Om looks around in shock at the empty room. Gauri was gone. Kaali had her. Kaali had his wife and son. Where did he take her? how can he find her? Om wonders frantically as worry gripped his heart. Where could have he taken her? he didn't have time. He had to find them quickly. But how? Magic. Only through magic. He needed to get to Gauri's naani.
Grabbing his car key, he starts to hurry to the door as he dialed Gauri's naani.
Just as Om took his first step, he was engulfed in a white light. And he stumbled into a strange place.
He stops in shock as he took in his surroundings. He was no longer standing in his bedroom. He was not even in his house. Where was he?
Om looks around in shock, fear and wonder. Slowly the place started looking familiar. He has been here before. But where was he?
Om looks around. He was in the corridor of some place. the walls were of white color. He has been here before. Om slowly starts to walk and sees a French window. He quickly hurries to the window and looks out. He was on a house a higher terrain. Oh my God! He was on a Greenland Estate. It was a secluded estate. He had come here to check out the place to see if it was good to be converted into a resort. It is a beautiful property and he was in talks with the owners regarding the purchase and then Gauri had happened. But what the hell was he doing here?
Then he hears someone talking. Turning around, he quickly starts walking towards the sound hoping it was Gauri.
As he got near the sound became louder and more audible.
"No."
He heard a male voice. Then he stops in shock, the voice sounded so much like his.
"Please." A kid's voice reached him.
Om hurries to the sound.
"I said no." it was his sound only. But how?
Om turns the corner and enters a room, a study. He stops in shock seeing himself sitting at the table with a small boy standing in front of him. the boy had his back towards him and his illusion or rather the real him or he wasn't even sure what it was, was facing him but he didn't seem to be aware of his presence.
"I want to go for the movie."
"Just conjure up the movie here and watch it." Om tells him in a dismissing tone.
Oh my God! that is Abhi. He is alive. That means Gauri is also alive. Om sighs in relief as a tear fell from his eyes in joy.
"I want to see it in the theatre."
"Make a theatre ambiance here with your magic."
"NO!"
"Tomorrow is school night."
"I am home schooled."
"Still, you have classes at home."
"I want to see the movie. Please."
Sighing loudly, Om asks his son in a challenging tone. "Last week, when we were in London, remember I took you to watch Lion King musicale."
"er... not much." The boy lies as he looked down.
"No worries, I will remind you." Om tells him smiling. "When Scar was about to kill Mufasa, you did something, remember?"
"Scar is evil."
"Not the actor who was playing him."
"Sorry." The boy says looking down.
"But what did you do?"
"I turned him into a hyena." He replies hesitantly.
Om bursts out laughing hearing that.
"Exactly." The illusion Om tells Abhi.
"But I turned him back when you told me and I made everyone forget also." He reminds him.
"But still, you broke the rules. No magic outside the house. No magic on people."
"I said sorry too."
"Gauri is right, sorry isn't enough always. At times you need to be punished. You need to be grounded."
"You can ground me after the movie." Abhi says as a compromise.
"No."
"I want to go."
"No. and if we go for the movie, it is going to be really late when we get back. One and a half hours to and fro to the town, we will be really late."
"I will take you in a sec." Abhi says excitedly.
"what was the rule on doing magic outside the house?" Om asks him.
Abhi looks down sadly.
"And what if you decide to change the story halfway through?"
"I make the movie better."
The real Om laughs hearing that.
Om looks up at him in exasperation. "Go to your room. No movie!"
Abhi furiously stomps his foot on the ground.
"I have work. Why don't you take it up with your Ma?" Om asks cheekily.
"She is worse than Scar and the hyenas." Abhi mutters.
Om softly chuckles. "She would love to hear that."
"You won't take me?" Abhi asks angrily.
"No."
"Last chance."
"No."
And the things on his table started rising up.
Om watched in shock seeing his son doing magic like a pro. Just then, he noticed a small girl sneaking upon Abhi.
