The Septuplets Arrive

2.5K 149 30
By AliceCourtneyHatcher

Credit for the above photo to the McCaughey's - born 1997, the first known septuplets to all survive!

Complete fortunate coincidence that the genders are what I wanted for my story too!

Give me, give me, give me your comments and feedback 😉

************************************************
When Axel rang Dr. Phil and Mak to postpone their night out and explained the reason why, the elders were both ecstatic knowing the septs were on their way. Doc had to remind Sang that as she was to have a Caesarean birth there was no need to wait for the contractions to get closer together, with her waters broken she should head straight to the hospital so they could prep her for the operation.

So less than an hour later, Sang found herself sitting on the bed in her birthing suite listening to Phil and Dr Sam walk her team through the C Section process while a nurse was poking her hand with a needle to insert her cannula to keep her hydrated, drugged up and if necessary get blood in her should she experience excessive blood loss during the operation. Corey and Marc were eyeing up the needle entering her hand with slightly green faces and grimaces. Sang was amused at their queasiness. The little darlings had better prepare themselves, things were about to get much messier than this!

Technically the doctor's spiel was for her, but Sang knew exactly what was about to happen so she was much more interested in keeping watch over the faces of her family in case they became over stressed about what she would go through to birth the septs, particularly Iris. As anticipated, her sister was unsuccessfully trying to hide that she was panicking. To be fair, she was fooling the distracted men so far but she couldn't mask her distress from her twin. Sang's heart pinched in sadness at her sister's fear of losing her in child birth.

The white noise from the doctor's explanation came to an abrupt end as Sang realised her doctors and family were no longer speaking but looking at her for an answer to a question she hadn't been paying attention to. The nurse, a pretty Latino lady of 25 who went by the name Lina, a friendly colleague of Sang's, was turned away tidying the medical refuge, shoulders shaking in laughter that Phil or Sam thought for a second Sang would have been listening to explanations of a process she was proficient at giving to patients herself.

'Did you catch all of that, sweetheart?' Phil repeated his question dryly raising his eyebrows at her making her realise that he at least was aware she'd zoned out of the medical talk,

'Sure I understand the Caesarian procedure, I'll be aware but a bit out of it. Only two are permitted to be with me in the OR (operating room). You and Dr Sam will be opening me up to get the babies out and there will be a specialist surgeon on stand by in case there are any unexpected problems requiring two sets of hands. There will also be two multiples newborn baby specialists in the OR for when the septs are pulled from my womb to give them the Apgar test and provide any other care the babies may require. Did I miss anything?' Phil grumped at Sang's dead pan expression,

'No that about covers it,'

Sang noticed Iris beginning to hyperventilate quietly in her shadowed corner,

'Can you all give Iris and me a minute alone, please?' Sang asked innocently. The request brought Iris' unusual behaviour to Mak's attention but Sang's request cleared the room, himself included, as the crowd leaving caught him in its momentum. His look to Sang said, I'm not happy about this and we'll be talking about it later. Sang also caught the self recrimination on Mak's face at himself for not realising Iris was acting out of character before he was herded out the door. One problem at a time she sighed internally before focusing on her twin whose face reflected her atypical vulnerability and fear now that she didn't need to pretend otherwise.

'Come here, sis,' Sang spoke gently, holding her arms out to Iris who, for the first time since Sang had met her, was in tears,

'What if something happens to you in there, sissy? I just got you,' Iris' sad, whispery voice was just loud enough to be heard as she folded herself into her sister's arms. Sang hugged her tightly,

'I've never lied to you before and I won't start now; there is risk in every surgery. But Iris you know I'm strong and I have the absolute best doctors and surgeons on my medical team.' Sang gripped her sister's chin,

'I have everything to live for. I don't plan on going anywhere today but the nursery afterward to hold my babies, even if I have to sit down with a pillow on my lap to do it!' Iris gave a small laugh at her twin's c section humour. She climbed up on the bed lying next to Sang for a proper cuddle, despite it being against the rules to be on a hospital bed with a patient.

After five minutes of comfortable silence between them, Sang could feel some of the tension seep out of Iris' body.

