People need to take moments
To enjoy the little things
In life
More often.
Like the way the sun shines
On a flower
Making the petals seemingly glow.
Or the lingering buzz of jazz
Or an electric guitar
Running deep into your bones.
Like the warmth on your skin
When the sun hits you
As you walk out of a cold room.
Even the split second
When your head hits the pillow
At the end of the day.
When you have a routine,
A small detail of your life
That for awhile, happens everyday.
Like buying lunch
For both you and your friend.
The way the two of you
Split up the meal
To fit the desires of one another.
Or the habit of buying an extra coffee
For the person
Who meets you at the table
Minutes after you order.
The little moments are what matter.
Because they don't last forever.
