Puzzles solved
Rin's POV
We came upon a lake, and sat down on the grass. I had so many questions I wanted to ask, such as,
How did you know my mother?
What relationship did you have with her?
What kind of person was she?
And so on.
"So, what did you want to talk about?" He questioned.
"First, I would like to know your name." I answered.
"Ah, my bad. My name is Gildarts." He laughed awkwardly.
I nodded, "I wanted to ask how you know my mother?"
He looked into the lake, "I knew her because I once loved her."
'That was a short answer.' I sweat-dropped.
"Well, grandfather did say mother had a lot of guys after her." I replied.
He laughed, "Yeah, they were a bunch of pain in the ass."
I just stared at the insect on the ground.
"So, why did you come to this town?" Gildarts looked over at me.
I hugged my legs, "I don't know."
"What do you mean, you don't know?" He asked.
"Grandfather told me to find the guild in Magnolia. Afterwards, the piece that was unsolved will be solved." I answered.
Gildarts looked confused, but moved along, "If it isn't a bother, do you mind answering who your father is?"
I shrugged, "Don't know and don't care."
Before Gildarts could say anything, I interrupted, "Say, do you know about the story The princess and the witch?"
"No, what's it about?"
There once was a small princess.
Being hated and looked down on by others as she walked.
Listening to every rules and orders by her grandfather.
Acting like a doll in front of others, to please her only family member.
She endured everything, and kept quiet, like a doll.
Her fear was losing her only family member.
She endured when her grandfather got drunk,
saying everything was her fault,
that if she wasn't born, her mother would still be alive.
Listening to these rants for three years,
being choked by her only light,
the princess had enough, she wanted this pain to disappear.
She thought, "Why is this happening to me?"
"I listened to everything, every rules, orders, expectations."
"I just want a normal family, just love and affection."
"If this is what it takes to be a royal, I don't want it."
"Is that too much to ask for?"
She ran out of the palace, into the deep woods.
Crying and screaming her pain away.
Hearing a rumor that a witch lives in the deep woods,
the princess had hope.
"Hello?"
"Is anybody here?"
The princess shouted, looking around for any signs.
"Please, I will do anything!" The princess cried.
"What do you desire?" The trees spoke out.
"I want these bad memories to go away."
"Your soul, give me your soul in return." The trees answered.
"I don't care, just let this suffering end. Please." The princess weeped.
Days has passed, and yet her haunting memories still resided.
She went back to the forest, calling out at the witch.
"You lied!" The princess screamed.
"My memories are still haunting me in my dreams."
"Stupid princess, your memories can't disappear." The trees mocked.
"If you cannot move on, your memories will haunt you until you die." The witch announced.
Before the princess could protest,
it was too late.
The princess had became a emotionless doll,
dancing away her tears as she danced for the witch
like a marionette.
3rd POV
Gildarts eyes widened, "Poor princess, what happened next?"
"That's a story I will tell next time." Rin replied.
"Say, do you know anything about your dad?" Gildarts asked.
She stayed quiet for a second, thinking before answering him.
"So far, what I know is that mother passed away when giving birth to me. Grandfather said that my mom was in a beautiful place called Heaven and that my father is a strong wizard who fights bad people and animals so that I can be safe." Rin explained.
"Apparently, grandfather banned my dad to be with my mom. He thought that my dad liked my mom for wealth but he said he was wrong. Grandfather said that he regretted that decision even til this day." Rin finished.
Gildarts looked shock.
'Then, Aveline was pregnant with my child? Rin is my daughter?' Gildarts was in total shock.
Rin looked up at the sky, with no emotions, "Now that I think about it, I think grandfather had kicked me out to find my father."
"Not that I care now." Rin scoffed.
Gildarts just observed her, listing while putting the puzzles in together.
"You know, your dad never hated you." Gildarts spoke out of the blue.
The winds blew softly as Gildarts softly hugged his daughter, crying.
Rin eyes widened, she was surprised.
"I didn't know Aveline was pregnant. If I did, I would have been with you." Gildarts cried out.
Rin didn't know what to do. She was confused with her own feelings.
Happiness
Sadness
Anger
Hatred
Relief
It was all just a confusing feelings and emotions for her.
"After your grandfather banned me, I went back to Fairy Tail and went on S-class missions. But I didn't know she was pregnant. Please trust me. If I knew, even if I was banned, I would have went there to see you." Gildarts smiled, breaking from the hug.
To his surprise, Rin was not smiling.
"It's too late." Rin spoke.
'What am I saying?' She thought.
Gildarts was confused, "What?"
"I was alone for 13 years, with no family affection what so ever." Rin answered.
"So, I don't need you being all fatherly." Rin finished, leaving Gildarts shocked.
'No, that's not what I want to say.' She fought.
"What do you mean, alone for 13 years?"
Rin stared at him, "I mean what I said."
Rin stood up, about to leave. But Gildarts grabbed her wrist, "You're going to leave?"
Rin nodded her head, "Don't waste my time and I don't waste yours. Seems simple enough."
"After all, my puzzles are solved now. There is no need for me to stay any longer." She finished.
Gildarts wanted to stay with her more, get to know her, "C-Can you at least visit Fairy Tail sometimes?"
Rin just stood there, watching her father beg.
"It doesn't have to be a lot. I just want to see you and talk."
"Why?" Rin asked, actually confused.
"I want to make up for not being with you all these years." Gildarts smiled sadly.
"Alright, if you want to make up to me. Stick onto me like a dog." Rin stared down at him.
"Really?!" Gildarts smiled again.
"Ah, do you have a place to stay in Magnolia?" Gildarts got up.
Rin was still frozen from his action, "Yeah."
"Wait, why don't you visit Fairy Tail tomorrow too?" Gildarts got closer to her.
Rin just nodded, still startled by his actions, and walked away.