'What are you thinking about, sissy,' Iris asked quietly. Sang gave her sister an arch look,

'You really want to know?' Iris nodded earnestly,

'Promise not to judge me?' Iris gave her sister an offended, indignant expression that Sang giggled at quietly,

'I'm wondering which one or ones of the Blackbourne men are my babies' biological father or fathers,' Sang chortled,

'That sounds bad, doesn't it?' Iris snickered regaining some of her sass,

'I think it makes you sound like a lucky, lucky girl!'

Both sisters exploded in laughter causing the hospital room door to open with a bang as their eight men, fathers and boyfriends alike hovered inside the door frame checking that all was well along with the perplexed Dr Sam,

'For the love of tiny green apples! Iris, get off Sang's bed before the nurses see you,' Dr Phil actually yelped at them, looking fearful at the prospect of dealing with the no nonsense sister and nurses of the maternity ward. Sang personally thought they were all lovely but Phil had insisted that those ladies were only sweet to pregnant women, otherwise they were sarcastic, over zealous enforcers of the rules and just mean in general. Sang had laughed at him and called him out for his bullshit - he was just sore the maternity nurses didn't bow down to his lofty doctor self and that they made him follow his own rules. Phil had scowled at Sang's cheek before shrugging his shoulders at her accurate assessment.

Iris sat up to find all six Toma's holding out a hand to help her up. She smiled with catlike contentment at their chivalry as they all found a spot to grab and collectively pulled her off of the bed,

'Thanks fellas.'

Sang knew she would be wheeled out to the OR in the next ten minutes and there were a couple of Academy issues she wanted to discuss before her babies' being born took all of her attention,

'Mak did you talk with Phil about purchasing a different Ghost team house in another city?' The Ghost team and Mak had met for lunch yesterday and the subject of Richard Andrews came up. Sang was not comfortable that the ex chairman of the board knew where the new Ghost team's house was located. When she expressed her concern to Mak, he'd been irritated with himself and Phil for not having thought of the potential risk to the team's security and anonymity themselves. He promised they'd correct the issue straight away,

'Ja.' (Yes.) Phil and Mak exchanged a guarded look but before they could go on, Sang continued,

'Iris and I would like to pay for the house and property ourselves.' Sang's tone of voice was gentle but unyielding at the same time as Iris took Sang's hand and they presented the men with a united front. Mak and Phil waited patiently for her to explain their reasons while the Tomas exchanged silent communication between themselves.

What do you suppose they are up to, Axe? Corey looked at their team lead. Axel's expression was stoic and uncomfortable,

Avoiding debt for the new team.

We will not let spitfire and firecracker pay for Ghost house on their own, was Raven's rock hard response.

We may not be Victor or Owen Blackbourne rich, but we've got plenty toward whatever we need, Brandon grumbled.

Agreed said Kevin, Marc and Axel as one.

'We don't want our new team to be owing favours and debt to the Academy when we can easily afford to pay for it ourselves.' Sang stated bluntly. Axel grunted, pleased he'd followed their logic even though he and his brothers had no intention of allowing their birds to foot that bill alone.

'But that is not our only reason,' this caught everyone's attention, 'If we purchase the house ourselves, the expenditure will not have to be approved by the board and then we will be able to conceal our exact location from them.' Iris and Sang shared a dark look,

'We are not convinced that there isn't still an intel leak from the board.' Sang held up her hand for silence when Mak and Phil started to reply, frustrated that the girls hadn't disclosed their concerns sooner, 'It isn't that we think the board members are moles exactly, just that somewhere in their systems and processes it's probable someone outside the Academy has hacked open a 'back door' and is accessing confidential intel.' Sang's face became stony and rigid,

'I will not take any risks where my family and children are concerned. So we only allow general knowledge of the location of our home to anyone outside of our circle of trust.' Iris suddenly realised that what Dr Phil had told her would happen with Sang assuming unofficial control of leadership decisions within the Ghost team was unfolding in front of her right now.

