13 "Girls" night

93.8K 2.1K 4K
By thegirlwithalife

The one thing I've never done in my life is a girls night. Alex and I are usually surrounded by many people, but we never had a certain group of friends, mostly because we find the girls there annoying. So now that I'm sitting in this circle with my cousin, Jessica and Sarah, it feels weird and I have a feeling that many information will be spilled tonight.

"I got candy, snacks and pizza. I couldn't wait to sit down and feel like a woman again." Hailey says as she crosses her legs and grabs a bowl of popcorn.

"I can't wait to tell you this." Jessica spreads her arms and I raise my eyebrows, sensing the gossip.

"Oh, yeah, Dave's girl, spill." Sarah positions herself so that she's comfortable and looks at Jessica in anticipation.

"So Mark told me that she started flirting with Dave and was really going for it, but you know Dave and how shy he gets when somebody gets close to him. So he was like, this has to go slow. But as soon as they hooked up, she literally starts ignoring him. And the poor guy had no idea what to do, he was so confused." She says and I can see the sympathy on her face as she speaks. "And then the dumbass idiot that Dylan is, he brings her over and pretends like he's gonna bang her. And no wonder, Dave is not speaking to him right now. I mean, he was joking, but come on, you don't have to be such a douche."

"She's a bitch. I told Dave that, but he didn't beileve me." Sarah grabs a slice of pizza.

"I don't know what's more worrying, Dave's state of mind or Dylan's way of joking around." Hailey says.

"It's awful. I wanted to hug him yesterday, but Mel told me it's better not to mention it." Jessica states.

"The sad thing is, that happened to me way too many times." My cousin mentiones.

"Same." Jessica agrees with her.

"I just wish people would be straightforward about what they want. It's not really a joke to fuck around with others." Sarah says. I don't know much about her, but it seems like she's a fair and understanding person. I can tell why Carter wants her back, and why he was with her in fhe first place.

"Yeah." Hailey stalls. "But I can tell you, when you know what you want, a one time, it's not that easy to get a good guy."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, before I met Luke, I was like that girl pretty much. I wanted fun and nothing more. And in those moments, you really don't care about other's feelings, as bad as it sounds." She replies, looking partly ashamed. I remember her period, and every story she would provide me with at that time.

"Kat was always against it." She looks at me and smiles. "She never forced me to stop, but I remember her constant words, 'that was a bad idea', 'do you know how he's feeling now', 'imagine if someone did that to you'. Eventually I stopped, focused on myself and my dreams. That's how I got into Arts School and found out about the camp. And that's how I met Luke, the person whose feelings I actually respected."

I smile brightly at my cousin, who is now burning red, but the happiness in her eyes is evident and undeniable.

"Lucky ass." Jessica chuckles. "I wish everyone could be as lucky as you."

"But the whole point is to have patience. You only get this kind of love once, and to everyone, it comes at a different time in life. Don't worry, Jess, it'll come." Hailey pats her friend, who doesn't really look convinced.

"Sure, yeah. When I become Angelina Jolie."

Sarah giggles at her and clears her throat, as if wanting to say something.

"Kat, you're single?" She asks me and I turn my head to face her. I didn't expect a question to be aimed at me.

"Yeah." I answer simply.

"Nice." Sarah shows her teeth. "Then you need to have as much fun as you can during this summer. Grab a guy you like and we'll make it shine."

I laugh out loud and shake my head.

"Nah, I don't have the patience for guys. Not until I meet one with a decent mind."

"Hardly." Hailey exclaims, pulling a weird face expression. "Even the taken ones and the married ones don't have a normal mind, trust me."

"They stay the same their entire life, having a mind of a 16 year old." Jessica comments and grabs her glass.

The door opens harshly, revealing the figures of those 16 year olds we were just talking about.

"What's up, girlies?" Carter squeals and runs to sit in our circle, making sure to elbow me in the ribs in the process.

"What the hell are you doing inside? Look at the sun outside." Wes exaggerates and spreads his hand towards the window.

"Good job, Wes. That's one point. Now point to the cloud." I roll my eyes. Wes moves to sit down, next to me if I may add, and turns to face me. Luke and Mel follow after him, continuing to widen our circle.

"Why are you dressed like a nun?" Wes asks me with a smirk and I can't help but glare at him intensely. He know specifically why I have pulled my robe so high up my neck, and he still dares to comment.

"She just got out of the shower." Sarah answers.

"Guess there's nothing underneath then." I hear Wes mumble.

My cousin's facial expression changes, from a very confused one to a very alarmed one, kind of mimicking mine. I catch her eyes and I can see the questions in her head. Luckily, nobody else seems to notice, as they're all rolling their eyes at Wes's comment.

"Maybe you could check." Mel says and starts to laugh at his own joke, while Jessica hits him in the stomach. He doesn't even flinch, and continues to wiggle his eyebrows at me.

"That's what I was telling you about." Jess looks at me and shakes her head.

"What?" Mel asks, but she doesn't answer him. "What were you talking about?"

"Are you guys high?" Hailey asks and then comes closer to Luke, whose eyes just follow her without any movement of his body.

