Elena's P.O.V.

- So, the Lockwoods really have no idea that these tunnels are underneath their property? I ask to the teacher as I follow him behind. Alaric is leading me to the tunnel where Damon and him found the drawings. Well, Mason did before he disappeared. I light up my way with the flashlight, trying not to trip.

- Careful where you shine that thing, tells me, the teacher after seeing me lightening up the ceiling. Bats hate the light.

- Wait, what? I ask nervously, stopping walking. I watch Alaric turning around when I, suddenly, hear someone calling me.

- Elena!I turn around immediately, lightening up the face of the person behind me to see who it was. Boo! I gasp, scared.

- Ah! God, Damon! I say to the vampire, pushing him playfully while frowning not amused.

- Scaredy-cat! smirks, Damon, proud of himself.

- Just ignore him. That's what I do, tells me, Alaric. I see damon looking up at Alaric. I turn around and remark the teacher smiling playfully to Damon before walking away.

- So, you really can't get in? I question to Stefan's older brother after sighing.

- No, answers, the vampire with raven hair, shaking his head. Seems even the ancient Lockwoods were anti-vampire, Damon walks passed me, to join Alaric's sides.

- What do you mean, ancient? I ask him, turning around to look at the two men.

- See for yourself, replies, Damon as Alaric and I are following him behind. We walk a bit more further inside the tunnel with our flashlight until arriving to the cave. Well, this is as far as I get to go, I watch Damon sitting on a rock as Alaric enters the cave. I follow his steps and enter the cave before lightening up the walls which are full of drawings. This is incredible! It does look ancient but... what does that mean?

- What is all this? I ask to the teacher, not turning to look at him. I continue looking at all the drawings one by one.

- Well, as far as I can tell, it's a story. In simple, archaeological terms, it's a really, really old story, answers, Alaric before pointing at a drawing with his flashlight. I look at it, frowning confused. That right there, is the moon cycle, then, Alaric points at another drawing. A man, a wolf.

- A werewolf, I state surprised as I stare at the drawing.

- Yeah, it's the "Lockwood Diaries: Pictionary-Style.", replies, Damon, a mixture of joke and annoyment in his voice.

- I don't understand, I lower my flashlight and turn around to look at the teacher, frowning confused at him. I thought the Lockwoods came here with the Original Founders in the 1860s.

- I don't know. Maybe the Lockwoods did, but according to this wall, says, Alaric, looking at the walls again with his light, these werewolves have been here a lot longer than that.

- How long? I question, kind of scared of his answer.

- Long. It gets better. Show her, Ric, responds, Damon. Alaric walks towards a wall, passing next to me. I turn around to look at where he is walking and what he is going to show me.

- Names, tells, the teacher, his flashlight lightening the wall with... letters or things that looks like it. They're not native. They're written in Runic, a Viking script.

- Vikings? I repeat, arcing my eyebrows surprised.

- This name here, I translated it and it reads... Niklaus, I stare at the teacher few seconds until realising who it is.

- Klaus, I whisper, my eyes wide of surprise.

- And Elijah... and Rebekah, continues showing me, Alaric, the names on the wall.

Rebekah's P.O.V.

Flashback to the 900's in the cave

- Rebekah, let me have at it! I hear my brother telling me as he is holding a burning wooden torch. I am standing up in front of a rocky wall, inside a cave, using a knife to carve my name in Runic. I always wanted to do it and beside, father or mother won't know about it.

- Quiet, Niklaus! I am to have more concentration if I am not to slice off a finger, I reply to my brother, trying not to lose my concentrating.

- Father will not like you handling the blade, I stop and turn around to look at my brother behind me with an annoyed look.

- If I want to wield a blade, I shall wield a blade! Father need not know, I answer, tired of people, of men always telling me or women what to do. I am doing something that nobody needs to know except my brother, so let's do it.

- He will find out. He always does, states, Niklaus. I sigh and turn around to walk to stand right in front of him.

- That is because you always tell him, I respond, even more annoyed than earlier. Niklaus looks down, knowing I tell true.

- I cannot help it... he frightens me.

- He frightens us all, I answer, faintly smiling to my brother. That is why we stick together as one, always and forever. Right, traitor? I ask, smiling at him. Niklaus looks back up, his lips curving into a smile as well.

- Right.

- Here, I hold the knife up to him. You finish it. I am to help mother with the meal.

- Yes, go tend to dinner, and leave the blades to the men, little sister, jokes, Niklaus as he walks to the wall where I wrote my name. Niklaus turns around and lifts his hand up for me to give him the knife. I smile and retort by slamming the knife blade-side down into his palm, slicing it open. Agh, Bekah! winces, Niklaus, frowning hurt.

- It's just a little blood. Be a man about it, I tell him before turning around and leave to let him finish this alone.

End of the flashback

Elena's P.O.V.

- These are the names of the Original Family? I ask, staring at the names over and over.

- Carved into a cave that's been here since way before the founding of Mystic Falls. Or even the entire New World, for that matter, answers, Alaric, looking at me and shaking his head.

- Okay, this has gotta be one of Klaus's fakes, I respond, shaking my head as well, not knowing what to believe anymore.

- That's what I said, replies, Damon, smirking at the same time.

- That could be true, except the last name up here made us think otherwise, the teacher lights up another name which I didn't see yet. I switch on my flashlight again and points at where Alaric is pointing.

- What's the name? I ask.

- Mikael, I stare surprised, again, at the teacher.

- Mikael... Alaric nods. Mikael, as in, the vampire hunter who knows how to kill Klaus?

- Yep. I now like to call him "Papa Original", jokes, Damon again but none of us smiles nor laughs. This is more serious than I thought.

Alaric's P.O.V.

After showing Elena where the cave is, all the drawings and the names on the walls, I took my camera out and took pictures of everything without missing one drawings. If I can translate those ancient drawings and names, it will help us find more about the Original family and their past. And maybe even their weakness if they have one.

After exiting the cave with Damon and Elena, the three of us went back to my apartment and I print all the pictures to work on them. Each and everyone of them are covering all my desk. There are so much of these that I don't know where to start. I look at all the photos on my desk, trying to understand the story behind them if there is one or anything that could help us while Damon and Elena are standing in the middle of my apartment. The vampire is helping the brunette with her combat training since I have something else to do.

- These images tell a story.... to learn the story, you have to decipher these images, I say to them even though I am not sure they are listening to me. I turn my head around lightly to see how is Elena doing. Damon effortlessly disarms her, who was trying to stake him.

- Sloppy! whispers, the vampire which caused me to roll lightly my eyes. Elena grabs the stake back from his hands.

- Shut up! I'm new at this, replies Elena before trying to kick him. Damon catches her leg effortlessly just like before.

- "Ghost of Christmas Past" Mason Lockwood set up the cave and led us to a weapon that can kill Klaus, reminds me, Damon.

- Yeah, but doesn't Mikael have a weapon? questions, Elena, struggling to fight Damon. She tries to stab him again but Damon catches her wrist. Elena pushes her hands with her other one, trying to put more strength.

- Yes. Which probably means the wall will lead us to Mikael, who we have already found... and lost, the vampire takes the knife off her hands before spinning her around and making her back hits his chest. Bang! You're dead! whispers, Damon in Elena's ear before nibbling on her neck. I roll my eyes and turn around to look at the photos again.

- These images at the very least might tell us what that weapon is, I suggest before quietly sighing.

- Then all we have to do is find out what they mean, states, Elena, standing next to me while nodding. It's easier to say than do...

- Fine! Fine! If I am being irritatingly optimistic like you two... how do you suppose we do that? questions, Damon, sounding annoyed while coming towards us slowly.

- Well, if the story is about the Original Family living here, then we go straight to the source, I faintly nod while Damon rolls his eyes. Elena grabs her stuff that were on the sofa before leaving my apartment with the vampire. I guess I just have to work on this...

Rebekah's P.O.V.

I'm with the rest of the cheerleading squad at practice, doing a series of gymnastic moves after stretching. The blondy and the Salvatore girl isn't here today. I wonder where they are? Well, Stefan's daughter must be with her father, trying to keep him from killing someone probably. I run and do another series of gymnastic moves when the brunette suddenly appears behind me.

- You! Goody, I say smiling fakely at her.

- I was hoping we could talk, she says calmly and gently.

- About what? Stefan? Elena shakes her head and looks down. Don't worry, I'm off him until he starts treating me better. In fact, you should probably take a page out of my book, if I'm being honest, I watch her taking something out from her bag, a picture.

- Actually, I'd rather talk about this, the brunette holds the photo up. My name written in Runic that I did in the cave wall is printed of the paper. How did she found it? I'm curious why you and Klaus have spent a thousand years running from your father.

- I should get back to the girls. Homecoming's right around the corner, I reply, dodging the hard subject. I turn around and start leaving.

- Well then, maybe I'll ask Mikael when we wake him, I stop walking and turn around facing her again.

- You're bluffing! You don't know where he is. No one does, I answer, smiling fakely to her.

- So, then who's rotting in that old cemetery in Charlotte? questions, Elena, arcing both her eyebrows. My smile drops immediately as I start feeling nervous and scared.

- If you wake Mikael, we are all doomed! I warn her, stepping closer to her to close the distance I created when I started walking back to the cheerleading squad.

- So then, tell me, insists, the brunette, almost sounding like she is threatening me.

- Why do you want to know? I ask, shaking my head and frowning.

- Why don't you want me to wake him? she questions, not answering the question either and shaking her head as well. I stare at her for a moment, knowing I won't get where I want to. And nor will she...

