."Virat the Koala bear?" ft. The ICT.
Shreyas was wandering totally frustrated around the team hotel. He was in a very very bad mood and even their recent win couldn't cheer up his mood. The words carelessly thrown towards him in yesterday's match kept on swirling in his mind like a fucking tornado and he didn't know how to get rid of all these thoughts. All these emotions, all these undirected emotions and anger was torturing his soul.
The words just won't leave him in peace. He knows the words were meant to pierce his heart and get in his skin, the words were meant to hurt and distract him. After all, the legendary sledging of the Australian team couldn't be seen under any other lens.
"Shreyas man, I know you don't like Kohli. No one likes him as a bloke but still how does having him as a captain feels?"
"Is that cry baby really cry baby?"
"Who hates the captain most?"
"Well other than Rohit obviously?"
"You know you guys embrace each other a little too much."
"Btw did you get spanked too in the Indian dressing room?"
"I mean even the five-star hotels are like Oyo rooms to you guys, isn't it?"
"Can you hit this ball for six Shreyas baby or like your captain sixes aren't your department."
The words won't, just won't leave him in peace. The bruises from the body hitting balls weren't paining him as much as the words were. They won't leave him, they just won't. He could feel himself about to breakdown in the ground either fighting or crying with the opposition team when his captain jumped to his rescue. He thought they were his friends and maybe that's why the words were hurting him so much.
Or maybe it was the fact that he hadn't faced this disgusting level of sledging ever. Anyway, he couldn't bear the disgusting words. The words were eating him from inside.
And what was hurting him more was Virat bhai getting hurt because of him. He had this amazing brain fade moment in the middle of game hearing such words that he almost lost his wicket when the ball hit his gloves so hard that he felt like his thumb had cracked. His expression must have been really-really painful and pitiful that the next ball Virat Bhai took a blind run almost getting out at 48 runs in his quest of getting him on the non-striker's end.
And then in a true Virat Kohli manner, Virat bhai punished the bowler with ultimate class on his behalf. Shreyas couldn't help but be really-really happy for Virat as he congratulated him on another half-century.
"Oye, Shrey aaram se set hoja fir dhoyio in bsdko ko, aur jiske khilaf uncomfortable lage na bol diyo, I'll take the strike" Instead of hearing the congratulations on fifty, Virat bhai told him seriously patting his shoulder in an ultimate I'm with you manner.
The next few balls Virat bhai blasted both the good and bad balls around the stadium. He was in his ultimate chase master form and Shreyash didn't know, "What kind of suicidal thought hit the Aussies that they started sledging Virat using him?"
"Getting riled up for your hater...Veerat?" He could clearly hear the bowler say casually to Virat bhai when Virat bhai was discussing something with the umpire.
"Who's getting riled up mate?"
"Of course you, for your mate there." The bowler repeated his words carelessly to Virat who was internally cursing him to the end of worlds using such words that even the censor board will die of heart attack hearing them but outwardly maintained a cool denamour.
"Go bowl man and you won't understand the relations here. so, go do your job without getting blasted all over the stadium."
"Well, quite possessive aren't you Kowli, jumping in the defence of that crybaby fatso bowler of yours and now, this Shreyas too who even once said that he doesn't like those captain's who loses their temper in the ground and lets their emotions all out. Do you know any such captain? A captain who does this like in every match."
"I didn't know you had so much free time to watch Shreyas interviews, but as I said earlier he is my brother which relation is maybe just to complicated for you to understand btw do your job you brainfu**er, whimsical sluggish jerk of a bowler."
To be truthful Shreyas was ready to cry hearing those words from Stonins or go to Virat and explain to him that he didn't mean it like that. But he didn't need to as Virat's next words filled him with love and gratitude for his captain.
The match had ended with a winning six by his bat as Virat gave him the strike not going for his hundred and let him finish the innings as a perfect revenge on the Aussies or maybe it was because of all the balls that hit both of them in fake runout attempts.
He could almost feel his breath stop when the bowler threw the ball at Virat Bhai who was standing on the crease which hit him directly in the chest and he fell down due to the force and then hit the next ball for a Kholistastic six but still, Shreyas could almost feel himself die out of worry for his Captain who has suddenly started occupying a permanent place in his heart.
So, here he was running around their hotel in Adelaide trying to disperse all the angry, guilty and frustrated thoughts clouding him.
But he just couldn't so frustrated he decided to go back to his room but instead of going back to his room. He landed himself in Yuzi's room where to his ultimate surprise Harry, Navdeep, Rishu and Jassi were playing PUBG quite intensely while Kuldeep and Yuzi seem to be watching something on their phone.
