TULIP

"tulips represent the declaration of a deep love."

❀ ❀ ❀

"Darling, you look fine!" Draco reassured the anxiety filled brunet. "She's practically family, I don't really think that she's going to care about what a few flowers look like."

"I know that, Draco, but I care!" Harry explained.

The brunet had been rushing around the shop for hours now, watering every rose, rearranging every bouquet, and obsessing over his appearance in the mirror. The blond had tried to reassure the other at least a million times by now, but Harry was just too worried to slow down. He hadn't seen her since he left years ago, and anxiety consumed him when thinking about what she would think of him.

The reason the woman was traveling so far to see them was because she had some kind of important news that just couldn't be shared over the telephone- which only made Harry's nerves spike more.

"Harry," Draco took the rag away from his loves precious hands, where the boy had been scrubbing away at a countertop. "It's going to be fine."

Harry stopped cleaning, and sighed deeply. He turned his head to meet the others gentle gaze, and pressed a small kiss to the blonds forehead, "I know, and I'm sorry."

"It's completely fine, grumpy," Draco took this opportunity to gently press his lips to the others; savoring the warm feeling that swarmed from the top of his head down to the tips of his toes.

The two boys broke apart when the sound of the chiming bell, signaled that someone else had entered the shop. Harry was out of his arms in a instant, and running straight for the beautiful young woman who had entered.

"Hermione!" He yelled, crushing her in a hug. "It's so good to see you!"

"It's good to see you too, Harry!" She laughed, before her eyes landed on Draco. "And you must be the special boy I keep hearing about!"

Draco let out a soft laugh, and looked over to see Harry's cheeks burn.

"I guess that is me," He replied smiling. "I love your top, by the way, very pretty."

"Oh, thank you, it's-"

"Well, you could've just called me by my name, but 'top' will do too."

None of the three had noticed when the door chime rang again, and in walked another young woman with black hair cut into a bob. She smirked when she entered, and her hand automatically reached for Hermione's once they locked eyes.

"Harry, this is Pansy." Hermione paused, and looked at her lover; eyes filled to the brim with love and adoration. "My fiancée."

Harry's green eyes went wide when they finally landed on the small rings that sat on their interlaced fingers. When he finally came to his senses, the only emotion visible on his face was pure glee, and the brunet threw himself into a hug with the other two women.

"Congratulations!" Harry's voice was muffled due to the hug, but his words were still audible. "When's the wedding?"

"Next year!" Pansy spoke, releasing the other two from the hug and stepping back.

Harry stepped away, beaming at both of them. It was only then when he felt a pair of strong arms wrap around his waist that he remembered his lover. The brunet boy beamed up at him, and pressed a quick kiss to his temple, before introducing him, "Hermione, Pansy, this is why I brought you here- to meet Draco!"

Draco offered the hand that wasn't around his loves waist to the girls, and smiled when they shook it.

"It's so nice to meet you, Harry just wouldn't shut up about you this morning."

Harry playfully hit Draco's shoulder, but before he could retort, Pansy spoke up next.

"So, are you two like a thing?" She asked, pointing between the two of them.

Both boys froze, not knowing how to answer. Sure they've kissed, but what their relationship was still wasn't official, and neither wanted to rush the other.

"What?" Harry broke the silence, feeling Draco's curious eyes on him. "No!"

"But you two are standing really close to each other," Hermione pointed out, smirking.

"And?" Draco interrupted, with a playful smile on his lips. "Harry, is a very affectionate person. A bit needy really."

"Draco, your arm is literally wrapped around his waist," Pansy exclaimed, making big gestures between the two boys and grinning.

"Okay, so we're really, really, really close friends!" Harry objected, stifling a laugh with his hand. "We're just friends."

Pansy and Hermione looked at each other with a knowing look filling their eyes, as if a bet was already in place for how long it would take for the boys to finally come together.

Long after the two girls had said their goodbyes, Harry was closing up the shop for the day, and he noticed that something was off with Draco. The boy still laughed and smiled at him like he always did, but the kisses had stopped, and his hand no longer lingered on his when they touched. The brunet desperately wanted to help the blond with whatever he was feeling, but he felt stuck as to how.

"Harry?" Draco asked from where he sat on the floor, unorganized tulips surrounding him and waiting to be put in a vase. Draco often helped Harry with most of the shop work, and today the two boys spent most of the time doing just that.

     "Yeah?"

"Do you really think of me as just a friend?" And though he didn't look at Harry in the eyes when he spoke, he could still see the disappoint behind them.

Harry joined the other on the floor, careful not to crush any of the flowers around them. He placed a gentle hand on his lovers face, and tilted up it up so he could look at him in the eyes as he spoke. "No, my love. I think of you as basically everything but a friend."

"I'm so glad to hear that, because I don't think I could last one more minute of just being your friend," Draco laughed, a joyous sound that filled the shop with happiness.

"Neither could I," Harry shook his head, and picked a single tulip off of the floor, a idea forming in his head.  "May I ask you if you know what this flower means?"

The blond had a look of pure adoration cross over his face as he realized what was happening, and he felt his heart beat faster. "Yes, Harry, I know what it means. Why don't you remind me though?"

"Well, darling, this flower is a tulip!" Harry stated proudly. "It's a very pretty tulip. It's also yellow!"

At this, a burst of laughs escaped the blond, and he couldn't help but press a lingering kiss to the brunet's cheek.

"Don't laugh at me! You're much better at this than me!" Harry continued, smiling while his cheeks became pink. "Anyways, a tulip is mainly used for declarations of love."

"It's a shame that one of those aren't happening right now then."

The brunet placed the flower in the blonds right hand, and interlaced his fingers in the others other hand. "Ah, but that's where you're wrong. Because, in this moment I am positive that I love you."

"I love you so much more, Harry."