"Don't." while the future Om tells him in a warning tone.
"Next is you." Abhi tells him.
"Behave."
Om's chair was about to rise when it came back down abruptly just as Abhi screeched "Ouch!"
The girl laughs as she pulled out the pin from Abhi's butt.
"She poked me." Abhi complains.
"That is how non-magical people fight back." She tells him arrogantly as she ran to Om and hugged him.
"You shouldn't hurt people, sweetheart." Om softly whispers to her.
"He can make himself forget his pain." The girl giggles at her brother.
Just then the illusion disappeared.
Om turns around in panic to see where they had gone.
"You don't need magic to fight back, Dada."
Om hears Abhi's voice and turns back in shock to find Abhi right behind him.
"You can see me?" Om asks confused.
Abhi's face breaks into a big smile and he runs to Om and hugs him tight. "Dada."
"What is happening here? Where is Gauri? Are you alright?" Om asks him as he hugged him tight and almost broke into tears.
"Don't worry Dada, we are fine." Abhi says as he looked at Om.
Om cups his face lovingly.
"How I was dying to see you." Om says as tears fell from his eyes.
"I know, Dada. Even I wanted to see you so badly. I love you, Dada."
Om breaks out into sobs as he hugged him. he was so overwhelmed.
"Don't worry, Dada. Nothing will happen to us."
"How can I fight Kaali? You saw what happened? I've no magic."
"You don't need magic, Dada."
"Then?"
"Just be strong."
"But how?"
"I'll take you to Ma and Kaali. I will shield you. but you have to be very fast because I can't shield you for long."
"Okay. What should I do?"
"Ma has to hold Kaali and you will have to help her. and I will take his magic away."
"Okay."
"he will use magic and fight you also, but Ma shouldn't leave her hold on him."
"She won't." Om promises him.
"Once I take away his magic, it will be over."
"But... You and Gauri will be safe, right? Bhavya said..." Om asks remembering that Bhavya had seen a future with the fetus dying.
"That second was an illusion I created. Because when I looked into the future only that would have let Ma to allow you to be near us."
"You are very naughty." Om tells him chuckling in relief.
Abhi laughs.
"Where is Gauri?"
"He took her to his house."
"We need to go quickly."
"Yes. Take my hand. I will send you to Ma."
"Will you be there?"
"No."
"Oh... then when will I see you again?" Om asks him feeling sad at the separation.
"When I am born."
"I'll miss you."
"I am with Ma only." Abhi reminds him smiling.
"Yes... but still..." Om says as he cupped his face to kiss him.
"Ewwweee Dada." Abhi says in disgust as he moved back. "Stop kissing. It is yuck. And you have to stop kissing Ma too."
Om's mouth drops open.
"Don't kiss Ma again. I don't like it."
"So, it was you." Om says remembering how the pen had poked him when he tried kissing Gauri.
"Yes. It is ewwwe, I don't like it."
"God! Let me hear you say that when you become a teenager." Om mutters under his breath.
"I'll take you back?"
"Abhi, when you are born..." Om hesitantly starts.
"What?"
"Can you try not to hurt your Ma?"
Abhi pouts sadly, "I don't know, Dada. I'll try to not hurt her. but some kind of pain I can't shield, like death and birth."
"Oh." Then noticing Abhi's sad face, Om quickly says, "It's okay, Abhi. You take me to Ma."
"You didn't name me, Abhi." Abhi tells him smiling as he took his hand.
"No? Why?" Om asks confused.
"Ma hates the name."
"But she never said anything."
"Because she was not in the mood to talk to you." Abhi explains.
"Oh." Om says sadly.
"Why did you make Ma cry?" Abhi asks him sadly.
"You know what I did?" Om asks him hesitantly.
"You kissed Ma and showed everyone the video. I told you, kissing is yuck."
"I am sorry. I am sorry I did that, and I am sorry you had to see that." Om tells him sadly.
"It's okay, Dada. When I am born, I won't remember all this."
"You won't?" Om asks him surprised.