- I need to get back to the girls, I turn around and walk back to the cheerleading squad, shaken up by what I heard while thinking of my scary past.

Flashback to ancient times

- Come on Henrik, our brothers are fighting again! I say to my little brother, smiling before running towards where Elijah and Niklaus are fighting. Our brothers are in the middle of a sword fight, in the center of the village. Few people are watching them, smiling. Henrik and I stop, staying at a good distance to watch them without any danger.

- Oh look, our sister has arrived to watch my fast approaching victory! jokes, Elijah, smiling to me before looking at Niklaus who is smiling as well.

- On the contrary, Elijah... Niklaus swings his sword but Elijah stops him. My blonde brother fights again until cutting Elijah's belt off his waist. She's come to laugh at you! everyone is laughing around us, amused and entertained. Elijah smiles and nods while Niklaus gets up since he was kneeing on the ground. Suddenly, I remark that everyone has stopped laughing and are staring behind Henrik and I. I turn around and see mother and father staring at my brothers. Father stares angrily at Niklaus.

- Relax, Mikael. Niklaus means well, I hear mother saying to father.

- That is precisely my problem, replies, father between his teeth. He begins to approach my brothers and comes taking Elijah's sword. Nobody is smiling or laughing anymore. Niklaus looks alternately between the ground and our father. I can tell he is scared. Father turns to Niklaus as I remark mother walking away. So, why don't you teach me that trick, young warrior? questions, our father, hatred in his voice. Father begins to swordfight with him but my brother dodges the sword.

- Father, we were just having fun, replies, Niklaus, looking scared while backing up.

- We fight for our survival! And you find time for fun?! I want to have fun! Teach me! Come on! screams angrily, our father while stepping slowly forward, following Niklaus steps.

- Father, it was nothing... repeats, Niklaus, scared, almost shaking of fear. Father swings his sword again, grunting at the same time before disarming my brother without effort and slamming him on his back on the ground. He sets the sword under Niklaus's throat which caused me to gasp quietly. Elijah, Henrik, mother and I are staring at the scene, powerless.

- You are foolish and impulsive, my boy. What? No more laughter? screams angrily, father.

- You've made your point, Mikael! says, sternly mother, stopping him before he goes to far. Suddenly, father stabs the sword into the ground, next to Niklaus's head.

- Some days, it's a miracle you're still alive, boy, I hear father saying to my brother. Father gets up and walks away quickly. Father passes in front of me, his face showing angriness. I look down before glancing at Niklaus who is still laying on the ground, looking sad and scared.

End of the flashback

Gillian's P.O.V.

I am sitting in the cell, my arms crossed over my chest, my head against the wall and my eyes closed. I didn't really sleep last night. I just couldn't. It's not because dad was talking, no, he actually haven't talk to me since Elena walked out of the cell. I just couldn't sleep because of everything that is going on, of what Lexi did to help us, of what could happen if something turns wrong,... I mean, dad is compelled this time which add a difficulty to bring him back this time.

The sun has came up few hours ago and dad keeps staring at the wall and I alternately. I sigh before standing up from the floor. I rub my eyes, tired of the night I just had. I take my phone out from my pocket when I see a text message from Uncle Damon.

- "Hey, Boo. I know you're at the cellar and probably staying there to look for your old man. I just wanted to tell you that with Mason Lockwood's help, we found a cave under the Lockwood property and it's quiet interesting. If you want to know more, go see Alaric. He'll show you. Be careful there, I love you little niece.'' I frown confused to the text message. What did they found there? And Mason? I guess he appeared with all the other ghosts last night. I wonder why he didn't kill my uncle. I reply to his text, saying that I am heading to Alaric's apartment and that I'll come back straight after to the cell. I walk towards the door and was about to exit it when dad talks to me.

- Your giving yourself too much pain and puting too much effort for nothing. You should just leave, just like Elena, I don't care anyway, I turn around glaring at him before closing the door cell. I lock it and walk quickly back to the streets. Alaric's apartment isn't far anyway. I rush to the teacher's before knocking on his front door.

- Hey, Uncle Ric, I say after opening his front door. He turns around to look at me, a slight surprise shown in his eyes. It has been a while since I called him like that, I guess that's why he is looking at me that way. I smile at him while closing the front door of his apartment.

- Hey, Lian, smiles back, the teacher, before turning back to the photos on the table in front of him. I thought you were down in that cellar with your old man, he says, sounding extremely annoyed when he talked about dad.

- I was but I needed fresh air. It's kind of... very choking and hard emotionally to stay there, I explain as I arrive next to him. I look at the pictures, frowning curious and confused. Those drawing does look old.

- You look tired, he says, a point of concern in his voice. I turn my head to look at the teacher before faintly smiling at him. I didn't know he was looking at me.

- I didn't really sleep last night, I answer before looking back at the pictures. I hear him sighing as he passes his left hand in his hair.

- How are you doing? He asks, obviously, trying to not mention dad.

- I'm doing great, Ric, I answer with sarcasm as I grab a picture. I see him turning completely on his chair to face me. I put the picture down and look at the teacher with and arced eyebrow. Do I have a bit of something on my face? His stare gets more serious as he lightly titles his head on the side. I know what he was referring to, I was just trying to get away from the subject. I'm just trying to stay strong, take everything on me as much as I can without failing and falling, I whisper, while grabbing another picture.

- You can't do that, I look up at him, frowning lightly. I mean, a human wouldn't been able to do that, so I'm guessing, since you're a vampire and your emotions are... Amplified, it must be harder. Almost impossible, he responds back, gently, as his hand squeezes my shoulder. I look down at the pictures, tired while lightly shrugging. Tired of everything, of what is going on with dad, of Elena and I fighting, of Klaus, of my life being on a thin line every days, of the supernatural world,... Everything. Don't get to hard with yourself, Lian. You're hurting yourself more while doing this, I put the picture down and look back at Alaric, feeling my eyes watering. I can barely see him through the tears.

- I guess pain is what makes me strong lately, I say in a whisper, trying to control my voice.

- Gillian..., starts saying Alaric but I stop him.

- He's my father, Ric, I say shakily before bitting my lower lip. I need the man who taught me everything I know, who gave me love, who taught me love, who taught me to fight, to survive and all, back, I tell him with a shaky and cracky voice. I can feel his hand squeezing my arm harder. I look down at the pictures when I feel the tears rolling down. I feel so weak, powerless and tired, uncle Ric, I whisper as I begin to sob. I'm sorry, I whisper while whiping the tears away but more come out. I cover my face to hide it from him.

- Hey. Hey, hey. Come here, come here, he says as he pulls me gently against his chest. I pass my arms around his neck and cry freely on his shoulder. Alaric's right hand is doing circles on my back as my body shakes due to my sobbing. Shh, it's alright. It's alright. It's going to be okay. You'll see, he says as I feel his head resting on mine and his left hand comes in my hair to stroke them. I don't reply anything nor move away from him but stays in his arms for a moment. I needed it. I gently pull away and look up at the teacher who takes my head between his hands. He gently smiles at me while wipping my cheeks. If I make you a coffee, would you like that? I smile at him and sniff before nodding. The teacher gets up and goes to his kitchen, preparing the coffee.

I look back at all the pictures, remarking that there are drawings but also letters... Or things that looks like letters. It could be names... It is names. I must be very tired for not remarking the blue papers sticking on it. I see the post-its on it with the translation Alaric did. Klaus... Rebekah... Michael... I frown as I look closer at them.

- What language is this, Ric? Grec? I ask as the teacher comes back with the cup of coffee. He puts it down next to me and I thank him.

- It's Vikings actually. But nice guess, he answers, sitting down on the chair next to me, smiling gently.

- The Originals are Vikings? I ask, frowning surprised. I see the teacher nodding before he goes back to his post-its. I remark him starting confused at two pictures. They look so much alike. Except one seems to have a sun on it. What does it represent? I ask after taking a sip of my coffee.

- I don't know. It's so confused.

- It looks like fangs, I say as I point at the things on both pictures. Suddenly, Alaric puts the pictures down and writes a word on a post-it and another one on a second blue paper. What are you doing? He sticks them on the pictures and looks at it.

- You're right. This represents the vampires and this the werewolf. But... He stops, staring confused at them.

- Why would werewolf needs sun? If we assume this is a sun and this is a moon. Maybe you should... I grab the post-its and switch them. I put the vampire word next to the one resembling at a sun with fangs under it and werewolf next to a moon. Alaric smiles and looks up at me.

- Who knew you had an archeological past, jokes, the teacher, as I take a new sip of my coffee, finishing the cup.

- I know, I know. People sometimes call me Lara Croft, even though I don't fight people for a treasure, I wink at him before bringing the cup to his kitchen sink.

- No, you fight way worse than men holding a gun, I turn and look at the teacher who is still faintly smiling. I don't reply and wash the cup before walking back to him.

- Alright, I'll let you finish this. You're doing great without me. I have to go back to the cell and do my work, I tell him, sighing sadly as I say the last sentence. Alaric looks at me a moment as I try to smile.

- Call me if you need help with anything.

- I will, I kiss his cheek and walk to the front door. Bye, Uncle Ric.

- Bye, Lian, I open the door and exit the apartment. I walk down the stairs of his building when I see Elena talking with someone over the phone. I wave a her politely, mimicking a "hi". The brunette looks at me but doesn't say anything nor does a gesture to greet me back. I roll my eyes and rush to the cellar.

Alaric's P.O.V.

