*wearing the same outfit as last chapter*
*(Y/N) POV:*
I was sneaking behind Steve and Dustin, trying to be quiet when I heard them talking about the whole Dart situation.
"All right, so let me get this straight. You kept something you knew was probably dangerous in order to impress a girl who.... who you just met?" Steve asked trying to clarify the whole thing. I silently chuckled and rolled my eyes creeping behind them. (*cough* Joe Goldberg? Is that you? *cough*)
"All right, that's grossly oversimplifying things," Dustin threw some meat on the railroad tracks.
"I mean, why would a girl like some nasty slug anyway?" Steve scoffed.
"An inter-dimensional slug? Because it's awesome," Dustin retorted.
"Well even if she thought it was cool, which she didn't, I... I just..." Steve trailed off. "I don't know. I just feel like you're trying way too hard man."
"Well, not everyone can have your perfect hair, all right? It's easy for you to get girls. Like (Y/N)," Dustin did the eyebrow thingy.
"What do you... what do you mean?" Steve asked.
"I mean, the way you guys look at each other? The way she looks at you. Dude she's in love with you. Just like you're in love with her," Dustin said stating facts. I was still behind them and wanted to make myself present, but waited a little longer. (Dustin our here exposing everyone 🤭)
"I- okay, shut up. So what if I like her? I mean... listen it's not about the hair, man. The key to girls is just acting like you don't care," Steve tried to give advice. I scoffed loudly and they turned their heads back, Steve's eyes as wide as golf balls. I shook my head.
"Don't listen to him Dusty. If you act like you don't care then she's going to think you actually don't care or even like her," I walked beside Dustin.
"Are you sure?" Dustin asked me.
"100% my dude. I mean, I would know. I'm a girl," I said in a 'duh' tone.
"Well whatever you do, just wait until, uh, until you feel it," Steve suggested.
"Feel what?" Dustin asked inquisitively.
"It's like before it's gonna storm, you know? You can't see it, but you can feel it, like this, uh.." Steve trailed off once more.
"Electricity," we said at the same time, and we looked at each other. I blushed and looked away, him doing the same as we kept walking.
"Oh, like in the electromagnetic field when the clouds in the atmosphere—" Steve cut Dustin off.
"No, no, no, no, no. Like a... Like a sexual electricity," he shrugged nonchalantly. Dustin just replied with an 'oh' and I walked in front of them awkwardly as Steve was literally telling a child about sexual feelings. 'He's like, 13. I highly doubt a 13 year old knows about sexual electricity,' I thought cringing.
"You feel that and then you make your move," Steve told him confidently. Then they talked about whether you should kiss her or not and I got lost in my thoughts thinking about when me and Steve kissed. In the field at school. I smiled and looked down hiding my blush with my hair. I heard them talking about types of girls then Dustin asking Steve something.
"So, what type is (Y/N)?" Dustin asked.
"(Y/N), well, she's different. She's different than the other girls. She's special." Steve said and I could feel him staring at me, Dustin must have agreed because he muttered a 'yeah.' (Hehe I'm not like other girls 😳)
"But this girl's pretty special too, too, you know. It's just, like, something about her," Dustin said. 'Oh. My. God. Is he talking about Max? He's totally talking about Max.' I thought.
"Woah, woah, woah. Hey, hey, hey," Steve said and I heard them stop walking so I stopped too and turned around to face them.
"What?" Dustin looked confused.
"You're not falling in love with this girl, are you?" Steve asked.
"Uh, no. No," Dustin reassured Steve.
"Okay, good. Don't," Steve looked at me for a few seconds before looking back at Dustin.
"I won't," Dustin looked confused once again.
"She's only gonna break your heart, and you're way too young for that shit," Steve said, now staring me in the eyes. I looked down, blushed and starting walking again, then I heard them walking, too. Dustin looked like he finally solved the worlds biggest mystery once he put the clues together. Then they started talking about hair products and I suddenly felt upset. 'What the hell did he mean about breaking hearts? I didn't break his heart! If anything he broke mine! We never talked about the kiss and now I'm thinking he doesn't even like me!' I groaned in frustration. I walked faster than them, trying not to break down on the spot wondering if there was something wrong with me. No. There isn't. Well.... maybe there is. We got to this abandoned field thing and I spotted Max and ran over to her engulfing her in a big bear hug.
