Ada

I grabbed my garment bag and set it down on the floor. Bree looked over to the bed, and then back at me. I dropped all my shit and ran over there to claim the last available bed in the suite.

Bree clipped me and my ass hit the ground. She thought she had got away with it but I grabbed her ankles, making her fall a couple feet before she could dib the bed.

"You trifling bitch. I got in the room first!" I smacked and got back on my feet.

"And? I'm tryna get my own bed tonight. If that means I gotta fight to get it, then I will," she rolled her eyes.

I removed my jacket and my earrings. "Let's go right now. It's a beautiful day for your funeral hoe!" She posted up and I did too.

"Y'all so busy trying to beat each other down, the bed already been taken," Neisha said matter-of-factly.

"You two always getting into it, do better," some random broad sitting on the bed we were going to take eyed us. She was on Neisha's bridal train but I ain't know her too well. "Yo Bree, who the hell shorty talking to?" I asked.

"I'on know but it can't be you."

"And I know it's not you either bro." We laughed her off and straightened ourselves out. Neisha stood up from the only king bed and put her arms around us. "Can y'all chill out for one second," she chuckled.

"Look, I know that's finna be your family but she don't know us and what we about so why is she talking..." I stated. Me and Bree always fight like that, mostly because Sai was the only sister I had growing up. And Sai hates play fighting; she always killed my vibe over it. Plus, I'm an only child so whenever I get the chance to interact I do. Bree always know wassup.

"Yeah what is all these people doing here anyway? I thought it was going to be us 4 kicking it on your last unmarried day," I pouted. I needed some alone time with my girls. The wedding has been so hectic especially for the bride of course. She is still trying to get used to Shawn's posh ass family. I swear people get money and forget who they really are.

We walked outside of the room so the rest couldn't hear our conversation. "I don't know. Shawn's mother saw that I had a reservation for one of the smaller suites, just for me, y'all, and Sai. But then she was all like 'why not invite everyone else?'" Neisha mocked her soon to be mother in law.

"And what stopped you from saying no?" Bree asked shaking her head.

"I can't refuse her ass. She already don't think I'm good enough for her son!"

"Girl the bitches in there don't think you good enough for they cousin, they brother, hell whatever Shawn is to them. They have not been friendly since day 1." It was true, they never really welcomed us. And you could definitely tell there was a divide amongst all of us.

"Well, I think that settles it. We breaking out," I said.

"This is not Prison Break sis, we are not incarcerated." Neisha laughed at the two of us as we started to come up with our plan.

"We're gonna go back in one by one, two minutes apart. Bree, you put all our shit away and safe cause I know these bitches nosey. It'll be easy for me and Bree to sneak out but not you, Neisha, because they're gonna be looking for the bride. You gotta find a way to get out of there, then we'll come minutes later. Meet in my car, it'll be unlocked."

We followed the plan by not entering all at once. I sat on one of the couches as a movie was playing on the screen. Shit was boring I'm glad we finna go.

Neisha slowly inched towards the door. "Where are you going, sissy?" One of Shawn's cousins asked. I wanted to sock the shit outta her.  Ole extra happy ass. "Mind your business girl," I mumbled and rolled my eyes at her. She glanced at me and returned to Neisha. Now everyone in the room was looking.

While we are trying to leave without getting noticed, I thought I would cause a distraction. But then I realized Neisha is getting married tomorrow and she don't need none of that.

"Oh, I--" Neisha was not a good liar. She was gonna tank any second now. I looked around for Bree, who seemed to have already left. I guess we should kill two birds with one stone.

"...You said you wanted to talk to me about something? Remember?"

"Oh yeah, I did say that," she played along. I grabbed her arm and got out of there before she could ruin the lie any further.

"Bitch, why you didn't have your story together before you got up?" I whispered.

"Well-"

I heard some footsteps and talking from the door. "Come on Neisha they coming!" The door opened behind us as we ran all the way to the elevator. I clicked the down button as we laughed and caught our breath.

When we got to the lobby, Bree was just chilling in the lounge area. "Mane, didn't I say wait in my car?! We just ran a race trying to get away from them folks." I flicked her head and we all went outside.

