Today, I vow to write again,
When there hits no muse,
And all seems blue.
Today, I vow to write again,
When the day's gone in a blur,
And my face drained of colour.
Today, I vow to write again,
With a stack of pages crumpled in the bin,
And another stack uncreased yet blank.
Today, I vow to write again,
In sickness, in health, in joy and grief,
When there's too much to say or nothing left to believe.
Today, I vow to write again,
Whether I'm stopped, harassed or criticized,
I won't lose my voice or my ability to write.
Today, I vow to write again,
When there's no one left to read,
No, you're wrong, there'll always be me.
To all the writers out there, keep writing.