- I've got this, Damon, I hear Elena saying over the phone with the vampire after she entered my apartment. If we can figure out a way to kill Klaus, Stefan will be free of his compulsion. So... how does he look? she questions, probably mentioning Stefan. I sigh and hang few photos up, staring at them.

- Mmm... pasty and pouty, I hear, the vampire saying over the phone. The sound is so loud, anybody could hear the conversation.

- He'll have to get over it. Call me later, I turn around and look at Elena who hangs up with the raven hair vampire. She looks sad, nervous and mad at the same time. Rebekah will come around.

- You're sure about that? I ask her, doubting a bit. I mean a thousand-year-old vampire, I'm sure, has learned the art of patience, I tell her as the brunette looks, suddenly, at her phone.

- She's a thousand-year-old vampire, who's joined the cheerleader squad... I frown confused, not getting her point. There is a whole different set of rules that play here, Ric. I got this, she says showing up the screen of her phone. A text message coming from Rebekah is on it. I faintly nod and shrug at the same time.

Damon's P.O.V.

I look at my sick and sleepy baby brother through the small window of the door of the cell before opening this one. Stefan, who was sleeping to kill time, lifts his head up weakly and looks at me. I stay standing between the frame of the door, smirking while Stefan smirks as well.

- You know, if you three are gonna keep me locked in here for the next decade, I think we can skip the routine visits, states my brother weakly, joking lightly.

- You know I'm not a big champion in this whole Lexi-Recovery-Plan... but Elena and Gillian think this place is gonna weaken you up, break you down and make you feel again... I tell him as I step inside the cell. I grab a chain and pull on it but it's stuck. I shrug to myself before looking back at Stefan.

- We should all listen to Elena, right? I mean her plans always work out so well, don't they? That's why Gillian is always left out or getting hurt at the end, responds, my brother with sarcasm. I look down and faintly shake my head, knowing he is right. Why are you here? questions, Stefan seriously.

- What are you talking about? It's Family Day at Vampire Rehab! So, I'm paying a visit to my baby brother, I answer, smirking as I walk around the chair he is tied up to.

- Go away. I already don't want Gillian to stay, less you, replies, Stefan as serious as before. My brother looks so pale, weak. His eyes are almost red and he is sweating.

- Nahhh. I thought we could hang out, a little brother bonding, I put my hand on his shoulder and lean in closer to his ear. How've you been, Stef? Huh? Stefan laughs humorlessly and turns lightly to me.

- You know, Klaus may wanna keep Elena and Gillian alive, but that doesn't mean either one of them are safe with Rebekah... I look up, thinking before shaking my head and straightening back up.

- Liar, liar pants on fire, brother, I pat his shoulder. Klaus compelled you to protect Elena and your daughter, and if you thought for even a second that they were in danger, you'd be working a lot harder. Especially if Gillian was going to die, I say as I place myself right in front of my baby brother. I cross my arms over my chest as Stefan laughs lightly.

- You got me. You got me! repeats, the ill vampire sarcastically while fakely smiling. You got me. You're good, Stefan stops smiling as I walk towards the door. Congratulations! You can go now, he says, staring at me with a death glare. I stare at him as well, not saying anything for a moment. I frown lightly, sad of what I am seeing and realizing.

- You really have given up, I tell lowly.

- Actually, this is my happy face... smiles fakely my brother. I nod, frowning sadly. I understand why Gillian feels so sad and down since... so long. She understood it before I did. I guess Elena did too. None of us say anything when I hear someone coming. I turn lightly around when I see my niece entering the cell with her phone in her hand.

- Uncle Damon? she asks, frowning confused at me. What are you doing here?

- Ah! My dear daughter. Welcome back. It's almost home here, isn't it? Your uncle decided to pay a visit, answers, Stefan to Gillian with sarcasm while still smiling. Gillian glares at him before looking back at me, frowning and waiting for me to answer her question.

- I think there's another way to bring your father back, I tell her whispering, facing her completely as I look at her seriously.

- Lexi's way works perfectly fine, she responds, shaking her head lightly, still looking a bit confused.

- Maybe. But it's different this time, so I'd like to try something new, dear little niece, I walk towards Stefan before grabbing the chains keeping Stefan tied up. I rip them off and break the chains binding his hands and feet as well.

- Damon! Calls me, Gillian with madness.

- What are you doing? questions, Stefan, looking up at me confused.

- Screw this Lexi-plan. I think we could both use a drink, I walk back towards the door when I see Gillian frowning confused and madly at me. I mean us three, I exit the cell before hearing Gillian scoffing. Stefan gets up and exits the cell first. I follow his steps with Gillian behind me. We reach the outside and walk toward my car parked not too far from here. My niece's steps are quickening when she suddenly grabs my arms. I stop and turn around.

- Damon, what are you doing? she whispers, frowning confused.

- Trying another plan to save your father. He is compelled this time, he didn't turn it off by himself. Which is why I'm going to remind him a few things, starting by his freedom, I answer her in a whisper and calmly before walking to my car a bit further where Stefan is waiting for us, leaning on it with his arms crossed over his chest.

Elena's P.O.V.

I enter the Salvatore boarding house, hearing music playing very loudly. I thought vampires had better hearing than humans. I walk up further inside the house, towards the music, hoping the blonde Original girl will be there. I enter the living-room and see her standing there, walking in with a glass of champagne and the bottle in her hands. Well, at least some people feel at home and are having fun...

- Hey! What's up? asks me, Rebekah smiling before putting the bottle and the glass down.

- You invited me over? To talk? I remind her, arcing my eyebrows to show her that I am serious. The blonde looks at me few seconds before turning around.

- All right girls, have at it! Six girls in various jewel-toned colored homecoming dresses and heels walk in the room. Why are they here? Okay, now twirl please, all of them twirl, just like she asks them to show off the dresses.

- You compelled your own private runway show? I question calmly while shaking my head with disbelief.

- I need a Homecoming dress, I arc an eyebrow, surprised. So, what do you think? Pick one, I scoff and look up, not believing she sent me a text message for this.

- I'm not here to help you shop. I'm here to talk about why you don't want me to wake up Mikael, I remind her, staring at her seriously and a bit annoyed. I want answers, I'll have them. Rebekah, suddenly, rushes to one of the girls, grabs her neck and vamps out, ready to bite her. I gasp and step forward two times, scared that she'll hurt the poor girl.

- I said "pick one", Elena, repeats calmly, Rebekah, her fangs out and the veins popped under her eyes. Her eyes are so red... it always impress me.

- The...red one, I answer while pointing at me.

- There. It wasn't so hard, was it? questions, Rebekah, caressing the blonde hair of the girl she was about to bite. Go away, all six girls look at her, frowning scaredly. Remember nothing, she says, compelling them. The girls leave and Rebekah walks back towards the table where she let her glass and the bottle of champagne. She picks up her champagne glass and walks to me, looking serious into my eyes. I lightly back-up, feeling nervous. You do not threaten me. You'll learn what I allow you to learn. Is that clear? I nod and Rebekah walks passed me, leaving the living-room.

Alaric's P.O.V.

- Hey there! I hear Bonnie telling me as she enters my apartment after knocking.

- Bonnie! Come on in! I tell her, smiling before walking back to my desk to get a picture.

- Got your message, she says while joining my sides.

- Yeah, great! Uh, I'm sorry the place is such a mess. I'm obsessed... I tell her, showing the desk covered of photos from the cave while awkwardly laughing.

- I brought you the necklace that wouldn't die, faintly smiles, the witch as she holds up the necklace.

- Ahh, that's great, I say taking it and looking at it for a moment. I look back up at Bonnie, seeing her face hiding her sadness. You okay?

- Been better... answers, Bonnie, nodding.

- Listen, Jeremy is an idiot. And I know this with certainty, because I was once a Jeremy. Trust me, we learn... eventually... Elena's best friend smiles at me which I give her back. I take a breath in before taking a picture from the desk and showing it to her. So, I've been staring at this image all day, wondering why it looked so familiar, I hold up the necklace next to the photo as I concluded that my guess was right. I was right.

- It's the same design, whispers, Bonnie, looking alternately between the photo and the necklace. She frowns surprised.

- So, your grandmother said this necklace belonged to the witch that put the hybrid curse on Klaus, right? Bonnie nods. Well, this symbol is repeated all across the wall. I've been trying to figure out what it meant, I take a post-it and a pen and write a word down. And now I know... I take the post-it and stick it on the photo before holding it up to show it to Bonnie. The post-it has the word "witch" written on it. Bonnie faintly nods, getting where I am going with this.

Rebekah's P.O.V.

- How fun is this...? I ask to the brunette as I enter Stefan's bedroom, smiling amused. I walk to a drawer, put my glass of champagne on top of it before opening a drawer.

- We shouldn't be here... sighs, Elena, staying at the door.

- 'Course we should! I say while looking at the vampire's underwears. I pick one up and look at it while turning to Elena. Come on, like you've never wanted to snoop, I hold the underwear up, showing it to Elena... Even though I know she must have saw more. Boxer briefs. A lot has changed since the twenties.

- Are you gonna root through his stuff all night or are you gonna start to tell me your story? questions, the brunette, annoyed and her arms crossed over her chest. I put the underwear back in the drawer, close it and turn around while sighing.

- Ah... you really are no fun. What do you want to know? I ask her while slowly walking into the room and looking around.

- Well, Elijah said that your father was a landowner in Europe. How did you guys end up here? questions, Elena as I touch everything that is on Stefan's desk.

