Michael - It was time for your annual check up at the doctors office. It was a rainy day, which was unusual weather for where you lived with your boyfriend Michael. As you sat in the examination room on the bed, the doctor went over the routine stuff to make sure you were healthy. Checking your heartbeat, height and weight. It was just like any doctors visit. Before he left the room to go visit another patient, you stopped him, a question you were planning on getting his advice about. “I was thinking about getting on birth control. Michael and I aren’t planning on kids yet but we want some in the future, so is there a type of birth control that can sterilize me for now, but still be fertile for when i’m ready?” The doctor instantly went sullen and looked up at you with sad eyes. You cocked your head at him, not understanding why he was looking at you so pitifully. “Miss Y/N, i’m sorry to say but birth control won’t be needed. You have a specific disorder called Endometriosis , which means that the lining of the uterine cavity is in the abdominal cavity. You have a very unlikely chance of getting pregnant, dear.” The news took everything out of you. Your heart was racing and you could feel the pain in your chest from the devastating reason. Your palms were sweating and you could feel the tears brimming your waterline. “Oh wow. Thank you doctor, I-um have to go tell Mike the news.” You hastily grabbed your coat and purse and rushed out of the office, trying to conceal the escaping tears from the crowd in the waiting room. You arrived back home, sighing as you spotted Michael on the couch. “Hi love, how was the doctors?”
Luke - “Everything’s going to be alright sweetheart..” Luke whispered in your ear, rubbing his thumb across your knuckles. The two of you had been trying for months to get pregnant and nothing has been working. It’s starting to scare you, so Luke decided that a doctors visit could clear up the confusion. After a couple sweet words and a few temple kisses from your husband, the doctor came in and took a seat across from where you two were sitting. He shuffled his papers over his desk and clasped his hands overtop of them, looking you both in the eyes with a somber expression. And you knew his expression held some bad news behind it. “Mrs. Hemmings, we ran some tests and the results are not great, ma’am.” He started leaning forward towards you and giving you a pitiful smile. Your breath was caught in your throat and you instantly paled. Looking over to Luke, his expression was confused and he so desperately wanted the doctor to elaborate. “I’m sorry, but your eggs aren’t fertile. I understand that this is hard to take in, but your ovaries have been this way since birth.” Luke tensed beside you and gripped your hand tighter than humanely possible. “There has to be some way we can get pregnant, right?” Luke asked, hope laced in his words. “Only a miracle could get the two of you pregnant, Mr. Hemmings.”
Ashton - “Y/N?” The nurse called out, summoning you and Ashton towards the doorway. It was another visit to the doctors, regarding the birth control you were about to be put on. She led you down a hallway, your hand tightly laced in Ashton’s as she led you into an examination room, where Ashton saw a penis diagram and started giggling, causing you to lightly smack his arm and laugh along to his immaturity. The doctor walked in shortly after Ashton was discussing how weird the inside of an ear looked on the poster, and didn’t have a happy look on his face. You were immediately confused, as was Ashton. “I don’t recommend getting on birth control with your body type, Y/N.” You looked over at Ashton who just shrugged his shoulders, before turning back to the bald headed man adorning a white lab coat. “Your cervix is smaller than normal, which causes a slightly higher chance of miscarriages and fertility issues. Putting you on birth control and messing with your hormones wouldn’t do your body any good.” “What are you trying to say?” Ashton spoke up from beside you, stroking your arm in a calming manner. Your heart was racing and you already knew what he was trying to say, but you didn’t want to hear the actual words come out of his mouth. “Y/N is not infertile, but she can not carry a child to term.”
Calum - Calum led you in the consultation room where your doctor wanted to meet with the two of you urgently. You both had been trying to get pregnant for a while now, but nothing had been working. You’d been following your ovulation calender, not using condoms, anything that helped increase fertility but nothing was working. Calum contacted your doctor a week ago and was desperate to have some tests be done to see what was the issue. Calum kissed your cheek and wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you into him, “Everything is going to be alright, babe.” You sighed just as the doctor was in, her glasses perched on her nose and gray hair tied back into a neat bun. “Hello Mr & Mrs. Hood, how are you doing tonight?” She spoke in a soft voice, placing her folders and paperwork down on the table in front of you two. “We’re great, thank you,” Calum replied politely, “Is there a reason you called us in on such short notice?” She nodded, “Yes, there is.” She breathed out heavily, taking a folder from the stack and opening it up, looking at the documents inside and preparing to give us the news. “You both came in for fertility testing the other week, correct?” You both nodded, looking at each other then back at the doctor. “We found the issue you guys have been dealing with the past couple months-” “Great, what do we have to do then?” Calum interrupted her, excited to find out the way you two can finally conceive a child. The doctor shook her head, “Calum, here, has immobile sperm. This means that the sperm can’t swim and implant themselves in the egg.” Your jaw dropped and you sat up instantly, “What are you trying to say?” “The chances of you two conceiving with Calum’s sperm is highly unlikely, almost impossible.”
