Jisoo's Secret

Prompt: Jisoo's got quite the secret for Jennie.

*****

Jisoo couldn't remember the last time she was so anxious to see Jennie.

Not that she wasn't always raring to see her wife and best friend, but now, more so than ever. Jennie was set to return from a long playoff series that just happened to be across the country.

And now?

She was a game away from a championship title.

Her wife was going to be a contender in the Superbowl.

Which was, of course, amazing. It was incredible. Jennie was a role model to women and people around the world. She was inspirational, gifted, driven. She earned herself the highest honor she possibly could, in the league.

But what Jennie didn't know, was that she was also a soon-to-be mother.

As of that afternoon, Jisoo had discovered, when a routine test had shown positive.

The doctor had told them it wasn't always successful, especially with a complicated procedure like theirs. She and Jennie had spent months deliberating, with Jennie even offering to put her career on the line to carry, if Jisoo wished it.

In the end, Jisoo took the burden (and joy), and it was left up to her to see if she could sustain it through the weeks.

Apparently, she had, because the test was positive.

Through this procedure, the gender was already determined.

They were going to have a little girl.

And Jisoo hadn't told Jennie, yet.

In fact, she hadn't told anyone.

The moment hit her like a ton of bricks, and in some way, she knew she should've waited for Jennie. But the test was right there, and she knew she had to get busy later making dinner and arrangements for her exhausted wife, so she just went for it.

And of course, this was the one time it happened.

After that, Jisoo began spiraling.

She barely managed to order some takeout on time, constantly checking the clock for Jennie's arrival. She began thinking a little too much, wondering if she needed to tell Jennie immediately? Upfront? Or was this like...a proposal? Planned? Jisoo bit her lip, paying off the delivery girl with a more than generous tip, and a shy smile.

Then, she started thinking about Jennie's possible reactions.

Oh, god, Jennie was already preoccupied with her game. What if she changed her mind? What if she suddenly didn't want children? What if Jisoo gained too much weight and Jennie was turned off by it?

Thoughts began swimming in her mind, settling deep in the pit of her stomach.

This was insane.

Right then, at that very moment, there was a child growing inside her. Part her, part Jennie. Their baby. She was going to have Jennie's baby. She was going to be a mother.

Right as she felt tears prick at her eyes, she heard the front door open, the key turning in the lock.

A familiar voice roused her from her worries.

"Jisoo?" Jennie called, her voice soft like silk and sweet like honey, calling to Jisoo more than anything else ever could.

"Hey." Jisoo offered herself from around the corner, running a hand through her hair in an attempt to fix it before Jennie caught sight of her. "Congratulations, baby!" She enthused, and she wasn't sure where she found the strength to grin, except for her sheer happiness for Jennie. "I watched every second of the game, and I watched your press conference. Oh my god. I know I called you earlier, but, the shock is still new. Wow, congrats." Jisoo gushed.

Jennie looked beautiful, all fresh and clean since the game, wearing a comfortable looking hoodie and sweats, yet somehow managing to keep her effortlessly elegant look.

She grinned, blushing just a little (only because it was Jisoo who was complimenting her, and she still had a crush on Jisoo), leaning forward to wrap her arms around her wife's waist.

"Thank you." Jennie murmured, and the two were all in for a kiss that shook them both, a little added electricity from both of their hectic days suddenly in full force. She was smiling against Jisoo's lips because Jisoo was smiling, and they were content just to hold each other for a moment, Jennie's bags long forgotten on the floor.

"There's..." Jisoo cut herself off, leaning for another kiss. She let out a needy little moan, allowing Jennie to pick her up.

"There's...?" Jennie urged her to continue, smirking a little before placing a tender kiss against Jisoo's jawline.

"Takeout." Jisoo amended softly. "Takeout, on the table."

Jennie smiled, kissing Jisoo's cheek. "You're so thoughtful. You didn't have to."

"I wanted to celebrate." Jisoo murmured, "this is a...big day for you."

Jennie smiled back, and it was radiant. "It's a big day for me because I get to see you again for the first time in a week."

Jisoo blushed this time, her arms around Jennie's neck. "Stop, ladykiller." She mumbled, burying her face in Jennie's neck. "Aren't you exhausted? I was thinking we could eat, maybe I could give you a massage if you're sore....we could cuddle?"

"That sounds heavenly." Jennie replied, kissing Jisoo's head. "But save your energy on that massage, I was spoiled before I came here."

Jisoo silently cursed Jennie's team masseuse for removing one more barrier from her schedule and shifting her "announcement" up a slot.

"Okay." Jisoo nodded, and Jennie set her down, completely entranced by her.