Not knowing what to do he hovered quite awkwardly on the door. He wanted to go check on Virat bhai but at the same time, he didn't think he could face him alone right now. Plus Rohit Bhaiya, Manish and Bhuvi were hovering around Virat like mother hens looking at him like any moment now he'll fall down unconscious and they all have to be around him to catch him.
"Oye, Shreya!!! What are you doing standing there?" Harry yelled noticing Shreyas standing near the door looking quite lost.
"Yeah, Shrey everything alright buddy?" Jassi asked Shreyas concerned about the totally lost looking boy.
After every match, it's Shreyas who tries to cheer everyone up but today he himself seems lost after the match. Did Virat bhai scold him during their batting time? Jassi thought looking at the still lost and gloomy Shreyas as everyone else also noticed this. After all, Virat Bhaiya seemed really fired up out there for some reasons.
Noticing Shreyas not making any move both Navdeep and Rishu walked up to him and steered him inside and made him sit on the bed. The game of PUBG closed as all of them concentrated on the gloomy Shreyas.
When suddenly from Kulya's phone comes Virat's laughter filled voice:" pta ni sir voh nikal jati hai, kisi ki taraf nhi hoti bs nikal jati hai."
"Umm...what are you watching Kuldeep bhaiya or yeh kis context main bola bhai ne?" Rishu asked Kulya innocently looking curious while Harry just snatched the phone from Kulya's hand, backed the video a few second and played it from there.
It was Virat in Aap ki Adalat and the anchor was asking him about his cuss words and whom he cusses in the middle of the matches.
"This is totally a lie, " Harry declared with a totally shocked face
"Umm...Why are you watching Virat Kohli's thug life videos, Kulya?" Yuzi asked Kulya looking all confused by why his little brother was stalking Virat bhai on YouTube?
"I was feeling bored and it's fun," Kulya answered sheepishly as all the others around him groaned at the biggest fanboy of Virat. He was even watching Virat bhai's videos in free time.
"Virat Bhai is looking even cuter than our Rishu boy here," Harry said grinning noticing a Virat clinging to Yuvi pa like a Koala clinging to a tree in a video.
And just like that all of their interest was being piqued up and they started watching the videos. In one moment they heard Virat bhai say "I don't fight. I don't like to fight."
"Koi Rohit Bhaiya ko yeh video dikhana. He'll definitely say his whole life had been a lie if this is true." Rishu said laughing hard at Virat's innocent and sincere expression during that video.
And then after sometime when a girl asked Virat what kind of hero he wants to be in a movie? Action or romantic. Virat questioned her back asking her "who told you I am starring in a movie in the first place?" And she replied that she had heard it in news and Virat Bhai goes all "suno news walo ki itni mat suna kro." And he was sitting in a news channel set while saying these words.
"Virat bhai is Savage. God this is better than calling Kjo's movie overrated in his own show." Harry announced howling with laughter as the others laughed with him.
"Areey, our Chiku bhaiya is a legend." Yuzi agreed wholeheartedly with Harry.
And they continued watching the videos on one Kohli of their team. The crazy celebration after C-13 or the way Virat always jumped up hugging someone like a koala bear with legs and arms wrapped around the other person during his celebrations. He looked absolutely like a kid in someone's arms and most of the time he was clinging to Yuvi pa.
"Yeh Virat bhai aise goddi charte the, yeh mujhe bilkul ni malum tha." Harry said looking surprised at the others.
"Well, mujhe bhi ni," Yuzi said looking all startled too.
"Oye look at this one, " Harry said cackling with laughter when Yuvi pa unknowingly back flipped Virat.
After Yuvi pa took the wicket of Australia during 2013 Australian series. Virat bhai was clinging to Yuvi pa from back, hugging his neck like he was expecting Yuvi pa to give him a piggyback ride and suddenly Yuvi pa bowed down a little and Virat Bhai who was hanging on his back was tossed down on the ground like a potato sack and then everyone was checking on him surprised.
"Yeh krna kya chahte the yaha?" Yuzi asked the team, in general, taking his sceptical reporter tone as everyone started laughing.
And then they played a video of 2011 or 12 where their own Hitman Sharma was abusing a drunk man with classy abusive words which will make Virat bhai very proud.
"My whole life has been a lie." Harry declared watching Ro speak to the man " ben stokes" "ch****yapanti" and "dusri baar bola na wahi aakr bat se marunga"
"Mine too" Rishu and Nav declared looking totally lost.
"Yeh apna Rohitaa e hai na?? Ya Virat ki aatma ghus gyi hai iske andar?" Yuzi demanded from them looking like the world has suddenly turned upside down.