- My parents had just started a family, when a plague struck their homeland. They lost a child to it. They wanted to escape and protect their future family from the same fate, I answer as I look at papers. Boring... I put them back down and look for something more... entertaining.

- So, how did you end up here? This part of the world hadn't even been discovered yet, questions and states, the human brunette. I laugh while getting some pictures.

- Not by anyone in your history books, I look up and see her frowning confused. But my mother knew the witch Ayana, who heard from the spirits of a mystical land where everyone was healthy... I look back to the photos, flipping them one by one, blessed by the gifts of speed and strength. That lead my family here, where we lived amongst those people, I fall on a picture of the vampire smiling and holding a kid which is laughing as well. I'm guessing this is Gillian sitting on his knees, laughing, when she was kid. Awnhh! Aren't those two so cute here? I ask her, showing the picture. Elena looks away, not amused. A point of madnes shown in her eyes. I put the pictures back together and drop them on the desk as Elena looks back at me.

- The werewolves? she asks, talking about what I explained her seconds ago.

- To us, they were just our neighbors, I answer as I flip some pages from a book. My family lived in peace with them for over 20 years, during which time my family had more children, including me.

- You make it sound so normal.

- It was, I answer, faintly smiling as I look outside while remembering my old life. Once a month our family retreated into the caves beneath our village. The wolves would howl through the night and by morning we'd return home...

Flashback to the 900s

I was looking at different sorts of necklaces and talismans hanging on a rope in Ayana's window. I always loved watching them. They looked so special and powerful. I tried to touch one of them but the necklace instantly burned my fingers. I retrieve my hand immediately, groaning of pain before turning around to look at the woman standing at a small distance from me.

- Ayana, you burned me! I tell her with disbelief.

- That is not yours to touch, smiles gently, the witch as I stare at her.

- Mother!!! I hear Niklaus yelling outside, sounding scared and nervous.

- Is that Niklaus? Something is wrong, I look by the window where the necklaces and talismans are hanging and see my brother coming toward the village, holding Henrik's body against him. Henrik! I call my young bother while running outside.

- Mother!!! screams again, Niklaus, crying as he puts Henrik's body on the ground. Henrik's chest is covered of blood and three long deep scratches. I look up and see Elijah and mother running towards us. Mother kneels next to my dead brother on the ground.

- No, no!! What happened? questions mother, sadly.

- The wolves! I am sorry, I'm so sorry! cries, Niklaus, sitting next to Henrik's body as Ayana joins mother. She examines the wounds and my little brother's face.

- We must save him. Please, there must be a way! pleads, mother to the witch. I knee next to Niklaus and put my hand on his shoulder while lightly squeezing it.

- The spirits will not give us a way, Esther. Your boy is gone, replies Ayana.

- No! No!!! cries, mother as she clutches over Henrik's dead body.

End of the flashback

- One full moon, Klaus and my youngest brother Henrik snuck out to watch the men turn into beasts. That was forbidden. Henrik paid the price... And that was the beginning of the end of peace with our neighbors, I turn back around to the brunette, looking at her seriously. And one of the last moments my family had together as humans, I explain to her. We stare at each other for a moment, none of us saying a word when her cellphone starts to vibrate. Elena takes the phone out of her pocket and looks at the I.D.. I clear my throat and shake lightly my head. You better get that. That'll be Damon checking up on you, I tell her, annoyed. The girl answers her phone and turns around.

- Hello? she asks.

Gillian's P.O.V.

- Hey! I hear Uncle Damon saying to Elena over the phone as dad, him and I are entering a bar. I walk between the two men as I look around the place.

- Damon, where are you? I hear Elena asking him over the phone. Gosh, the music is so loud here.

- No idea, but I'm pretty sure I'm overdressed... Still standing? answers, and asks, Damon.

- Yes, I'm fine, but I can't talk right now, responds, Elena.

- I'll be at the bar, tells, dad to Damon and I. I roll my eyes and follow him.

- Is that Stefan? questions, Elena. Well, she obviously heard him.

- Yeah, I kinda went off a bit. Don't worry. We know what we're doing, answers, Damon while dad sits at the bar. I sit on the stool next to him and Damon stands on my left.

- Damon! How could you let him out? Wait, we? Oh, I'm guessing Gillian is with you! she asks and tells with madness. I turn to my uncle and frown madly at what I heard. I see him rolling his eyes.

- Tell her that if she still has a problem with me, I'll be more than glad to solve it with her later, I say loudly and angrily, knowing Elena will hear me. Damon titles his head on the side and I smile at him before turning my head to look straight in front of me as my smile drops.

- I got this, Elena, replies, my uncle before hanging up. What are we drinking? questions, Damon to dad and I as he looks alternately to us. I open my mouth but dad was faster to answer.

- Hopefully something a little bit warmer... I turn around to look at him and see him waving at someone, and a little bit blonder... I turn back around and see a blonde woman, probably the bartender, coming near us smiling.

- Dad! I growl and glare at him as I kick his leg at the same time. Dad looks at me and winks while smiling.

- Hi! smiles the blonde bartender to both my uncle and my father. I see Uncle Damon leaning in, smirking at the woman.

- Hello... Callie, he says her name after checking her badge. I sigh quietly as I look quickly around. I would love two shots of your best whiskey, and my brother here would love a shot of you, I look back at my uncle and see him staring into her eyes. I can't believe it! I open my mouth wide, shocked and in disbelief. The woman gives her arm and doesn't move. Uncle Damon grabs it and holds it towards my father. I scoff and shake my head.

- What's the catch, Damon? questions, dad, suspicious.

- No catch, brother. Drink up. It's on me, replies, Damon, smirking again. I turn my dad holding a sigh out inside me while frowning.

- Dad, he looks at me, don't. I might be your daughter, I might have to obey you. But I swear if you drink from her... I was whispering between my teeth when, suddenly, dad covers my mouth with his hand which caused me to frown confused.

- Your talking to much, baby, he says and winks. Baby? Seriously? Yesterday, he tells me that he wished I was not his daughter, that I am a mistake and a burden to educate and today, he calls me baby?!

The frown stays plastered on my face goes from confusedness to madness. I bite his hand not too hard, making him gasp and retrieving it. Dad smiles amused and stands up before pushing my stool with me on it away. He grab's the bartender's arm and vamps-out before biting on it, feeding the blood he lost while being in the cell. I watch Damon leaning over to hide what is going on. I shake my head and keep my rage inside me. It's hard... it's getting harder to do it lately.

Thrity minutes later, Damon, dad and I are playing quarters at a table. Three empty glasses are in front of us and three others have a fund of alcohol. Callie is sitting on Damon's lap, watching us play. She's the muppet of the two brothers. I hate it. I hate when they use humans for the advantage. I get what Damon is doing, I do, but I think he can do it in another way... Can't he? It's my turn to flip a coin. I sigh and do it, making the coin flip inside the glass.

- Drink up dear uncle! I tell him, smiling fakely and with sarcasm before glaring madly at him. Damon smirks and grabs the bottle of whiskey before holding it up to the Callie.

- You get us a bottle of this? questions, my uncle to the woman sitting on his lap.

- Yes, sir, she responds, smiling as she takes the bottle and then, leaves. I watch her walking away before glancing at my uncle. He stares at dad with a weird look.

- You been on this "bunny diet" for a better part of 50 years. So, how is it that "Saint Stefan", of all people, is good at a drinking game? questions, Uncle Damon as my dad chuckles. I take my glass of alcohol and drink it up in one gulp.

- Oh, the "bunny diet" gave me a lot of time to practice, answers, dad, sounding like he is giving an advice. I roll my eyes while Damon hummed. Wallow in despair, dad flips a coin into the glass, drown in guilt, he flips another coin into the glass, regret my existence. It's precision born out of tragic boredom, dad looks at me and points at me. Drink up, daughter of mine! I stare at him not amused at all and mad before taking my uncle's glass and drinking it up in one gulp. I see Damon rolling his eyes and not looking very happy that I drink that much.

- Alright, I think you had enough for today, Boo, he tells me taking the glass back. I grab one and keep it into my hand.

- Well, I think I have the right to play as well, Uncle damon, don't you think? He stares at me, not really happy but I don't care. Because if none of you have seen it, and especially you, I say, pointing at my father, I have a lot, like a lot to say. I grab three coins and flip the first coin into the glass. I feel like a mistake since the day I was born, I flip a second coin, I felt like a damn burden for most of my life, I flip a third coin in a row into the glass, and I felt very much alone most of my life. But guess what, this is just the beginning. I take the coins from my glass and the ones from my father's before restarting flipping them. I keep holding my rage, I flip a coin, my pain, I flip another one, my sadness, and another, my scaredness and all, and another, just like a damn volcano that is about to exploded, I flip a coin again, and that, until I won't be able to which, if it continues to go like that, will be soon, I say with my voice full of madness and sadness. Both brothers look at me, frowning and not saying anything. I can tell dad is thinking even though he doesn't care much. However, Uncle Damon is staring at me shocked and sad. I know he didn't know half of what I said. And I actually surprised myself by saying those things... But I needed to say it... out loud. I sigh and point at both of them. Drink up! They both grab a glass which has a very small fund of alcohol before drinking up.

- All that effort wasted trying to tell you how boring you are, says my uncle to my dad as the two of them put the glass down on the table, and now you finally agree with me?

- Damon, you are worse than Elena or my daughter. Getting me drunk, brotherly bonding... what do you think, I'll break down and you can pull me back from the edge, is that it? asks, dad, leaning on the table while Uncle Damon is leaning in his chair.

