(Z/S) = Zodiac Sign!
Me and I Violet continued to talk about random things when suddenly, the doors of the admin building suddenly burst open. Me and Violet looked at Willy and Aasim, who were arguing about something.
"Because your boring and your idea is stupid!" Willy yelled, Aasim just rolled his eyes.
"Oh? I'm being stupid? Your the one that can't think straight, if you could hear yourself-"
"Guys what the fuck?" Violet yelled, looking at the two in frustration. She stood up and I did the same Willy turned to me and Violet.
"Violet told us to work on the traps together. But Aasim won't listen to anything I say!" Willy explained, I awkwardly looked at Willy and Aasim.
"That doesn't mean you need to scream at each other.." Louis replied, Clem was standing next to him. Aasim glared at him.
"Stay out of this. I have an idea for duffle bags filled with bricks, we drop them on the raiders, if they get into the admin building.. Willy here wants to use a giant idiotic swinging log, to take out one raider at most. It's completely stupid!" Aasim explained, crossing his arms.
"Your stupid!"
"Your being childish!"
"I am not! I'm trying to help!"
"So help! And stop arguing!"
"Aasim is right, we should use his brick trap. It sounds more practical." Clem spoke, cutting off their arguing.
"Mine is too!" Willy defended.
"No it isn't! It's exactly the kind of thing a child would think up, especially a child who has no idea what he's up against-" Suddenly Willy pulled back his hand and punched Aasim in the stomach. My eyes widened.
"What the shit?!" Violet yelled, she was also in shock. Willy quickly realized what he did and he ran off, I looked at Aasim.
"Woah.. are you okay?" I asked, Aasim nodded walking past us.
"Yeah fine.. shit!" Aasim cursed, holding his stomach. He walked over to the couches to sit down.
"Christ, we'll all kill each other before the raiders even get the fuckin' chance." Violet mumbled, Louis let out a sigh.
"Right, what we need is something to break the tension." Louis spoke, we turned and walked to the couch area, and we all followed. He sat on the chair next to Aasim.
"Hey buddie, hows it hanging?" Louis asked in a joking manner.
"Dude. Fuck off." Aasim snapped, Louis just shrugged off his words. I sat on the ground between Clem and Violet.
"Sulking in the corner isn't gonna help us fight off the raiders.. or turn that frown upside down Louis added, Aasim looked like he was going to stab Louis.
"You get more annoying everyday." Aasim snapped.
"Regardless.. I've come up with a plan to make everyone feel better. And that plan is a game." Louis pulled out the deck of cards, Violet looked at them awkwardly.
"Uh we haven't played a game in weeks.. since that night with Marlon.." Violet spoke, Louis began to shuffle the cards, and Aj and Tenn walked over to join us, Aj sat next to me and I gave his head a pat. Louis looked at Aasim and smirked.
"I mean, if you want to ask Ruby to come play... I don't mind waiting." Louis gestured to Ruby who Aasim was staring at, Aasim sent him a death glare.
"Shut up dude! I swear to god." Aasim hissed, looking away from him, Violet looked at him curiously.
"You've got a crush on Ruby?" Violet asked, and he stayed silent. Aj looked up at Louis.
"What are we playing?" He asked, Louis smiled at him.
"Truth or dare!" He announced. I raised an eyebrow.
"You know you don't use cards in truth or dare right?" I asked Louis, he grinned at me.
"You do in this version. Everyone gets a card, highest card gets to ask, lowest card has to answer." Louis explained, I nodded. He handed Clem the deck first, which she passed to Aj and then Aj passed to me. I grabbed a card then passed it to Violet. I looked at my card. 'The five of spades..' I looked at everyone's card, luckily I didn't have the lowest, but sadly Clem did. Violet has the highest, she chuckled to herself.
"This should be good.. let's see..." She thought for a bit before getting one.
"Truth. Marry-Fuck-Kill-"
"Vi!" Tenn objected, Violet rolled her eyes.
"Fine! Marry-FLIP-Kill." She corrected, I chuckled.