The way Jennie looked at her so reverently, as if she were a goddess, alleviated some of Jisoo's worries. This was her Jennie. Jennie who was just as crazy about her as she was for Jennie.

Of course she'd be happy.

...Right?

*****

"What's going on in that beautiful mind of yours?" Jennie murmured from beside Jisoo on the couch, the two enjoying their takeout food, relaxing together, mostly playing footsie.

"Who, me?" Jisoo balked, turning red.

"No, Fish." Jennie teased, and the pitbull lifted his head at his name, joining in on nuzzling their feet from where he sat at the end of the couch, Goose the cat wrapped up between his paws.

Jisoo lived for their "family" cuddling time.

Fish and Goose got along surprisingly well, and she and Jennie didn't mind having them sit on the couch, with them.

The idea of a baby suddenly made Jisoo's heart skip a beat.

A little girl, with Jennie's features. Bright brown eyes, a cheeky smile....

Jisoo's smile almost gave her away.

"Love?" Jennie set aside her dish, glass of wine in hand.

"I'm...thinking about your win." Jisoo confessed a lie. "It was amazing."

And it truly was, Jisoo had watched it.

It was the second most important event of the day.

Jennie watched as Jisoo set aside her container as well, eyeing the bottle of wine that sat on the coffee table.

One of Jennie's expensive collector's bottles, opened in celebration.

God, Jisoo wanted to chug it, just to ease herself into this conversation.

Or, she wanted to lick it off of her wife's full lips.

Wait, where the hell did that come from?

Was horniness a symptom of pregnancy? Or was that just her wanting to celebrate?

Jisoo's mind was so, so confused.

She really needed Jennie's input, but she found that it just wasn't the right time.

"You never skip wine." Jennie furrowed her brow, cupping Jisoo's cheek with one hand. "Are you sure you're alright, Jisoo? You haven't said a word all night."

Jisoo blinked, grasping for any reason as to why she wouldn't be able to act like she normally would. "What? Yeah, no, I'm fine! I'm just in awe of your...performance today."

"It was mostly the guys." Jennie replied modestly. "Here, let me get you a glass of wine." She reached for the bottle, but Jisoo suddenly pushed her hand back.

"Jisoo, what the-" Before Jennie could finish, Jisoo was attacking her lips, pushing her back against the couch. "Mmmf." Jennie groaned, sliding her hands down to grab Jisoo's hips appreciatively.

"Sorry." Jisoo murmured against her lips. "I just really wanted to do that."

"Don't apologize." Jennie replied soothingly. She sounded slightly confused, and Jisoo actually felt bad for her poor wife. "Is that....did you want to..."

They never usually had to ask, to initiate sex.

That was just one sign of how awkward Jisoo was being.

"Oh!" Jisoo balked. "Oh, um. Yeah! Yeah, definitely. Uh. Can I just...Let me go clean up, and I'll..."

Jennie looked dumbstruck. "We don't have to-"

"Sure!" Jisoo pushed herself off the couch, calling over her shoulder, "Meet me upstairs!"

"Meet you...what?" Before Jennie could make sense of any of it, she was gone. "Okay...I'll just clean up, down here, I guess."

*****

Jennie spent her cleaning time preparing a speech.

She wasn't exactly sure what had happened while she was away, but it was clear that something had.

Jisoo was acting beyond bizarre, and Jennie was having a hard time trying to decipher why that was.

She came to one reasonable conclusion.

Jisoo was feeling neglected, because of her week away. And, sure, that overly flirtatious interview with that anchor Jisoo hated hadn't helped either.

But Jennie thought Jisoo trusted her enough to know that she'd never fool around, so why the sudden upheaval? Nothing made sense, but Jennie was intent on fixing it.

She'd cleaned up, gathered her bags, and made the long trek up to the master bedroom, listening for Jisoo.

Instead, she heard Seunghyun's old record player rolling, and she heard the familiar lilt of Robert Plant's vocals hit the air, to a bluesy sort of guitar riff.

Jennie smiled to herself. That was a little more like Jisoo.

Jennie sat her bags down by the doorway, slowly walking into the room, surprised to find the lights dimmed, candles burning.

So maybe Jisoo had just been acting strange as a front for Jennie's massage?

Jennie was completely baffled as she looked for Jisoo, instead, finding the balcony door open. Jennie cocked a brow but stepped out nonetheless.

She was greeted by the small fountain in the corner trickling peacefully, fairy lights strung up, illuminating the vines that clung to the railing so delicately, spreading their verdant limbs all the way across the stretch of twisted iron that made up the rails.

The moon was high in the sky, a couple of stars visible by its light.