- I happen to like the edge, Stefan! Your problem is your inability to resist falling over it, replies, Damon looking seriously at him. Dad nods and looks down while smiling, not caring. All or nothing, man. You can't just be, Callie, suddenly, comes back with the bottle of whiskey and sits on my uncle's lap. Although, who am I to judge? Damon flips a coin and lands in into the glass. Drink up, brother! Uncle Damon leans Callie's arm out to my father where the previous bite is shown. I roll my eyes and sigh before grabbing the bottle of whiskey between the men. I open it and drink from it instead of pouring the liquid into a glass. I guess Alaric was right this morning...

Rebekah's P.O.V.

- Did you get your fill of snooping yet? Can we get on with the story? Questions, Elena to me, sitting at Stefan's desk and looking bored and annoyed. I am laying on the vampires bed, reading one of Stefan's journal. I close the diary, looking annoyed at the brunette at the same time before getting up. I walk to the desk to get another diary when I see a picture of him and her. I take it and frown disgusted.

- Honestly, I don't get you two as a couple, I state to the human girl, looking up at her from the photo, frowning and shaking my head.

- Why would you? You don't know anything about who he really is, she answers, calmly and shaking her head as well. I smile amused by her comment. I put the photo back down before leaning in front of the girl, my smile dropped.

- I know exactly who he is. He's a vampire. We're a predatory species, I tell her before leaning even closer to the girl's face. We don't have time to care about humans and their silly little lives, I whisper.

- Is that why you did that runway show earlier? 'Cause you don't care about the Homecoming Dance... smirks, the brunette. I stare at her, seriously and almost defeated before straightening back up. You know what, I'm just gonna go, Elena gets up and turns around to leave.

- You haven't even heard half the story, I say which caused her to stop walking further.

- And you are not going to tell it, Elena turns back to look at me as she lightly sighs. You're just bored and looking for someone to push around. Find someone else to play with... maybe you can compel yourself a friend, the girl turns around again to leave.

- The necklace wasn't Stefan's to give. It belonged to the Original Witch, I admit to her. She turns around for the fourth time and look at me confused.

- The one who put the hybrid curse on Klaus? Questions, the brunette.

- Not just the hybrid curse. She's the one who turned us into vampires, I respond, smiling.

Flashback to the 900s

- Please, Ayana! I implore you! You must call upon the spirits before the next full moon, tells father to the witch who is standing right in the middle of our home, a burning fire in front of her and burning torches around the room. I was sitting in the next room, eavesdropping the conversation.

- I will not! It is a crime against nature, answers, the witch again to my parents.

- Ayana, we have already lost too much. We cannot lose any more... The spirits can help us find a way to protect our children, replies, mother to her friend, probably looking at her with pleading eyes.

End of the flashback

- I'm thirsty. Do you want a drink? I ask to the brunette, smiling before walking passed her to join the stairs. I hear Elena following me behind until we reached the library of the Salvatore's. Those vampires live actually quiet well here.

- So, vampirism was a form of protection? Questions, Elena, trying to understand.

- What else would it be? I ask back, like her question was dumb.

- A curse? says, Elena, frowning as she shakes her head.

- My parents only saw a way of keeping their children alive, I respond, sounding... nostalgic and also angry at what my parents did to me and my siblings.

- Yeah, but why stay, if they were so afraid of the werewolves? Why not... leave? questions, the brunette, confused. I stop walking and turn around to face her.

- Pride... My father didn't want to run anymore. He wanted to fight and be superior to the wolves. Where they could bite, we had to bite harder. Where they had speed, we had to be faster. Agility, strength, senses... I explain her, remembering this time.

Flashback to 900s

- Everything could be heightened. Our family could live forever... I hear father saying to the witch with a pleading and sure tone. I am still in the room next to theirs, eavesdropping the conversation.

- At what cost? This magic you speak of breeds consequence. This is the makings of a plague, Esther. The spirits will turn on you, assures and explains, Ayana, sounding serious.

- Please, Ayana, pleads, mother, sounding scared at the same time. I don't really think I know what she is scared of, but I guess I will find it sooner or later.

- I will have no part in it, suddenly, I hear the door getting opened and then closed. I'm guessing the witch left. A slight silence takes place in the room where my parents are which makes the ambience getting heavy.

- If she will not protect our family... then it is in your hands alone, my love, I hear father whispering to mother.

End of the flashback

- In her hands? How could she do anything? questions, Elena, frowning confused at me.

- Because my mother was also a witch, I answer, sighing quietly, knowing this will lead to so many more questions from the brunette.

- What? asks, Elena, surprised and shocked at the same time.

- The witch of the Original Family. The Original Witch, I say before leading myself towards some shelves. Where do they keep their best vintage? I ask to the girl, feeling the need to drink a bit with all I've been saying about my family and it's oh so not wonderful past.

- But if your mother was a witch, then... starts saying, Elena, before I cut her mid-sentence.

- Am I? No, a witch is nature's servant; a vampire is an abomination of nature. You can either be one or the other, never both, I open a closet and pick a bottle out before turning around to look at the brunette. She frowns confused at me, probably wondering how can Klaus be both then. My mother did this for us. She did not turn.

- How did you turn? questions seriously, Elena, to me.

- She called upon the sun for life, and the ancient white oak tree, one of nature's eternal objects, for immortality. That night, my father offered us wine laced with blood. And then he drove his sword through our hearts, I explain her as I stopped in front of the fireplace and stare at the flames dancing together, remembering that awful night.

- He killed you? whispers, Elena, with disbelief.

- And he wasn't delicate about it either, I reply, turning around to look at her before breaking the neck of the bottle I am holding and throwing it into the fireplace. Elena gasps, surprised.

Flashback to the 900s

- Rebekah... I hear my brother, Niklaus, calling me weakly as I wake up slowly. I open my eyes and slowly starts sitting upright when I remark blood on my clothe and a bit on the ground under I.

- Blood! I gasp, shocked and scared of what could have happened to us. What happened? I ask as I touch the nightgown where I've been stabbed. Who did this? Why am I not dead?

- You will be alright! We will all be alright, reassures me, Niklaus, coming to my side as I feel tears inside my eyes. I feel his hand on my shoulder when the front door is opened. A girl with father following behind her enter our home. What are you doing? questions, my brother, sounding confused and scared.

- We must finish what we started! Father pushes the village girl onto her knees in front of us. Her face looking so scared. You have to drink if you want to live, explains, father before taking a knife out and cutting the girl's wrist open. I gasp, shocked of what he just did to that poor girl. Drink! I stare at the blood dripping from the wrist, hesitating to drink it. It smells surprisingly good... What is wrong with me? Suddenly, Niklaus tries to push father away, stopping him from hurting the girl more but father is stronger than him and pushes him aside. Drink! orders me, Father. He grabs the wrist of the girl and pushes my head to it, forcing me to bite it. Drink!!! he repeats angrily, keeping a tight hold on my hair, stopping me from trying to get away. I give up and begin to drink, the taste of the warm blood feeling amazing down my throat.

End of the flashback

- We had to drink more blood to complete the ritual. It was euphoric! I tell to Elena, remembering the first time I drank blood. The feeling of power was indescribable... but the witch, Ayana, was right about the consequences. The spirits turned on us, and nature fought back... For every strength there would be a weakness... I remember walking in my home and passing in front of a window when a ray of sunlight coming through it burned me. I loved the sun back then... The sun became our enemy. It kept us indoors for weeks... And though my mother found a solution, I say as I mention about my daylight ring. There were other problems... Neighbors who had opened their homes to us could now keep us out, I remember people, my friends, running away from me when I walked toward them, scared of what I became. Flowers at the base of the white oak burned, I say mentioning the vervain and remembering the first time I burned myself with it, and prevented compulsion. And the spell decreed that the tree that gave us life could also take it away... so we burned it to the ground, I remember a huge fire, the flames enveloping the tree of white oak. Father, Elijah, Rebekah and Niklaus were watching it burning down while I was standing at the back. But the darkest consequence was something my parents never anticipated... The hunger, I say as I remember two villagers carrying a slaughtered pig tied to a rod to be spit-roasted. I remember the smell of blood calling me. I was craving for it. Blood...had made us reborn and it was blood that we craved above all else. We could not control it... I was staring at the villagers after they hang the slaughtered pig while gasping as I tried to resist to the urge of the strong smell. But, I couldn't. I vamped out and hurried to them, killing them instantly after draining their blood out. And with that, the predatory species was born...

Gillian's P.O.V.

I am sitting on a chair with my feet on a table, drinking whiskey from the same bottle as I watch my uncle dancing on another table with two girls around him, shaking their body against him. The music is so loud that it almost starts to give me a headache. I roll my eyes as I swallow the liquid which lightly burns my throat when I turn my look onto my father. He has Callie pined to a pole, kissing her neck roughly and delicately at the same time. It's not very surprising of him lately. I sigh and look away around the bar before taking my phone out. We've been here for three hours already?! Great! I sigh as I put my phone back in my pocket before looking back to where my father is. He is still kissing Callie's... wait a minute... He wouldn't... I stand up to check if my thought was right when I remark a woman passing by them and looking at them horrified. I can't believe this! I rush to my dad and pull him away from her.

- Nothing to see here! I say to the woman, compelling her before grabbing the scarf from her neck. Just run along, okay? The woman nods and walks away. I turn to my father, frowning madly at him. Couldn't you be more obvious? I ask, annoyed and angrily to my father with my hands on my hips. He wipes his mouths, taking the blood away while smiling.