There was silence as everyone processed what Sang had said,

'Mak, Phil, that means that after the babies are born, we tell the Tomas everything about the threats Alena warned us to be prepared for too,' Sang and Iris shared a look of worry as they noticed the Tomas stiffen.

What does that mean? Marc looked at Axel and Brandon.

Our birds have been hiding important security risks from us, Axel growled.

Raven looked murderous.

Corey's face showed sadness, They haven't really been trusting us.

Sang and Iris were grieved to see their men were hurt and angry by their exclusion from full disclosure,

'Please don't misunderstand,' Sang reached her hand toward the Tomas in contrition, 'Iris and I love you now. But when we first received and read the letter from Iris' mother, at the dinner the night we all first came together, we didn't know you well enough then to share the contents of that letter with you. Things have changed, we are a true team now and our personal relationships have also evolved so much so that we feel safe enough to share everything with you. We do trust you.'

Axel's unfisted his hands. As much as he hated knowing their birds had kept secrets, he had to admit their logic was sound. It would have been foolhardy to put themselves at risk until they were sure of his team's loyalty and intention toward them. Axel looked at his brothers for his team's thoughts.

Brandon shuffled restlessly, his eyes downcast before he looked at his team liaison.

I feel like an unreasonable douche that I'm upset that the girls have hidden things from us. They were right to be sure of us before sharing. I know that is the truth but with our experiences of Kayli hiding things from us that hurt our family, I'm really struggling with feeling used and even though it's unfair, I'm still angry with them.

The rest of the boys nodded. Brandon had summed their feelings up perfectly. It wasn't their birds' fault that Kayli had hurt them in exactly the same place prior to their relationship with the twins but it didn't change how they felt about what Iris and Sang had done.

The girls had followed and understood the Tomas unspoken conversation and it stung them both hard that they'd unintentionally hurt the men they'd come to love in the trust department - exactly where Kayli had caused such destruction. For the first time the twins thought perhaps their loves might not be able to get past feeling that the girls didn't trust them fully.

'We understand,,' Sang's sad eyes enveloped the conflicted Tomas as Iris squeezed her hand in comfort, 'Iris and I could not have done anything differently but we get that you were affected badly by what can only be seen from your perspective as a lack of trust and honesty on our part.' Sang looked at Phil and Mak beseechingly as she tried to convey the issue to them both without causing more pain then they already had,

'We'll all sit down after the babies are born and you can let us know whether you can still be a team with us or not.' Sang was determined to avoid making this breech about Iris' and her pain and was taking undetectable shallow breaths to control and disguise her desire to cry. Iris squeezed her hand again to remind her that she wasn't alone in her feelings.

'What?!' Axel's voice was quiet but it felt as though he'd shouted the word in the funereal atmosphere of the hospital room,

'Yes we are hurt and upset, but this is a hiccup in our team and relationship not something we can't or don't want to overcome! Why would you even think we wouldn't want to move forward with you two?'

Two tears forced their way through Sang's determination to stop them from falling, 'I don't know how to make it better, Axel! We couldn't do anything else at the time so we can't apologise honestly for anything except that it hurt you all!' Sang knew she was over emotional and needed to regain control of herself but she couldn't seem to stop the tears as they were coming faster and unrelentingly.

'Sluta detta nu!' (Stop this now!) Mak huffed at himself for falling back into Swedish when he needed to be understood in English,

'Stop it! The decision of who was allowed to be told was mine. If you have a fucking problem with that, I'm stood right here,' There was expectant silence and the expression on Mak's face as he eagle eyed each man on the Toma team was absolutely terrifying. No one moved,

'The operation to keep the girls safe has been happening since they were in their mother's womb. From the very start, Alena and I were aware of some of the threats the girls would have to face throughout their lives, taking action to moderate those risks to the best of our abilities has been so very fucking hard on us all!' Mak took in a deep breath to control his anger at the boy men in front of him as they processed that even Mak was afraid of the threats he was unaware of that the girls could be facing,

'Many hard choices and sacrifices have had to be made to keep Iris safe over the years. Worse, during that time we always knew Sang's situation would be bad. And there was fuck all we could do about it!' Mak roared his fury at the six shell shocked Toma men,