"Where are y'all trying to go anyways?" Neisha asked. We knew we wanted to leave but not where to go.

"Let's get in the car first," Bree suggested.

I started up the engine and unlocked the doors so everyone could get in. "I'm just gon' drive, okay? Y'all tell me where to go."

"No sis that's wasting gas," Neisha said.

"I'd waste my gas for you, love."

"Just take us to downtown, then we can pick a bar or something," Bree began to search on her phone for places with the best booze.

"No bro she can't get wasted the night before her wedding," I shot the suggestion down.

"Bro I just realized it's the night before your wedding. Why the hell did we just sneak out?" I asked. We all looked at each other and started cracking up.

"I need to breathe, that's why we snuck out. Let's just go to a park or something. Fourth Ward still open right now." I put the address into the GPS and pulled out of the spot.

"Can we get some Chick Fil A first? You know they close early."

"Yes! Maybe it will calm my ass down," Neisha sighed. I knew she was a little scared but I didn't think anything of it.

"Wassup?"

Through the rearview mirror, I could see her rubbing her temples. "It's not that I'm scared to marry him, I do wanna spend the rest of my life with him. I just love him so much. He would be a great father too."

I agree. Shawn handled Neisha with care, imagine him with a couple juniors running around. "His family is just, not it for me. Y'all met my folks and know how they are. I don't get that friendly, loving, vibe from them. And no offense to his mama, she raised a great man. But she annoying as fuck." I chuckled at the last part.

"They just need a lot more time to get to know you, alright. Don't worry about them because tomorrow is all about you and Shawn. Let the old hag judge, who cares?" I shrugged.

"Older people always sticking they nose into stuff. Whatever she thinks of you, just forget it. Shawn is the one you're marrying," Bree added.

I pulled up to the drive-thru and rolled my windows down. "We are closed but since you lovely ladies drove all the way down here I will still take your orders. How lucky are you guys? The last ones we serve tonight!" The white woman said from the window.

"At this point, how can you hate Chick Fil A?" Neisha said from the backseat. "Thank you so much. Let me get three spicy deluxe meals, one with no pickles. One chocolate milkshake, a sweet tea, and some apple juice. And can I have 4 Polynesian sauce, 3 chick fil a sauce and yeah that's it."

"Buffalo, Buffalo," Neisha whispered from the back.

"Wayment, can I get 2 buffalo sauce please?"

"Yes ma'am." She got everything down on the computer and told me to go to the next window.

"Is there a 5-year-old in this bitch? Asking for apple juice, do you need a sippy cup?"

"Yes, mama," Bree said talking like a baby.

I grabbed our food and started heading over to the park. When we got there we started eating and talking, sitting on the hood of the trunk. The wind was hitting my ass a little too much, but luckily I had a blanket in the car.

"Do y'all think me and him going to last?" Neisha said out of nowhere.

"Of course. Y'all relationship is probably the most solid one I've ever seen."

Yes, they argue. They have their disagreements to where they don't talk to each other. But never have they ever gotten physical. Shawn never put his hands on her. They always communicate and she makes sure of it. He spoils Neisha rotten and she does the same to him. Most of all, they're one with God. Ugh, I stan.

Me and Kaiden need to get up with them. I'm happy with him, but sometimes I left wanting more of a relationship where we just talk about whatever and love on each other. Less fucking.

Well, maybe not less fucking. Just more talking.

"Hell no. Do not start with the doubts I'm not even finna let you do that," Bree added.

"You're overthinking it. Drink your milkshake." She laughed and dipped her fry in the drink. "It's too late in the game fa allat. Don't even worry about his family. They ass is going to come around sooner or later, okay?"

"Yeah, I hope." She sighed and looked up at the sky.

"I feel like we missing something," Bree broke the silence.

"Not something, someone. Where the hell is Sai?" I pulled my phone out and opened our texts. "It say, 'gonna go get my clothes rq then come by. do not get wasted w/o me dude 😑.'" I read aloud. "That was an hour ago."

"You know her and what's his name always getting busy. She gon' be at the hotel by the time we get back. Speaking of, we should go. The bride half asleep." I looked over to Neisha who head was bobbing back and forth. "And to think we was tryna t'up tonight. Get back in the car, sleepy."
