the flare of scented candles
draws shadows on the walls
while the loneliness creeps
as a phantom in shady halls
i make out your silhouette
in the darkness around me
even if i know that it's just
your absence roaming free
how long until i stop starin'
at the darkness around me
how long until i forget you
'n' everythin' we used to be
your voice was softly woven
in a tapestry of our existence
and now all this loud silence
it just doesn't make any sense
this battle has wrecked me
i've lost the bet and i know
why don't i leave life alone
it's convenient for me, no?
for you were the matchstick
that set my deep love to fire
yet it's an arson that i crave
even if the aftermath is dire
Author's Note
Listening to 'Under my Skin' by SPC ECO. It's so ethereal..you must give it a listen. ❤
I'm not so happy with this poem because it's nothing new. Just another ordinary one. :')
Much love,
