After the other night mess of Max, Nikki, and Neil going to Spooky Island David was on his toes. For him today wasn't just another day at camp, it was a chance to prove to a certain group of judges that he was the best camp counselor.
As David was explaining the situation to (y/n), she could only nod her head. She was still tired from the other night. She didn't sleep a wink, she onto stayed awake to talk to Jasper.
David and (Y/n) were currently the only ones awake while drinking coffee. Quartermaster had just left to do his own things and Gwen hasn't woken up yet.
Since the break of dawn, they both built a fun obstacle course for the day. In hopes of impressing the Camp Critic Committee
"Sounds fun," (y/n) said with a nod, "do you have a back up plan if yours doesn't work?"
"Nope!" David yelled, "we won't need it! My plan is fool proof!"

"We're so honored to have you here! Especially after last year!" David cheered out to the camp critic committee.
It was a little bit later in the day, (y/n) wanted to help David to earn this award. In her eyes, he helps around the camp too much, but didn't seem to catch a break. Although she was tired for the amount of work they did on the night
"But a lot has changed since then!" (Y/n) heard David yell out "and I think this year, you will see that I am truly without a doubt, prime candidate for the camp counselor of the year award!"
(Y/n) was currently giving breakfast to the rest of the campers. She noticed space kid filling his helmet with chocolate syrup and quickly took it away. (Y/n) didn't noticed the Camp critic committee writing things down after they saw her.
"Uh David?" Gwen whispered
"Not now!" He whispered back
"Sorry this is our other counslers! She's got nothing to report!" He forced out a smile
Gwen showed (y/n) her phone and her eyes widen.
"Uh David?" (Y/n) tried as well
"Have I mentioned how great our camp is?" David repeated through his teeth
Gwen gave David an angry look as he walked by both of them. (Y/n) looked slightly offended by David's reaction.
'After everything I did' (y/n) thought 'it's just his stress'
David opened the window to reveal the hard work him and (y/n) did in the morning.
"David" both of them tried to get David's attention but was quickly yelled at.
"We were trying to tell you that it was about to rain," Gwen said as she flipped him off
David eyes widen as he looked at the window, before locking eyes with (y/n) who had a angry look on her face. He looked back at the window and placed his hand against it.
"No," he whispered
He looked back at (y/n), which she only raised her eyebrows at him, not giving him one of her famous smiles or any words of comfort.
David began to panic in his mind. Which cause (y/n) to slowly leave his side to go off to help the other campers.
'He can help himself for all I care,' (y/n) thought 'after all the help I gave him! He decided to yell at me?'
(Y/n) noticed Neil attempting to sneak off. She followed him and asked him if he was okay.
"Oh goodness! You scared me!" Neil shouted
"Where are you going Neil?"
Neil looked down in what seemed shame as he explained to (y/n) about his diary and he was going off to the attic.
"Okay Neil," (y/n) then looked down at him, "just be quick, I don't want people worrying about you,"

Well things escalated quickly. In the most of panic everyone thought Neil went missing and Dolf was put in charge. (Y/n) kept trying to tell David and Gwen that Neil wasn't missing but they seemed more focused on their own things.
"Let's search the floor boards!" Dolf shouted. (Y/n) jumped when she saw Preston hitting the floor with a crowbar.
"This has escalated quickly," Max said
Max walked over to (Y/n), she looked down at him and sighed out "you know he's not lost right?"
"Yeah I know, I just wanna find him," Max replied as his eyes wondered around the mess hall, surprised with how everyone was acting.
"I kept trying to tell the other two but they seem to ignore me," (y/n) rolled her eyes as she explained the situation at Max
"He writes in a dairy?" Max smirked
"Yeah, let's go get him already," (y/n) said to Max.
(Y/n) turned around and started to walk. In a attempt to keep up with (Y/n) Max grabbed her hand. (Y/n) started the whole hand holding with Max to keep him in the activities. But it seemed to become a habit for Max when he needs comfort. Not that she minded, all she wanted to do is comfort him. (Y/n) could tell he needed it. (Y/n) hand tighten around Max's as she brought him towards the back where Neil was. Nikki rushed up next to them excited as she began to sniff the air.
"What is it girl? Did you find him?" David asked as he pushed pasted (Y/n) and Max.