Jassi who agreed with both of them wanted to add two cents of his own on the whole matter but noticed the silent Shrey beside him with still a somewhat forced smile, decided to ask him what's wrong with him first?
"Oye, Shrey what happened to you buddy??" Jassi asked Shrey looking concerned.
"Everything alright, Shrey?" Kulya asked Shreyas pulling him in for a side hug. According to Kulya hugs makes everything alright.
After all, Virat bhai hugs him tightly whenever he feels down and after that, he doesn't feel much worse.
"Oye, What happened to you? Virat ne kuch bola? You know he says many things in the heat of the moment and for Virat BC is an emotion, don't mind his jungleepan and if you want I can talk to him about this matter. He will listen to me, absolutely." Everyone present in the room knew Harry was bluffing. In front of Virat, he'll go all Virat bhai stammer and won't utter even two words if Virat glares at him even once but still no, one called him out on that bluff.
After all chotte bhaiyo k samne izzat ki aisi taisi kaise krte, bichare Harry ki?
"Yeah, Shrey don't worry Virat bhaiya didn't mean anything by his BCs or Bsdks or any new innovative slang word he invented in the middle of the field," Jassi told Shreyas kindly agreeing with Harry and thinking What the world was coming too? He was agreeing with Harry of all the people out there.
"It wasn't Virat bhai, It was the Aussies they were sledging Virat Bhai.." Shreyas couldn't even complete his statement as Harry spoke in a very relaxed and casual manner cutting Shreyas words looking all gleeful.
"Areey Shreyas don't worry if in the moment of heat you've used some words from Virat bhai's dictionary on the Aussies. It's perfectly fine. You don't have to be so much depressed about it. You know the calm and composed Rahul right. Yeah, Yeah that guy who won't be caught dead cursing. Yeah, absolutely the one who wants Virat with him while getting mobbed. Yeah, He threw a death glare towards wade when he entered the ground as drinks boy during 2017 when our dearest Captain was batting and they sledged him in front of him and then you must remember my magical innings." Harry finished with a charming boastful smile towards Shreyas.
While Jassi silently pondered what Harry was actually trying to do here?
"But I didn't say anything and Virat bhai got hurt because of me." A very dejected Shreyas announced to the whole room looking down gloomily.
"What do you mean?"Jassi asked immediately very alert as even Yuzi and Kulya who were silently waiting for Jassi to handle the whole situation looked very alert and not happy at all, remembering the numerous times the Aussies has physically tried to harm Virat bhaiya especially when they are in Australia.
"It was intentional but Virat bhai didn't once say so?" Kulya asked them looking both panicked and worried at the same time.
Virat bhai didn't once mention the balls hitting him during the runout thing was intentional and he didn't even react at all in any way that they could have analyzed it as intentional.
"I had a feeling but....." Yuzi started but stopped noticing the look both Jassi and Harry were giving him.
And so, Shreyas narrated whatever happened when Virat and he were on the ground to the six players surrounding him. By the time, he was finished. Harry, Jassi, Kulya, Rishu, Yuzi and Nav were fuming in so much anger and hate that they looked like they were seriously plotting to murder the whole team.
"Those bloody ba****ds, I'll fucking kill them slowly, roast them on their own grounds. I'll burn them alive, how dare they?" Hardik yelled with a bloodthirsty glint in his eyes.
"I'll help," Yuzi vowed
"I'll break their heads too" Jassi promised, no one badmouthed his Virat bhaiya, hurt his team and gets away unscathed.
"We'll help too...." Rishu and Nav promised, no one messed with their team and walked away unscathed.
"Whose head you guys are planning to break?" The calm voice of Bhuvi interrupted their revenge planning as Bhuvi looked at all of them with an "explain" look.
"Umm... Bhuvi bhai, " Shreyas tried to say thinking it was his matter to handle but Harry again beat him to it.
"Bhuvi bro, they hurt Virat. It was all intentional again. I knew it, " Harry said all fired up.
"Hurt, intentional? I'm not getting it, Harry. Is Virat hiding another injury?" Bhuvi asked Harry looking not at all happy.
"No, " and with that Harry along with Shreyas explained the whole matter to Bhuvi.
"B*****ds, after all, if they can sledge Virat on his shoulder injury they can do this too." Bhuvi spat looking so angry and they have never seen him angry.
Rishu cowered a little away from Bhuvi watching his furious stance.
Kulya who was mostly the clam cool emotional kid was channeling his inner Virat Kohli.
Yuzi was furious on behalf of his Virat bhaiya and Shreyas.
And well, Harry was just feeling murderous. How dare they mock his Virat and Shreyas using his words from that damned show? He hated that show and that Johar like no one else.
