It was around three am when Maeve quietly made her way into the Hale house, bundled up in her pyjamas and Derek's jumper. Focusing on not falling over and making a scene, Maeve tip toed upstairs, quietly opening Derek's bedroom door.

Maeve kicked off her shoes, calling over to Derek in a whisper, "Derek?"

Derek turned on his pillow, his eyes slowly fluttering open to see who had come in, but shut them again at Maeve's scent.

"Are you awake?" Maeve called over again, sliding down on the bed as Derek lifted his head up, brushing his messy hair from his eyes.

Maeve couldn't tell whether it was because she was nervous, or that she was excited, but all she knew was that she couldn't sleep until she was home, with Derek.

"No," Derek muttered sleepily, moving across to make room for Maeve, glancing over at the clock, "Isn't it bad luck to see the bride before the wedding?"

"Technically it's already our wedding day," Maeve shrugged, lying down beside him, smiling softly, "And I can't sleep."

Derek laughed quietly, resting his head on the top of hers as Maeve curled her arms around him, "You came across town just for a hug?"

Maeve grinned as Derek glanced down at her, "No?"

Maeve yawned, feeling tired for the first time in hours. Maeve didn't know how Derek brought her so much comfort, how all it took was his presence to make her feel so at ease.

Derek rolled his eyes tiredly kissing her before lying his head back on the pillow, "You're such a dork, Maeve."

"A dork you love," Maeve reminded him, lying her head on his chest, easily finding sleep now back in his arms.

If you'd told Maeve a year ago that she'd marry Derek Hale, she would've laughed in your face. But now, stood on the steps of the courthouse in a white dress and Derek at her side, Maeve couldn't imagine herself anywhere else.

Deciding on a small and simple wedding was something the couple both agreed early on, given the not so usual circumstances surrounding their relationship. A small gathering was what seemed right at this moment, and one day they would have the fairytale wedding Maeve fantasied about.

Maeve nervously tapped her rose gold heel on the cobblestone steps, the wind blowing her white silk skirt around her knees as she wrapped her arms under Derek's blazer, looking up to him with a smile.

Derek was strangely relaxed for a day like today, but that was just Derek for you. To him, there was no need to be nervous, he was marrying the love of his life, all he could be was happy.

Wanting this moment to be personal, relaxed and calm, there was only the witnesses attending whilst they said their vows. Maeve wanted to save the embarrassment of only having her mother in attendance out of all her family, especially with the not so acceptance of their relationship.

Deciding on the two witness' was a difficult job since everyone wanted to be there, but eventually settling on Peter, Derek's best man, and Laura, Maeve's maid of honour.

Peter and Laura walked out of the courthouse, dressed in a grey suit and a pink play suit that matched Maeve's flowers, Laura holding up the completed paperwork with a grin "Who wants to get married!"

_

Walking into the room, Maeve couldn't hold back her grin, excitedly squeezing the bouquet of pink roses. Derek's gaze didn't leave hers as she walked down the small aisle, completely enchanted by the girl he loved.

Maeve passed the bouquet of flowers to Laura, her future sister in law smiling knowingly at the couple. Peter helped Maeve step up onto the alter, nodding encouragingly at Derek.

The Officiant smiled at the couple before starting his speech, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Derek Seth Hale and Diana Maeve Argent."

Wrapping her hand around Derek's, Maeve felt at ease, she could've been in a room of one hundred instead of two and still all she'd be able to focus on was Derek.

"Before we begin," the officiator glanced over to Peter and Laura, "Should anyone here present know of any reason this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace."

Peter and Laura couldn't hold back their smiles, shaking their heads no. Maeve held back her laugh, but couldn't help but look up and over at the doors in worry that one of her family would come running in, stopping the wedding.

After a moment of silence, the officiator continued, looking to Derek first, "I believe you've prepared your vows."

Derek took a deep breath, squeezing Maeve's hand, "Maeve, since the moment you abruptly stumbled into my life, you've been my best friend, my light when all I saw was darkness, my soulmate. You saved me. It was impossible not to love you the first time I saw you, even when you were covered in mud and adamant that you wanted nothing to do with me."

