Incinerate
I stare at unattractive markings
lining once freckled skin.
Your lopsided cap matching your gait
ambling down hallways
hands in pockets.
Mind on heaven or hell
or me. I shudder, you snicker and I can’t
understand how I want eyes like water
but life like fire. All consuming, burn
my naivety. Ignite my thoughts.
With you my existence would
incinerate. Causalities staring
with dead eyes and charred skin
chanting tales of ruined
date nights and love making.
I don’t want you or need you or imagine
how lips taste and destroying feels.
Your danger, the unattainability attracts
my hand towards the flame
scorching and cauterizing my volatile heart.
