Rosé couldn't complain about her job.
She worked on a café to help her mom because the 41 year old woman had basically given up on everything she loved just to help her daughter pay college. She was working at an airport during the day and a barista during the night. And even that wasn't enough.
So Rosé started working as well.
She studied in the morning and worked at night, but all of this to be in her dream college. She really couldn't complain:
- I'm going home Rosé - her boss said - You're coming?
- Oh no, I still have to mop the floor, sir
- Well okay. Don't forget to lock the door then
- Okay - the manager left and Rosé went to get the mop
While cleaning, the blonde started to hum a song that she created on her guitar. Her goal was to write a song about sacrifices that people had to make to achieve their happiness.
Even if the song was hers, the blonde got a little upset every time she thought about it, because it remembered her about the sacrifices she had to make in comparison to her colleagues.
Every single one of her classmates entered that school due to their parents and their respective wealthiness, while Rosé was one of the only 20 students who entered because of their talent. The rest were all spoiled brats, which shocked Rosé at first since she associated a musical dream and career to honest and hard working people.
At least she had Jisoo and Matthew.
Matthew worked on the same airport as her mom and Jisoo was very wealthy but wasn't neither spoiled nor a brat.
And of course there was Lisa, Chaeyoung's best friend since childhood.
That typical beastfriend that stayed with you forever and wouldn't let go. Unfortunately, the only classes they had together was English and PE.
Well, there was her sister too. Alice lived with the Park's, but moved back Australia to find a better job since she couldn't find any in Auckland. But she would sent some money to her family and that helped a lot actually.
Her mom and her dad were a beautiful in love couple with one daughter (Alice), but unfortunately, her dad received a really good job offer in Australia which lead to their break up. Little did they know that in their.. Night activitie before her dad left, he accidentally got her mom pregnant.
Rosé was born in New Zealand, but moved to Australia because her mom and dad got back together. Things didn't go quite well, so she and her mom went back to Auckland. Alice went with them, but since she couldn't find a job, she moved back to Sydney to work in their father's company.
Complicated right.
Now, a little more about The University of Auckland - Bachelor of Music (Chaeyoung's course, Bachelor of Technology was Matthew's course, Bachelor of Law's was Jisoo's course and Bachelor of Dance Studies was Lisa's course).
Chaeyoung loved the university of Auckland but, unfortunately, she couldn't say the same about her classmates.
She tried to talk to some students in the first days, but no one wanted to be her friend since she wasn't wealthy.
After that, she would eat alone in the cafeteria since Lisa was still in Thailand and would only go back to NZ one month after.
One day, a Korean black haired girl and a green eyed blonde guy squeezed in her table and started talking to her like they knew her since forever. And that was how their friendship started.
Normally the girls or boys who tried to reach Chaeyoung was just because she was good looking, but backed away immediately in the moment they realized her clothes weren't from Armani or Gucci. It's not like she would talk to them anyway, she wasn't ashamed of who she was:
- Finally - she storage the mop and changed to her normal outfit. Her phone started buzzing
- Hi mom
- Hey Sweetie! Have you finished working?
- Yeah, I just finished changing and I'll go to the bus stop
- You better hurry up then! It's already 11.20pm!
- OMG! - she screamed and ran towards the door. She closed the Café - I have to go now mom, I'll talk to you later!
Her mom didn't even have a chance to say her goodbyes since Rosé shoved the device in her pocket and started running.
After 10 minutes of helplessly running, Rosé arrived at the bus station and saw the bus already leaving, far away:
- No, wait! - she waved and jumped in a stupid attempt to make the bus stop - Fuck!
She ran her hands through her blonde locks and sighed.
Suddenly, someone sneezed and she froze. The tall girl looked at the bench of the bus stop and saw a brunette girl covered with tons of jackets. She had sun glasses on, which made Rosé back away a little.
(let's imagine she has sunglasses on and doesn't have bangs).
'What kind of person uses sun glasses when it's pitch black?' - she thought
Chaeyoung stood there, not knowing what to do:
- You can sit, I don't bite - a soft and hoarsy voice interrupted her thoughts. She turned red of embarrasse and sat beside the girl.
' Who am I to judge her? If I keep my distance just because she's different I won't be any different from my colleagues. Plus, her voice is appealing and she has cute cheeks.'
- Bless you - Rosie said trying to be nice
The girl looked at her and chuckled:
- Too late for that
The blonde started playing with her bracelet. It was one of those clichés bracelets that had' dream' plastered on it but for her, it meant everything because it was her mom who gave it to her.
Silence.

The brunette coughed and said:
- It's late. Aren't you like 16? Shouldn't you be home by now?
Rosé found the question rude and her emotions went up-high:
- I'm waiting for the next bus to go home. And for your information, I'm 17 - she said in an annoyed tone - Aren't you the same age as me?

