Pen scratching gainst the page
words whipping in her mind
letters bleeding into the page
as a way to be safe instead
skin full of old scars
tears dried up in her eyes
instead of inflicting pain
she writes her pain away
making her feel so much better instead
hope that others will see
she is as strong as one can be
poetry as a saving grace
writing as a way to stay
she learns that she will survive
in the world full of uncountless pain