"(Y/N), Aasim, Or James.. that guy who saved you." Violet listed, my eyes widened when she said my name. I looked at Clem.
"Oh my god.." Clem muttered.
"Gotta answer, them's the rules." Louis smirked, Clem sighed.
"Mmm lets see.. I would marry.. (Y/N) of course." Clem answered, my cheeks flared up a bit.
"Well you two are very close, so it makes sense." Violet replied, I smiled.
"Well, I also think I'd make a great and loyal wife!" I defended, Clem nodded.
"I would um.. flip.." Clem began.
"Flip! Flip! Flip! Flip!..." Louis cheered, Aj joining him.
"James." Clem answered, Violet gave her a weird look.
"That's an interesting choice.." Violet told, Louis looked at Clem.
"Funny, you pronounce "horrifying" differently then I do." Louis added.
"Didn't you say he wore skin? Like human skin? I wonder if he'd take it off to.. you know what? Never mind." Violet cringed at the thought, I rolled my eyes and laughed.
"So that means your killing..." Louis began, Tenn's face brightened.
"This is amazing!" He smiled, we all looked at Aasim.
"Aasim!" Violet yelled out, Aasim let out a sigh.
"Oh thank god.." he muttered, Louis raised an eyebrow.
"What? You'd rather die then marry or flip Clem?" Louis asked, Aasim looked at Clem, flustered.
"I Uh..- n-no! I didn't mean it like that!" He stuttered, I chuckled and smiled.
"This is great, were laughing were bonding! It's a nice break from thinking about homicidal assholes sneaking into our homes to kidnap us." Louis smiled, Violet glared at him.
"Not when you bring it up..." She hissed, Louis shuffled the deck again.
"Time for round two!" He took a card and handed Clem the deck, She took another one and handed the deck to Aj, who also took one. Aj then handed it to me. I flipped mine over. '10 of diamonds...' I looked at everyone's cards and I was safe. Aasim has the low card while Clem had the high one.
"I win!" Clem cheered, Aasim pouted seeing that he lost.
"And poor Aasim loses." Louis added. Clem smirked.
"Definitely a dare." She spoke, Aasim sighed.
"Ohh okay.. do your worst." He raised an eyebrow at Clem. Clem looked at her options and smirked when one came to her head.
"You have to ask Ruby... for a kiss." Clem spoke, I chuckled.
"Seriously..!" Aasim objected, clearly flustered again.
"The most legitimate of dares." Louis added, Aasim looked at Ruby and stood up, clearly not wanting to do it. He walked up to Ruby and we all watched. we couldn't hear them speaking, Though we watched as Ruby smacked Aasim across the face. I cringed at the thought of that slap and everyone broke into laughter. I laughed along with them. Aasim walked back to the group, a red mark on his face. He looked away from us in embarrassment.
"Well, I think we all learned something about our good friend Aasim today, mainly that he has no romantic charm whatsoever." Louis smirked, Aasim gave him another death glare.
"Shut. Up." He snapped, Louis just ignored him.
"Look sharp y'all! It's time for round three!" Louis called out, handing the deck to Clem, I got the deck from Aj and grabbed a card then handed it to Violet. I looked at my card and I frowned. 'The ace of hearts...' I looked around and noticed that Louis had the high card and I had the lowest. Louis raised an eyebrow at me.
"I got it." He began, I raised an eyebrow at him.
"We've been pretty hard on poor Aasim here, teasing him about sweet Ruby.. seems like it's fair if we mercilessly tease someone else about unrequited love... so (Y/N).. anyone here you like-like?" Louis asked, everyone's eyes were on me. I feared this question but I knew I had to answer.
"Seriously.. like-like? What are you six?" Violet asked.
"Seven, thank you." Louis defended.
"Well uh.. yeah. There is someone." I spoke, Louis grinned.
"Oh ho! Who is it?!" He quickly asked, my cheeks turning a bit pink. There's is no way in hell I'm saying it.
"Pfft I'm not saying." I defended, my face pink from embarrassment.