- No one is coming - the blonde looked confused at the tiny person - I mean, the next bus only comes at 6am so...
Chaeyoung wanted to die from embarrassment. She completely forgot that was the last bus:
- If you knew, then, why are you here? - she asked, mostly because it was freezing and no one wanted to be here if it wasn't to catch the bus
- I had to clear my mind and it's not like someone is waiting for me at home anyway - she chuckled - Plus, the driver thought I was weird so he didn't let me in
Rosé felt guilty for judging the girl and immediately felt compassion. She wanted to hug the cute girl, but she didn't even know her name:
- It's best if you don't come closer... Uh... Because I'm... I'm sick
The blonde got up and hugged her body:
- Well, I have to go home so.. Uh.. Get better soon
She was about to leave but something stopped her. She looked at the cute girl shoved in jackets and sighed:
- Wanna clear your mind while walking beside me?
The brunnete looked at her and Rosé swore she could see a differente eye color examining her but maybe it was just the reflex of the sun glasses:
- You want to walk with me? Don't you think I'm strange or... Unusual?
- I actually think you look cute in those jockets. And I have pepper spray in my pocket so I'll take my chances - the blonde genuinely smiled
The girl got up and Yup, she was small but not that small to the point that Rosé had to look down:
- Don't judge my size - she said trying to speak in a threatening tone
- I'm sorry, but I did think that you were smaller
The girl looked at the other girl and gave her a little smile.

Rosé should be running home right now, but she kept walking beside the cute and mysterious girl. It was nice and different from what she was used to. As she already refered, her colleagues were spoiled brats and had that literally written on their foreheads everytime they spoke (excluding Lisa, Jisoo and Matt), so having someone that she couldn't decifer was a little bit scary but fun:
- I'm 18 - the brunnete said and received a confused look - You told me I was the same age as you, but I'm 18.. One year difference
The blonde stared at her and felt the mysterious vibes circling them. The girl had definitely something different.
She sneezed again and a huge amount of wind came out of nowhere, making Rosé shiver:
- OH! Your sneeze is really powerful - she joked
- Oh I know..
You know that feeling where you don't know what to feel? Yeah it's confusing but that was WHAT Rosé was feeling.
She found the girl cute and mysterious so she wanted to talk in order to find out more about her but, at the same time, she thought she was strong and depressive and that gave a dangerous feeling to Rosé.
Should she lie and say that her house was just down the block and could walk alone? Or should she indeed go home and let the girl know where she lived? She didn't even know her name!
- You're sweating - the tiny person said - Are you nervous?
- No - she replied and felt the cold breeze of November colliding with her words - It's just, I don't know anything about you
- I don't know anything about you either - she shrugged - It's not like it matters, we won't see each other again
- It matters to me. You seem nice and you're walking me home, so why not take advantage of that to get to know each other and maybe create a friendship? - Chaeyoung said confident and the tiny girl stopped walking. The blonde stopped walking as well and looked at her
- Let's to this way then. If I see you again I'll tell you things about me and you'll do the same. Okay? - She gave a true beautiful gummy smile
- Okay
The brunette started walking in a different direction from the blonde but before she completely dissappear, the tiny girl spoke:
- Why?
- Why what?
- Why is it so important for you? I'm nobody
- How are you so sure? - the blonde asked and looked at the starred sky - You seem like somebody. For me, you seem mysterious and different from the usual. But the usual is boring anyway. I look forward to meet you again, tiny person. I'm Chaeyoung by the way but you can call me Rosé
The girl sighed:
- I'm.. I'm Jennie - she turned around the block but Rosé still heard her speak as the wind tickled her ear - See you around Rosé
Chaeyoung smiled for herself and went home.

When she arrived, all the lights were turned off besides the kitchen light. She went towards there and picked up a small note which was on top of some food.
'Here you have some leftovers from work. Eat it, take a bath and go to sleep since tomorrow you have school. I promise I'll do my best to buy you a car so you don't have to be so dependent on the bus. I'm sorry swerrie. Mom loves you a lot ❤️'
Tears fell on the letter but the young woman quickly whipped them away. She didn't like feeling sorry neither for her nor for her mom.
We're strong and we're together.. Cheer up Rosé, tomorrow's another day - she thought and grabbed a fork to eat the leftovers

After eating, she went to the bathroom and turned on the water. When she took off her clothes, a chill ran over her spine and a certain girl popped on her mind. She entered the shower and the hot water warmed her body.
'Who is she? She's so mysterious and seems like she has a lot of secrets...'

After a quick shower, Chaeyoung put on her avocado pijamas (her sister gave it to her on her 16th birthday, mocking with her young sister since everybody knew that she hated avocados) and snuggled on her bed.
Her mind was still reviving the meeting with the unusual girl.
