"you've gone soft!" cam sings in glee, dancing around me like there weren't people trying to study all around us.
"cam, shut up! i'm returning the favour." i pull some cash from my wallet and smile at frank.
"what can i get for you, amelia?"
"nothing for me today. i wanted to ask: what does 'jack' usually drink?"
frank's lips almost pull into a smirk before retaking their professional air--although i can see him trying to fight a grin when he speaks. "he likes sweet things. and around this season, something warm and seasonal."
i hand him ten bucks. "if he comes in, can you please get him a large french vanilla and a chocolate chip cookie?" i almost blush making the order, but i don't. cam is right there and she'd definitely laugh. "tell him it's in loving thoughts of sandy."
"gotcha."
suddenly, the door dings and harper from chemistry enters the coffee shop. it was weird; i had never seen him down here before, or anyone from my chemistry class for that matter. they all came at different breaks than me.
harper smiles at me. "hey amelia!"
"hey! whoa-" cam is hauling me out of the shop before i get any more words out. "what are you doing?!" i grumble as she pulls us into an awkward crouch beside the store. "he could be the one!"
"that's the point, stupid. god, for someone so smart, you sure are dumb. you really think frank is going to give him the stuff when you're right there?"
i keep silent because i know she's right. cam may be a bit ditzy, but she was a whole lot better at this than i was.
harper exits the shop holding a large something and a something in a bag, but i never find out what they were.
