𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲
the last weekend of summer before junior year was different for all of us..
for example , i just got out of rehab & planned on doing drugs later that night.
everyone else was planning their outfits out for mckay's party on Saturday
but desi...
desi had other things to worry about than some dumb ass party..
𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐚
"desi wake up!" manny whispered while shaking me back & forth as i quickly sat up with an attitude.
"whats wrong?"
"....im bleeding." she whispered making me fully open my eyes.
"what!"
"shhhhh mamá and papi are sleeping!" she shushed me as i looked at her like she was crazy.
"wake them up! and get off my bed, you're bleeding! come on let's go back to the bathroom." I whispered while getting up.
we tiptoed back to the bathroom that we shared.
"take off your clothes and get in the shower. ill be back." i closed the door behind me as i walked to my room and got her a change of clothes,tampons and pads.
i went back into the bathroom to hear the shower running and sniffling.
"manny are you crying?" i asked as i put all the stuff on the counter.
"mhm.."
"why?"
"am i gonna die?" she asked from behind the shower curtain as i quickly covered my mouth to conceal my loud laugh.
"no hermana, you're not gonna die. every girl goes through this. it just means you're one step closer to becoming a woman." i tried to calm her down as the sniffling eventually stopped.
"come on and get out the shower so i can show you how to put on a pad and a tampon so you won't wake me up at 5 in the morning again." i said with an attitude as i heard her giggle.

"hola , welcome to Las Piramides! how many will it be tonight?" i fake smiled as my accent rolled off my tongue.
"2." the lady responds back as I watch her intertwine her hand with, im guessing her boyfriend.
"follow me." i tried not to frown, walking them to their booth.
"enjoy your meal and night." i quickly said, walking away as my smile immediately dropped.
i saw more people waiting to be seated making me speed up my walk.
as i got closer , i realized the two people were aunt sonia & uncle ted which made me instantly smile.
"see sonia! i told you it would make her day if she saw us!" uncle ted said as aunt sonia playfully smacked him on the arm.
i erupted in laughter as she pulled me into a big hug.
"i know you like helping your parents out but you need to give yourself a break desi. you're draining yourself out and you haven't even hit 21!" she said while gently rubbing my head.
"ill quit..if you tell manny that im your favorite niece!" i smiled evilly making uncle ted bust out laughing.
"im sorry sobrina but i love you both equally.." i frowned in defeat as mamá walked up to us.
"hija stop bothering your aunt & uncle! you do this every Friday! im not losing guests because of you!" she said jokingly as she pulled them each into a hug.
"sorry mamá." i playfully rolled my eyes making her laugh at me.
"matter of fact , ill take it from here. manny said she needs your assistance in the bathroom. she said it was a "code red"?" mamá said to me as I nodded, quickly making my way towards the bathroom.
of course manny didn't tell mamá about her starting her period!
i walked into the bathroom and locked the door behind me.
"manny really code red? couldn't have been anymore obvious for mamá? and are you the only one in here?" i looked in the mirror, checking my face.
"yes im the only one in here and if i had used some other code you wouldn't have came!" she yelled, making me laugh.
she knows me so well.
"alright well what's the problem?" i watched myself in the mirror as i reapplied my clear lipgloss to my plump lips.
"my stomachs been hurting a lot today and i know if i tell papi about it, he'll think i have the flu. do you have anything that can help me? im dying?!" she yelled dramatically as i started laughing loud.
"okay calm down you're just dealing with cramps and i have some painkillers in my bag. just try to relax , ill be back."
"THANK YOU GOD!!" i heard her yell as i unlocked the door and walk out.
i heard a lot of commotion going on towards the front of the restaurant making me turn and walk towards all the commotion.
the commotion got louder and louder as i saw my parents talking to ICE.
god no..please no.
"what's going on?" i walked up to them as aunt sonia gently pulled me back.
i looked at her with fear in my eyes as i turned towards her.
"what's happening? what's wrong?"
"ICE showed up right after you left to go to the restroom, demanding to see your parents legal documents.." she whispered to me as my eyes got big.
i immediately broke down crying because i knew the truth, manny knew the truth, everyone knew the truth.
and we all knew what was gonna happen next.
uncle ted quickly held me back as i watched them handcuff my parents like they were criminals.
"NOOO!!" i screamed at the top of my lungs as I tried to get out of my uncles arms.
i watched them escort papi out as mamá turned around and mouthed "i love you." before they escorted her out as well.
at that point , i lost all my humanity.
i started kicking and screaming, trying my hardest to break loose while tears streamed down my face.
when my uncle finally let me go, i collapsed in my aunts arms as i watched ICE drive away with my parents..
