I walk into my room and slam the door hard. As I expected, I hear heavy footsteps. Aunt May
She knocks on my door and I can hear her jiggling the handle
"Peter? Are you okay? Please talk to me"
"Go away" i choke. She slides down the door and sits on the floor, leaning on it
"Listen to me, you don't have to talk, just listen... this isn't healthy Peter. You're shutting out your emotions-"
"Don't tell me what im doing, im doing what I need to" I growl
"Peter, this is consuming you. You have so many people who care about you and understand what your going through. Nobody could ever know what Tony meant to you, you know i know that right? I know it makes it 100 times worse knowing that he did it for you but you need to stop. Stop ignoring everyone, stop bottling things up until you explode on somebody. Ned told me what happened. I love you so much, and if you love me you will open this door, stop shutting everyone out, and start letting people love you"
I press my head against the door slide my fingers along the trim, finally reaching the handle and twisting the lock
"Okay" I can hear her sigh of relief as she swings the door open softly. She leans down and pulls me close to her
"What do I do now, May?" tears start to roll down my face. One by one turns into a steady downpour and i choke trying to stop them. May puts her hand over my head and pulls me closer to her
"You get to know Morgan, you let other people be sad with you, you eventually put it past you and move on with your life. But for now maybe you should start with talking to Ned?" I pull my head back and nod. Wiping the tears on my sleeve
I stand up and turn over my room looking for my phone. I finally find it under my bed
"Hello?"
"Hey Ned"
"Peter! Please don't hang up-"
"I wont... im sorry about earlier today i just... there's something I didn't tell you about... what happened with the Avengers"
"Wait are you officially an Avenger?"
"Well, yeah. Ironman told me i was when we first got onto the ship"
"Yuss! So what did you want to tell me?"
"Tony is... gone" the line is silent for what feels like forever until he finally responds
"Stark?"
"What other Tony, Ned?" I say, suddenly annoyed
"I'm sorry Peter. He was like your... dad"
"He wasn't my like 'dad' he was just my mentor"
"Ha! Okay Peter, look i've seen mentors, well in movies, but I can say for sure that he was more than that"
"You're not helping, Ned"
"Right sorry! I get now why you didn't want to talk to me. Are you still doing spidey stuff? Like are you still an Avenger?"
"Yeah i am an Avenger. But i haven't done 'spidey stuff' in a few weeks" silence
"Well, I really am sorry Peter, i get it if you don't really wanna do stuff. Like it sounds just so awful I mean, losing the one person in your life who you thought believed in you and-"
"Ned"
"Sorry. But like where have you been going off to each day if you haven't been Spider-Manning?"
"I've been... visiting Morgan"
"Oo-aaa-ooo whos mmmmmmorgannnnn?" he asks, I can almost hear his smirk from here
"Tony's 5 year old daughter"
We go back and forth for a while before I can't really stand talking anymore and toss my phone back under my bed
I feel like i've been given some sort of closure. Aunt May was kind of black mailing me but i'm glad she did it
The current problem is my mask. They didn't believe i was spiderman but i guess i could fix that. I pull the paper bag back over my head and head towards NYPD headquarters
When I get there, the same cop from this morning was still on duty
"Back for more cosplay, eh kid?" he laughs and sips his coffee, not giving me another thought
"Actually, its Spider-Man" i stick my webs around his cup and pull it, crashing to the ground. He looks up at me and his jaw drops
"I-I im sorry Mr Man- uh sir- ug Mr. Spider" he stutters, tossing me my mask from a bucket, hidden underneath the front counter
I nod gratefully and run out the doors
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
'Beep' 'beep' 'beep' 'beep' i go to stop my alarm but end up smashing it into pieces. I can hear May yell "again?!" from the kitchen. I smile. I haven't smiled in a long time
Its Saturday but i forgot to turn my alarm off last night. I'm visiting Morgan today. I Promised May, Happy and Myself that i would spend more time with her. I guess I want to give her what I never had after I lost my parents; someone who understands
After getting ready, I run out of the apartment building to a silver SUV waiting for me, back door open, Happy grinning happily... ironic
"Mr Parker, I was happy to see that you needed a ride to the Stark Residence"
"Yeah well, Morgan deserves someone in her life who understands" i say, climbing into the backseat
"Good to have the real Peter back"
'The real Peter' i guess i really haven't been myself since his death. I mean whatever the 'real' me is. I have been closed off and cold to people. I didn't really realize how much I had impacted people until I lost myself
We pull up to the log house, less managed but still beautiful. I get out of the car and hear the front door open
"Peter!" Morgan yells, running towards me. I pick her up into a hug
"What took you so long?"
"Happy is a slow driver" I whisper, she giggles
She jumps down and grabs my hand, leading me into the house
I receive i very dry and emotionless wave from Pepper before she retreats upstairs. and Morgan starts to show me all of her stuff
After a while the conversation drifts from her toys and hobbies, to her father
"Did you know my daddy was a superhero?" she asks, excitedly
"Yeah, I did. Did you know i'm a superhero?" her eyes widen
"Really?"
"Yeah, see?" I shoot my webs out the window and she squeals happily
"Wow! Did you fight bad guys with my daddy?"
"I sure did" she moves closer to me and turns her head slightly
"You know what Peter?"
"What?"
"You kinda look like the boy from the picture in my kitchen"
"I do?"
"Yeah! Daddy looked at the picture every night, whenever i asked who was in it he always said 'nobody you need to worry about' then he would put it back" she gets up from the floor and runs toward the kitchen
She comes back with a golden frame in her hands a heavy look on her face
"See... that's daddy and that's-"
"Me" I can feel tears force their way to my eyes, I refuse to cry, not here not now
I run my fingers over the photograph, it was the day I graduated as an 'intern' at Stark Industries. It was a ploy to trick Aunt May into thinking I was just a regular worker for him
"I remember that day" she looks up questioningly
"Please tell me"
"Okay. it was about a year ago. My uh... Aunt didn't know that i was Spider-Man"
"But did your mom and dad know?"
"Well, um no. my parents died when i was about your age"
"Oh. so you're like me?" I stare into her eyes, beautiful and glistening
"Yeah, I am"
"oh. could you finish the story?"
"Well, to trick my Aunt, your dad and I made a fake picture so she would think I was working"
"Oh"
"Yeah, your dad and I were so happy that day. Maybe the happiest ive ever seen him. He wore a genuine smile. Maybe he was proud. I mean he did put a lot of work into making me Avenger-worthy"
"He taught you to be an Avenger?!"
"He sure did!"
I pull her into my lap and she rests her head on my chest
"I wish daddy was here"
"Me too Morgan, me too"
*squeals uncontrollably* i cant wait to write more about Peter and Morgan! ughhh they are so cute together!!