'Nothing. I repeat myself, nothing is a bigger priority than the girls' safety. Not my feelings. Not Phil's feelings. Not what the Academy board thinks. And, for sure, not your feelings.' the look Mak pinned on his daughters' boyfriends remained fierce though his voice had become very quiet,

'You six are new to this party and you'd best accept right now that there will be more 'hurtful' decisions that will have be made in the future. Choices that will challenge your relationship with the girls. Especially as Sang will be a mother herself now. Maybe once you hold those babies in your arms you will have the vaguest clue of what the fuck I'm talking about,' All the Tomas listened in focused attention to Mak explain the severity of what they would face loving two such complex women about whom so much was still a mystery,

'Do you love them?' Mak asked them his voice diamond hard.

''Yes,' one word spoken in unison without hesitation from all six men.

'Are they worth the hardship?'

Again the answer was swift and uniform,

'Yes.'

'Then man the fuck up.' Mak eyeballed them all before folding his arms over his chest and relaxing back into watchful silence.

The door to the suite room opened hesitantly as the anaesthesiologist popped his head in nervously. Iris and Sang snorted, thank goodness the walls were sturdy enough to muffle the specifics of the conversation though there was no doubt the whole ward had heard the shouting. The hospital porter guided a wheelchair right in behind the anaesthesiologist as he spoke,

'Shall we get you to the pre op room and fitted with your spinal, Ms Sang so you can see those babies?' He asked her his eyes smiling at her kindly,

'Yes! Just one minute,' Sang took in the room full of people she loved, 'I need a proper hug from each of you and then I want to know who is joining Iris in the OR - and who the back ups are in case those two pass out,' she was serious and playful at the same time.

Iris and Raven slid Sang's feet over the bed to the floor before assisting her to stand up from the bed. Axel gripped Sang's waist, pulling her into him as far as the babies allowed embracing her before giving her lips a soft, gentle kiss,

'I love you, my Jewel. I can't wait to hold you and our babies after you've brought them into the world,'

Sang touched his face tenderly before saying she loved him too.

'I'm the backup,' Axel grinned as he walked away.

Corey and Marc hugged her tightly from either side. Taking turns kissing her lips lovingly,

'We adore you and love you, my heart but if we went in there with you, we just be two passed out puddles on the floor so we aren't the first or second string for you in the OR,' Sang giggled,

'Yea, I noticed you two looking a little worse for wear when Lina put my IV in. I love you both anyway,' she smirked turning to Brandon and Kevin who were just relinquishing Iris to Corey and Marc for hugs and kisses.

Kevin gave Sang a hard thorough kiss on the lips before brushing his lips across her forehead,

'Bring yourself and our babies back safe and sound, Star-shine, I love you,'

'I will, love you too, Sunshine,'

Brandon held her by her forearms and looked deep into her eyes before leaning forward and kissing her passionately,

'You and Iris are my happy place, sweet pea. I love you so much,' Sang pressed herself against him in a tight hug, 'I love you too,' she whispered in his ear.

Iris and Sang both gave Mak a hug before each leaned in to kiss his cheeks, 'Love you, Pops,' said Sang affectionately,

'Love you, Dad,' Iris chuckled at her father's stoic face.

'Ta med mina barnbarn och dig själv säkert tillbaka till mig, älskling,' (Bring my grandkids and yourself safely back to me, sweetheart.) Bjorne squeezed them both, 'Se över din syster, flickan,' (Watch over your sister, baby girl.)

'So then, teddy bear... It's you, me and Iris headed for the OR?' Sang hugged Raven before sitting down in the wheelchair,

'Da. Net vtoroy stroki. YA budu sledit' za svoim plevkom, feyyerverkom i malen'kimi medvedyami. Krov', gryaznyye veshchi ne bespokoit menya.' (Yes. No second string. I will watch over my spitfire, firecracker and baby bears. Blood, messy stuff does not bother me.) Raven leaned over giving her a devilish grin before kissing her so intensely she didn't even care when he slid his tongue in her mouth, gliding it over and tangling it silkily with Sang's own tongue, dominating her mouth before moving his face slowly away from hers. His face promising so much more for the future. Sang blushed hotly as she realised her family had just watched Raven french kiss her to distraction.