"Yes. Every baby is born with a clean slate. So, I'll also forget all this."
"How do you know that?" Om asks him amazed.
"the nature talks to me. They tell me what to do and what I need to know."
"Oh." Om says amazed.
"You were telling Ma that you want to change what happened."
"You can do that?" Om asks shocked.
"Yes. If you want me to do it, then I can do it for you."
"Hmmm... I'll ask your Ma and tell you."
"Okay... Let's go?"
"Yes, Abh... what did we name you?" Om asks hurriedly as he felt a white flash taking form. As the white light engulfed him completely he hears his son answer him. "Arjun Singh Oberoi."
Om stumbles into a room and before he could spot Gauri, he heard her shouts.
"Leave me."
"Gauri?" Om sees her standing a few feet away with Kaali holding her.
"Omkara?" Gauri turns to him in relief. "How did you...?"
"YOU?" Kaali also turns to him in shock.
"Our son." Om tells her smiling and then turns to Kaali.
Kaali quickly waves his hand in front of him and Om sees a wall forming in front of him.
"No." Om shouts as he pushed at the wall and after the initial struggle his hand went through the wall. Om quickly realizes that Abhi... no... Arjun was helping him. he runs through the wall and smiles in satisfaction seeing Kaali's shocked expression.
Om runs with all his might so that he reaches Kaali before he creates another hurdle for him.
When he was about to reach him, he jumps on him with all his might.
Kaali who had been trying to throw Om out of his path, starts panicking realizing that the shield was stronger than his magic.
Om falls on Kaali pushing Kaali and Gauri to the floor.
"Gauri, hold him and don't leave your hold on him. Abhi will take away his magic." Om instructs her as he held Kaali's hand with one hand and punched him on his face with the other.
Gauri quickly grabs Kaali's legs and holds tightly.
Om continued to hold Kaali as Kaali screamed and thrashed around.
Feeling her grip on him loosening, Gauri quickly lies across Kaali, anchoring him with her weight and holds his leg.
Om could feel some force pushing him away, as if Kaali was trying to throw him away using magic. He could feel the pain of the magic, he understood that his son's shield was weakening.
Then he hears Gauri and Kaali scream out loudly. Without leaving his grip on Kaali, Om turns to look at Gauri and sees in fear as a black apparition rising up from Kaali's leg where Gauri had been holding him.
"Gauri, don't let go. Please hold on." Om tells her as he continued to hold Kaali tight.
Gauri tightens her hold as she screamed in pain. Her whole body felt on fire. As if something evil was coursing through her body, specially her hands which were holding Kaali.
Then their screams became deafening.
then it was all over.
Gauri stopped screaming.
Om looks at her and sees her lying over Kaali's feet tired. He turned to look at Kaali's face and sees him staring at him in horror. There were tears in his eyes. There was fear. And Om realized that there was no force trying to hurt him now. Om realized that there was no magic. Their son had taken away Kaali's magic.
Om quickly gets up and crawls towards Gauri.
"Gauri?" Om calls her as he took her in his arms.
"It's over." Gauri tells him in relief.
"Yes."
"He can't hurt us now?"
"He can't." Om confirms.
Gauri closes her eyes in relief as she hugged Om.
They hear a whimper and turn to look at Kaali.
Kaali was trying to get up but he was too weak to get up. his skin started wrinkling then it slowly started sagging. His hair started greying which ended up white like a ghost.
"What's happening?" Om asks Gauri confused.
"His magic is no longer in him. the magic that had kept him young and immortal is gone. His age is catching up to him."
They stood there and watched as Kaali died.
"I was scared that our son would kill him." Gauri whispers to him. "He is a baby and he is innocent, I didn't want blood on his hand."
"There is no blood in his hand, love. Kaali died of old age." Om tells her.
"Yes." Gauri says smiling as she hugged him.
"We should go home." Om tells her.
"Yes, please." Gauri tells him.
"Gauri..."
"Yes?"