Jisoo was sitting one of the chairs, clutching a small, leatherbound book in her hands. It was a moleskine, and it looked utterly familiar. She wore a calm expression, a hint of a smile in her eyes.

"What's this?" Jennie asked softly, admiring Jisoo in her faded YG High Football Program t-shirt.

Jisoo stood, handing her the journal. "Do you remember this?" She whispered.

Jennie's eyes narrowed for a moment at the journal, her fingers brushing against Jisoo's own, against the engagement ring that sat on it, and the wedding band after, before grazing the leather. She took a breath.

"Open it." Jisoo prodded amusedly, and Jennie obeyed, flipping it open.

Suddenly, it all came rushing back to her.

The end of their senior year, at YG High.

A small smile graced Jennie's face as she neared the most recent sketchbook, adorned with drawings of elegant white wedding gowns and intricate floral bouquets. She'd suspected she'd find something like this in Jisoo's work after the many times they'd discussed, sometimes jokingly, sometimes not, their future "hypothetical" marriage. It wouldn't be hypothetical if Jennie had anything to say about it.

As she flipped through pages of dresses, Jennie couldn't help but imagine it all.

The thought of marrying someone would send most high schoolers into a blind panic, but for Jennie, it felt like a wonderful, attainable dream. She could easily visualize herself standing at the altar as Jisoo walked down, in all her ethereal glory, to meet her.

When she turned the page again, expecting nothing more than more wedding drawings, her breath caught in her throat.

"Jisoo?"

Her voice came out as more of a strangled whisper than anything, and she was surprised that Jisoo even heard her, but barely a few moments passed before the brunette was exiting her room to see what her girlfriend was talking about.

"Jennie? What are you-- oh. "

Dark brown eyes were fixated on the sketches on the page in front of her, and Jisoo shifted nervously from foot to foot.

"I know it's kinda weird," Jisoo said, "and it's probably much too ear--"

"They should have your eyes." Jennie cut her off abruptly.

"What?"

"They should have your eyes," Jennie repeated forcefully, looking up at Jisoo with wonder in her own, "they're a much nicer color."

Scattered across the pages were dozens of sketches of children, in all different ages. Cute little boys with curly brunette hair and little girls with brunette ringlets. Their faces varied in structure, with cute little noses and rosy baby cheeks, but the common factor among all of them was their eyes. Jennie's eyes. Brown and vibrant and so filled with life.

"You..." Jisoo started, "this doesn't weird you out?"

"Why would it?" Jennie exhaled breathlessly, eyes still busy soaking in every potential child Jisoo could have imagined. "Jisoo, these are wonderful."

"Yeah, but most high school couples aren't thinking about children."

"Jisoo, I would love nothing more than to be married to you in a big house on a hill with a small brood of children, a dog, and a cat," Jennie assured her, pulling her girlfriend towards her, grinning. "In fact, I'd like that right now."

"Jennie," Jisoo laughed, "that's not genetically possible right now, and we have college--"

"Screw college," Jennie told her reverently, "I'm so in love with you, Jisoo." With another look at the pictures, Jennie pulled Jisoo towards her, peppering kisses all over her girlfriend's face, resulting in Jisoo's furious giggles. Jennie moved her kisses down Jisoo's neck, fingers tracing down her sensitive sides, and she lifted the bottom of Jisoo's shirt gently, pressing soft, tender kisses to the other girl's stomach.

"Jen," Jisoo giggled, "baby, there's nothing there."

"Not yet," Jennie said in between kisses, "but someday there will be."

"How many kids do you want?" Jisoo asked, curled into her girlfriend's side.

"Thirteen," Jennie responded immediately with a wide grin, her favorite number. Jisoo's eyes narrowed when she turned to observe the other girl.

"Jennie, there is no way in hell I'm pushing thirteen babies out of me," she chided, "think about how many months of pregnancy that would be, no thank you." Jennie frowned, though she wasn't entirely deterred.

"Seven?"

"I think two would suffice, babe."

"Five?"

" Jennie , we'd be outnumbered. Two."

"...four?" she pleaded, eyes wide, and Jisoo sighed.

"Three, that's my cap." Jennie grinned, her hand finding a resting place on Jisoo's stomach, as though she was willing children to grow there already.

"Boys or girls?" Jennie asked, lost in the fantasy of it all.

"All girls," Jisoo responded immediately, "much easier to manage."

"All girls? Can't we have at least one boy?" Jennie pleaded. "A big brother for his little sisters? Or a baby boy?"

"Hopefully we don't have more than one boy," Jisoo laughed, "seeing as he'll have your stubbornness and accident-prone behaviors."

"Have you thought of any names?"

"Well, we'll have to name one of our daughters after you," Jisoo grinned, "maybe Jennie Rubyjane."

