Joe's POV

I don't think I had ever been as worried as I was after the accident; three day's after Sam's hospitalisation, I was still sat on the plastic chairs in the dully painted waiting room and shaking like a leaf.

Kelsey stormed into the waiting room, glaring at me with her piercing, dark eyes. Close on her heels was Jared; he was almost jogging to keep up with her. Our eyes met and he shook his head; the gesture filled with both sympathy and accusation.

After a long silence between the three of us, a doctor walked in. I stood up, opening my mouth to speak and ask how Sam was, but Kelsey beat me to it.

"How is she doing?" She asked in a fragile voice; she sounded like she was about to cry.

"She's fine, her vitals are looking good and she's responding to certain things," the doctor replied in a heavy tone; he looked worse than I felt. He'd obviously had a long night. Jared nodded and pulled Kelsey to his chest and wrapped his arms around her. She did the same and nuzzled into his chest.

"Is she awake?" I heard a far too familiar voice ask. I didn't turn my head; I already knew he'd be staring at me accusingly, his eyes cold and murderous.

The doctor shook his head. "Tomorrow, hopefully." He replied. A nurse popped her head around the door and spoke in a hushed tone to the doctor; I couldn't hear due to the sound of blood pumping in my ears. The doctor nodded and followed her out of the waiting room. Suddenly, I felt vulnerable; all three of the people who were in this room hated me with a burning passion, and I knew at least one of them wouldn't hesitate to voice that.

The silence began once again, but colder and harsher; I could practically taste the hatred in the air. I felt as though I should have just curled up in a ball and died right there on the solid wooden floor, but instead I took my place back on the seats; entwining my fingers and placing them on my lap.

"Why'd you do it, Joe?" Izazya eventually asked, his voice a cold monotone. "Is that the kind of person you are now?"

"She brought it on herself," I replied without thinking. I bit my tongue. "She... She challenged me." I finally managed to say in a fairly steady voice.

"And you felt the need to tackle her and throw her down the stairs?!" Izazya yelled suddenly, his voice resonating in the silence. I flinched slightly at the ferocity of his accusations.

"I wasn't thinking," my voice was barely a whisper. I heard the impact of his fist against a wall, and was instantly glad it was the wall and not my face.

"Izazya, calm down." I heard Kelsey mutter. I was about to agree with her when she finished her sentence. "Or at least take it somewhere else."

I turned my head - finally - to look at him; his eyes were burning with ferocity, anger and hatred.

"Come on, Joe." Izazya snarled, the corners of his mouth turning upwards in some form of a smile. "Let's take this somewhere else."

"No thanks," I replied, my voice stronger than before. Izazya raised an eyebrow and laughed half-heartedly.

"Don't make me come over there and get you, you'll get hurt. I guarantee." He took a warning step towards me.

"Looks like I'm getting hurt then," my eyed locked with his as I uttered the final word; "again."

"Don't you dare start this here, Joseph." Izazya's voice filled with anger as he step towards me. I watched the muscles in his arms tense; I had no doubt he'd drag me from the seat if he had to.

Where had all the confidence that I'd slowly began to build gone? He stepped into the room and it crumbled. I sighed inwardly and stood up - saving myself the pain of being dragged across the floor - and walked towards him. I saw a smile start to form on his otherwise serious face.

"Where exactly are we going?" I asked, huffing in exasperation. Izazya shrugged.

"Starbucks?" he asked casually, heading towards the door. All hints of his previous anger were gone, which was quite worrying. It was extremely confusing how he could change moods in three seconds flat.

"Oh yeah, because Starbucks is the best place in the world to start an argument." I replied sarcastically.

He laughed. "Good point, Joseph. The nearest bar it is then!" he grabbed my arm and grinned, before dragging me from the building.

The nearest bar turned out to be half a mile down the road, which was probably best as it meant I didn't have to spend too much time in a small space with Izazya - I felt vulnerable being in a car with him; who knows what he could do!