Phil cleared his throat while pushing past an unimpressed Mak,

'On that note, we should get going!' Sang and Iris giggled while the rest of their men besides Raven, regretted their own missed opportunity to get the first proper kiss from the little spitfire.

************************************************

Iris was anxiously waiting for Sang in the OR with Raven. How freaking long could it take to get the epidural in her spine for Christ sake? Raven gave Iris a questioning stare.

Do I need to get Axel?

'Don't even try it!' his firecracker growled at him.

Sexy....

Iris rolled her eyes at the eyebrow wag she got from the grinning Russian. Leave it to Raven to flirt in the OR,

'Do you need other spanking, firecracker?' Iris gave him an exasperated smile. Not now, teddy bear! Raven shrugged unrepentantly.

The door opened from the pre operation room and Sang was finally wheeled in lying on her back, a happy, silly smile on her face. Yea, sissy was high as a kite.

'Kak ty sebya chuvstvuyesh', malen'kiy plevok?' (How are you feeling, my little spitfire?) Raven was speaking to Sang so softly, Iris was taken back by the tattooed man's gentleness and understanding. She wondered if he had been in surgery with someone else before.

'YA chuvstvuyu sebya stranno, moy plyushevyy mishka, no eto sovsem ne plokho. YA chuvstvuyu, chto nablyudayu za soboy i na samom dele nichego ne chuvstvuyu. Imeyet li eto smysl?' (I feel strange, my teddy bear but it's not a bad thing exactly. I feel like I'm observing myself and not really feeling anything. Does that make sense?) Raven stroked Sang's arm to reassure her,

'Eto khorosho, kak lyuboye izvestnoye mne ob"yasneniye togo, chto mne dali narkotiki do glaznykh yablok,' (It's good as any explanation I know for being drugged up to your eyeballs.) Both Iris and Sang giggled at Raven's rueful response.

'Ok, Sang,' Phil started speaking as the operating team moved into action, 'The staff are putting a curtain wall in place to prevent the three of you from seeing the surgery itself,' Sang opened her mouth to protest - she wanted to watch, dammit!

'Don't bother,' Phil deadpanned, 'You know the protocol as well as I do and you know there's no exemption to protocol even if you're a resident doctor,' He gave her a steely look, 'I know you do because Iris told me you'd been checking for loopholes on your laptop,'

'Sis!' Iris grinned unrepentant,

'Guilty. Sorry, sissy, I could not take pacing in the waiting room for the little ones to arrive, but I for damn sure don't need to see your insides either! I would like to give birth myself someday. I love you though.'

Sang grumbled but gave in as gracefully as she could manage,

'Raven.' Phil eyeballed the large Russian next, 'I know you will want to peek,' It was the funniest thing Iris or Sang had ever seen, watching the tattooed man pretend to be innocent while Dr. Phil was in daddy mode, so both laughed hard at the two men, 'I want you to think about how bad your other team mates will ream you if you do peek and faint. Because, if you do. I. Will. Tell. Them. In fact,' Phil considered thoughtfully,

'If you peek, even if you don't pass out, I'll still tell them you did,' Dr. Phil smiled evilly, pleased with himself. It was Raven's turn then to grumble and concede not to look over the sheeted wall which was now firmly in place.

Five minutes passed as the surgical team finished their preparations and went to their various stations in the OR.

'You ready to meet your mini tribe, sweetheart?' Phil and Dr. Sam were the last of the operating team to step into position behind the sheet at the foot of the bed. Sang looked up at Phil, his eyes, all that she could see of his face, were smiling at her in his warm, paternal manner, telling her that he loved her and was proud of her. Sang smiled soppily and nodded her head that she was ready to begin.

