-Chapter Two-
I shifted my body farther away from Danielle so she wouldn't be able to see the screen of my iPhone.
I typed in a quick "Who the heck are you?" Before I pressed send. I waited eagerly for the anonymous texter to reply, but I didn't get a new message until at least ten minutes later. When my phone vibrated in my hands, I jumped, coming out of my thoughts.
"This isn't Kelly?" It read.
"Uh, no... But I still want to know who you are! Who are you!?"
"Never mind then. Bye, I guess."
What? You can't just do that!? Wait, yes you can.... But still! I wanted to know who this guy, or gir,l is!
"No, answer my question. Do I know you?"
"Do you know a Jake Carter?" I'm guessing it was a he, then.
"Uh, no..."
"Then, that answers your question ;)"
Don't wink at me! I don't even know you! "How did you get this number...?"
"My idiot of a friend gave me the wrong number, I guess." Jake replied.
"But explain to me this: Why in the world would your friend give you a number that is from Florida, when you live across the country?"
"I guess you're expecting a back-story now?"
Well, duh! Before I could even press the reply button, my phone vibrated again. "My friend and I used to live in Florida, and when we were younger, we met a girl named Kelly. She was our best friend, blah, blah. I just wanted to get in touch with her again."
Hmm... That makes a little sense. "You're weird."
"You don't even know me -.-" He replied.
"I don't care."
"Don't judge a book by a cover."
"Who said you were a book?" I pushed.
" -_- Bye."
"Whatever, I'm going to go watch The Big Bang Theory anyways. So bye!" I sighed, staring at my phone. Secretly, I was hoping that he would reply soon.
An hour later, he didn't. I guess that's what the meaning of 'bye' is, right? Oh well, it's not like I know him! The TV turned into background noise as my thoughts consumed me.
Why do I want him to text me back? Because I'm bored? Maybe.
My phone vibrated in my back pocket. Was it him? Retrieving my phone, I quickly turned it on. To my surprise, it was him. "You watch that show?"
"Yeah, got a problem with it?" Okay, that sounded really rude.
"No! I love that show! What episode are you watching?" he replied quickly.
It's funny, because I don't even know the answer to that question. It's not like I was paying attention. . . Looking up to the TV, I noticed that it was the episode when Leonard, Raj, and Howard go out to see a meteor shower. Once I had replied, I began to actually watch the show.
"I love that episode!" Jake replied after a few minutes. "Aw, its not on :("
"*It's. And I'm watching it on On Demand, smarty." Did that sound a little bit mean? I'm sure he wouldn't care.
"Well, then. And in fact, I am a 'smarty'. Straight A student, actually ;)"
"Stop winking at me!"
"I'm not, my phone is ;)"
"Okay, bye Jake!"
"Aw... ;("
"ARGH! Stop that! You're irritating."
"Then why are you texting me?"
Uh... Um... Am I supposed to have a good reason? Well, if I was, I don't have one. "Idk, why am I texting you?"
"I can't answer that." He replied. Well, duh.
"*Thinks really hard* I honestly have no idea."
"Well then, that's settled! I'm texting a stranger for no reason ;)"
"STOP WINKING AT ME!!" I grunted in frustration, but I couldn't help but smile. Ugh, what the heck?
"Why?"
Hmm... Because it's really annoying!? "Would you want to wink at another guy?"
"........." Ha! I knew he would be speechless! "You're not a guy, though."
"How do you know? I never told you if I was a guy or a girl." I stated simply.
"You're too obnoxious and girl-like to be a dude."
Did he just call me obnoxious?
I decided to copy his words."Don't judge a book by its cover."
"Who said you were a book?"
Narrowing my eyes at the screen of my cell phone, I typed a reply. "Shut it, mister."
"So you are a girl?"
"Duh."
"What's your name?"
"I'm not telling you. For all I know, you could be a stalker or something. . ."
"I'm not any of those.... (Muahaha) ..... ANYWAYS! What's your name?"
"Why do you want to know?" I mused.
"It's called curiosity. Plus, I told you my name, didn't I?"
"Whatever. It's Alexandria. But if you must, you can call me Alex."
"Okay :) Well, I have to go." He replied.
What? Why? "Where are you going?"
"Surfing."
"You know how to surf?"
"No, I don't know how to surf but I'm going surfing. ;) Of course I know how to."
"Okay, well bye, I guess."
"I'll talk to you later, Alex :)"
I didn't reply. Talk to me later...? What's that supposed to mean?
It means he'll talk to me later! Duh, what else? I smiled to myself.
Why? I have no idea.
