUCKING BI-" I yelled and reached my hand out again to grab onto her but she chuckled when Ethan pulled me away
Her feet slammed onto the gas and smoke filled the area where her car once was. The engine of her car roared through the streets and disappeared with brown fallen leaves flying in the dust. Ethan finally let go out my waist as he slowly backed away, my heart continued to pound out of my chest.
Autumn Hester. I just met Autumn Hester. I almost ran over Autumn Hester. But God her personality was garbage. I've never wanted to scramble someone's head like eggs and fry it.
Maybe I shouldn't have pressed on my brakes. I should have ruined that precious car of hers that she almost hit a puppy with two days ago.