We got out of my car and walked to the entrance. Izazya opened the door for me; always being a gentleman that boy was. I would have smiled, but his face was morbidly serious. So, instead I just walked straight in; avoiding as much eye contact as possible. I sat down at a table, but Izazya shook his head at me and pointed to the corner of the bar; a very dimly lit area. I sighed and stood, walking over to the corner. I instantly felt more vulnerable; it was as though he was planning something and the darkness would cover it up. Maybe he'd kill me- oh my god Izazya was a murderer?! I shook my head; of course he wasn't.

Izazya returned a few minutes later, his tall frame vaguely outlined in the dim lighting. I could just about make out the grimace on his face.

"Damn, this is expensive." He nodded to the drinks as he placed them down on the table. "Don't you dare spill that." He added. I grinned.

"I'll pay then." I replied, picking up the drink.

"Oh really?" Izazya asked, a small smirk on his face.

"Yeah, I've got money." I placed the cool glass to my lips and took a sip.

"You drink like a girl," Izazya laughed as he finally sat down. "Do it like this," Izazya took his drink and took two huge gulps; that's all it took before the drink was completely gone. I blinked in astonishment, before picking up my drink again and doing the exact same.

I lost track of time after a while; we ordered round after round of drinks, until my wallet was completely empty.

"Whoa, how much did we drink?" I asked, laughing and throwing my wallet on the table.

"We? You had more than me!" Izazya chuckled, "I'll get us a taxi, yeah?"

"Okay, just give me a second. I need a piss."

"Don't blame you," Izazya slurred with a lopsided grin.

I stumbled to the bathroom and heard Izazya burst into fits of laughter. I don't know whether it was just the alcohol, but I felt like we were okay again.

Izazyas POV

I'd worked hard to get into the position I was now in all night; he was way too drunk to refuse me. I had to admit, this wasn't the best of ideas. But I needed him too bad to give up on such a chance; plus I'd get him back for what he did to Sam. I shook my head, clearing the alcohol-induced haze which was fogging up my thoughts. I wasn't going to let this boy out of my site for a while. He'd hate it - so would I - but it'd hopefully drive him insane. Maybe then he'd get a glimpse of how I'd felt for so long.

I stood up from my seat, steadying myself via the table, before walking towards the bathroom. It was brightly lit and it hurt my eyes as I stepped in and I could hear Joe complaining under his breath. I grinned and closed the door silently, stepping towards the light switch; this would be so much easier in the dark. I smirked and watched Joe stumble drunkenly towards the sinks and allowed him to turn the water on. A few seconds later, I pressed my finger on the switch and the room was plunged into darkness.

I heard Joe gasp and stumble back, falling against a wall. "Fuck," he muttered, sliding a little further down the wall. I had to stiffle a laugh; he was so vulnerable. I stepped forwards, listening as my footsteps echoed in the darkness.

"H-hello?" Joe stuttered. His voice shook slightly and at this point he resembled a lost puppy; completely helpless. I stepped closer and closer until I was directly in front of him.

"Hey, Joseph." I whispered in reply, placing my hand on his waist. I heard him breathe in sharply, and then he relaxed.

"Yo', Izzy." He giggled and I couldn't help but smirk.

"Did you seriously just call me Izzy?" I asked with a laugh. "This is meant to be scary, the name Izzy isn't scary!"

"Oh no, a wild Izzy appeared!" Joe exclaimed. "You'd be a great pokémon!"

I grinned; he'd just given me what I'd wanted. "The wild Izzy used 'handcuff'!" with that I pulled the pair of handcuffs I had managed to get hold of - don't ask where from, it's a long story - from the back pocket of my jeans and placed one around Joe's wrist. I locked it securely and proceeded to lock the other onto my wrist.

Joe looked at the handcuffs, and then at me. "What the fuck, Izzy!" he yelled. I have no doubt that he would have continued, had I not kissed him. It had been far too long since I'd had him against me like this; I'd forgotten what contentment felt like.

Surprisingly, Joe responded within seconds. His struggles stopped and he gave in completely; he wrapped his free arm around my neck, his fingers caressing up into my hair. I pressed my body against his, pinning him securely to the wall whilst supporting myself with my free hand by placing it against the wall.

I would have maybe gone a little further...

... Had I not blacked out.