"You are!" She exclaims and I hear Sarah groan.

"No wonder he's in a good mood." Jessica looks at Mel, who only smirks back at her.

"I'm always in a good mood, babygirl." He winks.

"So, we're bored." Carter says, leaning back on his palms. His sunglasses are in place and he chews his gum really loudly, something I've already noticed before. He doesn't open his mouth widely, but you can hear the chewing.

I turn to Wes, who's picking on the carpet floor.

"Are you high?"

He shakes his head in response, which honestly leaves me in shock. He looks up at the others, who are starting their own conversations before turning his head to look at me.

"I'm the one that's supposed to take care of them." He points to the boys. "But I got tired so I decided to bring them to their girlfriends."

He then leans in closer and his eyes sparkle mischievously.

"Plus, I wanted to see you and your hickeys."

I instantly look around to see if anyone's heard or noticed. He didn't say that very quietly, but luckily, nobody's even looking our way.

"You have to stop, Wes, seriously." I say dead serious, but unfortunately, he forms a wicked smirk and from the corner of my eye, I see his arm sliding behind my back.

"Why?" He asks, grabbing my waist and pulling me into him. I see the girls taking care of the boys and they don't pay attention to us. "You sure didn't object yesterday."

I really didn't, and now I'm angry at myself because of that. I want to say something, but I'm glad I don't get the chance to, because Jessica interrupts everyone.

"Movies! Let's go to the movies!"

-

After a whole hour of convincing others to come and another hour of debating on the genre of the movie, we were finally in town, in front of the tall building decorated with plenty of lights. I couldn't beileve when they told me that in the years they've been coming to this resort, they've never been to the movies here. But their defense was the age they were, and the obvious parties and enjoying they were having.

We decided on a thriller, and I don't even know it's name. I was ready for a full on comedy so I can laugh my ass off, but I was in the minority so I couldn't fight them on it. Halfway through it and I still have no idea what's it about, mostly because I don't find it interesting, but also because a certain somebody is being more than annoying tonight.

"Can you pass me some?" Wes nudges me on the shoulder for the billionth time.

"Ugh. Why didn't you get your own?" I groan.

"Please, babe."

"Stop." I whisper and place the popcorn in his lap. I see his childish smile as he digs his hand into my popcorn. He already ate half of it, why not just reach the bottom?

"It's good." He comments after a while, still munching on my food. It's a good thing he got his own drink because I sure as hell wouldn't share that with him.

"The movie or my popcorn?"

"Both. But I was talking about the movie." He says, fully interested in whatever is going on on the big screen.

"It's dumb." I furrow my brows and sink in my seat.

"You don't like it?"

"No, I said it's dumb because I was feeling like saying that." I retort and hear him scoff beside me.

"Someone's cranky."

"The movie's making me feel that way." I cross my hands over my chest and stare at the nonsense that is playing in front of me.

"Alright then." Wes says and removes the popcorn from his lap, transferring it down on the floor.

"Why did you put it down?" I whine, trying not to be so loud. We've already gotten a few looks and I will start feeling embarrassed if someone else looks this way again. If only Hailey was next to me so she could shut me up. But she is a couple seats away from us, considering we didn't have reserved seats so we had to take what was left.

"I need my hands." Wes answers my question, leaning back in his seat.

"Why?"

My question is not answered, but I find out the answer quickly enough, when Wes places his hand on my thigh.

"What are you -"

"Hey." He warns and looks at me. "Just relax."

I know he can sense my skin tingling as he starts to gently rub my thigh. It really does calm me down, but that is not what's on my mind.

What flashes through my mind are the questions of how did I get on this level with Wes Blue. I look at the blue eyed boy to see that his attention is on the movie. I don't usually pay much attention to his looks, because they usually distract me from whichever fight we're having, but now I can see just how soft his skin is and how his hair casually falls over his eyebrow. He was never the one to style it, but I personally think it looks better this messy way. He has a sharp jawline and his tattoo is making him look really badass. I know he has other tattoos, but this one, the one that has a part of me, always catches my eye.

He turns his head and locks eyes with me, without a smirk, like he's scanning me. Then he squeezes my thigh and as much as it feels weird, I don't object. I know it's wrong and I know I should react differently, but he captures me with his gaze and I don't know what to do.

"You better now?" He asks silently, directing the question at me. I only nod and he nods back, removing his hand, which instantly makes me pout. I quickly pull my face back to normal before he can notice and face the large screen, which just then starts showing credits.

Wes stands up, taking his drink with him, before offering me a hand. I am so beyond confused with his behavior lately that I literally stare at him for a couple of seconds.

"You coming or am I eating the popcorn alone?" He raises an eyebrow and bends down to pick up the popcorn he had previously left on the floor.

I stand up quickly and grab it from his hands while making a step to circle around him. He snakes his hands around my waist and nuzzles his head in my neck.

"I don't think it's smart for you to walk in front of me." He mutters in my ear and I shiver.

"Stop." I move away from his grasp just as I see Carter and Sarah walking down the steps.

"Stop." I hear him mimick me in an awfully bad tone behind me so I start walking towards the two.