That damn show didn't know the concept of editing. He should just never meet the ICT again, forget, invite anyone else from the team in that damned show if he wanted to live a peaceful life.
"Umm... Bhuvi Bhaiya, why did Virat bhai stop being this Koala bear?" Shreyas asked Bhuvi frowning lightly.
"What? When did Virat become Koala bear?" Bhuvi asked back sounding all confused? Did these guys do some kind of sasta nasha?
"Watch this na Bhuvi bhaiya. Virat bhai seemed so happy jumping in the arms of Yuzi pa, " Rishu said placing the phone in front of Bhuvi's face.
Bhuvi's eyes scanned the video playing in front of him. A video from a time, where he was the kid of the team quite like the people sitting in front of him today.
He couldn't help but smile genuinely remembering those days of being the uncaring kids.
"Well, we grew up. At that time we had older brothers. Brothers who used to carry us and watch our backs, now we have younger ones we need to carry and look after." Bhuvi informed Rishu smiling ruffling his hair.
Rishu, Nav, Shreyas, Kul, Yuzi and even Harry looked quite touched by Bhuvi's words.
But how can Yuzi and Harry be caught getting emotional at Bhuvi's words? Wouldn't it be like damaging their reputation?
So, both of them added flamboyantly "we are the best brothers too, aren't we guys?"
"I carry all of your burdens, you should be very grateful. You insolent brats." Harry said acting extremely tired by all the work, he does for the team.
And how can Yuzi, go back without any comments on this matter?
"Well, no one works as hard as me in this team. I do batting, bowling, entertainment and even give coaching to Virat, Rohit and Rahul on how to bat. Plus, motivate the youngsters. I really work very hard." Yuzi said sighing and wiping imaginary sweat beads from his forehead.
"Ha, ha bilkul saara kaam toh tum dono hi krte ho. Saari duniya ka bojh toh tum dono ne hi utha rkha hai." Bhuvi said sarcastically rolling his eyes.
Everyone tried very hard to control their laughs but couldn't control them watching the pouting Yuzi and Harry.
"But can't they celebrate like that once more? Can't we make them celebrate like that once more? Can't we make Virat do that??" Shreyas asked Bhuvi looking very anxious as his expectant eyes locked with Bhuvi's troubled ones.
"I don't think so, kiddo," Bhuvi said sorrily as he noticed the dejected look on Shreyas face.
The words spoken today, have pierced Shreyas heart and he wanted to do something. Something for Virat. But, alas the Koala Kohli have been lost along with those celebrations and the fearless arrogant eyes boring at your soul.
No, one of them liked to see a dejected Shreyas. They know what happens when the words get stuck in the head.
Harry may sound uncaring most of the times but he cared. He cared very much for his brothers and so, he decided he'll be the one liberating Shreyas from his inner torment with his ideas.
"Well, if we can't bring back the Koala Kohli. We can be that can't we? We can celebrate like that after breaking their heads and doing some good stuff." Harry put forward his idea looking around the room expectantly
And as he expected, everyone's eyes lit up with excitement at his idea. He knew he was a genius. It's just people don't understand his genius ideas easily.
"Yes, yes that'll be wonderful" Shreyas admitted looking really excited.
"Though Kulya can Virat bhai really carry you as a Koala bear stuck on him?" Harry asked Kulya with a light teasing look on his face.
"Oye" Yuzi came to defend his Kulya but this time Kulya spoke before Yuzi.
"Of course, Harry Bhaiya. Virat Bhaiya can do that easily after all he isn't you."
"Umm...guys, Rohit was calling you for dinner," Rahul announced entering the room but the suddenly backed away noticing the looks they were giving him.
"No, I'm not doing it, Harry. Whatever crazy idea you formulated I'm not part of it." Rahul denied firmly well aware of his bestie and that crazy look in his eyes.
"Even if it's for Virat bhai, Rahul?" Shreyas demanded from Rahul. No one was spoiling their wonderful revenge on those Aussies.
"Okay, what's it?" Rahul asked sighing. His friends we're going to be the death of him.
"Well, it's mission Koala bear."
"Umm...Rohit's venture?" Rahul asked sounding really confused by the name.
"No, silly hear me out before interrupting okay" Harry reprimanded his friend frowning annoyed for being interrupted at the middle of his words.
So, with the other piping in every now and then they explained everything to Rahul. Along with their wonderful plan for revenge on the Aussies and how they were going to mimic a younger Virat, Rohit and Jadu on the field. All of them were going to let their emotions out without any worries, after all, they have their brothers to watch their backs.
And the Aussies won't know what hit them? With all the youngsters wearing their hearts on their sleeves and playing letting both their tempers and emotions flare.