Max's glare could burn a hole in his head at the fact that David was basically ingoring (y/n). She worked just as hard if not harder than he did and he didn't even listened to her.
"I think so!" Nikki yelled at David. Her smirk widen as she made eye contact with Max. "Not really, I just wanted a snack!"
"David," (y/n) tiredly said, "please he's not lost, if you just listen to me-"
"He's fine! Everything is fine!"
"DAVID!" (Y/n) huffed in frustration which caught everyone by surprised. In the background the judge's leaned in to see what would would happen.
"David, for the last time, Neil isn't lost! I kept trying to tell you but you keep ingoring me! It's getting frustrating." She huffed before Neil came in from the attic to see the commotion.
"Uh hey guys?"
"Neil! Your not dead!" Nikki yelled in happiness as she rushed over to hug Neil. Max smiled slightly at him as he went over and pushed him slightly.
"You write in a diary?" Max ask him, teasing
"Nerd!" Nikki shouted while pointing at him
"This is why I go to the attic," Neil smiled awkwardly at them
David looked between (Y/n) and Neil, he let out a sigh of relief towards Neil. David turned his attention back towards (Y/n) who had her arms crossed with a look of annoyance written across her face.
"Listen (Y/n),"
"It's fine David," (Y/n) began to walk out of the back room and out the doors in the pouring rain. She ignored the call from Gwen as she continued to walk into the woods in frustration.
"Damn it," (Y/n) mumbled to herself as she walked inside the counselor cabin. Her wet hair and clothes made her feel worse. She walked over to the closest and pulled out her suit case.
She tossed the empty case upwards onto her top bunk where she climbed back up. She opened it to reveal a few papers inside. (Y/n) brushed against a few until she found the letter at the bottom.
She re-opened the letter to reveal the last letter she wrote to her parents. (Y/n) sighed at the fact that she never sent the letter to them. She looked around the empty cabin, her eyes landing on her desk in the corner with papers and her pens.
(Y/n) got down and walked over to the desk. She sat down and pulled out a piece of paper. (Y/n) began to think, before she crumbled up the letter she wrote and tossed it into the trashcan.
"Hey (Y/n)..." David said awkwardly as he entered the cabin.
He saw as she didn't look at his direction when he greeted her. David gulped as he walked closer to her.
"Are you, feeling better?"
"I'm fine," (Y/n) said while looking down at her crumpled up paper that sat inside the trashbin, "did you win?"
"No...you....uh," David rubbed his neck "missed Dolph winning,"
(Y/n) quickly turned around confused "wait but he's not even a counsler?"
"That's what I said," David yelled out with chuckles.
They both silently laughed until the cabin went quiet again.
"You know," David began as he looked over at his wall of memories. His eyes stayed onto a picture of his camp when he was a kid. "You remind me of someone I used to know, she kinda looked like you?"
"Really? That's funny," (Y/n) chuckled out in a dry fashion as she remembers her childhood.
"Yeah, she was flower scout with (Color) hair. She was friends with my old friend named Jasper," David smiled fondly at the memories of the three of them.
(Y/n) eyes widen, piecing the pieces together. That he knows Jasper and that he was friends with her. So that would make David-
"I'm sorry (Y/n)," David began speaking again, cutting her thoughts off, "I shouldn't put my love for this camp over your feelings. I did that once before with a friend and I regretted it since...I want to learn from that mistake."
(Y/n) and David made eye contact. She gave him a weak smile back as she rubbed her hands over the yellow bracelet Jasper gave her.
"It's okay David, I forgive you." (Y/n) sighed out, "sorry for being dramatic,"
"Don't be! It's how you felt!"
"It's just," (Y/n) looked out the window as the rain slowly began to stop. "I remembered something very unsettling the other day and I've been on the edge."
"Do you want to talk about it?" David asked.
"It's a bit complicated to explain," (Y/n) threw the paper envelope into the trashcan along with the paper she just crumpled.
"Well, whatever is bugging you, I'm sure you'll find the answers here at camp,"
(Y/n) smiled up at David, she wasn't going to tell him what she remembered. He didn't seem to piece together that it was her anyways.
She got up from her seat and gave him a hug, she thanked him in a happy tone.
"Um...(Y/n)...your still wet," David told her while not hugging back, keeping his hands floating
"Don't make this weird David,"
