"Y/n, I have something for you. I know it's not your birthday yet, but because you're going to your family to celebrate." He says whilst getting up from the couch in his apartment we were sitting on together. "So, I thought I'd give it to you now."
"Russel, I said I didn't want any presents!" I try to grab his wrist to pull him back on the sofa, missing him underneath the blanket. He hovers over me, pinning my hands next to my head. "I really meant that, George."
"Only the best for my best friend." He whispers in my ear and kissing my temple.
"Can't it wait? I want you here." I say when I lift the blanket up, he gives me a look like 'Girl, no! You thought.' and walks away to his bedroom.
"Close your eyes." He says around the corner and I close my eyes, I can't deny I'm hyped as hell for the present he got me. I hear some shuffling and footsteps. He whispers: "Open your eyes, darling."
"If it's an avocado I'll kill you." I say as I see a quite big carton box and we start to laugh. "I mean, do it for the vine, right?"
"It's not, it's not an avocado, I promise." He hands me the box and I put it down on my lap. He takes a seat next to me, so close our legs are touching a bit. His hand travels through his brown hair, his fingers on his other hand tapping on his knee, clearly nervous. "Now, open it."
I open the box and I meet the most beautiful dark brown eyes of a puppy. A gasp leaving my mouth as I lift the little pup in the air, I look at George a little and his smile is the brightest of all. The pup of soft to the touch and makes me fall in love with it right away.
"I know you've always wanted a dog." He moves the box out of the way, the puppy licks my cheek to get my attention and of course I'll give it what it wants. "He just needs a name now."
"He looks like a Norris..." I laugh and his little tail begins to swaddle, ears perking up. I put it back on my lap and he sits down.
"He likes it. But really, named after Lando?" He pets the head of the pup, Norris.
"Hell yeah!" I put little Norris down on the floor and snuggle up with Russel, still keeping a close eye on the playing pup. He found a clean pair of socks that were laying around and he starts playing with it. "Thank you, this is the best present I've ever gotten."
"Anything for my princess." He smiles and holds me tight in his embrace, kissing the top of my head. "I know your building doesn't allow pets, but mine does. I was thinking maybe you want to move in with me. Just as best friends' fine, of course."
"George, you're absolutely stupid if you'd think I'd want to move in with you." I move up to sit on his lap and lock our eyes. His eyes scream worry and nervousness somehow, I kiss him. His soft lips move along with mine perfectly, I move my hands to cup his cheeks and deepen the kiss. I whisper in his ear after we pulled apart: "As just best friends."
"I've always known this was mutual."