- And where's the fun in this, Gi? questioned back my father, crossing his arms over his chest while smirking at me.

- Fun? Are you damn serious? Do you even hear yourself when you're talking? I ask to my father, my voice getting louder and louder as my angriness rises more and more down my chest. It feels so heavy, so hard to keep control of it. Suddenly, I feel a hand pulling me gently away from my father before a familiar figure stands between us.

- Easy up, you two, tells calmly Damon, while looking alternately between the two of us. She is giving us her employee discount, I watch Uncle Damon taking the scarf out from my hand before puting it around Callie's neck. And now, just run along, says, Damon, compelling the girl.

I sigh, groaning upset and annoyed at the same time as I lead myself to the bar. I still have the bottle of whiskey in my hand. I take a good and long sip of it, emptying the bottle. I sit on the tool and put the bottle down on the bar when I hear my uncle and my father joining me. They stand on each of my side as Damon orders three more drinks. The bartender nods and prepares the drinks.

- Alright! Tell me what's up. What's the point of the jailbreak, hm? questions, my father looking at his brother and I as he leans on the bar.

- I thought you could use a hug, Stefan, replies, Damon, looking fakely sad. I shake my head and roll my eyes.

- Come on, you two. You know Elena is gonna hate you for letting me out, he says pointing at Damon while the bartender puts our three shots in front of us. I guess one more isn't going to hurt me. And you, he points at me, she already hates you so you'll just go deeper in her hatred list, smirks, my father. I smile back fakely before grabbing one shot. And Damon, tells, dad, looking back at his brother while grabbing a glass as well, we all know that you care about what she thinks.

- Maybe we wanted to remind you what freedom was like, before Klaus took it from you. You know, your old life! They both look at me surprised by the angry tone I just used. Dad laughs lightly and drinks his shot. I drink it as well and smash the shot against the counter. Damon is frowning angrily at my father.

- As long as Klaus is alive, I do what he says, answers, dad.

- That's my point, dad. You've given up! I say as I point at his chest with my finger. Now you could sit around and be his little bitch, I hear Damon calling me in a warning and mad tone while dad laughs, or you get mad enough and you can do something about it. I mean, don't you remember the man who taught me to never give up? To always fight against what can cause me pain? against what isn't good for us? Don't you remember that? I ask him, my voice lighlty craking as I stare sadly and madly at him. Dad looks down, playing with his empty glass. He isn't laughing or smirking anymore.

- Gillian, he can't be killed, responds calmly and almost gently, my father, looking back up at me seriously. I stare at him, my mouth open, ready to say something back but nothing comes out. I just don't know what to answer. I turn to my uncle who look down at me, thinking.

- Maybe I can help with that, I hear a suddenly unfamiliar voice of a man coming from behind I. I turn on my stool and see a man, standing behind us three, looking at each one of us one by one. Who is that guy? The Salvatore boys, I presume? he states as he looks at the brothers before turning at me. And, you must be his daughter, he says pointing at me and my father. Those crazy green eyes are mesmerizing. I think people would need to be blind to not see the resemblance between your father's, I stare at the man with a surprised but also careful look as I feel Uncle Damon grabbing my hand discretely. He squeezes it when I remark my father stepping once closer to the man.

- Mikael, answers, dad, looking seriously and not so happy to see him. I look slowly up at Uncle Damon which caused him to glance quickly at me with worry.

Rebekah's P.O.V.

- Why did Mikael start hunting Klaus? questions, Elena, still bugging me with questions.

- When Nik made his first human kill, it triggered his werewolf gene. With that, he became my father's greatest shame, I answer, turning my back to the girl, not showing her the pain I felt for my brother.

- Yeah. Elijah told me this part of the story. Your mother had had an affair with one of the werewolf villagers. Klaus wasn't his son, replies, the brunette.

- She tried to make it right, I turn around and walk toward a small table. She put the hybrid curse on Nik to suppress his werewolf side, and then she turned her back on him. But Mikael's greatest weakness as a human was his pride, I explain with disgust. As a vampire, that was magnified. He went on a rampage and killed half the village. Then he came home and killed her, I say with sadness in my voice, even though I was trying to hide it. I guess the pain is stronger than I thought.

- Mikael killed your mother? whispers, Elena, shocked of what my father did.

- He said she broke his heart so he would break hers. He tore it from her chest as Nik watched, I answer as I see all the pain and disbelief in her eyes. Afterwards, my father took off in a rage, and the rest of my family scattered. Nik stayed, so he could help me bury her. He knew I had to say goodbye to my mother.

Flashback to when Niklaus buried mother

- I know you think she hated you, Niklaus, but she did not, I tell to my brother, feeling the tears rolling down my cheek as I shake my head. Niklaus throws some more dirt at the top of mother's grave before planting the shovel in the dirt. She was just afraid. I'm sorry she turned her back on you. I will never do that, I say as I turn my head to look at him. Niklaus stares at our mother's grave, not saying a word or looking at me.

- Nor will I, I, suddenly, hear Elijah saying to our brother. Elijah walks towards us, joining us in front of our mother's grave.

- We stick together as one. Always and forever, I hold my hand up to Niklaus and wait for him to grab it. My brother takes my hand in his before I hold up my second hand to Elijah. He takes it as well before both of my brothers hold hands too. I nod, feeling my last tear rolling down my cheek as we seal this promess.

End of the flashback

- Always and forever... I walk passed the girl while sighing. Even though he locked you in a coffin for ninety years? questions, Elena, sounding like what I just say is doubtful.

- We're vampires. Our emotions are heightened. I'm stubborn, Elijah moral, and Nik... Nik has no tolerance for those who disappoint him. Over a thousand years as a family we've all made that mistake at least once. I've made it several times, I explain her as I walk to the sofa where the dress for the homecoming is. I touch it as I feel my throat tightening. I won't let them out in front of her. I won't be weak.

- But you still love him? states, the brunette, like it is the craziest thing in the world.

- He's my brother. And I'm immortal. Should I spend an eternity alone instead? I see the brunette realizing what I am saying. She almost looks like she has pity for me. I look down, feeling sad, weak and kind of stupid that one girl, one human girl can do this to me by making me remembering my past. You've heard the story, it's time to go, I say as I walk towards the door. However, the brunette catches my arm causing me to stop and turn around, I said leave, Elena! I don't know what you're up to, but I'm no longer playing along.

- I'm just looking for one good reason why we shouldn't wake Mikael, responds, the brunette, faintly shaking her head, looking at me with a pleading look.

- And I've given you a thousand! But you will anyway. I know you want him to help you kill my brother, I'm not stupid, I reply to her, frowning upset and mad.

- It's no secret that I want Klaus dead. He has a hold over Stefan's life, and over mine, answers, Elena, looking seriously at me.

- It's funny how you seem to always put your silly little life and needs in front with Stefan's life even though we both know that Gillian is as much in danger as you are, I tell her madly, almost between my teeth. Elena looks away, looking angry. I don't know what happened between them but I can tell that Elena would never do anything to save Gillian if it's not for her father. However, I'm pretty sure the vampire daughter is the complete opposite... Do what you need. Wake Mikael at your own peril. But make no mistake, if you come after my brother, I will rip you apart. And I get my temper from my father, I warn her in a whisper and sternly, making myself clear. The girl doesn't reply nor move, staring at me with a mad and scared frown. Now leave!

Gillian's P.O.V

- Is Klaus out of the country? questions, Mikael who has been interrogating my father for five minutes now. God, he doesn't see that he is compelled or has he been in that coffin or whatever it was for too long? Uncle Damon hasn't released my hand since Mikael appeared in front of us and I can feel his nervousness through the tight of the hold.

- I can't tell you, answers, dad, calmly and lightly smirking.

- Has he spoken to you since he left?

- I can't tell you.

- All right. Can you tell me the last time you spoke to Niklaus? dad looks at Damon and I before crossing his arms and looking back at the man.

- I'm compelled to do what he says, and he says to keep my damn mouth shut, replies, my father, still smirking like before. I lightly roll my eyes, annoyed of his behavior. I mean that guy can kill us all in one movement, right? So why playing like my father does?

- I really hope this game of twenty questions isn't your secret weapon, states, Damon stepping once in front as he lightly pulls me with him, making me standing up.

- You see, Damon... Mikael puts his hand on Uncle Damon's shoulder which cause me to tense and squeeze my uncle's hand tighter if it is even possible. I've been a vampire hunter longer than you've been alive. It's why I found you here. It's why I'm gonna find Niklaus.

- Well, Klaus has been running for about thousand years, so if you think you can get a work around here... I was looking up at my uncle, surprise of how calm he can sound when, suddenly, I felt the worst pain I ever felt. I gasp once before my breath gets cut in my throat. I have my mouth wide open as I feel the hand of the vampire hunter holding my heart tightly. I can feel my heart pomping blood with difficulty as Mikael tightens his grip on it.

- Careful brothers. One move and her heart is gone, I see Uncle Damon staring at the hunter with hatred and dark black eyes full of angriness. However, a point of worriedness is shown. Dad is looking at the hand through my stomach, shocked and kind of nervous. Now, where is Klaus? I look up at dad who looks alternately between him and I. He won't say anything... I am so dead. What's the trick question, Stefan? One twist and she's dead, he says as he gets deeper and lightly twist his hand. I groan, trying not to scream because of the people surrounding us. My hand is still gripping onto Uncle Damon's one and I can feel the heartbeats in it due to the tight hold. My uncle's thumb is rubbing the palm of my hand, as I guess, he is trying to calm me down. Unless you don't care of course.

