(So some juicy shit's gonna happen this chapter, so pay attention 😏)
-Next day-
I got up early, still shaken up about last night.
It was around 9:00 AM. But right now, did I care? No.
And it's early for me and my family, okay? I'm a teenager, what do you expect?
Because of everything that just happened last night, I need to get my mind off of something.
Practicing. Sattler's quarry.
That's where I should go.
And yes, I do still practice there. Daily, if possible.
But I can't find anything else to work with at the quarry right now...
I sneaked into the laundry room, and stole some of the lint from the lint trap thingy.
It's flammable.
(I learned that at camp several years ago, okay)
I grabbed a plastic bag and stuffed as much lint in it as I possibly could.
Then, I left a note on my bed for my parents to find.
Went to the quarry. I'll be back by 10.
Would 1 hour be enough? I mean, I hope. Maybe I'll be back by 9:30, who knows?
When I finally got there, which was only a few minutes later, it seemed quiet and peaceful.
I'll just have to make do with the lint that I have with me right now.

-Mike's POV-
Oh, shit.
What am I supposed to tell El?
Hopper threatened me! To stay away from her!
What am I supposed to do at all?
My heart was thumping, trying to figure out what to do.
Would I have to lie? And if so, about Nana?
I was down in the basement when my mom called my name.
"MIKE!!! PHONE!!!"
"OKAY!" I yelled back.
Oh, shit. Was it El?
I nervously walked to the phone.
I then answered without hesitation.
"Hello?" I'm about to die. And if not now, El will.
I heard a sigh. "It's 9:32. Where are you?" She asked, impatiently.
Ugh, I don't know if I can do this!
But Hopper... he'll force me to stop seeing her.
"Sorry, I-- I was just about to call," I stammered. "I, um... can't see you today."
Ugh, those words hurt deep.
"What-- why not?" She asked.
"It's my Nana. She's VERY sick,"
I felt so bad lying, I swear. I mean, El was my girlfriend, what am I supposed to do?
"But-- Hop said that your Nana was okay, that it was a false alarm," She said, as I mouthed t myself, shit!!
"Yeah," I said. "That's... what... we thought it was at first, but then she took a real turn for the worse."
"Oh," She said, dully, and confused.
"Yeah. We think she might... die."
"What?" I heard, and immediately realized that my MOM WAS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DAMN PHONE!
My jaw dropped, and I put the phone down. "MOM, GET OFF THE PHONE!! HOW MANY TIMES!!!" I yelled.
"DID NANA CALL?" She yelled through the phone.
'NO, MOM, JUST GET! OFF! THE! PHONE!"
SHIT!
WHY!
OUT OF ALL TIMES!
WHY NOW!!
I heard her scoff into the phone and she hung up. I practically collapsed against the pole thing the phone was on.
My body was full-on trembling by now.
She's gonna know that I lied.
"Sorry about that," I said with the world's fakest chuckle.
"Was that your mom?" El asked.
"Yeah, she's so upset she's making no sense, because we have to go to the nursing home. To see Nana."
"You can come over after?"
"NO!" I said, yelling. I felt so bad. "I mean, I-- I just think... I need to be alone today. With my... feelings?"
There was a 1 second pause. "Do you lie?" She asked.
SHIT!
SHE KNOWS!
"What! No!" I said. "Friends don't lie." I put the phone down a bit. "WHAT MOM!" I pretended my mom had called me. "My mom's calling me. Better go. Talk to you tomorrow miss you already, bye!"
I slammed the phone back into the thing.
I put my head on the phone.
Ugh, when did relationships get so damn hard?

I decided that I need to go see Kylie.
I mean, she's the only other girl I can talk to.
I'd ask Max, because she's the only other girl in the party who's dating. But she hates me still, so I don't have any option.
And Will still hasn't realized that Kylie likes him. I mean, it's obvious. But until he does and started liking her back, my options are limited.
I need girl advice. Bad.
I told my mom I'd be heading over, but didn't say where, leaving her in even more confusion that our call we just had.
I bike over to Kylie's house. I knocked on the door, and Mrs. Stell answered.
"Hey, Mike. You looking for Kylie?" She said kindly.
I was out of breath. "Yeah, is she here?"
"No, she left a note saying she went to Sattler's quarry. I don't know why. But she said she'd be back by 10, probably at the latest. Does that answer your question?"
"Yes, thank you," I said, getting back on my bike, leaving the Stell residence.

I finally arrived at Sattler's quarry, where I could hear grunting and kind of what seemed like... flames?
Ah, well, I must be hallucinating.
But I was still confused. I parked my bike and discreetly walked along the rock wall thingy.
As I got closer in view, I saw Kylie, but she didn't seem... okay?
Before I could say anything and ask if she was okay, I saw her wipe her nose, and when she pulled away, there was... blood?
I felt so confused, so I his behind a large rock, peering over it.
I saw a big and thick ball of lint sitting on the cliff, and I wondered why the hell that was there.
Then she stretched out her hand.
He hand was open, and shaking, and she was grunting.
Then it felt as if there were some... force?
Then, before my eyes, the ball of lint was set on fire.

I looked back at Kylie, who now had more blood streaking down her nose.
Oh, my--

What the actual hell is happening right now?!
Tell me I'm dreaming right now!
Because if I'm not, I'm gonna sue somebody! (Ya'll know that Mikey wouldn't do that XD I don't even know why I put that in there, God, I'm such a weirdo XD)
I ducked down as my eyes widened and I turned myself around.