Sang knew they were about to make the first incision on her abdomen after checking she was unable to feel anything other than the pressure of the cut. Iris and Raven were holding her two hands tightly, both unwittingly communicating their nervousness for her. Sang felt pressure low on her front pelvic area as the scalpel parted all six levels of skin in her abdominal cut. She was having the bikini cut. She'd discussed this at length with Phil at her penultimate pre natal appointment. She knew this type of incision was both less painful to recover from and easier to hide the resulting 4-6 inch scar below panties or bikini bottoms.

'Preparing to make the uterine incision,' Sang knew Phil was in his own fashion letting her know what was happening since she wasn't allowed to watch her own surgery. Iris and Raven were completely silent. That was why it was so loud in the OR when Iris' smart watch pinged again for the second time that evening,

'Dammit, Iris! Silence that thing,' Phil was not happy, he'd just about had the scalpel in place to open Sang's uterus, he could've accidentally harmed the babies!

'Sorry, oh god, I'm sorry,' Iris fumbled to switch the device off when she caught the words on her notification,

'Skit!' Even Raven didn't need a translator to know that meant 'shit' in Swedish. Phil took a step back so Sang was unable to see his eyes and face. He indicated for Dr. Sam to make the uterine cut by gesture handing her the scalpel before looking into Iris' eyes for an explanation.

Iris' eyes showed shock and a touch of smugness at her own web based proficiency.

The Blackbourne team are searching for Sang subtly on the web. They've got hold of her graduation speech. One of her classmates must've uploaded the video. I've got to get dad to get Skug on this. We may be able to locate them.

Phil's eyebrows raised sharply as he both comprehended Iris' communication and saw Sang's uterus opening and the head of Baby A waiting to be pulled from their mother's womb.

Just a minute, we're about to pull out Baby A.

Phil stepped back up to the operating table and as Sam's hand moved away with the scalpel, Phil reached his hands forward to bring his first grandchild into the world.

Sang felt a weird pulling sensation in her pelvic area. A moment passed and then the cry of an indignant baby filled the room,

'Baby A is a boy!' Phil boomed, his voice both exuberant and a touch emotional. Sang's breathe hitched in her throat. Her first born son.

'Is he ok? He's loud enough! Are they giving him his first Apgar test yet?'

'Hold on there mama, his umbilical cord has to be cut first,'

'I can cut?' Asked Raven hopefully. Phil looked at Sang first for approval, which she tearfully gave before he narrowed his eyes at the Russian,

'If you faint, Ravenstahl, I will not be picking you up! You'll be pushed to the corner and I'll have the nurse send for Axel,' Raven scoffed at Phil's threat as he gave Sang a quick kiss before releasing her hand and moving around to sever their sons final physical attachment to his mother so he could be properly born.

When he moved past the sheet barrier, his full attention was on the baby in Phil's hands. When the view of Sang's open abdominals actually penetrated he was too busy being handed surgical scissors and then carefully cutting the strange looking umbilical cord. If Raven hoped to get his hands on the baby, he was to be disappointed as the multiples specialist paediatric doctor had spirited Baby A out of the area for the usual cleaning, weighing and testing.

'Stay put, Raven, the rest will be quick,' as Phil spoke he was pulling out Baby B. During the commotion of Raven cutting the first umbilical cord, Iris had managed to tap out a quick message to Skug and her father before silencing her watch and squeezing her sister's hand at the announcement of the second babies' birth,

'Baby B is a boy also,' an angry sounding cry squalled loudly in that tone only a newly born baby makes. Raven cut the cord more quickly the second time. The second paediatric specialist stole that baby away before he could touch it as well,

'Chert poberi!' (Goddammit!) he muttered under his breath. Phil laughed,

'Suck it up, buttercup! Ready for Baby C?' Raven's eyes showed his dislike at being referred to as 'buttercup', what the hell does that even mean, he wondered while quickly reaching forward to cut a third umbilical cord,

'Baby C is a girl! You're doing so well, Sang!' Phil encouraged his little sweetheart who looked tearful but not under undue stress,

'Baby D is a boy,' the room was full of irate baby noises with four infants clamouring for warmth and comfort,

'Baby E is a girl....' Phil continued, handing the fifth of the septuplets to one of the paediatric specialists.

