My legs were burning, my heart was pumping so fast and my breathing was getting heavier by the second. I was too afraid to stop, I couldn't stop.
The second I stepped outside the apartment complex I spotted two people hunched over something. As I walked closer to them to investigate, I soon realized that something was another human. They were eating him. I turned around so fast and that's when there buddies started coming out from every corner of that street. I spotted an opening and took it, and now here I am running through the streets of Raccoon City. The police station is my last hope, food and medical supplies are promised to be there but I'm having my doubts.I spot an alleyway on my right and head down it stopping at the bottom of the stairs. If I'm right the second set of stairs should take me up to the police station.
Does this whole mess have something to do with those families up in the Arkalay mountains? No, it can't be. The chief would've mentioned it to my parents. God I hope they're all okay. They were still at work when the evacuations started.
I was hunched over trying to slow my breathing down but I just couldn't. I heard footsteps starting to descend the stairs and pulled out my dad's handgun.
As soon as I did a flashlight was pointed directly at my eyes, and I use my hands to shield them. So much for protecting yourself Valentina.
"Get down!" I hear a male voice say, I follow his command and here a gunshot go off. I turn around and see one of those things on the ground. I look back up towards the stranger and see he's already offering me his hand. I take it and he pulls me up.
"You alright?" He asked
"Yeah, I mean if you don't count being chased by cannibal freaks, then I say I'm doing pretty alright." I say smiling. This isn't the time for sarcasm but the man chuckles at it. He was young and handsome.
"You should really learn how to use that gun if you're gonna be carrying it around. Especially with everything that's going on right now." He says
"I know. My dad never got around to taking me shooting." I say. Please be okay papa. The man takes notice of the change in my demeanor and changes the subject.
"Leon Kennedy."
"Valentina Moreno."
"Come on we should probably find the police station." He says.
"Yeah, it's just up these steps." I say and we begin to make our way to the station.
The entrance is blocked off by many vehicles and zombies. Leon takes out a couple and we begin to head towards the gate. Zombies keep popping up everywhere but we keep running until we make it through the gate. I help Leon shut the door and he locks it.
We make our way inside the police station, it was quiet. Way too quiet in here and there was no signs of life. Medical areas were set up around the main hall but there was no one near them.
"What the hell is going on?" I say
"I don't know. A week ago I got a call from the station to stay away from the city, if I would've know what was going on I would've came sooner." Leon says.
"You're a cop?" I ask
"Yeah I guess you could say today's my first day."
"So why did they tell you not to come? Did they know this was going to happen?"
"I don't know"
"Or were you getting fired before you even started?"I ask trying to lift up the mood a little.
"Very funny." He says. Okay he's being serious right now.
"So are you from the area?" He asks
"Yeah, born and raised. Where are you from?
"Columbia"
"So not that far from here. What made you come here?"
"I had heard about the murders going on in the mountains and it sparked my interest. Wasn't far and the drive home would be easier."
"Understandable. There was an evacuation for my family's apartment building but no one ever showed. My parent's were at work, but they weren't answering any of my calls. My best next thing was to head here in hopes of finding them."
"Found me instead." He says.
"Well you found me and saved my life. I think that kind of makes you my knight in shining armor." I close my eyes. Did I really just say that? He's laughing but I'm dying from embarrassment.
He walks around the desk towards the computer. I look around the area finding some medical supplies and toss them in my bag.
"Marvin!? David?! You there?" I head back towards Leon and see another police officer on camera. He biting shooting a few of those monster. Shit they're in here too.
"Send reinforcements! East Hallway!"
"Leon, we have to help him."
"Yeah, the map says the east hallway is behind that shutter."
We walk back up the steps towards the shutter, Leon pulls the lever but it opens slightly.
"Valentina, why don't you stay here? See if anyone shows up?"
"I'm not just gonna let you go in there by yourself."
"I'll be okay. It shouldn't take that long, I'll help him and we'll head back here. Then we can plan out our next move."
"Are you sure, Leon? I would really feel better if I went with you."
"I'm sure. "
"Okay, just be careful. Yell if you need help though."
"I will."
Leon lowers himself down and crawls underneath the shutter. I on the other hand begin walking around the hall looking for anymore supplies. I make my way towards the statue that has three open circular spaces. I hear a slight moan coming from the other shutter that was close.
"Is anyone there?" I yell out
I walk towards it and hear a little girl screaming.
"Hang on! I'm coming!"
I walk back over to the desk to look for something that will cut through the tape on electrical box. I find a letter opener and head back towards the box. It glides through the tape easily and I pull the lever.
"I'll be right back, Leon."
I walk into the reception area and head towards the back where the hallway is. I open the door and I'm surrounded in darkness. The moonlight is giving off a flash of light but the clouds begin to cover it leaving me unaware of my surroundings. At the end of the hallway I see a beam of light on the floor. I walk quickly towards it picking up the flashlight, I look up seeing the body of a dead officer. His radio is going off but I'm distracted by the horrific gash on his face. His cheek was completely cut through, and his jaw was practically falling off. I step back quickly ready to run back to the hall, but small footsteps catch my attention. They sound like they're coming from the end of the hallway.
"Hello?!" I yell. Nothing again. I head in that direction.
The hallway is painted in blood. Every part of me wants to turn back and wait for Leon, but I can't leave that little girl by herself unprotected. I continue walking and here glass shatter behind me. One of those things are getting in. I start running and run towards a room with double doors. I shut it behind me and begin to look around. I see a flash of white run by, I walk over to it and see a small girl with blonde hair.
"It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you."
She's hesitant but slowly peeks her head out.
"Hey, what's your name?" I say trying to get her to trust me a little more.
"Sherry."
"That's a pretty name. I'm Valentina. What are you doing here?"
"I'm looking for my mom."
"Is she a police officer?" She shakes her head
"No she works for Umbrella."
"Really? My parents do too, we have something in common. What are their names?"
"Annette."
"Oh I think I've met her once, and your dad. William, I think? They had a small meeting with my parent's at our house. Very nice people."
"Yeah."
"So what is your mom doing at the station?"
"She told me to meet her here. Her and my dad's lab is below the station."
"What?"
"Will you help me find the entrance?"
"Are you sure your mom said it was here?"
"Yeah that's what she said when I talked to her on the phone."
"Okay, lead the way." I hope Leon's okay and he's not worried or anything. I should've left him a note just so he knew I was okay.
Sherry and I head towards the back of the room to a door but it's chained off. I look around and see an open window that we could climb through.
"Come on Sherry, let's take a little detour."
Author's Note: I actually don't know where Leon is from, I picked Columbia, Missouri because it is theorized that Raccoon City is actually Springfield, Missouri. So complete speculation not factual. Please don't sue me Capcom XD. -E
