Book 1 Description:
Miss Peregrine discovered that her daughter, whom she initially believed to be a typical peculiar, was in fact not aware that Kira was just not only a peculiar but also a Ymbryne. This immense secret was concealed by Kira, the daughter of Miss Peregrine, who chose not to disclose it to anyone else.
Shortly after Miss Peregrine made the decision to embark on an expedition in search of uncontacted peculiars, her intention was to establish a peculiar children's home. This endeavor aimed to create a sense of belonging and acceptance for peculiars, providing them with a place where they could truly feel at home.
As a consequence, Kira was relocated under the care of another Ymbryne, specifically Miss Raven and Miss Crow. In due course, Kira unravels the truth that's been concealed beneath the dreadful lies her mother and caretakers had woven, now it's up to Kira to set things right.

"Sleep is not! Death is not! Who seem to die live! House you were born in! Friends of your springtime! Old man and young maid! Day's toil and its Guerdon! They are all vanishing! fleeing to fables! Cannot be moored" I found myself captivated by the distant tree, then turned my attention back to the imposing empty house right in front of me.

I am positive and certain that my mom is at home, sound asleep. If not, I would definitely be in big trouble for being out without supervision. Typical. Recently, she's been displaying a change in behavior, becoming slightly more stern, sensitive, and strict.
I have always lived with my mother and no one else, my father hasn't been in the picture and my mother refuses to even speak of him. Anyway, more about my mum. She literally thrives on routine and relies heavily on her trusted sidekick, time... As in the actual clock itself...
Our usual daily schedule usually plays out like this;
* 7 am - Wake up & get ready for the day.
* 8 am - Come downstairs & eat some breakfast.
* 9 am - Homeschooling
* 3pm - Homeschooling finishes & the beginning of relax time
* 4 pm - Mum leaves the house to find uncontacted peculiar.
* 8 pm - Mother returns.
* 9 pm - bed.
And repeat.
But this one particular day came and it changed EVERYTHING! It completely shifted my perspective on the world, my mother, and our circumstances.
It's really sad to see that whenever she comes back home, I can't shake off the feeling that our relationship, her affection, love, and care are slowly deteriorating. It reached a stage where she didn't even bother to have a conversation or even tuck me to bed.
I was 4.
In that very same week, my own mother essentially exiled me to a different place, treating me as if I didn't matter to her. She sent me to live with an Ymbryne who could nurture me as I grew older, among a group of peculiar children.
I was only given the explanation that she wasn't feeling very good, mentally and emotionally. She's been given a major job that will need her undivided attention, so she'll be away for an extended period. She didn't want me to grow up all by myself, with no one to watch over me and no one to care for me. She explained that she was just doing what she had to do for my own good. Her intention was for me to have a secure social life and not miss out on important development.
Touche, mum, touche.
Well, guess what, this is Kira speaking from the future and this is my insane story that flipped every Ymbyrne's world upside down. You see, I kept a secret from EVERYONE. I had my reasons. But safe to speak now, I'm half peculiar and half Ymbryne and also a very late bloomer :)
Now, let me tell you how it all started;

The atmosphere in Miss Raven's peculiar children's home was surprisingly calm and satisfactory. At first glance, the Ymbryne seemed eerie because of how she looked and dressed, but her true nature was gentle, loving, caring and filled with a motherly aura.
I just couldn't settle into this new place, I had a hard time getting used to a new caregiver, and I attempted to establish a routine but it just didn't click, I didn't really connect with any of the kids. All that I could think about was my mother and how I mainly felt unwanted.
No matter what, a piece of me was constantly imagining the day she would come back for me so I could return home and make it up to me... Even though it has been 10 years now, I still have my hopes and doubts.

Cannot be moored," I recounted a riddle that my mother had told me before, but what added an extra element of surprise was Miss Raven referencing it and turning it into a game.
As I glanced behind me, my eyes settled on the forest, where the unsettling house stood amidst its surroundings, a place we peculiars fondly labelled it as a "cosy home".
Despite its appearance, it was warm, welcoming, and giant on the inside.
Glancing back, I focused on a specific tree in front of me. Moving back at a leisurely pace, I paused and took a deep breath before releasing it.
I initiated my run with a sense of urgency as if my life was at stake. I propel myself forward, strategically timing my leap towards the tree I had singled out. Grasping the coarse bark firmly, I find a powerful and confident grip.
I began to climb up the branch extending away from the house, and once I was mentally prepared, I moved on to the next branch. I checked the time on my watch and it was 5:32 am.I gazed upwards and watched as the deep purple sky gradually brightened, causing the stars to fade away and the clouds to vanish until they were no longer visible.
"WHAT DOES IT MEAN?" I muttered to myself while I replayed the riddle over and over in my head, oddly enough, it was a good distraction from thinking about my mother. I mean, during our class yesterday, Miss Raven came up with a physical riddle puzzle sort of thing, it was something that was fun for her whole wards to do, to keep them occupied and prevent them from being bored and reckless. This riddle required solving skills which I can assure you that absolutely NON of us have, and being smart about following clues to locate a hidden object.
It was simple though. Solve the riddle and you get a prize in the end for your efforts.

Brodie Ross, After his parent tragically passed away from an illness, a young boy developed germophobia. Living alone in his house had always made him feel anxious, leading him to become overly cautious about cleanliness. As a result, he started placing disinfectant in every corner of his home to the point where it became a breathing hazard.
Brodie eventually began encountering ghosts and entities, initially feeling scared but eventually becoming accustomed to their presence after he found his parents. Brodie always made the most of the limited time he had with the ghost and other entities before they disappeared.
He was unable to physically embrace, give, or receive affection from his parents since they were spirits, but they never failed to communicate their love to him verbally. Brodie easily made friends with other ghosts and entities. Miss Raven came a week later and Brodie refused to leave his home until his parents assured him that they would always be with him.

It was quite easy for her to find a way out, and soon enough, the local police located Cassidy and promptly took her to the hospital for a thorough check-up. The next day, Miss Raven came to collect a sleeping Cassidy.

Fin Stevenson, the baby boy was quickly shunned by his family just one month after being born due to his peculiar ability that made them uncomfortable. It was a common sight to see Fin fixated on his mother and father, regardless of the hour. Fin's parent's believed he was possessed, but the truth was he was just reading their emotions.
With cruel intentions, Fin's family abandoned him deep within the forest, hoping that nature would take its course and rid them of their burden. However, fate intervened in a remarkable way. A pack of wolves, coincidentally passing through, embraced Fin as part of their family, raising him as their own cherished member.
At the age of 6, Miss Raven swooped Fin off his feet when he wasn't looking.
