Hazel's POV
I wander around camp, searching for Dex. I bent down to pick up an odd device that looked like cuffs. Upon studying them more closely, I realized they were those objects of Sophie's that Leo had made adjustments to earlier.
"Looking for something?" I glanced up to see Leo peering curiously at the gadgets in my hands.
"Yeah. I can't find Dex. Sophie asked me to find him. But I can't seem to figure out where he got off to," I sighed.
"Sorry," he winced. "I wish I could help, but I don't know where he went either. But have you seen Marella?"
"No."
Leo looked at the language on the side of cuffs I held and gasped
"Whoa. I've never seen anyone but me use this code before. It says...Sophie Foster," Leo told me.
"Dex said he was working on something for Sophie! He would never leave something he invented on the ground!" I realized. A pit of dread settled in my stomach.
"Now that I think about it, I think Marella said she was gonna ask Dex some questions about a gadget," Leo remembered. We both stared at each other, not wanting to voice what we both thought.
"I think something happened to them both," I said, confirming our worst fears.
"We gotta tell the others!" Leo responded quickly. We ran toward the Big House together, screaming for Chiron.