"It was like you knew me better than anyone had before without even trying. Even with all my faults and mistakes, you never stopped loving me, you always fought my corner."

"Its a bit like a dream come true, you coming into my life, but I know there's nothing more real than the love I have for you."

Derek smiled at the tears pooling in Maeve's eyes, "Did that live up to your fairytale speech expectations?"

Maeve couldn't get her words out, smiling through her tears as she nodded her head, glancing over at the officiator as he motioned for her to go next, smiling at Derek's words for her.

"I've always wanted a love that one day our children will look at and think that we are made to be, that we are soulmates, and I know that I've found that with you."

"Despite everything happening around us, all the pain and tragedy that we've faced, you never failed to bring me happiness. You've given me a real family, a safe, a happy home. I'm the best version of myself when I'm with you."

"And I knew that you were the one for me since the moment I first saw you. I remember when we were dancing at Jamie's bar, you twirled me around and when I looked in your eyes I just knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you."

"The odds have always been up against us, but we've always fought back. When I think of home I think of you. I know I will love you forever, because you're my future, Derek Hale. And I love you, so much more than I thought I could ever love someone."

Derek gently wiped away one of Maeve's fallen tears, nodding up at the officiator, "Please repeat after me."

"...I, Derek Hale, Take you, Diana Argents to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward..."

Taking Derek's ring in one hand, Maeve couldn't help but laugh at her nervous shake, Derek's hand wrapped around her other instantly calming her down.

"... I, Diana Argent, take you, Derek Hale, to be my husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward..."

Maeve had never been overly fussed on the ring, it had always been about marrying Derek, but then Derek surprised her at the engagement, and she could say yet again she was surprised at the perfect silver band with small diamonds incrusted around it.

"For better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward, always and forever..."

Derek was as calm as ever, Maeve's hands excitedly squeezing his, "I do."

"I do," Maeve stated, unable to stop smiling as she stared lovingly at Derek.

"With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the Officiator smiled down at them both, "You now kiss your bride."

Derek's hands went to the sides of her face, gently bringing Maeve forward as he kissed her, Peter and Laura cheering from beside them.

Maeve wrapped her arms around his shoulders, smiling against his lips as he dipped her slightly before bringing her back closer. Before Derek would've cared about what people around them thought of them, but now, this was his wife, he was going to kiss her and he wasn't going to regret it one bit.

_

Cheers erupted around Jamie's bar as Derek and Maeve walked through the doors hand in hand, looking to each other with a smile as their friends and family threw pastel confetti over them as they walked in.

The bar had been obviously decorated by anyone but Jamie and his dad, behind the bar Cass smiled, knowing the bar was perfect for the couple.

Fairy lights decorated the ceiling, drooping down at the sides of the room. The wooden tables had been pushed back to the sides, lace covering the tops, petals scattered across them.

The room was warmly lit now the day had turned to the evening, small glowing lanterns helped light up the room from the tables.

It was hard for Maeve not to be overwhelmed by all the love and support surrounding them, Derek's family and friends clapping and cheering for them, Jamie's unmissable voice booming through the speakers from the microphone he never seemed to put down.

It didn't take long for the party to be in full swing, the Hales had been known for partying and this night definitely proved it. The dance floor had almost everyone on their feet, aside from Derek's youngest cousin who decided to throw a tantrum over the music choice.

Too engulfed with celebrating and their blissful happiness, Maeve and Derek barley noticed the time passing by.

Derek and Maeves first dance intended to be the romantic, slow song moment, but in typical non traditional style, the guests danced around them to the upbeat song playing through the speakers.

Maeve laughed happily as Derek spun her around, his hand resting on her back as he slowly dipped her down, bringing her back up to a kiss.

The couple laughed as another round of cheers sounded from around them, Maeve cheeks were almost as red as her lipstick, hiding her face in Derek's chest as she blushed, the sudden attention on them sometimes taking her by surprise.

Grumpy, glaring and sarcastic Derek Hale's smile hadn't left his face since the moment he left the house this morning, his future wife almost falling face first as they walked down the steps of his house, catching her before she caused any damage.