"Please tell me we aren't continuing the J-name legacy of my family," Jennie pleaded, "I don't think I'll be able to handle welcoming anymore people with the name J. Kim into the world."

"Only the one," Jisoo promised, "though I'm also really fond of the names Elizabeth and Darcy." Jennie narrowed her eyes and Jisoo laughed.

"Naming children after Pride and Prejudice, Jisoo? Really?"

"What?" she defended. "They're good names."

"And for boys? I personally like Oliver, or maybe Benjamin."

"Or Nathaniel."

"How about Seunghyun?" Jennie asked, suddenly, and Jisoo quieted. "Jisoo?"

Jennie's eyes filled with concern when she noticed that Jisoo's were filled with unshed tears, and pulled her closer to her.

"I just wish he was here to meet you," Jisoo told her sadly, "he'd have loved you, and how good you are to me."

"He sounds like a great man," Jennie agreed, "I would have loved to have been able to meet him."

"Seunghyun," Jisoo repeated again, "it's a good name, isn't it? Seunghyun Kim."

Jennie hummed in agreement, resting her head in Jisoo's neck as they stayed there, sprawled across the floor. They fell asleep thinking about the patter of little feet against hardwood floors, laughter echoing through the halls of a home filled to the brim with life and love.

Jennie felt her fingers shake as she moved through the pages, sketches lining them. Sketches Jisoo did throughout the years.

From YG, to Polis, to now.

The most recent sketches were lined with thicker ink, less faded than the rest. Jisoo had sketched a little girl, wearing an oversized copy of Jennie's jersey from the game earlier.

She had wavy hair like Jennie's, bright eyes and a cheeky smile. She looked so much like Jennie, entirely Jisoo's doing.

Finally, finally, her dreams were coming true.

Jisoo moved to lean against the railing for a moment, glancing up towards the moon, her smile never leaving her face. She gave Jennie a moment of clarity, of realization.

When Jennie gasped a silent, reverent, "Jisoo." She knew.

Jisoo turned to Jennie, grabbing her hands by the wrists. She was smiling all the while, soothing Jennie's shaking hands as she rested them atop her stomach, her hands sitting over Jennie's.

The next moment was magical.

Jennie gasped once more, then looked at Jisoo's stomach, and then her eyes. Jennie's lips were parted in silent awe, tears already formed and falling from her eyes.

"I..." Jennie whispered. "You..." She tried to gather herself, but she found it impossible.

She couldn't find words, for a moment. Not when her beautiful wife, the woman of her dreams, her highschool sweetheart, her best friend, stood before her, bathing in moon and starlight, in their dream home, telling her the greatest news she'd ever heard in her life.

"You're...pregnant?" Jennie finally whispered, and she couldn't even remember how she managed to form the words.

"I'm pregnant." Jisoo choked out in a happy sob. "This afternoon." She added, knowing Jennie would want to know when she learned.

Suddenly, all the anxiety Jisoo had, dissipated.

The grin on Jennie's face was delightful on some otherworldly level. This was the happiest she'd ever been, and in turn, the happiest she'd ever seen Jennie.

"I'm having your baby." Jisoo added, sharing the thought that had given her so much immense joy throughout the afternoon.

Jennie looked like she was going to blackout from the happiness. "You...I...." She stumbled over her own words. "Jisoo, this is....this is the greatest news of my life. Oh, god, this..."

Jisoo grinned, gently rubbing Jennie's hand over her stomach. "I know." She whispered, and Jennie was embracing her.

This time, it was gentle.

There was no anxious hunger, no thirst to be quenched. It was gentle movements, gentle touches as Jennie held her, kissing her tenderly, with unrivaled love.

Jisoo couldn't remember a time she'd been happier.

Jennie paused, against her lips.

"What is it?" Jisoo murmured, stroking Jennie's cheek with entirely too much love.

"Jennie Rubyjane?" Jennie croaked, the memory fresh in her mind.

Jisoo grinned once more, leaning back in for a taste of Jennie's lips. "Jena." She whispered.

"Jena." Jennie echoed, resting her forehead against Jisoo's.

She didn't realize that the change would happen so quickly, but she felt some indescribable need to hold Jisoo, to feel her, to be there for her, to protect her.

Suddenly, in that moment, everything changed.

It wasn't Jisoo and Jennie, anymore.

It was Jisoo, Jennie, their family.

They were going to have a baby.

"Fuck." Jennie sobbed, laughing and choking at once. Jisoo was pregnant with her child. The idea was so amazing, so enticing, so unbelievably surreal and beautiful, that she felt dizzy with happiness.

"Jennie." Jisoo whispered against her lips. "Take me to bed, baby."