"I said medium well!" I heard Lucas yell to the guys.
"Holy shit Max! You had me worried sick," I was checking her face for any scratches like an over-protective mom since I hadn't seen her in a while since I was busy with my mom coming back into my life and Steve and all that shit. Max rolled her eyes and swatted my hand away but smiled at my corniness.
"I'm fine, as you can tell," Max reassured me. While Steve was walking around looking at some stuff, Max walked in the other direction and looked at some other stuff, and Dustin and Lucas were talking somewhere. I decided I would talk to Steve and try and figure out why he was acting so weird earlier.
"Hey, Harrington," I greeted him with a small wave.
"Hey, Hargrove," he mocked me in a playful way. I looked at him for a second and then looked down.
"Why were you acting so... weird earlier with Dustin. Like talking about love and attraction and shit?" I asked him looking into his chocolate brown eyes.
He sighed, "Because. I don't know. I guess because things have been kind of awkward since that one might when you left. Oh, and not to mention how we never talked about that kiss and what it meant. If it even meant anything...."
"It did mean something! To me it did. Did it mean anything to you?" I looked at him full of hope, hoping he would say yes.
"Well, of course it did, I just-" Steve started but then I cut him off by kissing him. I think this was our third kiss? I wrapped my arms around his neck and he pulled me closer with his hands on my waist. That was cut off fairly quick, though, because you know, humans need to breathe. I was blushing hard and I could tell he was too.
Before we could say anything to each other Max called me over to the bus she was at. I gave Steve a little peck on the cheek and jogged over to Max.
"So, what's up with you and lover boy over there?" Max wiggled her eyebrows.
"Oh my gosh! Shut up! What about you and Lucas, huh? I see you two hanging out quite a bit," I winked at her. She pushed my shoulder playfully and I pushed hers back and we laughed. (Honestly, sibling goals right there.) The good moment came to an abrupt end with darkness falling and everybody getting ready to fight these weird demon things.

I anxiously waited for something to happen as I played with my necklace. Max was asking Steve if he ever fought the demon thingys before and I looked out the window thinking about what I was going to tell Steve after all this was over. I wanted to tell him how much I really like him and how much I want to be with him, but right now obviously isn't the time. Right now we have to kill these things and save Will from the Mind Flayer. I sat pondering about life for a while before I saw Steve getting out of the bus with his bat. He was going to fight those things. I couldn't let him do it alone, so I grabbed a crowbar and got out of the bus too.
"What the hell are you doing?" He asked me.
"I'm not going to let you get killed, so I'm helping you," I shrugged. He scoffed, rolled his eyes, then went back to calling for those things. One finally came out and we were staring it down, ready to attack when I heard,
"STEVE! (Y/N)! WATCH OUT!" Lucas yelled. I turned around and saw some more of them.
"Shit," I muttered under my breath as one jumped at me and I hit it in the head, injuring it enough to then keep bashing its head. Steve started to hit another one and more started coming. The kids called out to us to come back and we started running back, of course. But along the way I got a scratch from one of them all along my thigh. Once I was in the bus I looked down at my leg, and it was bleeding like hell. The demo-dogs started pounding all over the bus and I started to get dizzy and light-headed from all the blood loss.
"Max?" I whispered and the last thing I saw before I blacked out was all three kids running over to me.
Ahhhhhh!!!! Heyyyyyy I'm back! Finally! I'm so happy to be back and writing again! When would the right time be to confess Steve and the readers love for each other? When everything is over (before season 3 takes place) or in the middle of the whole battle thing? I just don't want this story to be cliché and like every other story out there. I want it to be different. Anyways, more Max and reader bonding time will be happening over the course of the next few chapters, but I'm not 100% sure if there's going to be a lot in the season 3 part of this story because I don't know which group to put the reader with. Like should I go like basic and go with Scoop Troop (which I really wanna do), Griswold Family (I also really want to do that) Bald Eagle (which would be really interesting and a different type of concept) or all 3 and I have you guys go to the specific chapter of which one you want (kind of like a choose your adventure story but with which group you want which would, by the way, all have 3 different endings if I did that.) I don't know what I want to do and I'm really indecisive so yeah this is going to take me a while to figure out and make up my mind with. See you guys in the next chapter!
