"What should we listen to?" Ivy asked, messing with the radio.

"Something upbeat." I replied, turning the corner.

"Oh, how about... hmm," Ivy scrolled through her phone thoughtfully.

"Best Song Ever?"

"Eh," I shook my head.

"Firework."

"Nah."

"Don't Call Me Up?"

"Yes!" I said. "Yes!"

The familiar beat rang through the car, and I smiled as I drove down the back road.

"The gas station should be up on the left," Ivy said over the music.

"I see it." I replied.

I pulled into the gas station and pulled up to the two men standing in front of an SUV.

"Did someone call for a rescue?" Ivy called, rolling down the window.

"Are you listening to music?" James asked incredulously.

"Maybe," Ivy replied cheekily.

"Let's just get going," Hudson shook his head, and they walked up to us.

Ivy handed them the two small boxes, and they took their comms out, putting the little device in their ear.

"Sawah, are you there?" James asked in a baby voice.

"I wish I wasn't," Sarah sounded unamused.

"Just follow me pretty boy." I called.

"Following's not really my style, sweetheart," James clapped back.

I rolled my eyes and rolled up the window.

"Taylor would do good in S.I.D," Hudson was saying.

"She doesn't wanna join your super secret boy band, Hudson." James teased.

"It's not a boy band, there are plenty of women too." Hudson clapped back.

"How'd Evan take this? What did you say, gimme a kiss for good luck- oh, and by the way, I may not make it back?" James asked.

"Do you just like the sound of your own voice, is that why you talk so much?" I asked. "Because no one else is listening."

"Damn." Hudson remarked.

"And yet you replied." James said smugly. "Dude, can I move this seat? It's uncomfortable."

"No." Hudson said.

"But it's uncomfortable!"

"No." Hudson repeated.

"James, are you drunk?" Ivy asked.

"No, why?"

"Because you're acting especially stupid." Hudson said.

"No I'm not, but hey, it's not the years in the life, it's the life in the years that counts." James said.

"You didn't even come up with that yourself," Sarah scoffed.

"How do you know?" James asked with attitude.

"Because it's a wise quote, and smart- you are none of those." Sarah teased.

"You know, imagine having all of them as your family now." James snickered.

"Christmas is about to get weird," Hudson laughed.

"Don't make me pull this car over." I said firmly.

"Mean mommy is out," Sarah commented.

"You're depriving your pack of an idiot." I snapped to James.

"Hudson used to think I was an idiot too," James said cheerully.

"I still do," Hudson grumbled.

My phone rang, and I looked at it. "It's Orion." I said with a sigh.

"Why Orion?" Ivy asked.

"Because Evan probably can't let go of his pride enough to pick up the phone, but is still worried she's dead." Hudson said bluntly.

"Does Evan need to be jealous?" James asked. "Are you and Orion a thing?"

"What?! No!"

"Boyfriend's calling," James said in a singsong voice. "Don't worry, tell him we'll keep you safe."

"I'm not telling him anything, because I'm not answering." I replied.

"Why not?"

"Get a life and stop poking around in mine." I replied teasingly.

"I'm gonna kill you for that one."

"But that's not keeping me safe," I mocked.

----------------------

"Ivy, where did you leave the software for the thing?" Sarah asked.

"What thing?" James asked.

"I left it in the tech lab."

"It's not there."

"Well, I left it there."

"Goddess, you misplace so many things, it drives me crazy!" Sarah cried.

"You're just blind as a bat and incapable of looking!"

The two began bickering over who's worse and I shook my head.

"Ladies, ladies, please! Save the fighting for later!" James cried.

"Enough with all the shouting!" Hudson said.

"You're yelling too!"

I shared a smirk with Ivy and laughed. "Now girls, what did we say about fighting?" I asked.

"Honestly, they're like a couple of old grannies." Ivy said.

"Extremely childish- how did they become Alphas? They don't seem very responsible."

"Taylor-"

"Yes dear?" I cut of James' threatening tone with a sweet but sarcastic tone.

"When we get out of the car, Taylor-"

"Oh, I can't hear you." I interrupted Hudson.

"Yeah, there must be some kind of interference." Ivy agreed. We pulled out our comms and I continued driving.

-----------------------

"Do we know where the girls live?" James asked.

"Yes." Hudson replied.

"How will we know that they're there?" Ivy asked.

"We'll know."

"Turn right." Ivy said as I drove into the town.

"Woah!" I hit my brakes as a wolf went flying by, inches from our bumper.

It crashed into the store across the intersection from us.

"What the hell was that?" Ivy cried.

"It's like Wizards of Oz!"

"Flying monkeys, James, not wolves." Ivy said in exasperation.

