serena: "I don't think I can ever get tired of pho."
best friend: "At least we can agree on one thing."
soobin: "[y/n], careful, it's still hot."
y/n: "I know."
serena: "Years later and you're still reminding her to blow on her soup."
y/n: (smiles)
soobin: "Hey, so I never asked what kind of wedding gift your cousin would want?"
serena: "Money."
soobin: (coughs) "Really?"
serena: "Really. Their wedding was so expensive. The cake alone was almost a thousand bucks."
y/n: "Hm..." (whispers) "Soobin, do you have money?"
soobin: "Kind of."
y/n: (clears throat) "Yeah, that's no problem, Serena."
best friend: "This is why I hate big weddings. What's the point? Might as well save money for a house."
serena: "Everyone has their own dream wedding and theirs happened to be a big one. But I get what you mean."
best friend: "When I get married, I'm going to have the tiniest wedding the world has ever heard of. We can even cook food to save more money. Then we can splurge on a honeymoon trip."
serena: "I don't know, I'm thinking I want a slightly big wedding. Only slightly."
soobin: "We want a small wedding, too. Right, [y/n]?"
y/n: (chokes)
soobin: "Woah, slow down on your soup! Here. Drink."
y/n: (gulps water)
best friend: (chuckles)
serena: "A small wedding, huh? I'm going to be the maid of honor, right?"
y/n: "I-I don't know."
serena: "What? Who else would it be?"
y/n: "I mean, I don't know about wedding stuff. That's all really far away from now to think about."
soobin: (nods) "Studies first, right?"
y/n: "R-right."
soobin: "See, this is why we're together. You're the one that keeps my head out of the clouds."
y/n: (laughs) "Your head is nowhere near the clouds. You're the most responsible person I know."
soobin: "You have to say that, you're my girlfriend."
serena: "Alright, alright, enough of the verbal PDA. I need to get going, I have other errands to run."
soobin: "I can take [y/n] back to campus."
serena: "Great."
best friend: "I'm gonna get going, too."
y/n: "Where do you need to go?"
best friend: (whispers) "Nowhere. You need to spend more time alone with Soobin."
y/n: (whispers) "What?! But--"
best friend: (clears throat) "Bye, Soobin. I'll see you around."
soobin: "See you."
[BEST FRIEND and SERENA leave]
soobin: "I guess [best friend] is nice, after all. Kind of."
y/n: "She is. Just give her a chance."
soobin: "What made you give her another chance?"
y/n: (shrugs) "People deserve second chances."
soobin: "[y/n] the Wise. I'm saving that as your new name in my phone."
y/n: "What's my name in your phone right now?"
soobin: "Love."
y/n: "O-oh..."
soobin: "What's wrong? You look queasy."
y/n: "No, I-I'm fine."
soobin: "Let me check." (clicks tongue) "Your face feels so hot. Maybe you're starting to get a fever. I told you to wear a jacket the other day."
y/n: "No, no, I'm okay. Really."
soobin: "Are you sure?"
y/n: "Mhm."
soobin: "Okay. Well, let's get going then. I parked on the third floor so we have to do a bit of walking."
y/n: "That's okay. I don't mind." (sighs) "So, how was your essay?"
soobin: "It was okay, I guess. I feel like I need to revise it more, though. It's not A+ material."
y/n: "I can take a look at it later, if you want. "
soobin: "Thanks." (sighs) "I just want this semester to be over."
y/n: "Why?"
soobin: "It's been a really tough one. I'm doubting myself."
y/n: "Is it hard? The professor is stacking up too many assignments?"
soobin: "It's everything. I just feel so stressed and I thought I would enjoy this. I did choose it as my major."
y/n: "Sometimes it's rough in the beginning but you can do it."
soobin: "I guess..."
y/n: "Plus, it's almost summer, right? The semester's almost over. Think about what you want to do during summer break."
soobin: "What do you mean?"
y/n: "I mean, if you want to continue studying Psychology or not."
soobin: "What else could I study? I hate Math. Science is okay but it's not my strongest suit."
y/n: "Just think about it. No pressure. For now, let's get through exams."
soobin: "Don't say the word again, chills run up my spine just at the sound of it."
y/n: (chuckles) "Exaaams."
[SOOBIN covers Y/N's mouth]
soobin: "Shh!"
y/n: (laughs)
unknown: "Um, excuse me?"
[SOOBIN turns around]
unknown: "Sorry, do you know where the south side entrance of the mall is?"
soobin: "It's actually on the other si--"
y/n: "Hueningkai!!!"
hueningkai: (jolts) "Um.... hi."
y/n: "What are you doing here?"
hueningkai: "Uh...I'm performing with my siblings. There's a talent show case."
soobin: "You know each other?"
hueningkai: "I'm sorry, I don't really remember."
y/n: "We, um... no, actually, we don't. But I think one of my really old friends knows you."
hueningkai: "Oh. Okay. Nice to meet you."
y/n: "Nice to meet you, too!"
hueningkai: "You said the south entrance is on the other side?"
soobin: "Yep, go down these stairs and then make two lefts and one right. Then keep walking straight and you'll see it on the left."
hueningkai: "Okay. Thank you."