Derek was never a fan of getting all the attention either, even as the star player on the basketball team, but today all of those thoughts were meaningless, his family's happiness for him brought comfort.

Derek waved goodbye to his wife as his younger siblings took her hands, dragging her off to dance with them.

Derek fondly watched Maeve dance with Cora and Dean, barley noticing Kieran join him, throwing his arm over his shoulders, "Congrats brother, never would've pegged you for being the first to get married."

Derek rolled his eyes, raising a brow at the human, "What? Thought you would?"

Kieran scoffed, "Hell no, no woman has yet to sweep me off my feet."

Kieran was notorious with the ladies from what Derek remembered growing up, but unluckily for Kieran, that gift never extended to committed relationships.

Talia stepped between her sons, happily hugging the both of them, "I hope you're being nice to your brother, Kieran."

"I'm always nice to our little baby Derek," Kieran teased, winking at Derek as he let out a huff of annoyance.

"Ignore your brother, sweetheart, we're all so incredibly happy for you," Talia smiled.

Talia was never afraid to point out her reservations about Maeve and Derek's relationship, but as much as the doubts haunted her, Talia knew just how happy Maeve made her son, and that was something she couldn't make Derek let go of.

Derek glanced down at her, "You really mean that?"

Talia nodded, patting his arm, "Don't be silly, Derek, of course we do! I still think you're young but I'll get over it, you and Maeve are made for each other."

By the time it came to eat, most people were indulging on the cupcakes Elizabeth happily made. The ex hunter had felt out of place at first, but like Jamie, she had easily made herself the life of the party. Between happy tears, she was dancing the night away.

Derek rolled his eyes as he looked away from his wife, noticing his best friend, like always, was making his way into the stage, a microphone in one hand and a beer bottle in the other.

The rooms attention fell on Jamie as he awkwardly tapped the microphone, waving at the party, "Hi everyone! I know Maeve and Derek were pretty strict on the no speeches rule, but I couldn't help myself."

Derek let out a sigh, Maeve laughed leaning her head on his shoulder as Jamie began his speech, "Yes, Derek, I can see you glaring at me! So, I didn't prepare a speech because, well, I wasn't supposed to- Instead I'll just fill you in on a few of my favourite moments from the happy couple."

"When Maeve first joined our school, even if she refuses to believe it, she gained the attention of probably half of the Male population. Derek was not happy about this, and had apparently called dibs on Maeve before Archie and I even had the chance to meet her!"

Jamie took a sip of his drink before rambling on again, "Derek has been my best friend since sophomore year, and then Maeve came along and now she's my best friend too- Your wife stole your bestie, Derek!"

The room laughed as Jamie entertained them without even trying, because that was just Jamie for you, always full of surprises.

"Aside from gaining another best friend, I had the pleasure of watching Maeve bring Derek so much happiness over these months. You fixed my best friend when he needed it, you made him a more tolerable person, you even made him smile more in a month than I had seen him smile in a year - so, for that, I thank you Maeve."

The day had made Maeve an emotional wreck, tears had constantly been glowing  much to Laura's dismay, who had to re-do Maeve's makeup every time Maeve got a little too emotional, which was now becoming frequent.

"I hate to break it to you both, but you're insufferable at times! Well, Derek, you sister thinks the both of you have been unbearably adorable since you both met."

"Liar!" Laura shouted out in protest from somewhere in the crowds.

Jamie looked past the lights shining down on him, waving with a grin at her, "Oh, that's my sweet girlfriend Laura, isn't she lovely?"

"But honestly, these two are like the couples you see in fairytales, and I can't wait to see what the next chapter holds for you both," Jamie smiled at the crowd once more as they clapped for his impromptu speech, making his way off the stage where Maeve ran over to give him a hug.

"You didn't have to do that," Maeve muttered, her voice croaky from her happy tears.

Jamie laughed at the state of her, "I'll take that as a thank you."

"Ugh, I love you, you idiot," Maeve reminded him as Jamie led her back through the crowds to find Derek.

