Cry Baby tossed and turned.
She couldn't fall asleep.
She just wanted to shut her eyes for a while.
She was on the side that made her face Blurryface.
She looked at him and saw that he wasn't sleeping either.
His eyes were looking at the ceiling.

"Can't sleep?"
Cry Baby says.
Blurryface looks over at her.
"No."
His eyes go back to the ceiling.
"What's wrong?"
She asks.
Blurryface rubs his temple.
She could hear him sigh.
"I don't know."
He grinds his teeth.
"You can tell me if you want."
Cry Baby scoots closer to him.
"I'm just lost."
He tells her.
His head turns to her.
"How're you lost?"
Cry Baby finds his hand under the covers and holds it.

"I don't know who I am anymore."

Cry Baby frowns at his sad words.

"I know what you're talking about."

Blurryface looks into her eyes.

"How?"

"I know you aren't just this Blurryface you say you are."

Blurryface narrows his eyebrows in confusion.

"How do you know?"

"I had a dream."

"Tell me about it, please."

"You told me your real name. It's Tyler. You say your name is Blurryface because that's how you personalize your insecurities."

Blurryface doesn't respond.
He just looks around the room in shock.
That Cry Baby would actually know that.

"But it's okay. My real name isn't Cry Baby."

Their eyes meet again.

"What is it?"
He asks.

"It's Melanie."

Blurryface nods and licks his dry lips.

"I like that name a lot, actually."

"Tyler is definitely a better name than Melanie."

"They're totally different."

"I know."

Cry Baby giggled.

"Just be who you want to be. I'll still love you."

They stopped talking and closed their eyes.
They both snuggled up with each other.
All of their problems were swooped away.
They felt safe with each other.
Blurryface held Cry Baby close to his chest.
He couldn't tell if it was love.
But he wanted to stay with her forever.
To take care of her.

Cry Baby and all of the other kids that went to her school had to transfer to a new one.
The rules were more strict.
You had assigned seats at lunch.
Assigned seats in every class.
You wore special uniforms.
Girls always had to wear ponytails if their hair was long.
The windows had bars on them.
Desks were nailed into the floor.
If you interrupted anyone at the wrong time, you'd be given detention.
If you are somewhere in the school you aren't supposed to be in, you get detention.
The rules were stressful.
Very.
If you were caught bullying someone you'd be suspended from school for a whole week.
The school literally wants you to be "perfect".

Cry Baby tucked her shirt in her skirt.
Different and some familiar kids walked by her.
Her backpack was slumped over her shoulder.
She looked the same to every girl since they all had to wear a uniform.
The boys wore a white short-sleeve shirt with black dress pants.
It didn't matter what shoes you wore as long as they were for running.

"Hello."
Someone said behind Cry Baby.
They walked by her side.
It was a girl with dark brown hair and blue eyes.
"H-hey."
Cry Baby says back.
"I'm guessing you are new here. Do you know where you are going for classes?"
The girl asks.
"N-not really."
Cry Baby pulls out her schedule.
The girl grabs her schedule and looks at all of her classes.
"Your first period is gym. The gymnasium is right behind you—"
She points down the hall behind them.
"Down the hall."
Cry Baby nods.
"Second period is history. Come here, let me show you where it is."
The girl started walking into a random hall and came upon three doors. One said "math" another said "foreign language" and "history".
"Here's your history class! Warning, the teacher's a little mean."
She says.
The random girl who Cry Baby thought was nice showed her the rest of her classes.
She asked her what her name was and she said it was Jessica.

Jessica and Cry Baby became friends with each other.
They had the same interests.
Their style was the same.
They liked the same music.
They both had the same homeroom together so they could chat longer.

"Favorite color?"
Jessica asked.
"Pink. Pink like you see in the sky when the sunsets."
Which is what Cry Baby told Blurryface.
"Mines green."
She smiled.
"Do you have a crush on any of the new boys you've seen?"
Jessica nudges Cry Baby's shoulder.
Cry Baby knew her crush and it definitely wasn't any of the new boys she'd seen.
"Actually... I have had a crush on this one boy at my old school."
She can't help but smile as she thinks about him.
"Ooh, who's he?"
Jessica laughs.
"People call him Blurryface."
Jessica cries out at his name.
"Blurryface?"
Cry Baby looks down.
"Yeah, I wouldn't make fun of it, though."
Jessica stops laughing.
"Why?"
She asks.
"It just means something to him."
Cry Baby says.
"Oh, I'm sorry."
Jessica looks down.