[HUENINGKAI leaves]
soobin: "So, you were saying--"
y/n: Think fast!
y/n: (whispers) "Look at him. He still looks lost."
soobin: "Kind of. I'm sure he'll find it."
y/n: "Do you think so?"
soobin: "Hm... he does look pretty lost still... hey, Hueningkai?"
hueningkai: "Yes?"
soobin: "We could take you there, if you want."
hueningkai: "Really? That would be great, actually."
soobin: "Of course."
(silence)
y/n: (clears throat) "So, you said you're doing a talent show?"
hueningkai: (nods) "With my two sisters. We sing."
y/n: "Wow, that's so cool."
hueningkai: "Are you guys performing, too?"
y/n: "No. But we might stay and watch."
soobin: "We will?"
[Y/N elbows SOOBIN]
soobin: "We will."
y/n: "What's the talent show for?"
hueningkai: "It's a scouting contest. They're looking for people who get to train in South Korea."
y/n: Oh my god. Perfect.
y/n: "Really? How did you sign up? Is it too late to join?"
hueningkai: "My dad told us about it, so we thought we'd give it a shot. I'm not sure if it's too late or not but you can check when we get there."
soobin: "What's the training in South Korea for?"
hueningkai: "Singing and dancing."
soobin: "I see..."
hueningkai: "Do you sing?"
soobin: "No--"
y/n: "Yes."
(silence)
hueningkai: (laughs) "No or yes?"
soobin: "I mean... yeah, for fun. Nothing serious."
hueningkai: "You should sign up."
soobin: "Nah... I'm not that great."
y/n: "He is."
[SOOBIN elbows Y/N]
hueningkai: "You could always do it for fun."
soobin: "Not really my thing."
hueningkai: (shrugs) "No worries."
soobin: "Well, this is the south side entrance."
hueningkai: "Thanks again."
soobin: "You're welcome. Good luck in the show."
hueningkai: "Thanks!"
[HUENINGKAI leaves]
soobin: "Let's get going. I'm tired."
y/n: "You don't want to stay and watch the show?"
soobin: "I have a bunch of homework and that essay."
y/n: "Oh... okay, sure. Um... can I go to the bathroom really quick? You can wait out here, I won't be long."
soobin: (nods)
[Y/N enters mall]
y/n: Where did Hueningkai go.... now would be a good time for him to laugh, then I could find him faster...
announcer: "Everyone, please go backstage to practice! Form one line, thank you."
y/n: "Excuse me?"
announcer: "Are you performing?"
y/n: "No, but--"
announcer: "If you're not a performer, you can sit with the rest of the audience."
y/n: "Is this the only talent show for this contest? Is it too late to sign up?"
announcer: "No, we're doing another one."
y/n: "Oh, great!"
announcer: "Next month."
y/n: "Next month?"
announcer: (nods) "If you want to sign up, take this pamphlet. All the instructions are in there."
y/n: "Thank you so much. How long--"
[ANNOUNCER leaves]
y/n: It's alright, he's just busy. At least I got the pamphlet.
[Y/N exits the mall]
y/n: "Okay, let's go."
soobin: "Okay. Was there a long line?"
y/n: (freezes) "For what?"
soobin: "The bathroom. You went, right?"
y/n: "O-oh, right. No, there wasn't a long line."
soobin: "What's that?"
y/n: "Just a pamphlet for some upcoming sales."
soobin: "But you hate trying on clothes."
y/n: "I know. It's for... for Serena! You know how she loves to shop."
soobin: "That's true. We might need to hold an intervention for her soon. Maybe you shouldn't give her that pamphlet."
y/n: "Maybe not."
soobin: "When we get back to campus, want to come to my dorm?"
y/n: "Your dorm? For what?"
soobin: "To help me with my essay."
y/n: "Right. Okay, sure. I'll just text [best friend] and let her know I might be back late."
soobin: "Okay."
[Y/N pulls out phone]
y/n: I'm gonna be back late. Don't wait up
best friend: Why?
y/n: Soobin wants me to go back with him to his dorm. He needs help with his essay
best friend: [y/n], you're so dense
y/n: What?
best friend: He doesn't need help with his essay
y/n: But that's what he said
best friend: Essay could also be code for something else
y/n: What do you mean?
best friend: Have you kissed since you met him? The "you" now, I mean
y/n: Of course not!
best friend: Did you ever think maybe he wants to make out like you usually do?
best friend: Hellooo?