"I love you too, Mrs Hale, now off to your husband."

Maeve put her drink down on the table, rushing over to the door where Chris awkwardly waited, smiling as Maeve pulled him into a hug, "Uncle Chris, you're here!"

Pulling Chris outside of the bar before he fainted of further tension from the glares sent his way, the two of them stood a little way across from the bar doors.

"I wanted to tell you, that I'm really proud of you," Chris began, "I know it may not seem like it at times, but I'm happy for you, Diana."

It had been a few days since the ordeal back at the Argent house and Maeve hadn't seen Chris, hoping that he didn't hate her like the rest of their family.

Maeve felt more tears, but quickly blinked them back before Laura shouted at her for ruining her mascara again, "Thank you, Uncle Chris."

Chris frowned in confusion, "For what?"

"You're the closing thing I've ever had to a father, and I want you to know that I'm so grateful for everything you've done," Maeve admitted.

As much as Maeve wanted her wedding day to be a family affair, with her father walking her down the isle, she knew that was impossible. Reason being her father was most likely imaginary after all this time and her family hated her.  But having Chris there, even if it was for five minutes, filled that gap in her heart.

"I'll always be there for you," Chris reminded his niece, "No matter what trouble you get yourself in."

The bouquet toss was one tradition that Laura and Cora refused to let Maeve get rid of, so now Maeve stood in the middle of the dance floor, the unmarried ladies of the room crowded around her, the men watching in amusement from the sidelines.

"Okay, are you ladies ready?" Maeve looked over her shoulder to where the ladies where waiting, smiling as she shut her her eyes, turning back around to lift the flowers above her head, "One...Two......three!"

For almost nearly all werewolves, the fight for the bouquet was surprisingly not lethal, and the even bigger surprise was her human, tipsy mother emerging from the middle of the crowd, waving the flowers in the air like a trophy.

"Mom!" Maeve burst into laughter, leaning over as Elizabeth stumbled over, happily hugging her daughter, "Don't you go run off and elope without telling me."

Elizabeth twirled the bouquet in her hand, winking at Maeve as she set off back to the party. Derek came up behind Maeve, wrapping his arms around her as they watched the party go into the night.

As the night grew quiet, it was past midnight by the time the guests began to file out of the bar, leaving only a few behind. Most of Derek's family had decided to crash at his house, starting up their own after party without the happy couple. Archie being the angel he is stayed to help Jamie's parents clear up, whilst Laura and Jamie had snook off.

Elizabeth hugged her daughter once more, reaching over to hug Derek too, his wife laughed at his sudden surprise, smiling up at him.

"I love you both!" Elizabeth wept, pulling away from them both to wipe her eyes "My little girl! All grown up-"

Elizabeth had handled the day surprisingly well, like mother like daughter, the both of them had been in bursts of tears throughout the day. Her only child was now grown up, married, it was an all too familiar feeling for Elizabeth, but she pushed her own feelings aside to focus on making her daughter have the happiest day.

Maeve looked to her mother in embarrassment, shaking her head quickly "Mom, can we not-"

"Fine! Fine!" Elizabeth sighed defeatedly, making her way to the wooden door "Have a lovely night, I'll see you both in a few days!"

Maeve watched her mother stumble out of the door with a laugh, Derek stood behind her with his arms wrapped over her shoulders "Let's hope she doesn't try to walk home."

With the final guests now heading towards the door, Maeve waved goodbye before turning around, curling her hands around his waist, smiling up at Derek, "I love you."

"I love you too," Derek mumbled, pushing a curled strand of hair behind her ear, spinning them slightly to the music as he reached down to kiss her.

_

Sitting on the bench outside of the bar, Maeve took a deep breath, gazing up at the moon shining brightly, the neon bar sign lighting up the pavement around her.

Derek picked the short straw in the argument to go and try and find Jamie and Laura, dragging an unwilling Archie with him. Maeve was thankful she didn't have to go, the fresh air helping the sudden sickness she felt, taking it as the anxiety from the day finally hitting her, the moon at its fullest as midnight ticked by.

