After school I applied at five different places, hoping to get a job at one of them.

I call the doctor and schedule a check-up for tomorrow after school.

My phone rings and it's Ricky.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Are you gonna let me see my kids?" he asks.

"If you help out," I state.

"I will," he says.

"Ricky baby come back to bed," I hear a girl voice in the background.

Fiona.

"Fuck you," I growl, hanging up.

my phone rings again, and I don't recognize the number.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Hi, is this Josephine?" a man asks.

"Yes it is."

"This is the manager of Starbucks. I got your application and I would like to interview you. Does Thursday work?" he asks.

"yes it does. Thank you."

"No problem."

School goes by fast the next day. I avoided Ricky and Luke agreed to go to my doctors appointment with me.

"Thanks for coming with me," I grin.

I drive to the doctor we had last time, even though it's a town over.

Nurse Benefield calls us back almost immediately.

She checks everything.

"You look fine," she grins.

"Is it gonna hurt when I have the twins?" I ask.

"Well there is a high possibly you'll have a C-section," she says.

"Okay."

The next day, Wednesday, school goes by fast. I walk into gym and everyone is staring.

"Is she fat or is she pregnant?" Kendall scoffs.

"Knock if off Kendall," Paige grits her teeth.

"She's pregnant!" Samantha giggles.

Ricky just sits there.

"Yes, I'm pregnant, and the dad is a deadbeat lowlife who is already in another relationship," I state.

"Enough. All of you," Ricky says, looking pissed.

I'm glad my comment pissed him off.

I go outside and sit on the bleachers while the rest of the class walks around the track.

My phone rings and Chase's name appears.

"Hey Chase," I smile.

"What's up?" he asks.

"In gym class, sitting on the bleachers outside," I groan.

"You want some company tonight? Luke and I wanna come over," he laughs.

"Yeah that's fine. I totally need you both to get my mind off things," I smile.

"See you then."

"What do you want me to order for dinner?" Luke asks.

"Pizza," I smile.

Luke orders Papa Johns and we watch Jackass 2.

The pizza arrives and we sit in the kitchen.

"So any luck with jobs yet?" Chase asks.

"I have an interview tomorrow at Starbucks," I smile.

"Good luck," Luke smiles.

"I hope I get the job. I need it honestly," I say.

"I have detention tomorrow," Luke groans.

"For what?" Chase asks.

"Calling Ricky a prick," Luke chuckles.

"He deserved it," I giggle.

"I know he did."

School went by fast the next day and soon after I was driving to Starbucks for my interview.

I walk inside and up to the lady at the cash register.

"I'm Josephine and I'm here for my interview," I say.

"Right this way," she smiles.

She leads me to the boss's office.

"I'm Phil," he shakes my hand.

He looks to be in his 40s.

"Jordan," I smile.

I sit down.

"So why do you want a job here?" he asks.

"I'm pregnant with twins, so I kinda need the money," I say.

"Are there any hours you can't work?" he asks.

"School hours, but I want to work as many hours as possible," I say.

"Do you have a resume?" he asks.

I hand him my resume, I.D, and background check.

"Would you be okay to start training now?" he asks.

"Yes sir! Thank you so much!" I grin.

He hands me a starbucks apron.

"You make 8 dollars an hour. For work you'll need black pants and any shirt since your apron covers it. I'll get Lauren to help you train," he says.

"Thanks so much!" I grin.

"No problem."