"That wasn't in the question anyway." Clem agreed, I nodded. I tried to get over my embarrassment and the cards went around again. I grabbed one and looked at it. 'Jack of hearts' I looked around and Aasim had the high card and Tenn had the low card.
"Aasim! You got the high card, and the loser is.. Tennessee." Louis spoke, Aasim immediately knew his truth or dare.
"What's something you've never told anyone because you were afraid they'd make fun of you?" He asked. 'Woah that's a pretty deep question' Tenn thought for a second.
"I.. um.. I think... I think walkers won't always be around.. they'll.. go away someday. 'Cause the world goes in cycles, right? Ice age.. Stone Age... some other ages. So it's like that, this age will end, and another one will start." Tenn replied, everyone had a frown on their face.
"An age without walkers.." I muttered.
"Like it used to be.." Clem added, Tenn smiled at me and Clem.
"It'll be better." He finished, everyone looked at Tenn, and he seemed a bit uncomfortable.
"Why is everyone looking at me like that..? Did I ruin the game..?" He quickly asked, I shook my head.
"Tenn.. that's so sweet. I never thought about it like that.." I smiled, Clem nodded.
"Yeah. I agree with (Y/N).. that's a really beautiful way to look at it." She added, Tenn looked at us, with a big smile. I almost felt like I would start tearing up. Aj looked down though, and Tenn noticed this.
"Aj? What's wrong?" He asked, Aj looked up at everyone.
"I..I just don't know what it's like.. all of you do.. but I don't.. I don't remember a time before monsters.." Aj spoke, my heart sank. I pulled him into a side hug. Louis looked at Aj.
"You know what little dude? It's okay that you don't. Believe me, the world before this one was pretty shitty." He spoke, Aj smiled and felt a bit better. He hugged me back and I smiled. Clem gave Louis a quick nod and he nodded back.
"Anddd that feels like a good place to call it!" Everyone began to stand up and go to their respective places.
"We should finish up our work anyway, it's getting dark." Violet added, She looked at Ruby who was approaching the group.
"You on lookout?" Violet asked, Ruby nodded.
"Yup! (Y/N)'s got it after me." She answered, Aj looked at Ruby eagerly.
"Can I come?" He asked, she nodded.
"Of course you can little guy." Ruby smiled, Aj stood up and walked with Ruby towards the wall. Me, Clem, and Louis looked towards the door of the admin building where we noticed Willy sitting. Aasim walked up to him.
"Hey." Aasim spoke.
"Hey." Willy replied. It was silent for a second before Aasim continued.
"You maybe wanna help me with the brick trap?" He asked, Willy nodded giving him a smile.
"Yeah, I've got some ideas!" Willy told.
"Cool, I'm sure they'll help." Aasim nodded, they both stood up and began to walk inside.
"Sorry I punched you.."
"It's okay.. it was a pretty good punch." I chuckled and Violet stood up.
"I'm headed to the bell tower, I want to check our defences on the back before bed." She spoke, I nodded.
"Would you like some help?" I asked, she smiled at me.
"Sure if you want." She replied, Louis looked me.
"You could always help me instead!" He quickly added, He stood up.
"I'm on piano duty!" He announced, we all looked at him with a 'really' look.
"What? I gotta get in some practice before one of you decides to chop it into firewood." He defended, me and Clem both stood up.
"I've got a project I want to try.. but I need a second person." He added, he and Violet began to walk off. I looked at Clem.
"I'll help Louis, you can take a break and rest a bit it you want. She volunteered, she also nudged me a bit.
"Orr.. You and Violet can get your space~" She whispered, I froze and glared at her.
"Clem..! Oh my god!" I hissed at her, she just chuckled and jogged off, following Louis into the admin building. I sighed, deciding to help Violet out.
'Maybe Clem's right...'

I walked inside the bottom of the bell tower, Violet holding the door open for me. My eyes widened realizing how big it was. I looked at the stairs and noticed they were all broken, so we would have to climb a different way. You walked over and looked at the bell that laid broken on the ground. You turned to Violet.
"So were checking the walls right?" I asked, she nodded and turned to me.
