To whoever finds this journal,
Im Sydney, an eighth grade student in Ohio. This journal will tell my story going through the Pandemic
The day started like any other, wake up and go to school. I had now idea what was to come. I heard the governor would make an announcement around 3 about some virus, but I wasn't concerned. As far as I knew, corona was some stupid flu. Thats where I was wrong. The day went on with no problems. Boring class after boring class. Counting down the hours as they passed until I could leave. Well, by leave I mean go to rehearsal. We had a play in a week that we had been working on for a while. Cant say I had too important of a role though. Just like with the play, Ive always been sort of a background character, a supporting role. Anyway, I was finally in my last class with about 10 minutes to go. I heard the class across the hallway start cheering but I paid no attention. I looked up at the clock, 3..2...1.....DING. Class over. I stack my chair like normal and I'm about to leave when I hear my teacher say something about school cancelling for the next few weeks. I was dead worried. They cant do this! We have performance in a week! Everyone else seemed to be excited about school cancelling, everyone except me and the other theater students that is. I was practically running to rehearsal that day, only to find that no one was in the cafe like normal, they were all gathered outside the cafeteria instead. I asked around with no luck of getting any info. At one point I freaked out about potentially missing the bus in case rehearsal was cancelled so, I left. On the bus ride home all I could think or even talk about was the play. Will it be rescheduled? Will it even still happen? I was so caught in the moment that I didn't even think for a second that things could get worse.