'Baby F is a boy.... You still doing ok, little bird?' Phil checked back in with Sang while preparing to lift out the last of the septs. Both Sang and Iris were crying happy tears hoping they'd be allowed to hold at least one of the six babies being cared for in the room soon,

'And that means Baby G is a.... girl! Congratulations, sweetheart! Your babies have arrived. We're gonna deliver the placentas and then start stitching you shut now so it should be about forty minutes and then you'll be able to go back to your suite and rest. Dr. Mitchell should be finished with Baby A and B now so you'll get to see them though you won't be able to hold them just yet,'

Raven had gone back to stand with Iris by Sang when the specialist brought the first two baby boys to show Sang. Both Iris and Raven eagerly took the babies from his arms to show Sang. Iris took a photo with her smart watch as Sang's breathe hitched for a second time,

'Oh god! Already they look so much like Owen and North!' Raven looked closely at the two infants to realise his spitfire was right, even as new borns, their  parentage was obvious,

'Why aren't they here, Raven?' Sang sobbed at seeing her children by the men she still loves.

Raven struggled to find a good answer and so settled with whispering soothing words in Russian to her while holding one of her four sons in his arms.

'She's got uterine atony, Phil,' Dr. Sam's voice was very quiet but Iris heard her,

'What does that mean?' She asked Phil sharply. Phil gave Sang's twin a concentrated look, noticing Sang's current distress. He made an odd motion to Dr. Sam who picked up a sack of liquid before moving around and giving it to the anaesthesiologist who changed the partially full sack currently hooked in through Sang's epidural line for the new one. Iris watched as Sang's eyes began to close after a few seconds,

'What the fuck is going on?' Iris started to become panicked, Raven was also now tense from worry,

'Listen to me Iris, ok,' Phil was gentle in explaining, 'Sang's uterus is still relaxed when it shouldn't be. It's causing a lot of blood loss,' Iris sucked in air. The baby was taken from her by a nurse as she started to have a panic attack. Raven also handed his baby to one of the paediatric specialists before he grabbed Iris to stabilise her body and comfort her,

'This is not uncommon with multiple birth Caesarians, Iris. Along with the general anaesthetic Sang was just administered, she was also given some prostaglandins. Sang will be perfectly fine. She's hopefully not even going to require a blood transfusion as her body is currently housing up to 50% more blood than she normally has in her body due to her pregnancy.'

'Zachem yeye nokautirovat?' (Why knock her out then?) Raven was upset and reverted to his mother tongue but Iris picked up on the question,

'Yea! If this is not a problem, why'd you knock Sang out?' Phil sighed as he stepped away and allowed Dr. Sam to get on with the stitches in Sang's abdominals now that the dissolvable stitches were completed on her uterine walls,

'She was becoming stressed about the babies' fathers not being here. When she was bleeding excessively anyway, I didn't want her body further stressed. And frankly, I wasn't sure how she would react if she realised she had uterine atony. She'll sleep tonight now and recover to be with those babies in the morning, refreshed and ready to take on mama duties.'

Both Iris and Raven's stress levels began to ratchet down as they realised no one else in the OR was panicking and the additional surgeon was sat down talking with one of the operating room nurses.

'I know she wants the babies breast fed as much as possible, but they'll have to take bottles some of the time, there's just too many of them. So tonight they'll have bottles.' Phil ran his hand over his forehead in relief as the last of the stitches were made in Sang's abdominals and the placentas had all been passed.

'All done, the bleeding is still heavy but it's manageable on the ward,' Dr. Sam smiled up at Phil, 'Good job, team,' Sam praised her colleagues,

'Wheel Ms Sorensen into recovery,' Dr. Sam commands the OR nurse.

Phil put an arm around Iris and Raven,

'Let's go tell everyone the good news... and check on what those Blackbourne babies are up to!'

************************************************

Ok guys, the babies are here with a little drama but not too upsetting.... and it looks like Baby A and B have either Owen or North for a daddy.

Who wants to know who the daddies are to the other five, eh? Lol!

Be safe guys! Until next time....