- His emotions have been shut off. He can't care, I answer, grunting at the same time while gasping.

- Really? states, the hunter, looking back at my father. His link to Klaus is so strong that he will let his own daughther die? I am so dead. I look up at my father wincing and feeling the tears coming up as the pain is staring to get unbarable. No ideas, hmm? Think, Stefan! tells madly, Mikael, frowning at my father. Dad doesn't say anything but I can tell he wants to. I guess you're right, tells me, Mikael while lightly shrugging. He's a dead end. And so are you, Gillian.

- Stefan! I hear Uncle Damon calling his brother angrily. Mikael jerks his hand in my chest, making me letting tears of pain rolling down my cheeks as I groan hurt, feeling my heart getting ripped out slowly.

- Wait! Mikael stops and I close my eyes as I try to stay up. I can bring him back. I can lure Klaus back to Mystic Falls, Mikael takes his hand out of my chest in one swift and I fall back, groaning. Damon catches me and puts me down on the stool behind me, his arms still around my back as his other hand in still gripping on mine.

- And there is our loophole, states, joyfully the man while wipping the blood off his hand with a rag he took from the counter behind us. Just had to rile him up a bit. Get Klaus back to Mystic Falls, and I will gladly drive a stake through his heart. Fail, I'll drive it through yours, I look at Mikael turning around before leaving the bar. I look up at my dad and then my uncle before letting my head fall on my arm which is resting on the counter. Damon runs his hand up and down my back repetitively, squeezing my shoulder each time he arrives to it.

Alaric's P.O.V.

- We, uh, filled in what we could, I explain to Elena as her, Bonnie and I are back in the cave. It was easier for me to work and Bonnie helped me a lot. I stick the post-its to the different symbols, indicating their meanings. A Vampire, werewolf, slaughter, mayhem, etc.

- That's the white oak tree that was used in the spell to create the vampires... states, Elena pointing at the drawing of a tree with her flashlights, which means that was when they burned down the tree, destroying the only way that they could be killed, explains, the girl, pointing to another drawing with the light.

- Okay. so tree equals weapon, sort of. We already knew that, I say as I look at Bonnie. The witch shakes her head, not knowing what to add. What we are not sure about is this, I say as I show a drawing to Elena with my flashlight. We've got the witch symbol, and what looks like a bleeding heart. Upside down figures usually signified death, of some kind.

- Mikael killed the witch by ripping out her heart, reminds us Elena of the story Rebekah recounted her. But... why is that one connected to the witch's death? asks, the brunette, frowning confused as she looks at me.

- We don't know. We haven't gotten that far, answers, Bonnie to her best friend.

- Oh my god... whispers, Elena, sounding like she just realized something. Rebekah doesn't know the real story.

Elena's P.O.V.

- I thought I told you to leave. Twice, I say to Elena after pouring a glass of Bourbon to myself, knowing it's her who just entered the Salvatore boarding house.

- How do you know that Mikael killed your mother? questions, the brunette, ignoring my statement.

- Nik was there. He told me, I answer, looking at the girl while shaking my head.

- He lied to you, replies, Elena as she walks down the few steps leading in the library.

- And how do you know that? I ask her, smiling fakely while titling my head on the side.

- The cave where you carved your family's names is covered in symbols. The story of your family: how your parents arrived, how they made peace, Elena puts a photo down on the table in front of me, a tree with fellows under it. The spell that turned them into vampires, she puts another photo. And this, Elena puts a third photo with two symbols combined together. This is the symbol for hybrid. It's a combination of the werewolf and the vampire symbol, explains, the brunette while pointing at each symbols on the photo. And this is the one for your mother, Elena puts a fourth photo, showing the drawing of my mother's necklace. Her necklace. And this is the story of her death, The brunette puts a last photo down as a chill runs down my back. The hybrid killed the Original Witch. Not Mikael. Klaus.

- No! No, he wouldn't, I tell her, not believing the girl. I look up at her, shaking my head.

- She put the curse on him, made it so that he would be the only one of his kind, and then she rejected him. With the werewolf gene comes aggression and violence... when he turned, all of that was heightened. He killed her, Rebekah. And then he made up this entire lie about your father, so that he wouldn't lose you, explains to me, Elena, staring at me the whole time as her voice gets a bit more higher and stern. I look back up at the girl, not knowing how to react. I don't know what I feel right now. Anger toward Klaus? Or maybe Elena? Betrayal? Stupid? I don't know, I'm lost. If Klaus lied to me, how could he kept me inside a coughing several times and for years, taking the fact that I disappointed him when, in fact, he killed our own mother?

- These mean nothing! I scream at her as I take all the picture before walking toward the fireplace and throwing them inside the flames. They're just stupid drawings, done by stupid people who had no idea who my family was!

- Then why are you so upset? questions, gently Elena, frowning with sympathy.

- Why are you doing this to me? I've done nothing to you! I ask her with sadness and Madness as I start to breath heavily.

- Klaus killed your mother. He has a hold on you, on me, on Gillian, on everyone. He has for a thousand years. We have to make it stop! screams back, Elena.

- Shut up! Shut up! Don't talk anymore! Nothing! I yell back at her as I grab her by her throat and push her against the wall behind. I can feel the veins popped under my eyes and my fangs out. Elena gasps while looking scared at me. I stare at her scared face and breath deeply, calming myself down slowly. I let go of Elena and back off slowly. I begin to gasp as I fall onto my knees. It can't be reel... How could Nik lie to me? I close my eyes as I start to sob in front of Elena.

Gillian's P.O.V.

- I'll give you ten points for flair, jokes, my uncle who is still holding my hand as the three of us walk out of the bar.

- At least, now we know where Klaus and Elijah learned their tricks from, answers, my father.

- Don't think you had to wait till the last second to have your breakthrough, though, I tell to my father, a bit upset but also glad. What he did... it means a part of him is still there. I was right...

- I didn't have a break through, Gillian, laughs, dad.

- Oooo, Ooooo, my daughter is about to die and I just had to save her life for the bajillionith time! I release the hold on my uncle's arm before pating my dad's back. Careful dad, your humanity is almost showing, I say smiling fakely to him before accelerating my pace.

- Gillian, calm down, tells me, Damon calmly.

- So you know what? You're right, Gillian, I stop and turn around to face my father. Uncle Damon stand next to us, looking alternately to the both of us. You're right. You both reminded me what my freedom felt like. And when we kill Klaus, I'll be free. Free to leave, I laugh humorlessly before passing my hand in my hair. Truly... I want to cry. I just want to let it go for good. Alaric was so damn right this morning... See, I didn't do this for you, Gillian. I did it for myself.

- Sure, dad. Whatever you say... I say, turning around to walk again after rolling my eyes and shaking my head. But before I could go away, dad grabbed my arm, turning me back around.

- Why are you doing this, huh? questions, dad, shaking his head as he looks at me like I am stupid to do what I'm doing to save him. What do you want from me? Why is everybody trying to save me?

- Because I have to, dad! Okay? I say as I step forward, standing right in front of him as I frown madly. Because you are in this mess with Klaus, because you saved my damn life. Because I owe you, dad stares at me, not saying anything. And because I need you. I need to hear you telling me you love me again. I need you to call me Lilou again, like you used to. I need your father teddy bear hugs. I need to know you'll protect me again. I guess Damon was right by not leaving you in a cell to rot, I say getting angrier and angrier, the feeling weighing on my chest. It's even worse than earlier. The more I talk, the more my voice cracks. I'm going to cry if I keep going. I'm going to be a mess... if I'm not already. I see Damon frowning sadly at me, like he knows what is going to happen next.

- Aw, better be careful, baby, smirks, my father as he nods. Your humanity is showing, That's it! I vamp out and rush to him, punching him with my vampire strength. Dad falls on the ground holding his jaw while smiling. He gets up with his vampire speed and pushes me over his shoulder, making me doing a backflip before I land on the ground. I see Damon punching dad as well as he stays in front of me. I stand up with the tears in my eyes.

- What the hell, Stefan? asks, angrily, Damon. I rush toward my father again and kick him, making him spinning in the air before he lands on the road. Damon tries to catch my arm but I get free from him and rush to my dad, kicking him in the stomach again. He flies several feet away as I groan, breath heavily and sobbing at the same time. Gillian, stop! Tells me, Damon, sternly and loudly.

- How could you do this to me? Emotions off or not! I scream at my father, still on the ground. I feel Damon grabbing my wrist to pull me away but I push him back so hard that he hits the car behind him. I hate you! I hate you both so much. Damon approaches me again, not looking mad at me but sorry. I push him away again, not as hard as I did before. He tries a third time and manages to catch my wrist. I struggle in his grip but manage to get free and slap him. Damon looks down at me with a frown and surprised as I begin to sob hardly. It hurts, doesn't it? Well, guess what this is the minimum pain I've been feeling since dad is gone, I turn around and vamp-speed back to mystic falls under my surprised uncle.

Elena's P.O.V.

- Uh...Damon! Seriously? I say to the vampire as I see him laying on my bed, waiting for me.

- We got Mikael, smirks, the vampire with raven hair.

- What? How? I ask, surprised.

- No idea. I guess Katherine came through. Plan's in motion. See, I told you I had it. Go ahead. Kick, yell, scream. Sure you've been planning your rant all day, tells me, Damon which caused me to roll my eyes.

- I'm not gonna yell at you, I reply back as I grab my blanket.

- Why not? I went behind you back with Gillian. Freed Stefan. And you know what? It backfired. He's an even bigger dick than ever... just now, he's a dick that's on our side.

