"Another day, another dollar." I entered the record shop. The record shop that holds almost every album ever known. For a small place, it holds more than one could expect. It held a sentimental value to me. Well, mostly the vintage aspects of it.
Thankful for the choice to actually pick an album to play throughout the store. It helps bring up our sales supposedly if the customers don't know the songs. Everyone knows Shinee. They're my go-to with helping me get throughout the day. Scanning through the latest albums, I picked up EXO's latest album. I'm a fan of all SM entertainment groups.
"You like EXO?" Some voice spoke behind me. And I thought the store was empty. I had yet to even clock in yet. I hope I'm not late.
"Yeah, what about you?" setting the album down only for our hands to skim against each other. His face, rather small and cute. He looked pretty young and around my age if I was wondering.
"Yeah, they've inspired me a lot along with Shinee. How long have you been working here?" He asked starting directly at my name tag. Come to find out he had on the same name tag that I did as well. The real question was when did he start working here? And how come I am just now meeting him?
"Four months. And you? I haven't seen you here at all." He chuckled due to my lack of acknowledging my coworkers. I don't blame myself, I was set on my own when I started here. Names was the last thing I had to worry about.
"Eight months. I've been on vacation due to promoting with my group. This is my side job. Shocked that you didn't know who I was." Little did I know, I was following right behind him as he went to clock in. Reminded me once again that I should clock in.
"Oh, what group? And sorry I'm not really good at recognizing people so I'm not sure who you are yet. Not offending you or anything." I stared at the door waiting for any customers. Our busy hours aren't until two hours after open. Stocking would be taken in place now, it takes a while for restocking once the rush is over.
"No offense taken. I am apart of NCT and NCT Dream. Not quite known yet since we've just debuted about 3 years ago. The other sub unit is more well known than mines. I'm not complaining. But this is the first person that hasn't had a clue who I was. It's nice to feel unknown again." His head hung low. He must have been pretty overwhelmed by the fans and paparazzi. Not to mention that he looks pretty young to even deal with such a thing. Brings me to the next thing that I pondered for the last 15 minutes. How old is he? He has to be at least 17. But I would say the personality and maturity are older than he looks.
"How old are you? You don't necessarily have to answer it. Some people really despise the fact of opening up to someone who they just met. Take me for an example." He laughs catching me off guard. "You're fine, a lot of people ask me because I have the face of a baby and the attitude of a young adult. By the way, I am 18." Nearly choking on air. I wasn't expecting 16 to be honest.
"18? Really? You act your age but your face. Wow, you really look like a baby." That was the last comment I could say because the rush started early. It was nice for me to actually have a small but comfortable conversation with someone I didn't expect to meet. A celebrity at that. I might have to look into NCT. They sound like a pretty interesting group. They must be all around his age.
Once the sudden rush died down, I was left alone. My fellow coworker had left due to my managers demands and I haven't heard or seen him since. But I did happen to look into the group and Stan them as well. More than I did with any SM entertainment solo artist or groups.
When will I ever get to see him again? Maybe not for another three to four months. But at least the time I got with him was genuinely appreciated. Probably the only coworker I happen to get to know and liked. I guess the next four months is going to be worth the wait.
