Chapter 10

Jason’s POV

I was on my way back to the pack house when I smelled rouge. But it was somewhat different to the normal smells of rouge. Charging onto the road ahead of it, I watched as a bike came racing towards me. I was surprised to see a girl driving it. I thought she was going to hit me, but she slammed on her breaks and went flying. I could see the shock on her face, but I could also see that her eyes were red and swollen.

She’d been crying. For some reason, the thought of her crying made my wolf, Tanner, mad. I watched as she flew into a tree. Rushing towards her, I kneeled beside her. Brushing my hand across her cheek, I jerked it back when I felt the jolt of electricity hit my fingers. I let a breath out when I saw that she was still breathing. Linking with the alpha and doc, I picked her up and starting running for the house. I asked the alpha to send someone back for her bike.

I kicked the door open. As I ran through the house, several of the members let out a growl, but stopped when I glared at them. They lowered their heads and apologized softly. Stepping into the makeshift hospital, I laid her on the bed and stepped back so Dr. Keith could check her out. James, my alpha and also my best friend, stepped up behind me. “Where did you find her?”

“She was driving a cycle. I stepped out in front of her. I swear James that I only did that so she would stop. I didn’t mean for her to get hurt. The roads were just too wet. She lost control of her bike and she went flying. She hit a tree pretty hard.” I take a deep breath, not taking my eyes off of her face.

“You’re not going to believe this James, but when I touched her, I felt sparks. Her scent’s driving both Tanner and I crazy. How can this be? I lost my mate two years ago. I thought we didn’t get another mate.”

“I’ll have to ask the council about this. But I’d say based on what you told me Jace that the girl is your mate. All I ask is that you don’t do anything foolish until I’ve spoken with them.”  He says quietly and I nod. Keith gets my attention and I step forward. “What is it doc?”

“That girl is lucky to be alive. Her shoulder was dislocated, six ribs were broken and one of them was almost in her lung. She wasn’t wearing a helmet was she?”

“I didn’t see one on her or around the bike.”

“She’ll be unconscious for a while. But what she needs right now is rest and lots of it.” I nod at him and he leaves. I sit beside her bed and hold her hand. I take in everything about her face. She is breathtaking. She’ll make it won’t she Tanner?

I believe she will make it Jason. I can feel her wolf and she’s strong. She’ll be alright.  I nod and sit back. Never in my life had I heard of a wolf getting another mate. I smile when I look at her. If it was true though and she was my mate, there was no way I’d let her go.

Tyler’s POV

I open my eyes as I feel a soft breeze play with my hair. Looking around, I’m surprised to see that I’m in the little clearing behind my house. Hearing voices coming from near the willow, I walk through the curtain. There sat my brother and a blonde haired girl. I clear my throat and they both turn around.

When Sam sees me, he jumps to his feet and rushes towards me pulling me into a bear hug. “Tyler, what are you doing here?” He asks me confusion thick in his voice. “I don’t know bro. The last thing I remember was that I was riding The Beast, something jumped in front of me and I was flying through the air.” His face lights up at the mention of his beloved bike.

            “Dad let you keep her?”

“Yeah, but only after I threatened not to talk to him at all.” Sam laughs. The girl steps towards us and smiles at Sam. “Oh, sis, let me introduce you to the moon goddess.” I smile but blush. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Tyler. Your brother has told me so much about you.” My face grows redder and I heard her laugh.

“Am I dead?” I ask as it suddenly dawns on me. “No dear. But I did need to talk to you. So after your wreck, I managed to pull you into a dream.”

“What did you need to talk to me about?”

“About your second mate.” My eyes widen and so does Sam’s. A growl slips from his lips. “Did that boy reject you sis?” His eyes were glowing. I hang my head, not looking at him. “He was…with another girl the last time I saw him. He didn’t really say he rejected me, but his actions did, right?”

The moon goddess steps towards me again. “The second Dustin chose that pack whore; I knew that you deserved a second chance at a mate. Someone who wouldn’t ever do that to you. So I got to looking and I found Jason. He lost his first mate to rouges only months after they met. When you wake up, you’ll forget everything about Dustin. It’ll be like y’all never met. Jason already loves you Tyler. Give him a chance. It’s not every day you find out that you have two mates. You won’t remember our conversation.” She turns around. Sam hugs me again and follows her. Within seconds, everything’s black again.

My eyes flutter open and I look around. The room was a light cream color. I look at my arm to see an IV sticking out of it. I groan and hear someone stirring. Looking to my left, I see a man asleep in a chair. Even from my angle it doesn’t look at all comfortable. As I look at him, I feel Talee pacing around. What’s wrong?

He’s our mate. I can feel it.

Wait, didn’t we find out mate already? My memories are blurry and distant. But I can’t remember if Talee and I ever found our mate or not. No we haven’t. His name’s Jason and his wolf’s name is Tanner. Tanner’s sweet.

Someone’s got a crush, huh? I ask her laughing. She huffs at me and drops the link, most likely to talk with Tanner. I sit up in the bed, watching Jason. Hearing a knock on the door, I turn my head around in time to see a black haired man walk in. He smiles when he sees me awake. “Well now, will you look at this? Young lady you sure did have us guessing whether or not you’d make it. But I’m awful glad you pulled through.”

I tilt my head sideways. “You were in a wreck and you were banged up pretty bad.”

“Is my bike okay?” I manage to get out. It took Sam and me forever to find the parts for The Beast. She was a part of him that I couldn’t bear to lose. He smiles at me and nods. “Jason sent someone after it last week. It wasn’t hurt that bad. Nothing a little TLC can fix.” I sigh and lean my head back. Then I realize something. “I’ve been here a week?”

“Yep, and unconscious the whole time.” He looks over at Jason and smiles again. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who smiles as much as this man. “He hasn’t left your side since. He really cares about you.” He checks my ribs. “They’ve healed up just fine. I want you to stay in bed for a couple of days more just to be on the safe side though. Then you’ll be free to get up and explore all you want.”

He leaves the room. Feeling eyes on me, I turn and look at Jason. The color of his deep green hazel eyes sends waves of calmness and peace around me. “Hey princess.” He says. His voice sounds like honey. I give him a shy smile and he smiles back. “I’m Jason Bell.”

“Tyler O’Shea.” The name slips out. Like I said, my memories are blurry, and I can’t remember much. But I knew my name beyond a shadow of a doubt. “Tyler huh?”

“Yeah, I’m not sure why my parents named me that.” He chuckles and I smile. I love the sound of his laugh. He smile gets bigger and I realize that I said that out loud. Feeling my cheeks blaze, I look down at my hands. Jason touches my cheek. Sparks race along my skin where his met mine.

I look him in the eyes and again the feeling of peace flood me. “You’re my mate, aren’t you?” I ask softly. “I am darling. I am.” A soft sigh slips from my lips and he smiles. Scooting over, I make enough room for him to sit beside me. When he climbs onto the bed with me, I lay my head on his shoulder and close my eyes. I listen to his heartbeat and find myself going back to sleep.