"Yup. From up there. That's the best view." She pointed at the top, climbing the first few steps that weren't completely broken. I followed her.
"You ready for a climb?" She asked, I looked all the way up the tower. I felt a bit nervous. I nodded and walked up to the wall, Violet quickly started to climb. I looked at her.
"Uh.. this looks a little dangerous.." I chuckled, trying to calm my racing heart. What if we fell? Violet chuckled.
"What's more dangerous then walkers? Or that death trap you called a car?" She smiled, I opened my mouth but quickly shut it. I let out a sigh.
"You've got a point.." I placed my foot on the first metal pole and let out a sigh, I began to slowly climb up, being careful on where I was putting my feet.
"C'mon.. your not a chicken right?" She called out, I glared at her.
"Dude, I almost got shot. This is nothing!" I defended, trying to hide my fear. Violet chuckled. She let out a sigh.
"Now I'm thinking about chicken nuggets.. do you remember those?" She asked, I suddenly felt hungry now that she was talking about it.
"Yeah... I miss them." I chuckled, continuing to focus on climbing.
"Me too, we always got them on Sundays. There was no time for Grandma to cook between church and bible study.. so fast food." She added, I smiled.
"My mom would let me have them every Friday after school, so Friday's we're always the most exciting days." I chuckled, Violet managed to climb on to the ledge of a window and prepared herself to jump to the stairs on the other side.
"Man.. I'd give an eyeball for a chicken nugget right now!" She grinned, I shook my head, climbing up onto the ledge and looking at the staircase.
"You shouldn't.. trust me." I joked, pointing at my bad eye. Violet laughed. I let out a sigh and jumped, landing onto the staircase. I smiled, realizing we were at the top. I climbed up the small set of stairs and walked outside, my eyes widened at the sky. It was beautiful, the moon was visible and the stars seemed to dance in the sky. I walked up to the railing next to Violet and leaned over it, taking a deep breath of the air, enjoying the feeling of it blowing through my hair. I looked down at the school.
"Looks like everything's in order... just like we planned." I reassured her, she looked out at the school and nodded.
"You and Clem made it happen, we wouldn't have been able to do it without you two." She spoke, I shook my head.
"You all did a great job, and we all worked for this together. Don't give me and Clem all the credit.. besides you guys had the courage to trust us.. so thank you for that." I told, Violet smiled at me and I smiled back. She quickly looked away, but continued to take quick glances at me every once and a while.
"You've got lookout duty tonight right?" She asked, I nodded. She walked past me then slowly turned around.
"Do you have time to hangout first..?" She asked, my eyes widened and my cheeks felt warm. I nodded.
"Yeah.. sure.." I agreed, she walked behind the bell tower and to a small roof, I followed her and continued to look at the stars. The moon was so pretty.
"The sky is so nice tonight." I smiled, Violet nodded.
"Sometimes I need the quiet. Just to get away for a while..." She spoke, I looked up at the sky again as we stayed silent. After a moment Violet turned to me.
"(Y/N).."
"Yeah?" I turned to her.
"I know you guys came back for medicine.. for Aj. But after that you could've just left. Avoided all the bullshit with the raiders.. why didn't you?" She asked, my eyes widened a bit.
"I couldn't do that to you Violet.. Aj could have died without your help.. I had to help you guys, we knew we couldn't abandon you.. but, I'm glad we stayed since I got to be around you.." I smiled, my cheeks turning a light pink. Violet smiled.
"I'm glad.." She replied, I looked up at the sky and watched the stars.
"Do you know any constellations (Y/N)?" She asked curiously, I chuckled.
"No sadly.. And even if I did I definitely wouldn't remember them by now.." I laughed, she smiled at me.
"Let's make some up." Violet gestured to the floor, sitting down.
"Come over here, you can sit down without falling to your death." She explained. I sat down next to her.
"Great, definitely didn't want to die that way." I grinned, she let out a chuckle. We both looked up at the stars again.
"If I remember right.. everyone is born under a special sign, right? It determines your personality." She spoke, I looked at her and laughed.