Leaning her head back on the bricks, Maeve lifted her hand slightly to gaze at the sparkly ring on her finger, a smile tugging on her lips.

"Oh, Diana, you don't look so good..." Maeve froze at the voice, hesitantly turning to find Kate stood down the street, arms crossed as she smirked.

"Oh my god," Maeve whispered, blinking in surprise.

Maeve knew this day was too good to be true, with luck like theirs, there was always something bound to go wrong. The couple had done everything to make sure this didn't happen, but sometimes that just wasn't enough.

Maeve stood up to leave, backing towards the door, ready to shout for Derek, but her eyes zoned in on ones of Kate's hunters gun pointed right at her head.

"Ah ah ah," Kate hummed, walking up the pavement, "Can't have you running off this time, can we? Mrs Hale?"

With the gun aimed at her head, she couldn't move, knowing there was no where to run. Maeve knew she couldn't get out of this, this was the end.

As if the wedding dress wasn't obvious enough, those words finally made Maeve realise how much of trouble she was actually in. And for the first time since she turned into a werewolf, Maeve was truly afraid.

Being knocked out on the journey to wherever Kate was taking her was one thing, but being woken up to her back slamming against the moving doors of the van they were in, was another.

Wolfsbane ropes burned at her wrists, a gag in her mouth ripping at the skin. Maeve weakly looked up from the car floor, finding Kate stood at the end of the van, leaning against the wall.

"What are you?" Kate spat venomously, already knowing the answer, ripping the gag from Maeves mouth, "Go on, Diana, tell me. What are you!"

Maeve's body didn't move, cowering weakly on the floor of the van, a shaky whisper escaping her lips, "A werewolf."

Those words leaving her mouth was like a burden leaving her chest, though now in more danger, Maeve was strangely relived for it to no longer be a secret.

"No," Kate crouched down in front of Maeve, her knife trailing up Maeve's weak arm, "You're a monster."

Blood dripped down onto her dress, her perfectly curled hair had descended into a curly mess, mascara staining her cheeks.

"Say it," Kate ordered, harshly lifting Maeve's chin as she was met with silence,  "Say it!"

Maeve gulped, the wolfsbane in her system making her dizzy, "...no."

Kate's eyes lit with fury, her hand wrapping around Maeve's throat, the ropes on her wrists leaving Maeve defenceless "What are you?"

Maeve gasped between breaths as she struggled to breath, tears blurring her vision, "...a... monster..."

Maeve's dress was crystal white, not a speck of dirt could be seen, but now, her dress was stained with red. But none of that mattered to Maeve, because in that moment, all she could think about was being genuinely scared for her life.

Maeve howled in pain as Kate dragged the obviously poison coated knife across her chest, digging down past the skin, blood immediately pooling on Maeve's chest. smugly looking at the state of her niece "Good luck surviving that."

Kate stepped back towards the doors of the van, "I have of my guys watching Derek right now."

The mention of Derek brought on a sudden anger, a fear for his safety, knowing she needed to protect him, not matter what happens.

"No," Maeve's head shot up at the mention of her husband, staring at her aunt pleadingly, "Kate please, no!"

Kate reached into her jacket, waving her phone, a number already dialled, "One phone call and he won't live long enough to see a married day. That's all it takes, Maeve."

Maeve's gaze didn't leave the phone as Kate's finger hovered over the call button, crying out as she went to press call, "Kate stop!"

"Scared, little Maeve?" Kate teased, knowing she had riled up the teen, "Don't worry about Derek, I have other plans in mind."

The doors to the van opened, but in Maeve's blurred vision, she couldn't see what awaited her behind Kate. Her senses had been thrown with all the wolfsbane in her system, trying to push herself up to see as Kate walked out of the van, Maeve was only met with darkness, falling back against the cold floor of the van.

Hi everyone!

Derek and Maeve are married!!!

In all my five years of writing I'm surprised to say this was my first wedding, so I can't say it was perfection, nonetheless I hope you enjoyed

All I'm saying about next chapter is that it's going to get hot, and not in the way you'd like...

....Can't say I have warned you all

For such a disorganised mess, I'd say Jamie did his speech very well