"We should go home." Om tells her.
Gauri leans back to look at him with a frown.
"You have to take us."
"I've had enough adventure for the day. I don't want to end up in a forest by my screwed up magic. You find another way."
"Let me go out and see if there is a car." Om starts to say and then stops seeing the now familiar white flash.
"Home." Om says smiling as they stumbled into his bedroom.
Gauri looks around their bedroom and sighs in relief as emotion took over her. "Home." Gauri says as tears filled her eyes. Then hugging Om she bursts into tears. The adventure of the last half an hour finally coming out.
"It's okay. Everything is over. We are home."
"Don't ever leave me again."
"I didn't leave you, Gauri." Om reminds her.
"But still, promise me you won't go away."
"I promise, I won't."
"I was so scared when he took me. I thought, I would die without seeing you." Gauri says as she broke into tears.
"I would never let you die, Gauri." Om vehemently promises her.
Though, Gauri has never heard anything sillier than that, she decided to not say anything.
"Who does he look like?" Gauri asks Om amazed.
Om had told her about meeting their son.
"Me." Om tells her smiling.
"I thought so." Gauri says smiling.
"Our daughter looks like you." Om tells her.
"Really?" Gauri asks smiling. "What else happened?"
"Gauri..." Om hesitantly tells her remembering sadly. "Our daughter, she doesn't do magic."
"She doesn't?" Gauri asks not bothered.
"Yes... they say when there is no true love then the child is born without magic, right?" Om asks her sadly. "Don't you love me anymore? Can you stop loving me?"
"Omkara..."
"I know what I did was unforgiveable but..."
"Nature believes in balance. So, if a powerful wizard or witch is born, then his or her siblings will be born without magic. No matter how much the parents are in love, the second child will have no magic. Because many powerful wizards in one family can lead to world domination."
"Oh." Om says in relief. "I thought you..."
"I love you, Omkara." Gauri calmly tells him. "I've always loved you. I'll always love you. even without my memory, I loved you. the truth is I never stopped loving you. I was angry but there was never hate."
"I am sorry for what I did, Gauri." Om tells her as he held her hand.
"We saved the world. We saved our son. I think, it is time, I moved passed the past."
"I love you, Gauri."
"I know. Now, tell me what else did Abh... Omkara... there is something I want to tell you."
"What?"
"I know you love the name Abhimanyu... but.."
"You hate it." Om says with a smile.
"Yes. You knew?"
"He told me."
"Really?" Gauri asks smiling.
"Yes."
"I know you thought it was an apt name because he learned everything in the womb, but he died young. He died at war. So, I was scared specially with Kaali."
Om nods understanding her fear and happy that she was sharing it with him now.
"I found another name." Gauri tells him smiling.
Om starts smiling, as he already knew the name. "Name I know, but why you thought Arjun is a more apt name?"
Gauri smiles in surprise hearing the name. "Because he is a warrior. He fought for the truth and no one killed him."
Om chuckles hearing that.
"What else happened?"
"So he can change our past?" Gauri asks Om thoughtfully.
"Yes. What do you think?" Om asks Gauri hopefully.
"You want to change our past." Gauri replies thoughtfully.
"Yes." Om quickly replies.
"No." Gauri tells Om.
"Gauri..."
"I tried to kill you. You found out I am a witch. And you asked me to marry you. I can never replace that memory with anything else. It is true that you hurt me in the past but Omkara, without that pain, I will never know how much you love me or how much I love you. if we had a sweet romantic story, we will never know the depth of our love." Gauri tells Om as she cupped his face. "We've grown, Omkara. we can live with that betrayal and pain."
"I love you, Gauri."
"I know." Gauri whispers with a smile as she moved to kiss his lips.
Just as Om was about to reciprocate the kiss, he felt something poke his shoulder. Sighing loudly, Om moves away from Gauri.
Gauri looks at Om curiously and in confusion.
"Gauri, there is something you need to know about our son." Om tells her in exasperation.