Suddenly, a group of boys walk into the class and talk loudly.
Another boy walks in behind them.
Cry Baby's heart fluttered as she saw him.
He looked so cute in his white short-sleeved shirt.
It showed off his arms well.
His pants were just short enough to show his ankles.
He wore red socks.

"Is that Blurryface?"
Jessica whispers.
"Y-yeah."
Cry Baby got out of her desk and walked towards him.
His eyes saw her.
His eyes widened and his eyebrows lifted a little.
A little smile crept on his face.
"Hi."
Cry baby smiled.
"Hello."
Blurryface grabbed her hand.
"Oooh, are you guys... dating?"
A random jerk said.
"Shut up, loser. You've been suspended at least ten times."
Jessica said.
"Thirteen times, actually."
The group of boys laughed.
"Find a new hobby, dickhead."
Blurryface says.
"The little boy actually said something!"
A boy with black hair said.
Blurryface rolled his eyes and walked out of the room with Cry Baby.
"They already don't like us."
Cry Baby said.
"We didn't even do anything."
Blurryface sighs.
"They're just looking for trouble. Ignore them."
Cry Baby gets on her tippy toes and kisses his cheek.
Blurryface blushes and smiles at Cry Baby.

"Ugh, relationship goals! You guys are cute!"
Two girls with red hair said.
Cry Baby and Blurryface look at them.
"We aren't dating."
Blurryface says.
"Are you sure? Y'all are cute."
The shorter girl says.
"I'm Tiana. I like emo stuff. I'm all about the gay stuff."
She holds out her hand and Blurryface shakes it.
"I like your shoes."
Cry Baby says to Tiana.
"Thanks! Oh, and this is Rebecca."
Tiana points to Rebecca.
"Hey, I'm pretty shy. Don't mind me."
She says.
"Hey."
Cry Baby and Blurryface say at the same time.
"This school sucks. The fact that we get assigned seats means you are forced to make friends. Or be a loner."
Tiana says.
"We don't even know where we sit."
Cry Baby says.
"You guys are the lucky ones. Kids that came from the Harper's Valley school get to sit at their own tables. Of course, your seats still get assigned."
Cry Baby thought maybe she'd be able to sit by Blurryface.
She didn't want to get her hopes up, though.
There are now close to a thousand students in this school.
At least it's a pretty big school.
There are three floors.
Luckily, only Cry Baby has to worry about one floor for her classes.

"The bells going to ring soon. Y'all should get going."
They all said their goodbyes.
Cry Baby and Blurryface went back into their homeroom and sat down in their newly assigned seats.
They were on total opposites of the room.
At least homeroom was only fifteen minutes.
Unlike other classes, which are forty-five to fifty minutes long.

The rest of the day was pretty slow for Cry Baby.
She knew no one.
Not including those from her school.
What really scared Cry Baby was lunch then recess.
She was surprised this school even let you have recess.
She was scared about where she was going to sit at lunch.
She could end up sitting by the worst people ever.
Her whole school hated her.
She has lost hope in people.
Even herself.
The only people she knows and trusts is Blurryface and Josh.
She may not be close to Josh but she can tell that he is a pretty cool guy.
He'd never do anything rude to her.
She was bummed out that Josh didn't go to her school or this new one.

The bell rang for lunch and kids all bunched up in the halls.
Pushing and pulling kids.
Yelling.
Some even got trampled over.
Cry Baby could not see above many people because she was so short.
She was getting a little claustrophobic in the tight hall.
She just wanted to get out of there.

"Cry Baby!"
Someone called from behind her.
She turned her head a little and saw Blurryface pushing through people.
"It's crazy here."
Her quiet voice said.
"Yeah. I'm not sure if I like it."
Blurryface says.
They finally got out of the cramped hall and got in line to get their lunch.
They were serving lots of things today.
You could either get a turkey sandwich with cheese or just a jelly sandwich cause of peanut butter allergies.
Cry Baby took the jelly sandwich.
She placed it in the bigger space on her red tray.
There were other lines where you could get side dishes.
That included a little bowl of salad.
An apple, a banana, grapes, oranges, pears.
All types of fruit.
You could also get vegetables.
Cry Baby hated vegetables because they made her sad.
They also served cheese sticks, crackers, soup.
It was way fancier than Cry Baby's other school.

