Chapter 62

"Mrs. Soon-to-be-Jackson, wake up! I want to see those beautiful eyes." Michael chirps happily.

I groan and turn the other way, on my side.

A woman needs her sleep.

A pregnant woman, especially.

"Sweetheart come on. Time to start the day," He says.

I groan louder, hiding my face in the pillows, hoping he'll get the hint.

I'm tired!

"Stubborn, but that's why I love you."

He turns my body around and kisses me, over and over.

"Michaellll," I groan, not being able to control the expanding smile invading my features.

"What? I know you love my lovely kisses of love."

I burst out in sheer laughter and plant a lingering kiss on his smooth cheek.

"Okay, now you're just being goofy."

He nuzzles his face gently into my neck. "You know, I live to hear that perfect laugh," he whispers.

My cheeks redden and I sigh. "How did I get so lucky?"

He grins while bringing my hand up to his mouth, and peppering it with sweet kisses.

"It's time to start the day," He says.

"Hmm, ten minutes," I mutter.

"Alondra, sweetheart you have slept enough. Get up for me. Please?" I dare take a glance up at him and he's pouting.

That perfect face always makes me give in to anything he wants.

"Okay, okay."

"Yay!-"

"But! One condition," I interrupt with a mischievous smile.

"Oh no, what is it? Lay it on me."

"You have to cook breakfast!"

Michael fakes a disappointed look and sighs dramatically.

"Scrambled or sunny-side-up?"

"Surprise me," I giggle, finally getting up and stretching out my muscles.

"Alrighty, I'll try my best to cook for my wife."

I beam at him. "Almost wife."

He walks up to me and laces his arms around my hips.

"As far as I'm concerned, you've always been my wife. Now, it's official, because of the ring and the title."

He kisses my temple, and then my stomach.

"You're the sweetest." I breathe.

Reluctantly, I unlatch myself from him and walk into the bathroom while Michael heads to make us breakfast.

I step into the bathroom and gaze at myself in the mirror.

This is me. A twenty year-old, four months pregnant, engaged, woman.

And most importantly, I'm happy. And I'm loved.

I have the most ridiculous smile across my face as I freshen up.

My life is exactly where I want it to be. Ultimately because of him.

--

I descend down the stairs happily while side-braiding my still-wet hair.

"Is that my queen?" Michael approaches me and gives me a sweet kiss.

"Hurry hurry, before breakfast gets cold."

I saunter into the dining room, greeted by a plate of chocolate chip pancakes and fresh orange juice.

"This is a surprise! I was expecting eggs," I turn to him.

"Thought I'd go for something else," He shrugs with a smile.

"Looks great. Thank you baby."

Michael pulls out the chair for me and I sit down, taking my first bite soon after.

I slump my shoulders and close my eyes. "Mmm. This is incredible," I say with my mouth full.

He giggles. "Maybe I'm a good cook after all."

"You are! No question about that."

I scarf down the rest of the fluffy pancakes, extremely thankful that Michael piled them high.

I wash and dry my hands off at the sink.

"Thank you, Michael. I'm glad that you got those pancakes perfect on your second try."

"What do you mean by 'second try'?" He asks me.

I place my hand on my hip. "Honey, I'm not oblivious to the fact that you burned the first batch of pancakes. I can perceive the smoke in the air."

He blushes and I laugh before embracing him. "I think it's adorable, don't worry."

"Can't get anything past you, girl."

I chuckle again. "Plans for today?"

He hoists me into his arms suddenly but gently, causing me to squeal. It's baffling how he still has all that energy.

"How would you like to go on a picnic?"

"Sounds lovely," I kiss his lips.

"I know. I'm full of the best ideas."

"You're full of yourself." I say, trying to be serious but we both end up laughing.

I roll my eyes up to the ceiling as he puts me down again.

I place a grasp on his forearm. "Come with me."

"Where?"

"To the nursery," I answer, already leading him up the stairs. "There's a feeling in there, that's almost indescribable. When I walk in, I feel peace and serenity."

"And I know exactly what you mean."

We reach the end of the hallway and I push open the door.

My heart drops in my stomach, and my gut wrenches. The scene that I observe in the room isn't peaceful. It's anything but.

The walls are painted over with an ugly mixture of yellow and blue. The cans of paint were knocked down and seeping into the carpet. The artwork that was once on the walls is destroyed, and all of the plush stuffed animals are ripped and shredded at the seams.

It's when I turn to the far corner that I see "Watch out" painted on the wall.

Tears surfaced as I covered my mouth with my hand.

"Who.. who would do this?" I choke back a sob as Michael rubs my back softly.

He's dumbfounded, in utter disbelief.

"Why?" The tears stream and my heart is pounding.

Watch out? My mind instantly goes to Tatiana but she wouldn't go to this extent. Would she?

"Michael... everything, ruined," I whisper and walk farther into the room.

I hear a creaking in the floor under the carpet, and suddenly the floor gave way.

I thought it swallowed me up but then I realized that just my leg fell through.

I scream, terrified. "Michael!! Help me!"

He shoots into action and pulls me up, hugging my close to his body.

We hurry out of that room and Michael sits me down, tending to my scrapes and wounds on my leg.

I try to stop crying but I can't. I continue to tremble. Does one thing always have to go wrong?

"That was too close of a call. I never want to see you in pain." He says.

I sniffle and Iook at him, teary-eyed.

"This was no mistake."

"I know this. And once I find out who it was, it won't be good for them."

"Michael." I say seriously with great fear in my voice. "I don't know why and I don't know who, but someone is trying to kill me."
