"Omg! You look beautiful, Alyssa!" Aubrey gushed.
I moan. "Can't we just get this over with without you in awestruck?"
She giggles. "Well sorry!"
Today was Friday. School just ended. And I just came home to try on my dress for the dance. It was going to start at 6 till 8. Checking the time on my phone it read, 3:48. Only a few more hours.
"You will look great!" Aubrey exclaimed.
I muster up a smile. "I guess so. And I'm going to be wearing mascara."
"Okay but don't try to hurt, Jacob." She said.
"Hurt him? Why would I do that?"
"Beats me. Just don't do anything stupid."
"Don't worry. I won't."
"Can I please go to the dance with you?"
I shake my head. "No, Aubrey. Now can you go away. I'm going to change and put this dress away till later."
"Whatever." And she disappeared.

As minutes passed by I got even more nervous. My mom was going to drop me off at the school and there I would meet up with, Jacob. To pass the time I watched tv, listened to music and took a shower when I checked my phone again. It read, 5:00.
Right after my shower I immediately went to my closet and took my dress. After putting it on I made my way to the bathroom with a curling iron and makeup.
Glancing at myself in the mirror, I then started curling a little bit of my hair. I observed myself doing it.
When I was finished I started applying on mascara.
Suddenly, Cody appeared.
"Alyssa?" He said.
"Cody? I can explain."
"What's going on?" He calmly asked.
"I'm going to the dance with, Jacob. Hope you don't mind."
He sighs. "Okay." Then he stares deep into my eyes. I only look away.
"Alyssa." He says.
"What's up?" I asked, putting away the makeup back in its place and returning back.
"If I were alive and was living in your time would you go to the dance with me?"
I stop glancing in the mirror and turn to him.
"Well? Would you?" he asked again.
"Yeah." I whispered.
"Would we be dating if I were alive?"
"Yes."
"Would you like me better than Jacob?"
I jerked back. "What?!"
"Well?"
I stayed quiet.
"You're not answering my question." He said.
"I would like both of you the same. Because I love you and because he's my friend." I answered.
He sighs. "Have fun then."
"I'll be missing you." I whispered and planted a light kiss on his cheek.
"I'll be missing you more." He said with a smirk.
"I know you will."
That's when my mom called me.
"I have to go." I said, putting my black flats on and heading towards my bedroom door.
"Wait." Cody called out.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Before you go I just wanted to say that you look beautiful."
I blushed and waved goodbye and was about to close the door when I heard him say,
"I love you, Alyssa."
"I do too." I smiled and closed the door behind me.

On the car trip to the school I got super nervous that I started tapping my foot.
"You'll be fine." My mom said with a reassuring smile.
I nod. "I hope so."
"Just have fun honey. Call me when you need me to pick you up."
"Yeah. I will."
As we drove all I could think of was people judging me. Inside me I was already freaking out.
"Mom." I said.
"What is it honey?"
"I don't think I feel well."
"Do you want go back home?" She asked.
"Maybe."
"What are you going to tell Jacob?"
"I don't know."
"Are you sure you want to go back?"
Then I got a text. I looked and it was from Jacob. It read,
You almost there? Cuz I'm here now.
I sigh. "Mom. I change my mind. I think I will go."
"Positive?"
"Yeah."
"Okay honey."
With a few more minutes to get there I only thought of the dance. Hope I don't make a fool out of myself. It is my first time going with a guy of course.
Little did I know this was a dance I was never going to forget.