"Way to ruin a good joke, Ivy."

"It was a terrible joke!"

"There!" I saw two girl fighting to our left in the middle of the street, surrounded by hunters and rogues.

"Hold on!" I said, shifting gears and hitting the gas, peeling straight into the crowd of wolves.

I turned the wheel and pulled the emergency brake, fishtailing the car around and slamming the back into a wolf, sensing it flying into a brick wall.

"That was cool!" Ivy said.

Hudson and James drove past us, straight into the fight.

"Come on." I said, and Ivy and I got out of the car.

I ran straight at a hunter, punching him in the throat and grabbing his arm, flipping him over my back.

Behind me Ivy shot him, finishing him off.

I came up to one hunter, who I punched in the face, and then spun around, seeing Ivy come up on his other side.

We both ducked down and kicked out his legs, and he flipped, landing on his neck and dying.

I came onto two more hunters, and rolled over the hood of an abandoned sedan, knocking one down with a  butterfly kick to the head.

I leaned back and wrapped my legs around the other's head, slamming it into the hood of the car.

I pulled out a knife and threw it, and it lodged in the eye of an oncoming rogue.

Hudson ran past in his gigantic wolf form, a streak of grey fur brushing my arm as he tackled an oncoming rogue, rolling him to shreds.

I whirled around and shot a hunter, kicking another in the stomach and rolling over his back, shooting two more.

I ran at another, punching him and pushing him back, causing his arms to fly out. I grabbed one and vaulted him over my back.

He landed on the ground and I put my foot on his shoulder, twisting his arm and shooting him in the head.

I ran at two more, grabbing the first one and punching her in the face, turning around and elbowing her in the stomach.

I spun and used her arm for balance as I kicked out and hit the next girl in the stomach.

I pulled out my other SIG and shot both of them.

"Argh!" A hunter tackled me and I hit the pavement, rolling us over so I was on top, killing him with a single shot.

I pulled out my staff and pressed the button, the sides sliding out, and I ran at the next three who were coming at me.

I spun the staff and rose my arms up in the arm, bringing it down on the first and kicking the second.

I whirled around and jabbed the third in the throat, turned around and using the end to spin up, delivering an uppercut to the forth.

Once I was done with them, I looked around. There were too many for a clean takedown.

I knew what I had to do.

"Get down!" I yelled as loud as I could.

Ivy grabbed one of the girls and pulled her to the ground. James and Hudson hit the pavement, and the other wolf followed suit.

I closed my eyes and thought of Emmy and what I wanted my power to do, curling my hands into fists.

Then, I opened my eyes and felt the power explode from me, a surge knocking over anyone at my chest height.

My head was thrown back and my back was bent backwards a bit from the force.

The vibrational force shattered every glass wall and sent the car behind me flying down the street.

I felt the power leave my body and I stumbled, blood dripping down my nose.

Hudson ran up to me and I fell against him, trying to catch my breath.

My fingers dug into his fur and I groaned, feeling as if my skull was splitting.

"That hurt," I complained breathlessly.

---------------------

A blonde ordered around some S.I.D Agents as they cleaned up the mess of the dead bodies, while Alpha Kaden took care of the ones still alive.

"Thanks, Raina." James said to her.

She gave him a look. "Cleaning up your messes seems to be my day job, James," she said sarcastically, with a southern accent.

"What's your night job?" James asked teasingly as she walked away.

"Doing my actual job!" Rains called over her shoulder.

"I like her," I said, giggling.

"Feelings mutual, kiddo!" She called.

"She reminds me of Sarge." Ivy noted. "Are you okay?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm good." I nodded. "It just felt weird."

"You have potential to be extremely powerful, and it looks like you can handle it," Sarah said to me. "I think you should carefully push yourself. Take it slowly, and self advocate, but I think you could be lethal."

"Good. I wanna kill as many of these guys as I need to, to end this." I said, filled with determination.

"Woah," Ivy nudged me and I looked up, towards our right. Hudson and Jess were talking, and Hudson was standing really close to her.

We looked to our left. Willow and James were also talking, also standing extremely close to each ither.

"No way," I breathed.

"Is that even possible?" Ivy asked.

"What is it? What?" Sarah demanded.

"I think that the best friends are mates with the best friends," I said.

Ivy and I looked at both pairs, and then at each other with wide eyes.

"Who with who?" Sarah asked.

I saw James take out his comm and put it in his pocket.

"James and Willow," I said.

"And Hudson and Jess."

"No way!"

"Oh, it's unfolding right before our eyes." I said.

"Something weird is going on." Ivy said slowly.

"That's five Alphas, mated to Gifted." I added.

"Something odd indeed," Sarah agreed.