"I think those are called Zodiac's Violet.. if I can remember.. I think I was a (Z/S).." I corrected, trying to remember what sign I was. Violet shrugged.
"Whatever, lets just make up our own.. rules.. signs.. What it says about you, it's not like anyone remembers the old way.." She began to search the sky and pointed to a patch of stars.
"There! See? It's a fish." She continued to point and I followed her finger, connecting the stairs together.
"Oh I see it! Now for its personality.." I replied, Violet smiled.
"Bright, pretty, good with other people, always moving, tons of energy, sounds like anyone we know?" She asked. I nodded, knowing the answer immediately.
"Definitely me." I spoke, Violet looked at me.
"Yeah, I can see it pretty well.." She smiled, I smiled back at her. She then looked at the sky again.
"I spy with my eye.. a knife. See it? Right there." She pointed, I followed her finger and traced the knife and nodded.
"Yup! I see it." I chuckled, Violet nodded.
"Awesome. Mm.. this ones easy. Smart, Clean, Vicious... somebody you would want in a fight... doesn't take shit from anyone. Gets shit done." She explained, I thought about it for a moment the smiled.
"That one is definitely Clem. When I'm in dangerous situations, I always feel safer when she's there." I spoke, Violet nodded.
"Yeah, that's a good one for her.. wish everyone would have seen all that sooner.." She muttered, I nodded. She looked at the stars again.
"Okay. One more time. I found a bird." She pointed and I began to trace it again. I looked curiously at the sky until I finally noticed it.
"I see it now.." I chuckled, she nodded.
"A bird is free.. it could go anywhere it wanted to.. up and up and never come back. Go south, east, west... doesn't matter. You could fly straight into a sunset and see where it ends.." She spoke, I turned to her.
"That sounds like something you would like to do.. but I would also like to do the same.. haha.." I chuckled, she turned to me.
"Yeah.. sometimes. When it all feels so heavy down here.. I can't help but wonder what it would be like to be weightless..." she muttered. I sighed.
"Yeah.. me too.." I agreed.
"Maybe we could learn to fly together someday.." She replied, I nodded and we stared at each other for a little bit, she quickly looked away.
"Sorry.. I didn't mean to just.. talk so much.." She spoke, she turned around and looked at me again.
"It's just.. I've watched people leave before.. family, friends.. they never come back. But.. you did.. and now I can't imagine what it would be like if you weren't here.." She admitted, my eyes widened and I blushed a bit.
"Um... shit.. that sounds a lot dumber when I say it out loud.." She chuckled awkwardly, I smiled. I sighed and decided I should just tell her, it was only fair to let her know my true feelings.
"Violet.. I.." She turned to me and listened. I smiled.
"I really like you Violet.. as well.. more than a friend. Ever since I talked to you for the first time, I knew I wanted to be closer with you, and now.. I have even bigger feelings.. and well.. yeah I really like you.. so.." I turned to her, her face was a bit red. I sighed and closed my eyes, and leaned closer to her. I was about to kiss her, but worried she might pull away. But she didn't. We were kissing, my heart was beating so fast, but it felt so right. Soon enough the kiss ended. And I tried to avoid eye contact.
"Holy shit.." Violet muttered, I tried not to die of embarrassment.
"Heh.. so.. um.. that was nice..? I g-guess.." I chuckled, Violet smiled.
"I mean.. holy shit.." She smiled, I looked up at the sky and sighed. Suddenly I felt a hand on top of my hand. I turned to Violet and she smiled at me. I smiled back and wrapped our hands together, and we both continued to look at the stars. I was about to say something, when a voice called out to me from the bottom of the bell tower.
"Vi! (Y/N)! You out here?" The voice called, I recognized it as Ruby's voice. I turned to Violet.
"Shitsticks.." She muttered, I chuckled.
"Sounds like it's time for my lookout shift.." I spoke, Violet sighed and looked at the sky once more.
"Yeah.." She agreed, with both stood up and began walking, I grabbed her hand and she smiled. I sighed as I stared at the moon one last time.
This was one of the best days ever.