Teacher's stood in the lunchroom.
They guided the students where they were supposed to sit.
Cry Baby really wanted to sit by Blurryface.
She walked up to a teacher and they told her where to sit.
It was at the end of the table.
Another girl sat there beside her.
Cry Baby recognized her but never talked to her.
Cry Baby realized that all girls sat on one side and all boys sat on another.
Blurryface sat only two boys away from her.
She could still talk to him.
They didn't talk at all to each other since they were too nervous.
Blurryface hated everyone's guts from the old school.
He was so surprised when Cry Baby came up to him in the library.

"Are you Cry Baby?"
Asked the girl who sat next to her.
"Yeah."
Cry Baby answered.
The girl had blonde hair and green eyes.
She looked nice.
"I've heard people always talking about you... not in a good way. You don't seem bad."
She says.
"I'm used to it."
Cry Baby eats her jelly sandwich.
"I just feel really bad for you. Are you okay?"
Cry Baby feels surprised by how nice this girl is treating her.
"Yeah, I'm f-fine."
The blonde girl nods and starts eating her food.

Cry Baby looked over at Blurryface who was just picking at his salad with a fork.
She awkwardly looked away and continued eating.

Everyone lined up to dump their food into a garbage can.
It took longer than expected.
That meant recess got cut shorter.
Which was good for Cry Baby.
Once she finished putting her tray away, she walked out the doors.
It was a sunny day.
She didn't go for the playground.
She went for a little garden that was out in the football fields.
There were rocks and a little pond.
Benches were lined up along the rocks.
It was beautiful.
She wanted Blurryface to see.
She didn't have to go get him because he was already behind her.
It kind of scared her but she got used to it right away.

"This is so pretty."
Cry Baby kneeled down to touch the rocks.
"We would have never had anything like this at our old school."
Blurryface kneeled down next to her.
Cry Baby picked up a really pretty rock.
It looked polished.
None of the other rocks were polished.
It had a white glow to it.
It fit in her palm perfectly.

"Why's this one so perfect out of all the other ones?"
Cry Baby asked.
Blurryface looked at the rock that was in her hand.
They both had to squint their eyes since the sun was very bright.
"It's just unique, I guess."
Blurryface said.
"The odd one out."
Cry Baby whispered.

Blurryface suddenly started coughing.
It freaked Cry Baby out.
She jumped up on her feet and backed up.
She realized that it was just from his poor lungs.
Cry Baby watched him take out his inhaler and breathe in the medicine.
Then his shaky hands put the inhaler back in his pocket.

"Sorry."
He told Cry Baby.
"N-no, i-it's fine. I just didn't expect that."
Blurryface stood up.
Cry Baby started walking over to the pond that was by the rocks.
It was a pretty clean one.
There were coins in it.
Looks like people dropped them in to make wishes.
"Wanna make a wish?"
Blurryface pulls out one quarter.
Cry Baby took the coin out of his hand and clasped it in hers.

Please, can I be happy in life?
No one likes me.
I don't even care about myself.
My one wish is to be happy in life.

Cry Baby threw the coin into the water.
She watched it sink to the bottom.
She was hopeless.
She stared blankly at the water.
She felt Blurryface's arm wrap around her shoulder.
That got her out of her soppy feeling.

"You okay?"
Blurryface asks.
"Yeah. I'm fine."
Cry Baby looked into his eyes.

There was only one person in this whole world that made her happy.
It was Blurryface.
She would do anything for him.
Take a bullet for him.
Be the one to jump first.
Maybe they weren't the happiest ones of all.
But when their eyes meet, the sadness drains.
And if they have problems, they're forgotten about.
Things may not get better.
But they'll go through problems together.
Cry Baby may breakdown from sadness.
Blurryface may burst out in anger from stress.
They'll still take time out of their day to help one another.
Friends or not, they still love each other.

"Do you love me? Like, love love?"
Cry Baby asks.
She turned her head to the boy.
He squinted his eyes.
"Yes. I love you like... love love."

"For real?"

"For real."

Jessica watched and heard their conversation.
She was hiding behind a tree.
She was angry.
She was almost jealous.
She grinned evilly and walked away with her hands on her hips.
As if she had a plan.