- I'm not mad. I'm tired. I just... I want to go to bed, I start pulling my blankets to get Damon up, but he doesn't budge. Seriously?

- You know, I think Mikael's weapon is a stake, 'cause he mentioned something about it... tells, Damon, ignoring my comments and tiredness.

- Well, they must have carved it from the white oak tree before they burned it down, I tell him as I lay dow under my covers, giving up. I know he won't move anyway and I'm too tired to fight back.

- So I was right. After all that, the wall lead us to Mikael, replies, Damon, smirking again.

- Lead us to more than just that. I think I got Rebekah on our side, too, I respond, sighing.

- Really? What'd you learn from her? asks, the vampire, interesting about it.

- I learned, that she's just a girl. That she lost her mom too young, and she loves blindly and recklessly, even if it consumes her, I turn my head to look at Damon who is frowning confused. And when it's all said and done, there's nothing more important than the bond of family.

- Well, you should tell that to my brother, responds, Damon, rolling his eyes.

- I'm not mad at you for letting him out, Damon, I turn to switch off my lamp table and get back completely under the covers. I think that you are or Gillian is gonna be the one to save him from himself. It won't be because he loves me, it'll be because he loves you two, I say whispering the last sentence. Damon looks away, looking like he is thinking.

- Gillian fought with her father and I tonight, I frown lightly confused. She punched, kicked and slapped us. She was sobbing so hard... I think she was pretty pissed and couldn't take it anymore. He was kind off hard on her, whispers the vampire as he frowns sadly.

- Are you mad at her? I ask him, still whispering.

- No, I'm not. I know that she's been going through so much for a while now that I don't even know how she does to keep going, I look away from the vampire, frowning. I would have turned my emotions off since a long time ago if I was her.

- Go talk to her tonight, I whisper, nodding at the same time.

- No, she needs some alone time, answers, Damon. I'll talk to her tomorrow and try to help her as much as I can.

- Can I tell you the rest of the story tomorrow? I whisper as I feel my eyelids getting heavy.

- Sure, whispers, the vampire, as the last thing I hear before falling into darkness is his faintly chuckle.

Gillian's P.O.V.

I walk in the streets of Mystic Falls before entering a familiar building. Tears are still covering my cheeks and rolling one by one onto them. I keep sobbing and sobbing, feeling like whatever I do is for nothing. I try and try and try without stopping, I take my pain, my rage, my tiredness and all on me without saying anything or asking for help but tonight, I just can't take it anymore. I need to let it go. I need to change my air a little bit. I need to talk before I explode or become what dad became... Emotionless. I know training with the sticks won't be enough. I need to use words this time. I walk up the stairs of the building, wiping my tears away, even though others are replacing them. I continue sobbing quietly when I knock on the door in front of me. I pass my hand in my hair, grimacing sadly and feeling my lips shaking. Suddenly, the door opens and Alaric is standing right in front of me, looking confused to see me at this time of the night. Before he even says something, I step in and walk to his living-room.

- You were right, I tell him madly and crying at the same time. I see the teacher frowning confused and concerned at me after closing the front door. You were right, Uncle Ric. I can't take it. It's too much! The pain, the rage, the-the-the sadness, the scaredness... It's just all too much!! I say so loudly while pacing around his living-room. Everyday, I tell myself that it will go away, that one day it will stop, that I can take more and more. But I lie to myself. I kept saying it was making me stronger. Well, it's actually destroying me. I mean, look at me, I tell him, sobbing of rage and sadness, while staring at him, my arms wide open. My voice is shaking and cracking. I'm a damn mess... I'm incapable of doing something correct. I sent my dad to an immortal man who made him become what he always feared to be. Again! I convinced myself everyday since he is gone that the next day, dad will be back and our lives would go back to normal. But that's a damn lie! I... I lean in sobbing hardly, not able to talk anymore. I feel my throat tightening, blocking my voice from going out. Alaric steps in, frowning sadly but I gesture him to stop. The teacher stops moving and stays up as I start breathing heavily through my sobs. I killed him... I killed my father internally, I whisper, the warm tears rolling down my cheeks. I remark Alaric faintly shaking his head. And I don't know how to make him come back because I am so damn not capable to do something! Why is it always so hard?!! I ask in a whisper before falling on my knees. I can feel the warm salty pearls rolling on my cheeks constantly. It's like I can't stop anymore. Everything that was made of colors are gone. It's just black and white now. I hear Alaric stepping slowly closer to me before he knees in front of my shaking body. I'm tired, Alaric. I want it all gone. I want to stop it all, I say with a cracking voice to him. I see him staring at me with a slight surprised and nervousness before replacing it back with his sad frown. I know why he looked at me like that. I can feel the veins popped up under my eyes and my fangs are out. I cover my mouth and starts shaking, feeling scared that he'll leave me too. Don't be scared of me. It's-It-it's my emotions doing this, I whisper, crying while sobbing even harder.

The teacher nods before gently pulling me against him. I tried to resist at first but I give up and fall into his chest. The man has one hand in my hair, stroking them and the other one is on my back going up and down repetitively. He rocks us lightly left to right as the two of us don't speak. Alaric hasn't say a word since I arrived. I guess he just understood I needed to talk and been listened to. I hope... My cries are all that can be heard in his apartment. A good quarter of an hour has passed and Alaric didn't let go of me until I did it. I pull away and sit upright in front of him, my cheeks wet as I sniff sadly. I look up at the teacher, my eyes tired and sad and back to normal. He gently smiles at me as his right hand comes to my right cheek and wipes the tears with his thumb. He does the same thing on the left one before I look down.

- Feeling better? He gently whispers to me. I nod and look back up at him.

- I'm sorry, I just...

- I understand, Lian. You don't need to explain anything, I nod again before passing my hands over my face. What happened? I don't answer his question immediately. I look straight in front of me before shaking my head and breathing shakily.

- So many things at which I couldn't do anything, Alaric nods even though I know it isn't a good answer. I sigh and wipe a single tear that roll down my cheek. We were at a bar. All three of us. I almost died there, the teacher frowns confused and worried at the same time. We met Mikael who plunged his hand in my chest, ready to ripped my heart out. I could feel him holding it, tightening it at the point the beats of my heart could barely made it, I can see the sadness in Alaric's eyes. I drink a whole bottle of whiskey as I watched them acting dumbly around the bar and after they compelled all lot of people, I lightly shake my head. Then, I fought with my father and my uncle, Alaric frowns confused at me again. I punched dad, pushed him and kicked him out of rage. I couldn't control myself nor take it anymore. And... I turn my head to look at him, bitting my lower lip before sighing, I pushed and slapped Damon as well, I whisper.

- Well, I guess you did what everyone has been wanting to do, lightly jokes the teacher, faintly smiling. I don't smile back though, not feeling strong enough to do it.

- Ric? Am I a monster? Like, yes I'm a vampire and feed with blood coming from other living things, but... Am I a monster? I ask repeating my question seriously to him while feeling my eyes watering again. The teacher stares at me for a moment before looking away. I can't tell what his eyes are saying nor what he is thinking.

- I think... you just went through so much in your life that you try to do your best to protect yourself and the ones you love. Even if it means puting your needs aside, I look down before nodding. I look back up at the teacher, faintly smiling.

- Thank you, I whisper as two tears roll down my cheeks. I see the teacher taking his phone out of his pocket and looking at the time. I should probably go, I say standing up. I... I already bothered you too much today, I start walking toward his front door when I hear Alaric talking.

- Wait, I stop and turn around to look at him, stay a bit longer. I was done with those photos for today anyway, Alaric smiles and stands up from the floor as well.

- Ric, I came two times to see you today and those two times, I cried. I think you have better to do than taking care of my emotional wreck, I gently respond as I put my hand on the handle of the door.

- I told you this morning that you could call me if you needed my help, I turn around again and look at him. I meant it. You can call me at anytime of the day or of the night, the teacher steps forward to stand right in front of me. Gillian, I can tell you're not well. You need to spend time with some friends, have fun.

- And how do I do that? I ask him. Alaric opens his mouth but nothing comes out. I guess he just didn't know what to say. I faintly smile at him. It's okay, Uncle Ric. I'll survive this, just like I keep doing for months now, I hear him sighing and groaning lightly at the same time.

- Wait, I'll prepare the sofa for you. You'll sleep here for tonight, I don't say anything back nor move or gesture. I couldn't bring myself to smile at the man either, feeling to tired and weak. I step forward and embrace him again. I hear Alaric lightly chuckling before he embraces me back. I didn't know a sofa could make you that happy, jokes the man. I pull away, faintly smiling before playfully slapping his arm.

- I'm just happy to have you to talk to whenever I'm down. I don't... You're actually the only person I can truly talk to when it concerns things like this.

- And I'm glad you come talk to me about it, kiddo. Now, let me go prepare that bed before you passed out on me, I frown confused before shaking my head.

I think I just look very exhausted and tired... And a bit drunk. I'm glad he didn't take my crying and screaming session on the alcohol but truly on my emotions. Alaric leaves the living room to go get what he needs to make my bed on the sofa for the night. I take my phone out and send a text message telling Uncle Damon that I am sleeping here tonight. I don't think he'll care anyway after what I did tonight, but who knows? I prefer doing this before I am either getting bullied by him by text messages and calls or him looking for me in all Mystic Falls and then yelling at me. I go sit on the sofa, waiting for Alaric to come back. I lay my back against it and close my eyes before quickly falling into darkness.
