You tell me not to cry. Not to let myself look weak. I try so hard.
But I can't miss the disappointment and disgust in your eyes whenever you look at me. Everytime you open your mouth, your hurtful words cut right through my heart. And I can't help the tears that fall through my eyes.
I have spent sleepless nights, my pillow soaking wet, replaying your words in my mind. My hand clutching my mouth, trying not to make any noise as my body rocks back and forth. The muffled sobs and shaky breathing resound throughout my bedroom.
My heart breaks everytime I think about how I could never be nothing more than a failure in your eyes. Yet, for me, you are my everything.
That's why I try to be the perfect child. But I will always be weak. No matter how hard I try to be numb to the pain, I won't be able to. The tears will always find their way down my cheeks.
