The Next Week
'Hey Y/N, feel like ive not spoke to you in ages,'
'Because we haven't spoke since the BBQ at yours,' You put the phone on speaker so you could tie up your air-force ones.
'Oh, right, sorry, ive been busy with er-' He stuttered,
'Sophie?' you laughed down the phone,
'Ha, yeah,'
'Alright, Tom, Harrison just pulled up, i have to go, see you at the shopping centre!'
'Wait, why is Harry picking you up?' Tom asks almost angrily,
'Why not?' you say, confused by his tone of voice.
'YES, SOPHIE, DEAR, IM COMINGGG! Ok, I have to go by-' He shouted to someone behind him who you couldnt hear on the phone. You ended the call, you didnt want to hear him talk to Sophie- you couldn't stand it.
You adjusted your mini skater skirt and pulled down your cropped Y/F/C jumper. You walk out the door with you backpack half on your shoulder. Harrison gives you a friendly wave and he smiles warmly.
You get into his little silver car and sigh,
'Ello, H'
'Ello, Y/N/N' He hands you an iced lemon tea, you smile and laugh, it's your favourite drink!
'Aw, thanks man,' You take a sip and then hand him a piece of gum.
20 minutes later
'Hey Guys!' You say as cheerily as possible,you had just arrived at the entrance to the shops, you gave Tom a big hug and then lightly hugged Sophie.
'Hey bitch!' She giggles and winks at you, you giggle and wink back, once again, mocking her.
We decided to go to New Look first. Haz and Sophie walked in-front as Harrison wanted to know about where she lived in America, that left you and Tom together, although you had known since forever, the way you felt when you were with him was constantly changing.
'Heyyyy,' He puts his arm round you for a second,
'Heyo.' You jump and look at him, he looked right back at you, you felt your cheeks flush completely red and you turned away quickly.
'You good?' He asks trying to turn you around,
'Yes! Just an eyelash stuck in my eyeball,' You laugh awkwardly.
'Lovelyyy,' He shakes his head and then does a ridiculous impression of you, you both fall into uncontrollable laughter and Sophie turns her head sharply, shoots you a bittersweet smile and gives Tom a little head tilt as if to say
'WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!'
Later, at New Look, a short and sheer dress is up on the mannequin, its probably the most slutty dress around. You make a joke and say,
'Sophie, this is just your style!' You were smiling and you even said it in a joking manner with finger guns and all, you figured that she HAD to get your joke, but, Sophie STILL did not catch on to the fact that it was a joke.
'Y/N, that is SO not funny!' She screeches in your ear, Tom and Harrison are holding in chuckles. She struts over to her laughing boyfriend and yanks him by the t shirt, this shuts him up, she whispers sharply while you and Harrison walk off upstairs to watch from a distance.
'Tom, im getting fed up of her jokes and you doing nothing about it!' She folds her arms and pouts, Tom reaches out to stroke her arm but she slaps his hand away and puts her finger onto his chest,
'Listen, you are going to have to pick between me and her,'
'Oh, but I cant...' He sighs and rubs the back of his head, you and Harrison are watching the awkward and heated exchange wondering whats going on,
'You choose HER over ME!?' she steps back and licks her lips,
'n-nnoo... that's n-not what im s..s-saying!' Tom stutters, then his voice cracks, 'How can i choose between my best friend and my girlfriend!'
'It shouldn't have been a hard choice honey,' She touches his chest and then turns, looks up at the balcony that was atop of the stairs where you and H were stood. She huffed at you both and then strutted off.
Tom threw his head back and covered his face, you and Harrison rushed down to him, a tear was running down his face. You went in to hug him but he just looked at you,
'Y/N, she made me choose.' He whispered,
'Choose what? A new tshirt?' You chuckle at yourself,
'Shut up please, your jokes are what got me here.' you furrowed your eyebrows and looked at your feet,
'Bro, seriously, Y/N didnt mean any harm by it!' Harrison stepped slightly in front of you,
'I know i know im sorry, she made me choose between y/n and her, i couldnt do that, so i didn't.' He smiled weakly at you,
'Its her loss, no sane caring person makes you choose between two people, and you're like.. the sweetest person so why would she even attempt to make you choose,' You say trying to cheer him up. You felt horrible for being like this, but, you were almost happy they broke up.
'Thanks,' He laughs shyly,
'Cmon, dude lets go get McDonald's or stuff our faces with some overpriced ice cream,' Harrison puts his arm round Tom and hugs him close,
'Yeh, lets forget that spoiled bitch,' You say trying to lighten the mood,
'What the hell, Y/N? You think that about her?' Tom looks hurt and shocked, your heart sinks, why did you have to ruin everything,
'Um.. Imma go wait in the car. In a bit lads,' Harrison quickly walked away not daring to look back.
'No, i dont think that, not really anyway,' You shrug your shoulders and twiddle your thumbs,
'What do you mean, not really? Do you ever think that your 'jokes' might hurt people who haven't known you your whole life, like Sophie hasn't? No bet you dont, you upset my girlfriend, oh wait, ex-girlfriend, and you just insulted her behind her back, i remember a time when your jokes made me laugh, Y/N.' Little bubbles of tears were forming in his wide and sad eyes, you ached all over, he didnt shout he just whisper talked sadly, this was torture.
'Oh god, Tom, im so sorry, i dont want to upset you, we never argue, please, im sorry,' Grey mascara filled tears were just itching to stream down your face and embarrass you.
'Ugh, its ok, i guess,' he replied slowly as you pulled him into a tight hug, he was hesitant but then put his arms around you, it didnt feel the same, it felt like he didnt want to hug you.
'I love you, tom, I never want to argue again,'
'same,' he didnt sound nearly as cheerful or as lively as before, you were worried you broke him, he always said i love you back to you and Harrison and this time he just said "same"
He looked into your eyes, you were in love with him, he was adorable and it pained you to see him upset, it saddened you that you weren't more than friends.
'Harrison is waiting for you, ill see you later,' he waved small and then walked off in the opposite direction to you. What had you done to this friendship which you held so dear?
Tom's car
'Hey, Sophie,' Tom spoke into his phone,
'Oh, hey,' she answered, the signal a little crackly.
'I got my answer,'
'Oh, you chose her?' She muttered,
'No, I chose You.'
Tom and Sophie were now out behind your back. you just didnt know it. She wants to take away everyone you love one by one.
